This Fish Shop is classified in the category of Restaurant.
A tasty place in the city to go for fish and chips with a few choices of fish including a feature. The piece of fish is quite large and the batter is light and crispy. If you don't like tartar sauce, there are several other sauces you can order for a small cost and the bowl it comes in is generously shareable. The squid salad was delicious and I recommend starting with it. They offer a few craft beers on tap or bottled to choose from to accompany the food.
Food was well cooked. Delicious. I strongly recommend the pakoras here.
The food was good but far from great. However the service was above average! Me and 5 of my boys ordered the haddock and chips for $20 Ish a piece and we all agreed that the fish was fresh and of good quality but the batter was noticeably thin and under seasoned, the coleslaw was awesome, the fries were average, and the tarter sauce was decent. We all came to the conclusion our meal quality and portion size was just not worth the price. These guys definitely aren’t the best in the city but they are far from being the worst!
Always fully satisfied when I visit. Today I tried the crispy fish roll and chips, with a bowl of cioppino. I never feel like I spend too much for the amount of food and quality, especially for fish in Alberta. Always an excellent experience for my wife and I.
Best fish and chips, I order from them all the time. The fish are lightly battered and taste perfect just like the fries, 10/10 the loaded mash is also incredible, quick service good portions not overly greasy, 100% delicious.
Grabbed some lunch here with colleagues a couple of times. Excellent food: the fish is fresh, batter is light and airy. We sat at the large table and the seating feels a wee bit awkward at first as space is tight, but as you settle in, you start to get a sense of being in a family home.
Incredible experience! In love with this fish & chips place. Poutine is amazing as well.
Nicely put together. Haddock is great and the staff seem chilled and attentive.
Great food (I had fish and chips) and very personable service. A good selection of beers on tap. Reasonable prices... What more could you ask for? Oh, right, great ambience. A good vibe. The other diners were enjoying themselves as well.
AWESOME pan fried fish without all the batter.
I'll be back in a month or two hopefully they work out their kinks. Service was slow and staff seemed confused. Food was good but the fish was a bit over cooked. It was a small portion for what you paid. Maybe I had it too hyped up before it opened. Hopefully it will get better with time.
Delicious! We ordered on skip the dishes.
Such a positive exeprience, would go back in a heartbeat! The atmosphere is great, the service is friendly and fast, and the food is quality! Everything was on point! The basa was light and flakey, the batter was light and crisp, and the chips were hand cut and delicious. Their cheese biscuits and tartar sauce are also the bomb. You definitely get what you pay for and more!
Great service, fast friendly people. The place is too small. But the price and the food is good.
Try Brits instead. This was not good. It was thin and had no taste. How do you mess up fish and chips so badly.
Nice flavor, nice service
Excellent food, friendly service. The take out was ready quickly and the special was a very good value. Food was excellent. Loved the Tandoori cauliflower.
Decent menu options beyond just classic fish and chips. The flavours are good, but I wasn't blown away. Great spot for lunch or a group dinner.
Great food.Happy vibe,and great service.
Kind staffs and good food. No reason to dislike
Best Fish n' Chips in Alberta! Great tartar. Excellent coleslaw. Generous portions.
Went their a couple of times and everything is so Fish & Chips..why travel to Britain when you can enjoy this real Fish & Chips with vinegar right here. Will go back over and over again. Had regular batter, awesome, but they do have a more cripsy batter, which apparently is glutenfree and I am not silica.
In general feel its just ok, food is ok, price is ok, nothing really surprise me. Not a big fan of this kind of 'fast food'
The haddock and chips was fantastic! Highly recommended. Buttery batter, but not too greasy. Also really enjoyed the malt vinegar - seemed better than run of the mill. Love the ambiance as well. The was Queen playing in there for a while along with great lighting. Beer selection was really good too. Service was friendly and attentive. Great place - will be back soon!
Deliciously moist fish, excellent batter and crispy chips with an array of sauces to choose from. Paired with a good beer, great music and a nice decor. What's not to like.
awesome fish and chips! oysters were great, mojito was great, soup was awesome, drinks took awhile and food was given to 2 other tables that entered after us, before ours was out which was off putting, nonetheless very good
Nice fish and chips and customer service was the best
Great fish. My friends loved the oysters. Fries over done and the servers hair touched my food. Over all thou great atmosphere. Loved the music and washrooms clean and full of character. Will go back.
Cozy location across from the legislature. Fresh fish, good beer selection and nice option to take the family.
This is a good place to eat. First time. The chowder was fab!
The food is good, but the portions are on the smaller side. You can add more fish to your meal if you would like a larger portion.
Fresh fish, they cook it out in the open and the restaurant doesn't smell like old cooking oil. Portions were huge, fries cut fresh, house-made tartar sauce... So good!
Excellent fish and chips in Edmonton. The place is a little small, and can be noisy, buy definitely worth the trek downtown for.
Great fish and chips... I think the best in Edmonton. Had the haddock and found it cooked perfectly... Great fries a coleslaw also. Service was friendly and quick. Not a single issue.
The food is excellent, the portions were plenty, however, it was slightly pricey.
Most authentic fish I've had this side of the pond, and very good fries, but they are fries not proper chips. Very good, definitely worth stopping by!
I came and ordered the fish tacos and an iced tea. I didn’t know my mouth could be so confused about what was happening. It knew something was being chewed but there was ZERO flavour, it was almost a physical representation of what water tastes like. Only thing with flavour was the sesame seed dressing I had to buy and cover it in, but then it was like I was only eating a fatty sauce. Server was really friendly and we were in fact greeted at the door, so the staff is FANTASTIC! But that can only carry you so far
The food is so good here! Best fish n chip place in town
Great little place to sit down or grab some take out! Enjoy some fish n chips and head over to the ledge grounds for a cute little date. Smashed peas are delish and the clam chowder is next level.
Lovely food & scenery
Had a large meal to celebrate an occasion. Clam chowder was hearty, not too salty like most places. Fish and chips were super fresh. Had the fish fried fritters and also some sides. Will definitely come back.
If you love fish... also, cheerful staff
Primo and proper. Loved everything about this place.
Fish was good. Fries were great. Brussel sprouts and cauliflower were amazing.
Really good fish and chips. Not expensive
Great fish and chips. Good beer selection and funky atmosphere.
Good food, great service. Seating is limited though so reservations recommended!
No flavour in the batter or tartar sauce . Fish tasted like flour nothing special about it , just a high priced menu for poorly executed food . Brits fish and chips is still by far the best in town and closest to what you would find in London and Scotland.
I has the best haddock and chips here the other night. The service was great, and the food was amazing, I will definitely be coming back. I love this place.
It's so good, you will over eat. Best chicken strips in Edmonton
They food was poorly done; poorly battered fish, small broken fries, too salty and instead of a solid piece of fish two small tail pieces stuck together. I've tried this restaurant a couple time, to give them a chance, but the food is mediocre at best. Where they truly shine is customer service. The service staff truly seem to care and try to compensate for the kitchens short comings, but this is a team effort and unfortunately the food isn't that good.
Visit Date: April 2017 Food: Nothing is really healthy, as most menu options are either deep fried fish or chips. Some salad and creamy soup options are available. Palatable taste. Very small food portions unless you like filling up on chips or hashbrowns. Serve mostly appetizers, so it’s not really a place to ‘dine’. Serves Alcohol. Ambiance: No cushion couches/chairs but still manages to bring out warmth through its ‘inn styled’ hard wood furniture. Music: Good old pop. Price: Decent, in the range of $15-$25 per person Parking : Street, you may struggle finding one. Service: Decent Seating area: Pretty small (limited) Context: I give Starbucks a 2.5 and Tim Hortons a 2 on a scale of 5 stars
Good prices fish slightly underseasoned.
Dine in
It's was nothing special. The food was good and filling but it was missing flavour. The fries were salty and the fish tacos were mediocre. The service was good but I expected more from the food.
