This place WAS the best fish & chips in Calgary. However, ever since new management took over , their prices went up and the quality of the food took a dive (typical story). Ate there with the family yesterday evening, which was the third time since the new feel/menu. The fish was overly greasy and the fries bland - in fact that is the problem, the food lacks taste. Service was above average, but that in itself cannot sustain a loyal following. Even the 'shark' confection that my son would receive has been replaced with an uninspiring blue thing that he would not eat. After two decades of regular patronage, I am saddened to say that Pelican Pier is now moving to my B, maybe C list.
Great seafood, very busy
Amazing food. Overall experience was great. Restaurant has a great feel and friendly service that makes for a great dinner
This is the best seafood place in Calgary. (And so cute, decor is on point). Lightly battered fish and chips oh my gawd so good. Fresh fish market. Frozen fish freezers (salmon, haddock, mahi mahi, lobster, Alaska crab legs, shrimp, scallops all good and sustainably sourced)
Very good food, OK prices, friendly, competent staff.
Very friendly staff and super good food
Hustled away this very old venue looked rugged and that's where you could hit the jackpot!! The service was good and the only the girl in the restaurant serving, so she as calm and had a good understanding of the menu. Portions were massive..I mean massive..not to my liking as I look for flavours and not quantity, however yyc loves quantity. Battered fish was tender and moist and crispy to dig in with a crunch. The kilo of fries put me off. Fishcakes were tender and juicy and the sauce was a good blend to go with it. A decent place for fish and chips
Great ambiance, good food. Love the atmosphere
Great place to get fish and chips.
Tuesday nights are great again! I haven't seen "the sisters" in a while but was very happy to be served by them this last Tuesday. Those girls make the Pier special. Thanks Ladies!
Been there more than once and the good quality and service is constant. Will go back for sure.
Absolutely delicious????????????????
Great place to eat seafood.
Was good except coleslaw tasted like fridge
Big portions. Instead of just fries, you can have half salad, or chowder. Good service. And nice fish, seafood market.
Fantastic fish and chips, great service, delicious crab cakes, and a key lime pie that'll always have you saying "yes please" to desert.
Food was amazing!!! Service was fantastic!
We eat here a lot. The best seafood. The delux chowder is the best.
This restaurant was quite busy when we got there, so when we were sat there were dirty tables surrounding us throughout 90% of our visit. We ordered 2 appetizers the deep fried oysters and popcorn shrimp. I enjoyed the oysters but the shrimp wasn’t great. We ordered halibut fish and chips to share as our main dish. I enjoyed this, there was a lot of fish and not a ton of breading. The server tried her best during this busy time, she was alone. I found the prices normal - approx $12 for appys and you always pay more for Halibut (it’s worth it in my opinion) I think the main was about $30 ish
We hadn't been here in ages, but decided to stop in. It was an excellent experience all around. The food was hot and delicious; the service was perfect. We will be back soon!
Best fish and chips I had in 15 years
Great restaurant and amazing services
Fresh delicious thin batter fish!
The food here is fresh and delicious served promptly with Friendly Smiles definitely would recommend this place
I find it's a bit over priced. The meal was delicious though. I had 8 shrimp with a little size of steam vegetables and lots of rice. $22.50 is too much. A meal like this I would pay $17 to $18....
This place has a really cute atmosphere. It’s decorated like you’re at a pier and there’s lots to look at. The service is very friendly and pretty fast. They also sell seafood for you to take home market style. The food is okay, pretty good for Calgary but nothing compared to coastal seafood restaurants. A bit on the pricey side as well.
Love this place for its chowder and key lime pie. All other foods are amazing too.
Great quality and proportions! And fantastic customer service
The fish and chips reminded my boyfriend of the ones he grew up eating in the UK. The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant was clean and especially the bathroom. This was our first visit and we will be coming back.
Great seafood
Really good fish and sea food. Key lime pie is one of the best in the city
Best fish and chips I have had in Calgary
Excellent food.
I come here for fish and chips. The fish is battered lightly and not caked on. The fries are done nicely, not too thinly or thickly. Only complaint is the service is sometimes really good or not so good. I will still continue to come here though, for the consistent food.
Homie and cute seafood place. The best place in Calgary to have seafood for sure! Desserts are often home made, they also sell prepackaged and vacuumed meals. I love the crab patties, they’re my favourite!
Amazing food! Clean environment! never disappointed when we come :)
Very good place for fish and chips! The service was very good and the the staff made our birthday event awesome. :) We will go back again most definitely.
