Great selection and knowledge from the staff. We were going camping and wanted to get outfitted for some fishing. When I told him where we were camping he informed us that the river was closed. Thanks to him we saved a bunch of money. We still bought a license and fished at a lake along the way. I will definitely go back this year to gear up. They could be friendlier.

Came here for some gear based on a recommendation from a friend for their great service. I came in looking for a rod and wasn't too sure about the height or action that'd suit me best. The staff was friendly and super helpful! I ended up having a great conversation with one of the employees who recommended us a fishing spot on the North Sask and some of her favourite lures to use. Overall, a great experience and I'll be shopping here for my fishing gear from now on.

Very knowledgeable staff...first impression is that it is way too expensive for me but if you keep walking and move towards the back you can find $60 combination rod and reel kits or you can mix and match with whatever you like and spend $1,000 if you really want to. I couldn't find a combo I liked but I was able to pick a rod and reel that went together great and was still around $120 for a high quality rod and reel. Added some line, got a few lures and I was ready to go. They did mention that during the pandemic, this stuff will be selling out super fast in a couple more weeks so get in there!

Went in hoping to buy a couple of new lures and rigs. Left there with tons of advice and tips for the species I'm targeting, and lakes/rivers I'll be fishing. Excellent staff, with lots of knowledge. All very friendly and approachable. These are things that are often missing in the retail experience these days, but not here. Highly reccomended for the both the experienced angler and newbie.

The best place to go for your fishing needs. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and never hesitates to share that little trick that'll help you catch "the one". The prices are fantastic and I love that I can renew my license there. Their product lines are very good and well thought out for the Alberta fisher man or woman. I honestly refuse to go anywhere else. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

Top notch service. I've always been pleased here. In response to Scott's comment below, I'm not sure but what I am guessing happened to you is that when you had the line taken off of your old reel you found cheaper line hidden underneath the first. This is normal and don't worry, the fishin hole are not trying to rip you off. This is a precaution taken by the staff to protect your equipment. Premium braid lines if not given a layer of cheaper line to "dig into" underneath will either cut the spool, or not hold to the reel, meaning you would lose a fish. The staff were taking this precaution to protect your equipment and your next big catch. They also don't charge you the same as if you had filled up the whole reel, I've had a bunch of reels done up at this location. The old timers always do a great job

I went to the fishing hole to purchase a larger item, thinking it was still on the boxing day, Christmas sale and it wasn't. The 23rd, 24th and 25th, I had my family out to my house for Christmas celebrations. I called the store on the 26th and was told that the Christmas sale had ended and that the item I wanted wasn't on sale and was told that, they were too busy to talk and couldn't hold the item for me until I could talk to someone who had an answer. We had looked online as well and the website sadly gave no details either so we assumed that the sale would be on for boxing week much like every other store. We took our son ice fishing on the 27th and 28th thinking that we would go in to the city on the 29th. The item was in stock, but as we were told by the gentlemen working it wasn't on sale any longer. We waited to speak to the assistant manager as the salesman thought he could at least give us 10% off not the apparent 25% that we missed out on. The assistant manager was kind enough but told us that he had called the owners for other people as well but they were firm on the no added sale days or items. He remembered us as we do purchase a lot from the fishing hole and my husband is always wanting to give business to them rather than the larger chain stores. However, I can't imagine how any owner would turn down any chance to sell items that have been in stock for a while. The item we are looking for was in stock and it has a price tag of 700. I will now limit what I do purchase from them since the smaller business is apparently thriving enough to turn customers away by limiting sales to 1 day. Exceptions can always be made, we all know that! I have no problems with the service received, I have a problem with the owner's no exceptions policy. Everyone loves a good deal because we then turn around and spend what we saved on one thing to buy more and it's usually at the same place !

These guys are truly amazing! They have supported my daughters school fundraiser for the third year in a row! They also said that if I bring in my two daughters' fishing rods who are 8 and 6, they will show me how to set them up! This last summer I was amazed at how they loved casting off the peer with their cousin for hours...Generosity in these economic times says a lot about a business. I will be back to purchase gear for my girls and perhaps even myself. In person support for people of all ages and levels of experience to learn about and enjoy a great outdoor activity like fishing and generosity for local schools and kids will win over the convenience of Amazon in my house any day.