First of all, the service is excellent, and the amount of food is reasonable for the price u paid for. However, the fried fish taste too greasy. If you are a huge fan of the fried food, this is the place for u. BTW the lime is hard to squeeze lol.
Awesome food and service. Loved everything that we ordered. Definitely going back for more.
This place is doing it right. They make easily the best seafood chowder I've had. Soo good!
Best fish and chips in town.
One of the better seafood places in town. Their specialty is fish n' chips (surprise), with a variety of fish types and vegetarian options. Rustic, seaside-esque atmosphere.
Love this place! Honestly I'm not a big fish and chips kind of person but this place completely changed my mind. Their fish is always fresh and no overly oily. It's such a great value too. I've tried a few other items on the menu such as the clam chowder and their brussel sprouts, they were okay, nothing memorable. If you're looking for a great lunch spot or are craving fish and chips this is the place to go.
Great fish and chips. Batter is not too rock or heavy but evenly coated. Fish is a generous portion as are the chips. Coleslaw is delicious and I don't normally like coleslaw! Lightly dressed with a vingrette, I found it very refreshing. Small patio but recommended on a hot summer day with a cocktail during their happy hour.
I tried Grandin's a few days ago for lunch. I ordered the haddock and chips. This was very, very good fish. A nice light, crisp batter, perfectly cooked, not at all greasy or heavy. The chips were good, but for proper fish and chips, they should really be a little chunkier. Chips, not fries. The coleslaw was...meh. But it's coleslaw, who really cares? As for the service, it was prompt, efficient, and friendly. I'll definitely go back.
Thank you so much yesterday for the food. Happy takeout Day to you and I'll be there next Wednesday
No doubt their fish n chip is really fresh, me and my hubby love to go this place when we are craving for fish n chip, he would say this is one of the best in town. But he is a lil disappointed with the curry soup, think that is too salty for him. Anyway, I would recommend this place if you want fish n chip!
Fantastic! As an eastcoaster finding good fish and chips is always a challenge. This place does them right! Will be back often!
Great food and beer. Lunch menu seemed a little over priced for fish and chips.
Nice fish and chips. Run by the owners of The Common next door. Fast service for the lunch hour and good choices of fish. Reasonably priced too
Good food, below average service. We asked for a table for 6 and were initially given a table for 4, were never asked if we wanted drinks and got quick, curt responses to anything we asked the waitress for. The food was good- fish and chips and tartar sauce was amazing but the coleslaw was just meh. Our pineapple upside down cake also had no cherries on/it like advertised? I've heard great things about this place so it was a disappointing experience.
Friendly authenticate fish and chips. The fried Brussels sprouts are my favorite. Great decorations and atmosphere. During busy times there can be a wait for a table, so be prepared or consider taking your order to go and eating at the legislature across the street.
This is my favorite fish and chips spot in Edmonton. They have beautiful flavourful fish with a crispy fry. The fried eggplant is an amazingly thoughtful and delicious vegetarian option. Every side I've had has been great, and I'm never worried about what I'm eating because of their open kitchen concept. The atmosphere is casual, but also easily dressed up for a nice date because of the lower lighting. Kids are totally welcome too. Also the music is always groovin'.
Better than Britz. Really good, wife didn't like their tartar, but I liked it. Fish was crispy (not soggy and slimey). 10/10 would recommend.
Fresh, tasty and good sized filet. (Halibut
I had the Haddock Fish 'N' Chips. Wow look at that size of fish you get! Put other. F/C stores to shame the price is excellent too.
My daughter is obsessed with the Mashed Potatoes, prices are reasonable and they play good music. Energy is great and the staff are amazing.
Meh. Not as a great as I thought. But not bad either. To be honest, I'd say my expectations may have been too high. Anyway, I was left pretty disappointed in Grandin FnC. If you're going lower your expectations a little.
Nice place that serves great food with a smile. Food was reasonably priced. Fish and Chips were great so were the Fish Tacos and the Lobster roll. You cant go wrong eating here.
Amazing food!!!! We ordered the Haddock and chips which CE with coleslaw and an order of the loaded mashed potatoes????Sooooo good. Definitely will be a repeat customer and highly recommend stopping by.
Great food and solid protocols in place for safe dining.
Seriously great food. They even have a full celiac menu with a separate deep fryer to ensure against cross contamination. Highly recommend the Cod dipped in the Japenos mayonnaise. Fries were also excellent and prices were very reasonable given the quality and quantity of food. Will definitely be back.
Good food but very small portions. Two of us Spent $35 for lunch and we both left hungry. I would have thought for $14 for fish and chips you would get more than one small piece of fish and a few fries.
Fish was great as always, (the Sole is incredible!), service was friendly,
Grandin Fish and chips is a little hole in the wall that far exceeds the hole in the wall expectation. The fish was larger sized (5-6oz fillet) with just enough breading to be crispy, but nothing enough to be greasy. The fries were ok. Improvement could happen but that could be a personal preference. The coleslaw was house made and delicious. A meal would probably run you around 20$. That being said, I'd go again.
I ordered the Haddock and chips. It was divine! The fish is fresh and juicy. The batter was crisp and delicious. Not heavy nor greasy. The chips are fresh. Crisp. The coleslaw is also fantastic! The service was attentive, friendly and professional. The decor is seaside chic. Wooden bench is very uncomfortable. I can't wait to go back.
When the craving for fish and chips comes on this is our go to place. Pleasant staff as well.
One of the best places in town for fish and chips. Lunch time was super busy but we'll worth the wait. Average wait time for food was not very long I would say 15ish mins. If you want a table you will be waiting for a bit. They have a standing area where you can choose to eat well you wait or you can get take out.
Cute trendy restaurant with nautical inspired decor. Food was good! Probably one of the best fish and chips you can get in Edmonton. Good selection of creative and delicious sides
Excellent fish and chips
Food was spectacular, great GF fried fish n chips! Great cocktails and dessert. Would recommend
Love this place, one of my fav in Edmonton. Great rotating fish and everything on the menu is great!
First time, won't be the last! Delicious food, generous portions. Great service. Friendly. Clean. Adhered to all covid protocols. Hand sanitizer readily available and masks being worn by staff at all times. Will definitely go again!
Disappointed with our service and the quality of the food. We had heard raving reviews about Grandin, and as Aussies we love good quality fish'n'chips! We placed our order at 12:15pm for a 7:00pm pickup to be only told that at pickup all of the haddock had been sold out. We were recommended fish of the day (Tilapia) which had a muddy taste to it due to it being a fresh water farmed fish and the chips were soggy and not cripsy (definitely not double or triple cooked). Won't be back and do not recommend.
Great food, nice staff. Very busy and it's not cheap, but it is really good fish and chips.
Awesome food and a nice bonus was the Hawksley Workman playing all night! We will be returning!
Great food not greasy at all. My wife and i brought our 2 year old and the server was great with him. Will definitely come back.
Nice relaxing atmosphere and the fish & chips are filling and we always have leftovers!
The gluten free coating is a real treat. Don't bother with a salad-just binge on the fish and desserts!
Surprisingly good. Although by the time we got the take out home in 35mins. The fries and the buns were very soggy.
Came here for a late dinner. I try to eat low carb so I was really happy to see that I could have tandoori cauliflower instead of chips. Everything was delicious. The fish came with tartar sauce and the cauliflower had a curry sauce with it, and they paired perfectly. The batter does not have much seasoning, so you do need the sauce. It was a very large portion for the price. I'll definitely be back!
Amazing fish. They thought my puppy was so cute they made him his own fish which he looooved
This is the place to go for fish and chips! Delicious food and great service! Also, my friend was so happy to be able to order gluten free fish and chips. We'll be back!
Delicious fish and chips. Lots of sides and sauces to enjoy them with.
Yes nice place, good service, food pretty good. The chips can use a big improvement as they are low quality.
Main dish was amazing. Good times with friends to be had here for sure. The waitress didn't refill my drink at all, but other than that the service was great
Lovely place for fish and chips and other British foods! The food is never too greasy, which is perfect for this type of food. The atmosphere is friendly, casual, and laid-back, and the restaurant has cute character. I will definitely be back in the future!