Found this quaint little fish and chip eatery while in Calgary. Very nice seaward decor with about 60 seats. The server was extremely friendly and informative when asked a question concerning the type of fillets. AMAZING battered fish! Cod for my friend and the recommended Pollack for myself. Soft, flaky fish with a light, crispy batter. Very good. Coconut pie was just as good. Crust was light and the coconut filling was perfectly flavorful, not too sweet. The portions were plentiful. We ate here for lunch but quite sure the dinner period would be busy. Parking is limited to a little strip mall so it may be a challenge. All in all, a definite place to go to enjoy some nice seafood.
Crab cakes were kind of soggy as was the calamari however the soup was fantastic
Excellent food and service.
Fresh cut fries...hot and crisp...cod was ok...service good and a relaxing down easy feel atmosphere.
The food was great and so was the service. Thank you
The absolute best place in Calgary for fish and chips. And everything else seafood. Try the mixed chowder. Sooo good.
Lots of grilled and deep fried options.
Best seafood in Calgary hands down!
Best fish and chips in the city!! Portion sizes are awesome and prices are good for how much you get. I prefer coming here over Joey's.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! The worst fish (halibut) and chips I’ve ever had. Over cooked, soggy, and placed in a polystyrene container (not even in any type of paper). They actually wanted to charge us $30 (!!!) for the halibut meal, but the DoorDash app had it listed for $24, so we were told we were “lucky” to get it for that price. The filets were large yet very thin. I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t even halibut. They were too tough and rubbery to even tell. We ordered the coconut shrimp, which I’m positive were the frozen ones from Costco. The tartar sauce was the cheap, store bought kind. The gravy was obviously the prepackaged powered type. Ordered a Coke and they sent a Pepsi. Pelican Pier should be ashamed of their food. Disgusting In every way imaginable.
My husband is from England and we had been struggling to find a good fish and chips place to eat. We tried a few and either the fish was tough or the batter was too thick. Pelican pier through is outstanding! The cod is a must, tender and flaky and perfect. I tried the pollock and it didn’t compare. I haven’t tried the haddock or halibut though. The Caesar salad is also great. The seafood chowder was out of this world, perfect consistency and flavour. The cream pie is amazing and tastes so light!
Very good seafood. The crab cakes are such a tasty entry.
Good food, reasonable prices, attentive staff, and nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy a meal.
Very nice
My mother worked at a seafood restaurant and a bus stop diner back in the day, so I've always had a love for cozy little restaurants with comfort food and a no-nonsense kind of meal. Craving some fish and chips, we decided to get some takeout from Pelican Pier. I'm happy to say that it was a positive experience. I ordered the Haddock and chips. The fish was fried perfectly without feeling too heavy and greasy and there was a generous helping of fries. I only docked a star because I was hoping there would be a little more fish for the moderate price. I think that's actually a good thing as the fish was so good that I wished I had a little more to savour! Either way, I am looking forward to trying the other types of fish they have when the craving comes.
Amazing seafood. Dine in and frozen seafood market.
I took my father today, I ordered Halibut, it was awful, the batter was no better, skimpy, possibly 6 oz. at most. Totally tasteless, the chips were bland, covered them in salt and malt vinegar, and they were still bland. $50.00 for cod and chips and hailbut and chips and 1 coffee. I would willingly pay this if it were good.
Fish and chips was good! Ordered take out and it was super quick. Definitely recommend.
Excellent food
Been going there for years and the food has been amazing and the service top-notch
This place is definitely a gem in Calgary, the service was great, the atmosphere small and comfortable. Lets talk about the food though, I LOVE seafood and this place delivered. I had PEI mussels that were tender and super tasty, my partner had the deluxe clam chowder which had huge shrimp and scallops. The food was hot and flavorful exactly what I expected from a small restaurant owned by great people.
very nice seafood,I really enjoy it!
I ordered the oysters. They are smaller than pingpong balls. Not sure if they were even fresh. Hard to tell in one bite. Dusty mixed bag for decor. Asked for water, didn't get any. Asked for extra lemon twice because I didn't get any the first time. Disappointment and not recommending this place. Seriously owners, go to the West Coast, taste it there then TRY to replicate it here.
Food came hot and tasted great!! Service was excellent!! I'll be back!!
Very good...
Awesome food , Rebecca and Mary Beth are fantastic. I would go back for them !
Picked up fish and chips for three. Ready on time. Fresh. Very tasty.
The lunch special is delicious and a huge portion! I always look forward to coming here for lunch.
the food was delicious and the service was fast on friendly.
Awsome!
Love seafood. Love service. Love the location. Love pretty much everything here in this seafood restaurant. Not so expensive but the best fresh seafood i have ever try here in calgary. Today i ordered Trio fish and fresh cut fried for $20 only. Thanks God i am here. See pics
Wonderful! Try the Manhatten seafood chowder. Absolutely to die for! Salmon tacos are killer!
First time there, very good food, and welcoming atmosphere.
Fun, family atmosphere and fantastic seafood!
Best seafood in calgary
Delicious! I recommend the scallops.
Amazing. We had the cod, the chowder, crabcakes and calamari. The lemonade was perfect.
Service
Amazed by the the fresh taste and quality, I had grilled salmon and my fried had fish and chips. Will definitely be back, the website says it is closed for dine in, but it is open at the moment for dining. The only little niggle (which is a personal preference) is I like having the salmon with crispy skin on, but still tasted great.
Great fish ..smaller place that has a good reputation
Great seafood! Great service! Fries are fantastic!!
Excellent. Excellent service and food. We split the seafood chowder and the pollock fish and chips. More than enough for 2. Only thing missing was some greens like coleslaw.
Good no nonsense fish and chips.
Just tried this place for the first time. It won't be the last time for sure. Service was quick and friendly, food was pricey but worth every cent. You will not be disappointed if you give them a try.
I love this restaurant. Amazing fish and chips and good selection of seafood to purchase to being home.
Not the same since change of ownership. Went on a Tuesday expecting the fish and chip special. As far as I can tell they no longer have daily specials. The fish I had was unremarkable. Update: **Four Stars** My wife and I recently enjoyed the Tuesday fish and chip special. Really enjoyed the the blended Manhattan Chowder and Seafood Chowder. We be returning soon.
My husband and I like trying new fish and chips places and this was amazing. We had a small cesar salad to share and the cod "wings" for starters. Then the cod dinner, which i could finish finish. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. We will be returning. Highly recommend this establishment.
Just ordered off door dash. Great portion size and was hot and super tasty! Probably the best take out fish and chips I've had in a while! (I already ate a couple pieces of fish before I took the photo!)
This restaurant is exceptional for several reasons. The food is delicious, fresh, and the price is just right. The service is outstanding - friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. It's a great place to go and relax and visit with friends and family. We go often!
Until I lived on the coast, I always thought fish and chips were something frozen you heated up on a cookie sheet. Then the heavens opened, and showers of local tartar sauce and malt vinegar fell over crispy battered flakes...schooling me in what the Brits have always known. Fast forward to Calgary and I am unsure what the offerings will be. We did take-out and the fish was still hot and tasty when we got home. The tartar sauce and coleslaw could have a bit more zip but were delicious. Goldilocks would have been happy with the fries. They were neither too soft, nor too crispy...just right. The decor is adorable and I want to go back to sample some dishes I saw on the menu. They offer 'bulk' specials and we were able to feed 3 for the price of 2 individual meals.
Nice place A family restaurant
Waited TWO HOURS for our food to be served. I wish the wait was worth it but it was not. Food was bland and horrible customer service from "waitress/manager" Not highly recommended and will never go back. Thanks for ruining a family birthday celebration!!! ???????????????????????? UPDATE: whoever responded; ???????????????? awesome lies! Because if those things actually happened as you “described” this review will not be up! I’ll give one thing out of your story.. apology was made but not sincerely and only once... and because of your lies... NO INTENTIONS of giving you guys another shot!
Superb every time. Fish is lightly battered, fried golden, very homey place. Also Seafood Chowder is amazing.
Good food, good atmosphere, lovely people! Service was really delightful and I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends!
Had high hopes. Got the coconut shrimp for the appy, was good for taste but it was super greasy. Sauce was pretty sweet, would have been nice to have something to cut that sweet a little. Dinner I ordered fried oysters with a piece of fish and fries....again, greasy. My mom had...think it was called the Captains plate, had fish, cocnut shrimp and scallops....yup, greasy. The breading on the scallops was think and crunchy, which may be good for, I dont know, onion rings. But wasnt good for the scallops....in my opinion. The breading just held more grease. May have been good if they put the fried stuff on a rack right after they pulled it out...but as of now, I'm not feeling to great from all the grease, couldnt drink enough water to wash it down. And speaking of water, service wasnt great! Left my cup empty on the side of the table for a while before I had to ask for more. The server didn't come back till we were done our food, when we explained, she did ask to replace what we disnt like which was great.....but long to late! In the end, if you want fried seafood, honestly, go to Joey's Only Seafood, about the same quality and cheaper.