Friendly staff. The haddock and chips with a side of curry sauce is excellent.
Best Fish and Chips in Edmonton! Try the Haddock!
The servers are so nice and helpful! The house iced tea is perfect! Never had a bad meal here
Monkfish was amazing, really nice sweet slaw, solid cocktails (they iced the glass properly, always a nice touch) and excellent deserts.
Gluten free fish! Omg. Had the haddock yum
We used to travel to Spruce Grove from Edmonton for our favorite fish n chips now that we've tried Grandin (who are 5 mins away from home!!) we won't be traveling far for our new favorite fish n chips!! I had the haddock and it was battered just enough, the fish was juicy and THICK yet still crispy! Yum! My hubby had the tacos and he was a major fan! Thanks for the hospitality guys!
Great ambience and great good!
great crispy fish, nice staff, relax and inviting atmosphere, best Fish and Chips in Edmonton
We went for downtown dinning week and very well priced! It was definitely chilly in the restaurant and we couldn't take our coats off due to that. I feel the food really fell flat due to lack of seasoning. Everything was good it just missed seasoning. The sauce for the tandoori cauliflower lacks flavour and I think it would be better warm. I would totally go back and maybe it was just an off day. But that seasoning would make the food SO much better so please consider it in the future so I can fully enjoy your food and enjoy it when I come back! Also I'm not sure if the mars bar is just a downtown dinning week thing but the ratio of fries to icecream was a little unjust. I'd like more ice cream and less fries or else it starts to taste like the fries shouldn't belong. Just opinions from a customer who thinks the food is great but is just missing a few things along the way!
Many apologies Grandin Fish and Chip Restaurant, but my meal with you on Friday last week was possibly the worst food that I've eaten in a restaurant since being here (7 years). As an English person I know my Chips! and yours were not even up to sub-par standard. The fish was just OK, the coleslaw not necessary (one should have mushy peas), and the dessert was OK (Chocolate something), but not a very good size portion for the price.
Fresh food and great drinks. Decent service as well!
Best fish and chips in Edmonton. Barely leaves any room for dessert.
I didn't care for the change of fish, pan fried is not the same as deep fried. Now I have to look for a new Fish n Chips place.
Such a busy place but well worth waiting for!! Great portions, very tasty, would highly recommend this place!!
Fish and chips were great, as was the chowder. Recommended.
The food is really good and the prices are fair. I’ve been here a few times and will return, the effort to make gluten free options is much appreciated.
REALLY good place, top notch food and local beer selection
Just had a pint of draft and an excellent bowl of chowder with a friend. Enjoyed the nautically themed ambiance!
Great food. The mashed potatoes are amazing. I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone really mention the plates. They spin around pretty bad when trying to eat. Only downfall is the plates
Excellent fish, excellent service ????
The batter on my haddock was so light and didn't have that heavy, greasy feel. I found the fish itself and the house tartar sauce somewhat bland. I would like to return and try some od their other items, such as the clam chowder and lobster pot pie.
1 piece of fish, fries n drink for more than $20. Good fish, but pricing is not in line.
Delicious fish and chips. Casual friendly service.
Decided to walk in person to order and take out. Staff were friendly and patient and did not wait longer than ten minutes! Fish and chips were amazing but found veggies a bit on the harder/undercooked side. Great local restaurant and very minimal plastic use in packaging.
Great spot for seafood!
Service was quick and friendly. Had some great beers to try. Ambience is pretty max relax, and unlike some seafood places, the fish-themed decor isn't tacky or overwhelming. The food, ai had the haddock, was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked.
I really enjoyed my meal here. The staff was pleasant, and the feel is casual enough for me to be a regular visitor, especially considering the prime location. It definitely has a very trendy vibe, but that doesn't detract from anything. I saw a family with children in the restaurant, and while I didn't know them, they seemed to be enjoying themselves. This is not a given in all "trendy" places. They weren't too greasy in my opinion, and they didn't overdo themselves with their menu. As far as fish and chips go, this is a great place to stop by.
Great food. Attentive staff.
We had the Haddock and Chips and it was a great meal. Fish was to die for with the light batter chips were very tasty and nice coleslaw. Tartar Sauce was to die for. We hadn't gone for a couple of years but with defineatley return. Sweet friendly staff Give them a try and support local!!
Great food & staff.
Recently opened! We went on a Thursday evening and had their Cod and Haddock which was great. Huge pieces of fish with more than enough chips to accompany it. Staff was friendly and the decor was also nice. Would definitely recommend!
Wonderful service, great atmosphere, and excellent food. I ordered the eggplant and chips and a side of Mac n cheese. Everything I ate was amazing I got quite large portions.
Nice spot. Fish a little underseasoned.
Nice casual place to try. Good quality fish and a variety of other dishes sets it apart from other fish and chip eateries.
Excellent food and service. Try their Manila Clams to die for....
Always fresh Not too greasy. Great chips.
Great food loved that they offer Gluten Free items.
Food was so good! Service was great! Fast and friendly!
Great fish and chips. Both the haddock and the cod were very flavourful and filling. The side asparagus was cooked perfectly. And the place was baby friendly (high chairs available).
Great staff, great food and not chinsy on the portions. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're from back east or not, order up the haddock, slaw is very tasty
The portions were great. The food was tasty. I had the haddock and chips and the Brussel sprout bubble and squeak. The fish was cooked perfectly, flaky and crispy. Not overly greasy. The fries are all house done. They are pretty perfect. The Brussel sprouts were my favourite though. They were well roasted. They lacked a bit of seasoning, but that is easily rectified with the salt and pepper on the table. If it was full, it would've been really crowded in there. They have a lot of seats in a small space. Thankfully, it wasn't too crazy while we were there.
Great place; great food fantastic service.
Amazing restuarant great fish and chips. I'm not really into fish normally but these guys know how to cook it! Staff is friendly and efficient! Chicken is also great as well. Prices are reasonable and good portion sizes.
Yesterday was our second trip to Grandin. My wife and I love the fish and chips here. We can easily split an order and feel full. The batter is gluten free, crispy, very light tasting and the fish is great. The only knock was our strawberry and rhubarb pie, which was just a bit weird. Sorry that's not very descriptive but it wasn't typical. The crust was great, but the fruit was in a filling that was somewhere between custard and jello and it came off quite bland
Grandin Fish 'N' Chips has friendly staff, nicely sized portions, some unique tasty menu items, and most importantly, awesome Fish 'N' Chips, with a selection of fish choices.
Came a few weeks ago to give it a try and was overall happy. Portions are generous. Food was tasty enough, it's fried fish so there's not too much to mess up. The coleslaw was really tasty and a pleasant change from the uasual mayo flooded versions, it was light and tasty. The Brussels sprout dish was pretty ho-hum though. Fish was fresh, tasty and excellent. Fries were really tasty (and I'm not usually a fry guy). Skip the strawberry-rhubarb pie though. It's an open face pie and the fillings' about 2mm thick so you don't get much flavor on it. Service was prompt and excellent.
I honestly never notice this place when I drive by, but I'm glad I stopped here to grab food. The fish n chips are amazing, some of the best I've ever had. And it's all very reasonable in price too. Great flavour, large portions, and a cool atmosphere make for a great restaurant. If you're looking for fish n chips, I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat.
Good fish, good chips, good beer. Savage curried cauliflower. Highly recommend
A giant piece of fish and chips what can beat that. Really enjoy the vegetable sides, tandoori cauliflower and also got the brussels sprouts, which were tasty. Price is good and so is the service
Second time going here for dinner. I always enjoy the fish and usually will have an appetizer. Love there fries!
Cute atmosphere. Fresh tasty food. The batter was very clean on fish and fries. Homestyle fries were excellent. And the fish was amazing. Excellent service. Our waitress when above and beyond our expectations. I recommend this to anyone wanting classic fish and chips! We will be returning soon! Thank you.