Best seafood in Calgary. Great atmosphere and service!
Great food excellent service. My goto for fish and chips
The Fish and chips was excellent, service great. Food slightly over priced 14-19$ per order.
Lots of great memories at this place, and the food is always fantastic!
Neighborhood restaurant serving great sea food and I'm not a seafood lover. I had the cod with seafood chowder. Both were great.
The best fish and chips around. Ready fast too!
Love it!
Fantastic spot for fish and chips
Nice staff. They also have a store that sells sushi-grade salmon and tuna.Their food is OK but nothing extraordinary.
Great sea food
Great service and pretty good food at reasonable prices.
Excellent fish and chips. Great service
One of the top places in the city for fish and chips. I got the cod. 3 large pieces don't perfectly. Huge amount of chips Tarter sauce is made in house and is amazing.
Great for and service. The chowder is delicious and my kids loved the fish and chips
Huge food portions and great value for money. I had the pollock and you get 3 large pieces for a $13.99 lunch plus an overwhelming amount of fries. Service is fantastic too. I'll definitely be back!
Great chowder
Our go to Fish and Chips source.
Nice service and staff lovely to come out and sing Happy Birthday
I found my fish and chips craving restaurant but when it comes to price- i still prefer Joey's! This place has a nice ambiance to it. With the decoration that they have, I feel like when I look out the window I'd see the ocean! The fish and chips (Halibut) was awesome! It's very flavourful though a bit pricey. The chips that goes with it taste like homemade ones! Not like it's was frozen and then fried. We also loved our deluxe seafood chowder! Very delicious! Our server was friendly and nice and not too chattery- what we prefer! She forgot to serve my glass of wine so to apologize she gave it for free- which was really nice of her. I'll come back here when I'm really craving for seafood and traditional fish and chips!
Food hot. Good size portions . Server very friendly.
Fantastic!
Good quality food. You can tell they put an emphasis on fresh, high quality ingredients and attention to detail. Homemade sauces also made a difference. Service was a bit underwhelming but the food was outstanding. We will for sure be back.
They say deep-fried foods are bad for you...BUT who can resist!? Their pier platter tastes so good! As well as the lunch special fish and chips (with same price but larger portion, what a deal!) The decoration inside was also super lovely and enjoyable, staff was nice and friendly, service was quick and thoughtful. Five stars guaranteed!
Very expensive and very little selection
The atmosphere the food and the service was A1
Great food good price awesome staff
Great food
Great food!
Best place for fish and chips if you ask me.
Fish and chips here is fresh and tasty. Great service, all combine to be well worth the price. Parking can be tricky when busy but food makes up for it. 3 different types of fried fish for $20 is great deal. Nice tossed salad, crispy fries are fresh and tasty too.
Walking in the restaurant was very busy, understandable for a Sunday evening, however the staff were not present to greet incoming customers. It was simply understood that you place your name on a chalkboard for them to read out when/if a table was ready, for newcomers this may not be understood so you end up just standing like a deer in the headlights. When a seat was finally opened to me and my guest the table was sticky and the environment was cold. When the starter arrived (Calamari) it was not hot enough, it was greasy, the batter was sub-par and left no desire to return to the starter itself. The main course itself was, for me and my guest, the three piece Cod with Chips. The Cod was battered with a similar sub-par batter as the Calamari and yet again left no desire for a second bite but at the the extravagant price point you simply must finish everything so not to feel theived. The chips were not crunchy, were cold, unsalted, and just a tad bit soggy. Now the vinegar at the table was just terrible, not a great thing for a fish and chips restaurant to have going for them. The malt vinegar was stale tasting, and the white vinegar was clearly diluted, akin to putting water on your fish/chips. Overall I would not recommend Pelican Pier to any of my friends, and will not be returning myself.
Good food and service
Not only is the food delicious, the staff was wonderful. Huge portions, best fish & chips I've had in calgary.
A great seafood plan.
My go-to place for fish n chips in Calgary! The batter they use is light and you won't feel sick of it after a few bites, unlike other fish n chips I've had. The fish is always fresh and you have to get their homemade gravy!
Maybe an off night, but they left out part of my picked up order, the seafood platter was very skimpy for the price, and the fries, while plentiful, were not warm or even close to crisp. The haddock was ok though, and I will likely give them a second chance strictly because of that.
Lunch fish and chip special would feed two, but I ate itvall LOL
Just popped in to grab some seafood to cook at home, things are pre-portioned on the bigger side and I was shopping for one, but I mentioned this to the lovely lady at the counter and because it was slow, she was happy to grab the stock from the back and portion just the amount I was looking for. Super grateful for that, thank you!
We have been loyal patrons at Pelican Pier for many years. We enjoy the friendly staff and servers and the food is always delicious. The seafood chowder is an absolute must. We have yet to find another Seafood restaurant which can compare.
Delicious seafood and lovely customer service. The interior has a lovely charm and I recommend the fish tacos, probably the best I've had.
We have driven past this restaurant many years and always said we should stop. Today we did and the food and service is amazing. A small restaurant but that helps the feel. Prices are reasonable, definitely will go back
I went here to try the fish tacos but they were not on the menu I guess I could've asked. I did have their fish which was tasty but portion size is incredibly small. It was more a kids portion. I must say their chowder is very good though. Service was friendly.
Fish is tasty..little greasy. Chips nothing special not hot enough and too many.
I ordered pick up from here, the food was absolutely fantastic and tasted fresh. Portions were on point, however it was just a tad pricey. All the sauces were excellent, but the star of the show was the Calamari. The restaurant was a decent size, and very clean. Will be returning!
Dinner
The lunch special fish and chips were delicious; large portion sizes too. Staff were very kind.
Food is not fresh, there is no good taste on it plus is expensive
Great food and service. Very nice servers and very clean. Would definitely go back again.
my husband and I went a few weeks ago for lunch on a Saturday and we were really disappointed. the portions were VERY small for what you pay for, and the food was sub-par. The service was also not very good, we had to ask for everything, we waited 10-15 minutes for someone to even take our drink order, and the waitress seemed overwhelmed. I wouldn't come back mainly because the food is not worth what you pay. We got the calamari (which was literally maybe 8-10 pieces for $12) and two fish and chip entrees and it was over $50! A fish Sammy from mcdonalds would be more satisfying..
Friendly staff, great tasting food
Food came out quick and was hot! Service was good!
Generous filets, with cod as firm as the haddock, you can’t go wrong. Perfectly battered and deep fried which also makes the Best Onion Rings in Calgary!!! I gobbled my chips plain (I don’t even like chips normally even with condiments).
Awesome
It's always best if it's family owned
This restaurant gets one star for ambiance and one star for our server who was great! No stars for food ordered the halibut for $32 bucks didn't resemble halibut at all was super dry and not good at all sorry.
We had seafood chowder and deep fried oysters. The seafood chowder was good. Service is very good. The prices here are on the high side. Full marks for the maritime decorating which is well done & entertaining.
Overall, a pretty solid fish and chips spot! The place is family-owned, and the thoughtful decor and incredibly friendly staff certainly seem to reflect that homey, welcoming atmosphere. Fish and chips were soft, tender, and not oily at all, which was great! Prices were also quite reasonable compared to other fish and chip spots. The only reason why I can't give this place 5 stars, is because I was unfortunately underwhelmed by their Seafood Chowder. I found that it was a little too thin, more so to the point of being a soup rather than a chowder. However, with that being said, it might have just been an unlucky day for me, I would certainly give this place another go!
(Translated) All that is fish and seafood are very rich and fresh !! (Original) Todo lo que es pescados y mariscos son muy ricos y frescos!!
Great little place for seafood. Absolutely spot on delish every time. Thank you!
Best fish and chips
Lowsy salmon
Service was excellent. We informed them that we were going to split our order and it was served on two plates. Coconut shrimp was delicious.
The seafood here is deliciously made the right way. Flaky, crunchy, flavourful eats had all around with every plate that was served at our table. Light drink menu, but it doesn't need it. The service was great.
Busy and gets crowded with limited parking. However, it's because it's good. Ordered the halibut and chips which came out thermal nuclear hot. Co worker ordered the combo plate which was also as hot as the sun. It was delicious and fresh.
Yummy fish.
Only been here twice but the fish was always well prepared and the staff always great. Popcorn shrimp was super crispy; highly recommended.
This is my favourite fish and chips in town for sure. They are on special on Tuesdays.
It was excellent
The seafood was awesome and cooked to perfection. The service was awesome as well
Amazing place!!! Food is to die for, service is friendly, and atmosphere is so relaxed. My first time having fish n' chips here....and I have to say I'm in heaven. My favorite was the halibut n' chips, and I can't even explain the AMAZING dessert I had!!! YOU MUST GET THE KEY LIME PIE ????????????????!!! This place is my new fave dining!!! xo
Eat here often. Food and service always great.