I was expecting more. The Cod & Chips was only $12, very reasonable price but the fish was very thin and a small pittance of fries. The taste was ok, not greasy. Restaurant is permanently closing at the end of December 2021, so this review is moot
Wonderful fish lightly battered yum
Great fish, large portions, good draft. Small and at peak times it's a wait. Worth the wait.
I'm from out east, been a connoisseur for 40 years. This is excellent fish and chips.
Meal type
Best fish and chips in Edmonton. Other food is good too and at great price! Place gets busy so plan ahead.
That fish was delish! The oysters were pretty good too.
Great fish & chips, make sure to save room for their dessert. ????
They've come a bit of a ways and fast becoming a staple. Here's to hoping they stay a lifetime. Love the fish and chips and the occasional hotdog.
The only reasons why its not getting five stars is because there are somethings I think are 5 star worthy but I know others may bash it for. So make your own decision! Fish (I had the haddock) - fresh but oily because it was right off the fryer.. Personally I'm good with it being oily but if you dont like oily you may need to blot a bit. It also isn't very salty which personally I love but I knew my friends would have wanted to add salt. Chips - SO GOOD! Crispy on the outside, salted nicely... I loved them. Tartar sauce was fantastic and the coleslaw... I cant rate it because I'm not a fan of coleslaw in general... I ate it though so that says something! Fish Fritter - good and fresh! They came to us. Smoking hot! Butter potatoes - also good, fresh and warm. The portion size of the fish and chips was perfect! I saw others complain the sizes were small.. I guess they fixed it. I am DEFINITELY going again
Super excited to try this restaurant out and brought my parents along. Due to Covid capacity restrictions, the restaurant was not busy. However, it was a lack lustre experience. After being seated and provided instructions for the menu, it was a fair amount of time before the waitress arrived to take our order. (Too busy on her cell phone at the counter with her coworker) The beer that was served to my dad was warm. We ordered a dinner for 4 and an additional meal of haddock. The dinner for four arrived at the table and we were advised that the haddock would be right out. It was at least five minutes if not longer before the final meal was served. This was extremely awkward, as a party of five, we would all like to eat at the same time. All the while, the waitress is again standing at the counter playing on her phone chatting with her coworker. I watched as the final meal was plated and set on the counter for her to bring out, she continued to play on her phone. I was about to get up and ask for it myself. Not sure, if I want to return to an establishment that does not seem that interested in professionalism. Even McDonalds employees are not playing on their phones, ignoring customers.
Definitely a stellar experience fish light batter delicious very fresh good portion ;coleslaw perfect;fries non greasy;take out was handled by friendly staff that explained the menu and fish selection all staff with smiles on there faces while I waited a short 10 minutes for my selection will definitely be back and recommend to all my friends and business associates
As a Fish and Chip place in YEG obviously faces and uphill battle because of... you know the lack of an ocean thing but Grandin rises to the challenge - the lobster roll was filled with meat and well prepared, I don't even remember what the "catch of the day" type offering was but it was also very good - they also usually have a good microbrewery on tap.
I got take out fish and chips at the downtown location That gave me burnt fries and stale awful. Ending throwing all the fries.
It's just expensive fish and chips that tastes like what you get anywhere else. Nice location and staff.
Best fish and chips in Edmonton. Excellent portions, amazing food, phenomenonal service. This is a true #yeg gem!
This is a great place to visit if you want fish and chips. Lots of options to choose from, well decorated, great customer service, you can eat inside or outside. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat when I visited Edmonton. Lots of drinks to select from as well, and did I say the service was great? The food did not take very long to cook as well, they are a very efficient business.
The haddock was good, service was lacking
The haddock was full of pinbones. Although I left all of my fish the server never checked our table to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The mushy peas were really sweet, not really mushy peas as I know them and the tartare sauce tasted like mayonnaise and dill pickle relish. Chips were hot and crispy but everything got cold quite fast because it was served on a cold metal platter. 1 star because the chips were good. Wheelchair accessible to a certain extent, manual swing doors however.
Terrific service, good hours, charming atmosphere, and AWESOME food! Thank you ????. We’ll be back.
Best haddock and chips in town. Great big portions.
Delicious! The curry sauce is just like the ones you can find in England! Huge portion sizes and the environment is so comfortable and inviting
Really great little spot, super service, atmosphere and I am totally stealing this from our server "best sushi I never had" yummo fish and chips though!
Calling all Maritimers- if you are craving down home fish and chips, this is the place to go! I could eat their tartar sauce with a spoon!
The fish and chips were very good, served hot and fast
Pretty good They try to batter fancy fish, but always have cod... which really you can't beat
What a wonderful place. Very clean, wonderful staff and great food! Best fish tacos!
The best fish and chips in the city. Portions are enormous and don't sacrifice taste for quantity.
Excellent attention, exquisite food !!!
Amazing Fish&Chips the best in the city! Will come back for more!!!
Delicious fish, friendly staff and overall a very good chip shop. We will be back for sure.
Great fish and chips and the guys that work there are very friendly.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is good. Not that exceptionally good. But it is worth the money. Dining area is small but has good vibe. There is an outside dining area as well.
Delicious food and great service
Best fish, great atmosphere
This gem was simply too good to last. We'll miss them!
Perfectly battered fish. Other places seem to put way to much. They offer other seafood dishes that I'd like to try. Will come back again!
Fantastic fish and chips! Healthy portions, great fish, wonderful atmosphere. What more could you ask for?
Excellent food, service was a little stuffy
Fantastic fish, likely the best I've had in Edmonton. Small portions, but worth the price.
Great service and amazing fish and chips. The fish was the best I’ve tried in Edmonton. I found the serving of fries to be a little small for what you would expect with fish and chips, but it was still more than enough.
Service slows down when it gets really busy, but the food is great, and staff friendly and great. They also have great veggie options, and I love their brussel sprouts.
Light crispy batter, fries were not salty, good music, friendly staff, and clean bathrooms are things I liked when I was there. The location is very close to the legislature grounds to have a bite after taking a walk around the winter lights.
Warm, friendly atmosphere with tasteful naval themed decor. They serve the biggest bowl of delicious clam chowder I have ever laid eyes on. Chowder had clams and mussels including shells to fish out, but it made for a pretty sight. All cocktails $6 after 8pm and the Ginger snap was a dangerously tasty concoction if you're into citrus flavor. Parking available on 109st.
Never been disappointed! Tasty fish, well battered and cooked. Thank you for the years of great food!
Food was amazing and staff was so friendly, wish they weren't closing
First time there. Fish was awesome quality. Staff very friendly in helping pick from the menu. Would go back for sure!
Best Fish and Chips ever. Great staff and huge portions. The vegetarian dishes are also fantastic. I highly recommend.
The fish is meh. Bland . It's overated.
Not much of a fish and chips fan, but this was pretty decent. Kind of bland which is to be expected. I loved their mussels though. The sauce their cooked in is so perfect and delicious. Sausage rolls were greasy and wasnt a fan. Get the mussels if you have the option, though.
While we waited for 15 mins for a table on Saturday night, our food came insanely fast and our server was excellent. My husband & I shared the red snapper and chips (on special that night), PEI mussels, brussels sprouts bubble & squeak and a cheddar biscuit. I also had a killer dark & stormy cocktail and we had banoffee pie for dessert. Everything was great and while the mussels were good, they weren't anything special so we'd probably not order them again. Also the decor is amazing, especially the back wall! Overall can't wait to come back or grab some fish & chips to take out.
I had the sole fish and chips. It was great.
Good food. Quick service.
Best fish and chips in the city! Always satisfies that craving.
Amazing fish and chips. Authentic fasting and awesome portions. Try it with the lemon Mayo to add that extra kick. Fish tasted fresh and delicious.
Very good fish and chips. Spicy cauliflower was good too. Chairs not very comfortable, especially the high ones. Parking can be an issue, but it is very near Grandin LRT stop.
The food was delicious. We had the tandoori cauliflower, calimari, mushy peas and sausage rolls for appitizers and all are very good. Boston blue fish was what we had for our main dish and was also very good. Service was friendly and fast. I would recommend this place if fish and chips is what you are after.
Delicious fish and chips. Haven't had haddock this good since the 80's in Sheffield. Terrific staff and clean friendly decor.
I honestly will not eat fish and chips anywhere else in Edmonton. Amazing fish always served hot and fresh. Servers are always pleasant even when very busy. I highly recommend you try this place!
Your basic fish & chip place. On the up side 4 selections of fish. Cozy little place.
When you venture out after months and months of not going to restaurants or patios, you need to choose wisely. The food is above reproach, and the service is beyond amazing. 10/10 would survive a pandemic just to visit again.
Nice smell good food a little bit pricey but there is a lot of vriety of see food
Fish was absolutely delightful. I tried the haddock and sole. With a little curry sauce was the bomb. Drink menu is a little too hipster.
Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Food is also fresh and delicious. A must try for fish n chips lovers.
Love this place. I only have fish here now!
Fresh fish and crisp chips. You can taste the love and attention to detail they put in their food. Great decor. Amazing value for money. Good draught beer selection. Kids eat Free on Tuesday!
Delicious food and excellent service. The portions are also huge!
Great food, great atmosphere great tunes and great service. Loved it!
Loved it! Portions were good, and the look and feel of the place is comfortable. Lunch time is a bit hectic, so get there around 11:30 to avoid the rush. It's counter service during lunch, and servers are there for dinner hours. UPDATE (Nov 29, 2019): I regrettably want to change my review and remove a star. We came in for lunch today. I had the "Catch of the Day", and it was a bit disappointing. I always comeback to Grandin because there was always quality in the fish: batter was light and fish was flaky and fluffy. Today's cod was greasy, and the batter was "chewy"...almost burnt. About 20% of the fries tasted moderately burned to burned to a crisp. Where's the quality control? Sorry guys!
Very disappointing experience. The only reason I even gave this two stars was based on the fact that my partner’s fish and chip meal was reasonably good. I on the other hand, ordered the Oyster Po’ Boy, which I was really looking forward to as I love fried oysters and there are not many places that serve them. It was a huge disappointment. There were five or six miniscule deep fried oysters, smaller than my thumbnail even with the batter on, sitting like tiny garnishes on top of a soft roll filled with lettuce sopping in dressing and a few cherry tomato halves (which were also bigger and more plentiful than the oysters). Needless to say, I couldn’t even taste the oysters amid the much bigger bun and excessively dressed lettuce. The service was also lacking, with a server who would only look at and address one of us, forgot our waters (but not the beer), and never asked how the food was. I should have said something about my meal at the time; but hey, as I said, I was not asked how things were. We will not be returning.
Really great service staff and our drinks and food arrived incredibly quickly. The fish was perfect and you get a pretty large piece. The calamari was cooked perfectly and very tasty as were the mushy peas. The pricing is fair particularly when you factor in the quality of the food and service. Parking was easy to find but I suspect it was a bit of luck as the area is quite busy during the day. Overall I highly recommend this place for anyone including kids.
Deep fried food poisoning, toxic vapid service staff, and Mcdonald level cooks.
Great. Especially if you are gluten free
The fish and chips was very nice. The service was friendly and quick. Defiantly is a nice place to go with a few friends.
The best fish n chips in Edmonton
I love their fried eggplant!! The staff are quite attentive. The fries portion is huge- enough to share between 2-4 people I would say. The fried cauliflower without the sauce is also another good vegan option to order at this cozy little diner. The only thing that could make this better was if there was a sauce/coleslaw that was dairy-free to go with it all.
The staff were great, and followed Covid rules! A great and safe place to get takeout.
Charming ambience, chic locale and very friendly staff, kid friendly if you get in before 5 otherwise wait times can be long and the seating cramped. Food was a bit of a let down, the haddock was banal at best and the catfish was inedible. Our waitress was understanding and compted the dish. As an experience, it flies under the radar as barely memorable and likely not repeatable.
Service
Phenomenal service from a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Excellent price points for everything on their menu. Fantastic selection of craft and commercial beers all in a nicely themed brightly-lit restaurant. If I had a complaint it would be that the mud c was a bit too loud, but a simple request solved that. It was the first time I had been there, but by no means the last.
Good food. Friendly staff. The venue looks really good. It's nice that they have a fish of the day.
What a catch the fish was as good as any we had on the coast Best in Alberta!
Fantastic! Gets busy at lunch. Better to get there early.
Hands down, the best fish and chips I've had in my life. The batter was so flavorful yet not too heavy or soggy. The Haddock was perfectly cooked and was a huge piece. Highly recommend.
Overall pretty good! Had take out halibut fish and chips. Big piece of halibut, but maybe too big... fries were decent!
Okay first, food is amazing. Like seriously best fish and chips, ever! But I'm only giving this place 3 stars cause the service was sooooo bad. There was two servers, a male, and a female (short, with pixie cut). She was SO rude, I couldn't help but stare at her. There was an elderly man asking questions about the restaurant and she was so short with him and cold I couldn't believe it. I felt so bad for him cause all he was doing was asking questions... and even with us, she was short, so so so cold. When she handed us our food, she didn't even look at us or smile, which I think serves should be glowing with smiles, and friendliness. Well not her. And when she handed us the debit machine to pay, she didn't even say a word to us. I just thought it was so rude. But I would eat here again for the food but didn't not enjoy the service at all.
Ordered mine for delivery. Presentation was good but food was not seasoned at all. Got fish and chips, fish burger and Mac and Cheese. Found that none of it had good flavor
Food was delicious, I had the Haddock and chips. It felt worth it for the price. One rather large piece of fish and a decent amount of fries for about $16. Service was good, our waitress came around a few times during our meal to check on us, and was diligent when asked for the bill.
best fish n chips ive found in edmonton. glad yall embraced the name change !
Excellent fish and chips. Service was fast. Will definitely be returning.
Great food and service. Go
Hands down the best fish and chips in the city, if you have a more refined palette and metropolitan taste. I say this not to put down more authentic British fish and chips places, but this place has non-greasy crispy fish and chips which is what I like. The one piece is always enough for me because they are gigantic. Their sauces are all super good from the tartar sauce to the curry sauce. And omg they're chowders are all amazing! I usually go for it there clam chowder or now seafood chowder And I love it. But the last time I went I tried there seafood curry and I felt like I was in London. It was so good!
Had the Cod n Chips, fresh oysters, and mussels. I'm not sure if it was just me who just so happened to got a bad dish or if all their "Fish" are supposed to be on the overfried side. I found it to be tough and starts to feel dry in the inside. The "chips" was also over fried to a point it feels hard to bite into. However the Mussels was well cooked and seasoned just right, but a lot of sand. The fresh oysters was also fantastic (but that's just a good batch and required no prep and cooking skills).
Such a suprising good restaurant! Niche! Decoration is amazing! A real North Sea coast feeling! The fish & chips is a must!
Very filling and great tasting. Friendly service
Low customer service, 3 different people served our table and the one who brought food didn't know who ordered what so it was a bit of hassle. Presentation of the food was sloppy. Very low quality fries for a fish and chips place. Won't go there again.
Fish and chips were delicious! One piece is definitely a good size portion. The samosas were good but definitely snack sizes.
Saw it as we were about to leave the legislature grounds. Happy we stopped in as the food was very good. We had a nice selection from the menu. Fish and chips, chowder, Mac and cheese and a salad. Happy with all the dishes! Will definitely come back and visit again.
Our favorite fish n chips place in town. Friendly staffs. Food is fast and yummy!!
Visited today just before the lunch rush based on the Edmonton Sun's review - for Fish & Chips - the chips must have been cooked yesterday and held in an oven over night. Worse ever. The salad that came was tasteless. The fish was good but for $16 bucks - not good enough.
First time here heard about the Clam Chowder it is amazing!!! Service is excellent. Will be back
This neat place has fresh, crisp chips and perfectly fried fish. The basa was light and fluffy with tasty batter. Would definitely recommend.
Good food amazing service
Great food, great service!