Great seafood chowder and coconut cream pie!
Very good. The fish there is amazing
Great food and atmosphere
What a little gem! My friend had recommended this place to me and I was skeptical because I've never heard of it. The food however was fantastic! I got the classic salmon fish and chips and what a delight it was. I would recommend getting half fries/half salad for your side though to refresh the palette.
Best ever in Calgary! Thanks
Best seafood place in Calgary. Amazing fish, soup, calamari, scallops, pie- you name anything on their menu and it's great.
Excellent service. Fish batter is light and crispy. Awesome Tuesday deal. Family friendly!
This place has been there forever, and constantly has good fish and chips. Really good staff. Minor complaint, the red wine I ordered was good, but served too warm, warmer than room temperature. They need to find a better place to store it, cool but not refrigerated.
My Wife & l have been coming here since 1997 or 1998? Tho she hates fish she loves pelican pier fish- go figure. Great food and reasonable prices. Pelican Pier never price gouges.
First the staff came across as very beligerant. They were doing us a service by taking our order. Second when we did receive our orders the food was horribly greasy. Over all not happy with any aspect of this restaurant and do not recommend it. Parking is also limited at the front. Will not return anytime soon.
Love the theme they have going on at the restaurant.
Great!
Honestly place Is like a legitimate seafood diner
Omgosh the fish & chips was so delicious. Friendly service.
They have nice ocean atmosphere All staff was very friendly and explained well about menu if you have some questions. Ordered fish and chips taste was good .I wish little more crispy outside Price was reasonable and I am happy to having snack here
We love this little gem.
Great Sunday lunch.
Yum
Still think this is the best fish & chips in YYC
More like Treasure Pier! These guys make the best seafood I’ve ever had this far away from the ocean, the staff also treat me and my little girl like family. Breaded scallops and coconut shrimp is what I started with for first few orders (The captains combo) - but then I started exploring their other items and me and the wife did a solid month and a half of fish tacos maybe 3 times a week ???? - My favourite soup these days is their SEAFOOD chowder I usually grab one of those to take home- Then they have different types of fish and chips if your into the usual seafood classics but I rather their chicken sandwich or just eat three orders of salad in one sitting that usually works too- ( the in-house salad dressing made with love) One thing I would change is I wish there was more ability to add-on extra scallops to a meal instead of its own independent meal and I would like to see more crab and lobster outside of special seasons. 10/10 still coming here regularly and recommend to anyone either looking to get into seafood or someone who wants a reliable fish joint that’s always open!
Salmon was delicious
Seafood selection not great. I didn't eat there.
quaint neighborhood seafood restaurant with Atlantic Canada tasting dishes. fish and chips : Halibut, Cod or Haddock not dry, batter is perfect & even the half order is a large serving!
Great food, great service
Really good food and service. Will be back again and again
Best fish & chips in Calgary so far!
Fish and chips is OUTSTANDING and some of the best in Calgary. Super light batter, great fries, delicious coleslaw and superb gravy round out a great choice of cod, halibut, haddock or salmon. The coconut shrimp is excellent. I also appreciate the very friendly service! Very highly recommended!
Decent prices, good service, light batter on the fish, large servings, greasy... but what do you expect. Good to try once but we probably wouldn't go back again.
Yummy seafood. On the pricey side.
Awesome food and service!
The fries tasted like they were pre cooked, dropped again, and then over salted. The fish tasted great and the portions were very big!
Our go-to place during Covid. Friendly and grandchild welcoming. Tasty food... my favorite is salmon.
Underwhelming and bland, yet the same price as fresh and delicious Vancouver Island fish and chips. We ordered takeout and were graced with stale, cold, flavorless fries and a paltry skinny piece of fish in disappointing soggy, bland batter. I don't even want to talk about the red clam chowder. I noticed that they're not open to honest constructive criticism as they respond to reviewers with stubbornness which is another turn off because it makes it seem like they're not willing to improve. Those who are unwilling to evolve will be left behind in the past.
Delicious and homey.
Delicious every time we’ve gone.
Just called the restaurant to ask a question. I said "hello how's it going today?" I got a response of "not well, I'm sorry who is this?" whoever answers a phone to a business like this honestly needs to take some time off.