Delicious food! Would certaintly revisit. Blew me away with the seafood chowder.
Best chips I've ever had, they were still crispy at the end of the meal. Offered salmon as their catch of the day which is my favorite and had a great Quidi Vidi Hefe on tap.
Great place to eat; great food, nice ambience. Paired with a trip on the street car it made a great outing all members (ages) of the family enjoyed.
An fantastic and serene like dream of of an experience and I ain't feeding ya horse $£/ either! I occasionally go every few months randomly, AND SOME HOW! The quality of the food and service, environment IS ALWAYS on the ball and efficient! Good job guys ???? keep up the great work!
Pretty tasty basket
Amazing fish n chips. Several choices of fish, most places just offer you fish n chips
Decent fish emporium. Service was decent.
Best fish and chips ever.
Some of the best fish and chips in YEG!
Great amount of choice, tasty food, fascinating decor--a well-rounded place to eat! You must try it at least once!
A wonderful dining experience! Flavours throughout the menu are incredible. Many gluten free options are available. Pricing is very reasonable. Service is friendly and accommodating. Cannot praise highly enough. We will return very soon and very often.
Got the haddock and chips. HOLY CHRIST WAS IT GOOD BRO. Rare to find fish that tastes that good in AB. Couldn't recommend more.
Great place. Lots of seaside decor and friendly staff. Patio was terrible for noise pollution being beside a main road but food was delicious. Had the lobster roll and it was yummy and fulfilling despite it's size. I had the Birthday cake and tasted as if it came out of the freezer. Public wifi available. Bathroom had some great decor.
Service and food where great, will definitely be back.
great place to pop by for a quick bit and a beer. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone
Friendly staff, hip vibe, and fresh food.
What a quaint little gem in the heart of downtown. The service was fabulous and the food was so good. The portions were big and we'd definitely go for fish and chips again!
The restaurant caters to people with allergies. We had gluten free fish and chips. The portions were large and plentiful. Excellent experience.
I've always loved this place. Definitely fav fish joint in the city. My pops was in town for a week and I took him here once and he wanted to go back 3 more times while in town. To quote the old guy "this is the best clam chowder i've ever had".
Just discovered this place recently, and this is now my new "go to" fish 'n chip place.
Ordered a piece of haddock, moules and frites, and a lobster roll (substituted fries for brussel sprouts - so good!). Haddock was good, lightly battered and a good size. Lobster roll was moist and fresh. Mussels were delicious and not shrunken. Great service. Only giving 4 stars because there was a small piece of the hard exoskeleton in my lobster roll. Otherwise, great experience. Highly recommend.
Pretty good F&C. Coleslaw and tartar sauce are also made well.
Pretty good F&C. Coleslaw and tartar sauce are also made well.
The food was very good and there is enough variety to make more them just a fish n chip shop.
Service was friendly and most helpful.
Good sized portions. Chill atmosphere. The haddock was delicious and came with a nice coleslaw and yummy tartar sauce. The fries were too salty, though.
Love the unique twists on the menu here, and the room is very cool.
Decent fish and chips. Not bad pricing, nice surroundings for a fish and chip restaurant.
Pricey and fish is just ok
I'm happy to see such places opening in Edmonton. I read the reviews about small portions and was a little bit worried, but I think they responded well to it. I found the portions just right and was stuffed when I left. The fish and chips were good; I had the cod and red snapper (special of the day). I may have over-ordered but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Open kitchen concept is a nice touch.
The place is a little small, they serve fries not chips but can't complain about the fish good stuff and the chowder is too die the best I've ever had ,this place is my first choice for fish and chips.
Great fish and chips stop. If stopping in on a weekday lunch hour be prepared that it can be busy though service is fast. Out door patio for the nice summer days.
The atmosphere is nice, the design is cohesive and I liked the very nautical vibe. The food was mediocre at best. The fish and the batter had no salt and I ordered the halibut and it was dry and overcooked. The coleslaw tasted bland and watery. The portions were decent but not worth the money we spent considering the fish was drier than something you get from the frozen section at the grocery store. The samosas were basic and the sour cream dip that was served with it seemed out of place. The highlight of the meal was the deep fried cauliflower. I would come back here for 4 plates of that alone! Perfectly battered, cooked and seasoned. And the curry sauce that it comes with was amazing. Change the name to Grandin Cauliflower because that was the star dish!
The batter was perfect ! Great service fresh fish !
Really tight space and it can get confusing if you are staying or getting takeout, but eventually when you do get the food, it is amazing. Lots of options, even vegetarian options. Not really a place to go if you want to talk because it can get so loud, which is a shame because the interior decor is pretty cool.
Loved the cod and chips ???????? Cocktails were delicious too
Fantastic food and great service
Used to be better when the restaurant opened and for a while following. Fries were stale and fish was very oily. Don't think I'll go back
Amazing!! Line moved fast but was worth the wait we had traditional fish and chips but we are definitely going back to try additional menu items.
Food and service are great. Big portions and affordable prices. Favorite fish and chips.
Absolutely lovely atmosphere and decorating. They clearly took their theme all the way, sea to prairies. Take a good look at the wallpaper! Lovely attention to detail. Beyond that, the food is great. Added to this, you can get the option to pan fry your fish (I know I know - but sometimes you need to lower the fat). The fries are also exactly what you would expect and is super tasty. The tartar sauce is slightly different than what I’ve had before, less dill-y than usual, but I liked it as a personal preference. As for parking, the residential streets west of the building have free parking.
Damn fine fish and chips. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly right up there (and I'm from a coast, so the fact that I'm not ripping into a landlocked seafood joint says something.) We ate on the patio, and weren't that hungry. A one piece meal was large enough to split, so fear not. And there was no judgement from the staff either. If anything tainted the social aspect, it was the backwoods, newfie bumpkin I had in tow. Surround yourself with quality people, people, or you suffer. The tartar sauce was on point. Solidly adhering to the tartart tradition, but with something I can't name that gave it just a slight extra zing. The beer batter was light and thin, easy to cleave with your fork and not so insular that the fish had to be overcooked. This was a pleasant surprise and speaks to a fry cook that knows his stuff. Had to fetch my own malt vinegar though; malt vinegar should be ubiquitous in a fish and chips joint, not the odd vinegar out. Hell, malt vinegar should be everywhere that sells french fries, but that's my own issue I suppose. Maybe I'll just start carrying it with me. We ate on the "patio", a roped off piece of concrete, so I don't get to appraise the ambiance, but the food alone makes this place well worth the visit.
Its good, portions are on the small size. Service is good.
Best fish and chips in town (The Hubs is English so he's certainly picky) I would also highly recommend their Caesar Salad. I didn't give them 5 stars only because their "chips" are more fry-like than real chips.
Fish was amazing, side dishes were not good but service was great. Parking was difficult.
Well this is not my first time at Grandin and not my second time either I like to give places at least another chance the fish was okay this time around, and service was better than usual but ... mehh Edmonton's Fish &Chip scene needs to improve!!! :/
A great addition to downtown Edmonton and a refreshing prairie take on East Coast and British fish and chips. Having grown up on the BC coast and in England I was not let down. Loving the custom printed liners as a throwback to my chippies in Yorkshire with the newsprint wrapper. The food - The fish is available in basa, cod, haddock and a fish of the day. You have a choice of a nice light batter (gluten free batter also available) or panfried. You can switch up your meal by replacing the chips with a vegetarian take on bubble and squeak, steamed veggies, loaded mashed potatoes, or other many options. The mushy peas, a favorite of mine were perfect and fluffy. We tried the chimichurri sauce it was a perfect accompaniment to the pan fried fish and steamed veggies. If you're not a big fish fan, there is a hotdog (from local deli) and fried chicken option (same delicious fried chicken as the common serves). We tried the manila clams, and mussels and the oysters and still have quite a few more things to try before we work our way through the menu. For dessert we had banoffee pie (banana, caramel) which was rich dense and delicious, there are two gluten-free dessert options too. The drinks - well curated small beer menu and delicious rum based cocktails. I was excited to order my niece a Shirley Temple and so happy to see the little swords I loved so much as a kid skewering the maraschino cherry. The space - comfortable, fun with some local artist touches. The turnover moved quite quickly and despite being very busy on their opening week we didn't wait long for a table. The Common team has done it again, providing a well curated space with a new spin on an old favourite.