The food could have all came from a freezer
Was soo good
We were here for a family dinner and the food was amazing. We had the cod, halibut, ceasar salad and both the Key-lime and Coconut pie. We were there at 430pm and it was busy, but the one server was able to cover. When we left at 630pm it was packed and thankfully there was another server on shift.
Best fish and chips!
I got take out code and chips the chips were soggy and the fish batter was very unpleasant. It seemed like the fish had been tossed in spiced gour after it had been fried. It was really that bad. Been years since I had been there and it will be years before I go back. When better owners take over I may show up to retry.
Top shelf fish and chips! Will be back again
Fish tacos very tasty and reasonably priced. Coconut pie shared for dessert home made and delicious
Real good service and really good food. Really enjoyed the key lime pie. Only knock was the kids meal chicken strips..they were pretty shabby compared to the adult version. My kid ended up eating mine. However everything else was fantastic.
Two expensive
Poor Service. We ordered 4 meals for take out and 3 of those meals were NOT what was ordered. If you do order from this restaurant I suggest you check the contents of your takeout boxes before leaving. Very disappointing.
What a hidden little gem, this place is. It was great. Our waitress was friendly, service was quick. I had the cod & chips, my granddaughter had the nuggets & fries. This was the best fish and chips I've had in quite some time. The batter was light and thin so I could taste the fish. I will definitely be back.
Have to agree with reviews, definitely one of the best fish & chips in the city. The light was incredibly light and not greasy at all. The fries were crisp and by far superior than most. Supremely sublime chowder. Charming ambiance. It was definitely a pleasure. Can't believe I waited so long to visit, but now, I can guarantee it won't be the last, especially to try the haddock and chips and the blackened snapper.
Always good. Best seafood restaurant in the city.
Excellent food and value when you go during its happy hour times.
Absolutely fantastic. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Our food was delicious. Came out hot and arhe portion. The restaurant was full and yet we were treated like we were the only table there. I can't recommend it enough. Order the trio!
We have been meaning to try this restaurant for years. After a short wait, we were seated. Had we gone a bit earlier, the wait would have been much longer as this place is popular. The service was great. It didn't take long for our hot food to arrive. We enjoyed an appetizer of coconut shrimp with housemade pineapple chutney, both cod and haddock fish and chips, seafood chowder and homemade coconut cream pie. I liked the light breading on the fish and it was not greasy. Everything was delicious. We will be back again soon now we have experienced it.
Great seafood. Good menu selection and service. More fish & chips than I could eat.
Tasty food and good service. They should consider trying a Crab Legs Night on an otherwise slow night like Wednesday. It would bring in new customers who would enjoy the experience.
Good food and good customer service.
We had mussels for the first time. They were good, lots of tomatoes with it. And i had the trio fish. With 1/2 salad and 1/2 french fries. I found that the fries could of been cooked longer.
Fish and chips were good, service was great! Key lime pie = delish.
Excellent fish and good service
Excellent service; delicious seafood! One of the best seafood restaurants in the city. I had the Pier Platter which came with coconut shrimp, popcorn shrimp, and calamari. They were all great, but the coconut shrimp was definitely the star. I tried a bit of the lightly breaded fresh cod, which was beautifully cooked. Will be coming again!
I'm from Nova Scotia and this place makes me feel like I'm back home eating fish N chips in a dockside restaurant. Amazing food!
Good food and good service
Good food & service
Love the food, reasonably price!I've the tackyness of the place
Nice and cozy, family restaurant, good food and service
Great service and friendly staff. I left their very satisfied. Thank you.
My favorite place to go for fish n chips ????
Love this place! Great local seafood. Friendly staff.
Consistent high quality with generous portions served by cheerful friendly staff. What's not to love? !
Food quick and server very pleasant
The food here is really delicious. They sure know their way around fish!
Lunch fish and chips offer is a fantastic value with the quality of food just ok. Next time will leave with fresh seafood from their market!
Great food and great place. Nice decorations.
Always great food and service!
Not going on my return list. Somewhat pricey for the quality.
Great fish and chips. The batter was light and the service was great. I would highly recommend this spot over franchises.
Great fish & chips (we had cod and haddock, pollock and halibut were also available). Prompt service for our pick-up order.
Not bad
a bit of a dive but really good seafood.. always fresh and full of flavour.
One the very best fish and chip places in the city! The prices are reasonable for the large portions. Every time I have been here the food came out fast and perfectly cooked, I highly recommend the halibut fish and chips and the coconut shrimp (which comes with the most delicious pineapple curry chutney, seriously I could eat that stuff on everything!!) They also sell amazing homemade pies which you can buy whole with a bit of notice.