Great service and good food!
Super super good, best in the city for sure. Fresh fish too! Great idea
If you find this helpful, give it a thumbs up! Customer WiFi: GrandinFC Washrooms: yes Power outlets: no Pet friendly: no Parking: limited Street Food/Drinks: outstanding food! The seafood chowder was perfect for a chilly day and it warmed us right up! The flavor and consistency was spot on and even the biscuit was nice and warm! You could taste that the onions they used were real which is an odd thing to say but honestly the first soup I've had in a long time where you can actually taste the ingredient. The fish was nicely battered. Nice and light so it did not overpower the taste of the fish and the portion size was pretty good too! Fries were cut from real potato's you can tell and I actually did not mind the presentation. Service: our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable also very easy to talk to. We were always looked after and drinks never empty. She also knew the menu well which shows and was able to recommend things on the spot Atmosphere: kind of looks like a fresh fish market when you first walk in which is pretty cool. then when you get into the main dining area there is lots of little trinkets here and there to keep your attention. I love the use of Edison bulbs as well as a lot of fisherman themed items throughout the restaurant. If you found this helpful, let me know by leaving a thumbs up!
Great please to eat fish and chips. Fair price for the quality and quantity of food you get. Staff is very friendly. The place has a great ambiance and decoration.
Haddock and Mushy Peas are the best. Nicest staff and great beer. Can't go wrong!
Possibly an overlooked seafood experience in downtown Edmonton. The food was super and the restaurant was packed.
August 2021 update: Eggplant off the menu, RIP. Not much for vegans now. Previous review: An odd place to find a vegan meal, but they have eggplant and cauliflower on their menu. Yes, it's deep fried in the same oil as fish, but if you're ok with that then give it a try. Eggplant is delicious and the batter is vegan. The cauliflower is also delicious but get it without the curry sauce. It's a once in a while treat, and what a treat it is!
The first couple times were beyond phenomenal... Crispy fries, yummy tartar, and buttery fish. This last time however didn't quite liveup to the earlier dates but still very good.
Amazing food and such nice staff, very funny and caring people. Great portion sizes as well!
Huge servings of THE BEST fish and chips in the city. By far. They go by weight so sometimes you get 2 pieces of fish instead of 1 massive one, which personally I love because their batter is to die for. The chips are great, especially with a side of house made jalapeno mayo. Great atmosphere and always amazing service whenever we go. I work out town and my wife and I always make a point in heading here during my days offs. The coleslaw on the side could use a bit of a pick me up as I find it bland, but that is my only issue. And something trivial like that does not warrant bringing this amazing place down even a half star. Love coming here and will continue loving it!
As far as Edmonton goes it's a good peace of fish and chips. The service is fast and the tartar sauce is interesting. You would be hard pressed to find a better one. The types of fish are different than your cod and halibut but the Haddock is the top fish. They could really use a better quality ketchup though. Maybe when make one in house.
Best fish I ever had
Very great place to eat. Fish is absolutely yummy with homemade batter. So good. The people are very polite and friendly
Great service, food, atmosphere, beer, and chips! Will return!
Best fish and chips in town bar none.
Best fish n chips in town! Prime 109th location, good vibes, great staff, excellent food!
Got the kale caesar salad and it was $13. Not worth two bucks. Simply just lecture. The sauce tasted like mayo. No lemon. Disappointed. Everything else was great..
Superb coleslaw, fried cod and hush puppies. We will definitely be going back.
Really good on all ends, servers have a personalities, the food is good, drinks are well made..
I’ve been going back to this restaurant since it first opened, not only is the fish amazing but every time I’ve been back the service has been fantastic, highly recommend this location to anyone.
Best fries I have had in a long time.
Food was excellent. Service was lacking, must be her first service job.
We had a fantastic time on the patio and absolutely by far the Best Fish and Chips. Portions where a healthy size . Edmonton is fortunate to have this place
Enjoyed the Fish and chips so much. The service was great as well.
Service was excellent and the food was brought to our table right away. Very nice aesthetic inside and it just a lovely place to go with friends. Would definitely eat here again as I had the eggplant and chips and it tasted great. Not much parking so you will definitely want to carpool when going with friends.
Great service, good food.
Amazing food! Best fish n chips (and I've been to England) by far!
The batter is too thin and not crispy enough. It would make more sense to have smaller pieces of fish and give 2 instead of one. Its okay for a landlocked province but blowers and grafton on whyte is better.
Great price for the portion size.....really tasty. Highly recommend, I will be back.......
Fish is cooked the way I like it, good job. And thank you
The best fish and chips in Edmonton, hands down. Always fresh and their friends are to die for.
Great fish, great chips, homemade tartar sauce, malt vinegar, great setting, even fancy batter-coated deep fried anchovies on top of the Caesar salad.
Great fish and chips. Not greasy at all.
Excellent batter, Haddock and Chips take-out. Good Cole slaw and tarter sauce is okay.
Great fish 'n' chips, good beer and friendly staff. It was my first time there but I plan to go often. Would happily recommend it to any fish 'n' chip lover.
I absolutely love coming here with the family! If you're looking for fish and chips it really does not get any better than this. I am in love with the moist crunchy texture of the fish here and their tartar sauce is amazing. The place itself looks very upscale and food gets to your plate very quick. Would recommend!
Service was meh, food was meh, all around meh...
unfortunately my experience was not so great. we arrived and stood waiting for a table for more than 5 minutes, when I asked if I should seat myself they told me, yeah, anywhere you want. Fish was more batter than fish, coleslaw had so much liquid the fries were sobbing wet. As for the positives the fries that were dry were fabulous... and the haddock wasn't as bad as the snapper. the atmosphere was nice, and the restaurant clean. Highly recommend the lemonade and Ice Tea.
Was meh. Food wasn't anything to get excited about. But the real letdown was the cashier, who spent more time wandering away from us while we were ordering, that all hope of getting it right was gone. She didn't get it right.
Fantastic Fish and Chips, one of the best I have had in Canada. This place is quaint, well priced and very friendly. The batter on the fish is crispy, not oily and doesn't subtract from the taste of the fish at all. The chips are great as well, a nice crunch to them. Prices for fish and chips depend on the type of fish, but range from $12-16. They also serve kids meals, other seafood meals, and alcoholic beverages. Great for everyone.
Was very disappointed with the most stale and toasted hot dog bun for the Lobster & crab roll. And the fries were not cooked through. Very, very disappointing to say the least
I have to rate this 5 stars cause my brother works there occasionally
It was the best fish and chips we had in Edmonton in long time ! The food was great , the server Rayan qas great ! The price ok. We will go back ! We had de fisu and chips, haddock.
It was good the fish and chips were not a greasy as some other F & C restaurants and service was fine. Unfortunately a twist tie was found in the wife's coleslaw but the restaurant was very apologetic and took her entire meal plus her beer off the bill
We ordered the happy hour special, fish and chips. Instead of chips I got the tandoori cauliflower. The happy hour fish is Boston blue. The fish was an absolute let down, my partner and I wondered where the fish was, it was like eating fried batter with a tiny amount of fish. I could barely taste the fish. The tandoori cauliflower was good but I didnt taste any of the tandoori flavor. Overall disappointing, I have had much better fish and chips elsewhere.
Absolutely amazing Haddock and Chips! Even the tartar sauce was amazing, and I usually don't like tartar sauce. Really cool atmosphere, and has outside seating as well.
I was very impressed with the whole visit. The atmosphere was casual and cozy, while still feeling a little upscale. The staff were friendly, efficient, and enthusiatic. The menu was incredibly reaosnably priced. Their featured fish was snapper, which was delightful! the batter was crisp and light, and the fish wasn't greasy. My partner got the eggplant and chips. While they didn't have a lot of vegetarian options (which is to be expected at a fish shop) the eggplant and chips was incredible and the portions were huge! It was so good I might get it myself next time. We also got a side of Mac and Cheese which was by far the best side mac and cheese I have ever had. I will definetely be returning.
Absolutely delicious fish 'n' chips! Every component was great. Fish, fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce were all amazing, as was the service.
Absolutely incredible, some of the best fish and chips I've had in my life. Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, and friendly faces; I can not speak too highly of this place!
Excellent food and service. Only needed HP Sauce to be the best in the city!
Best fish and chips!! Their desserts are amazing too. The chocolate Neptune is to die for and I think it's GF. They so have GF options for their fish.
Dinner
Nice fish n chips place downtown. A bit pricey considering the quality, found the fish a bit greasy. Decent enough though I guess considering the limited options.
Just tried this place today and LOVED it!!!!!
Great food served up really fast! If you like fish and chips this place is for you! Also has gluten free which makes my family super happy!!
Ordered takeout. Amazing service. I think our guy's name was Trevor. Appreciate it dude!
It was great service but there was no seasoning in the fish, the chowder was so pasty I could roll it into ball. My diet Pepsi was flat. My son said his chicken tasted like soap. Being form the east coast I have had great fish and chips..but unfortunately this place will not be on my recommendation list.
Great food, convenient location and cocktails are reasonably priced too!
Great fish and chips. Definitely the best I have in a long time.
Great quality food. The fish wasn't greasy, which is a huge plus in terms of quality. The portions were large and the price was really good for what you got. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Am definitely going again.
Love that everything is made to order! Note lunch is served cafeteria style while dinner is full service!
Nice first experience here! My husband and I had the haddock & chips (he got the poutine). The fish was well cooked (although I prefer a slightly crispier batter myself), tasty tartar sauce, the fries were alright for me but one unexpected item that shone through for us was the side of coleslaw. My husband usually doesn’t like coleslaw and he ate all of his and I wish i had a bit more served with the dish! Service was good. Nice environment. Large portion for the price.
Ordered the “Lobster Rolls” which came with French fries. To the contrary of the name it’s just one lobster roll which is made on a toasted hot dog bun. Being from the East Coast I am a huge seafood fan and have trouble finding quality seafood in Edmonton, AB. The lobster used was quite mushy and not the consistency expected and very very salty- I would say unpalatable in terms of texture and taste. The French fries or “chips” were as expected back home but with a little too much salt. They tasted extra crunchy like they were over cooked but it was better than them being soggy. Overall I was really disappointed because I’ve had their fish and chips before and was happy. If you’re looking for good lobster rolls I would check out Bowers and Grafton instead as they consistency taste good although are more expensive and smaller in portion.
Favourite spot for fish n' chips in the city. Love their choice of fish and excellent chowder.

Had the Haddock, really nice. Fries were surprisingly very good too. I will be back.
Pros: - Good service - Coleslaw - Tartar Sauce Cons: - Small portions (Haddock was tiny) - Small space - Curry sauce was cold (weird) I enjoyed the food and the service was decent but Docherty's in Spruce Grove is better
I tried Grandin Fish & Chips for the first time after seeing them on instagram. I wanted to support local and thought lets try it. I placed my order through the phone directly with the restaurant. I ordered the 2 person meal and an order of the fish tacos. My experience over the phone was simple enough. I arrived to pick up the order - when I entered the restaurant I was not acknowledged by the staff. As I waited to be greeted another group entered the restaurant. The server who was packing the orders immediately asks them, if they would like take-out or to be seated. I stood there and just waited. Finally the server looks at me and asks how he can help me. I'm not sure why I was ignored - maybe it was the fact that I was a woman or a person of color? I told him I was there to pick up my order - he grabs my order that had been sitting on the counter since my arrival and rings me in. I left the restaurant feeling disrespected but ultimately I wasn't going to let that ruin my experience. I was going to give the food a fair shot. Upon arriving at home and unpacking the order I noticed immediately that we were missing the fish tacos. I tried to call the restaurant - there was no answer. I spent the next 3 hours making 17 phone calls and leaving 1 voicemail. Finally, the restaurant answered my call half an hour prior to closing at 7:30pm. I picked up my order at 4:45pm. I spoke to Piper. At first she apologized about the missed tacos - but when I went on to explain to her how I was treated by the staff when I arrived (being ignored and other customers being helped before me) she got very defensive and said they were trying their best and would continue to do their best...okay? She then tried to end the call - to which I said...so will you be resolving this? She told me I could come in to pick up the order of tacos tonight or they would put a credit on file for me. I told her I would go with the credit I guess? But to be honest, I have no plans to go back. The whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. As far as the food goes - it was okay? For the price I really can't justify spending $74 on 2 pieces of fish, fries, a salad, 2 cans of coke and a piece of cake. But maybe I feel that way because part of my order was missing? If I'm being honest, I wasn't even able to enjoy the food. I really hate to write this review for a local business - but I gave them the opportunity to make it right when I called them. I understand that we are in a pandemic and restaurants are trying their best - that is why I am supporting local, but to completely disrespect a customer and get defensive when they are trying to provide feedback isn't acceptable in my books.
Reminds me of home!!!
Fine place for fish and chips since it's their speciality. Limited selection of beverages. The food is prepared well and the portions are quite good. It's a place I'd return to maybe once a year or two.
Great food, great service and lovely space.
food was cold, over priced and portions were small
Fantastic new restaurant. Be prepared for a lineup if you go for dinner especially on a weekend. There is a great selection on the menu with a daily fish as well. The chips and tartar sauce are delicious. Batter on the fish is light and crisp and not greasy. We will definitely be returning! Edit: I am dropping the score from 5 to 3 stars upon dining here a second time. The quality has gone down since our first visit. The menu has changed and there was no cod on the menu anymore. The fries have changed and were quite soggy and not crispy like they once were. The batter on the fish was undercooked and a bit doughy. Service was still good and friendly. Sad to see the quality of the food decline.
So tasty and gluten free options were awesome.
I do love fish and chips and this was the best that I've found so far in the city
Terrific little spot! Great beer selection, groovy atmosphere, staff are great, and food is lovely.
Great place i spoke with Trevor due to missing food and alchohol from a skip the dishes ordered. He contacted skip on my behalf and got a return for me. I ordered food directly due to getting tired of issues with skip. The price was half of what I would pay through skip and due to not having enough of the cider I ordered he substituted it with a bottle of champagne with bunch or party hats and streamers to bid a due to long year, free of charge. Seriously if you want some good fish and chips and great service go here!
Excellent fish and chips!! Having grown up on "fish suppers" in Scotland I appreciate the care and attention that's put into their dishes. Batter is crispy and delicious, but thin enough that you still taste and enjoy the fresh fish. Chips (fries) are perfectly cooked, and the gravy is very good. Love the (house made) tartar sauce and coleslaw. Potato salad is excellent (with jalapeños!), as are the Brussel sprouts and Beet salad. I'm cheap, otherwise I'd give them 5 stars.
Bland fish and batter. Great looking space and good service but the food was underwhelming.
Lost track of our Father's day reservation. Food was wonderful in flavour. Corrected pough boy sandwich was the hit of the table.
Have eaten here before but much like every other place really good to start then down hill . Ordered take out ...one order was completely wrong and literally the smallest piece of fish and hand full of chips basically a kids meal. Didn't get the dip for the tandoor cauliflower which is actually why I order it and I could swear our food was dropped everything was to one side in the container and all mixed up.. won't be making them a priority to eat anymore foresure ...very disappointing Update we ordered again but phoned direct and was super good don't order through skip
Outstanding! They offer gluten free/celiac friendly here. Service was great. Flavour was great. I attended during a heat wave and the restaurant had no AC but the atmosphere, cider, and tunes greatly compensated for it ???? I had such a good time.
Superb fish and chips; friendly service.
We heard they have great fish and chips, and they do. It was our fist time but won't be the last. Great staff.