Great staff and selection
I really like the fish and chips here. You can choose Pollack, Cod or Halibut. I prefer the Cod.
Pretty awesome little place for seafood and fish and chips. Try their cod fish and chips if you get the chance.
Excellent food
One of the best seafood restaurants in Calgary. Decent value for money.
We called into place 2 orders of halibut and chips . Had to wait a bit to pick up the order and I only can assume if I did it ask a worker if this was my order I would have stood there longer. The fish was ok nothing special . The fries where actually better than the fish . For almost 70 $ one should expect perfection . It was not. The food might be better eating in . But no desire to get that . Will not be ordering from here ever again. The higher rated reviews I will assume are from people that have never eaten fresh seafood .
I'm NOT a seafood lover, and even I had to say the food was excellent! Cozy and friendly, a fun way to start our date night. We look forward to taking the whole family there.
The best fish and chips.. period....
The fish and chips here is outstanding
Delicious dinner, I had Cajun Chicken Ceasar salad (order it hot!!), and the rest of my party all had amazingly delicious 3 piece fish and chips (now ordering with a half and half side orders...(1/2 salad &1/2 fries) and great coffee...super excellent servers tonight! Great job girls ????
Fresh seafood and generous portions!
Fish tacos were great, quick service - delicious!
Amazing!!. The staff is so nice and it was a pleasant experience. The food was great, so fresh. You will have to come see for yourself. P.S best dessert is the key lime pie ????????.
Fantastic fish and chips. The blackend snapper was excellent and the battered fish was really good as well.
Fantastic!
Very nice place but services to slow
really slow service the night i went, but the food is as good as it's always been. a lesser known gem in the Calgary scene
Terrific seafood chowder and a unique dining experience in a well-executed coastal-themed setting that was apparently designed by Hollywood set producers. The food was on point and the kids menu and free drink refills make it kid-friendly.
Best fish & chips in Canada! Excellent Customer Service!
Great local restaurant with delicious seafood and warm service. The key lime pie is absolutely delicious; as was everything that we ordered. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes!!
Just picked up our order. The fish and chips look ok but for $24.00 this is what you get for scallops and chips. Not acceptable. Should have gone with my better judgement when I saw that they support the Restriction Exemption program on their website.
Excellent food & service!
Very very good food
Good food and service
Great staff, amazing food!!
Great food and service.
Friendly staff
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Servers are fast, knowledgeable and excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone as a must have !!!!
Best Cajun chickened I have in Calgary.
Excellent seafood dishes!
Fantastic Fish & Chip spot. Had driven past this place a ton over the years and had never gone in. We finally visited and it was outstanding. Fish was extremely fresh and delicious!
One of the worst experiences I've ever had eating out in Calgary. It wasn't just one misstep; the staff was obnoxious and rude, (especially to a handicapped patron who entered after us), the food was awful, (everyone at our table felt bloated and sick for the next day or so), and for fish and chips, the prices were ridiculously overpriced. 25+ for mediocre chowder, 8 shrimp and a couple vegetables? Wow. On top of all of this, the decor was straight out of 1970 - literally. It seems like the place hasn't been renovated since it opened, with cheap tables and plastic tablecloths, all crammed together uncomfortably. Did I mention we all got sick? I should have known better, it's pretty hard to get good seafood in the middle of the prairies.
Fresh fish and well made food!
Fantastic fish and chips every time! Grab the key lime pie for dessert as it's subLIME. Hah
Great food, service.
Seafood chowder. ...overpriced and not that good
Cozy little restaurant, if you like fish, it is a great place.
Just for the Halibut of it all! Went to the Pelican Pier and it was busy but awesome as always! I had the 2 piece Haddock with fries. My appetizer was a bowl of fish chowder. The chowder was good but it could have used more fish/clams in it. A bit thin for a $15 cost. Haddock was $18. Delicious and a nice thin batter that doesn't burden the fish taste. The fries are superb, not mushy. My wife had the Halibut, it is always the top of the food chain delicious! Pure white meat and oh so good but it has gone up a lot in cost, now $32 when I recall it at $18! Oh my. If you are wanting fresh seafood, you gotta go to the Pelican for the Halibut of it all!
Had Pelican Pier Seafood for the first time and it was delicious. Would highly recommend to everyone. In these crazy days of isolating was able to take out or do delivery.
Good food and good service. Varied menu. Licensed
It's a great place
Excellent sea food at reasonable cost
The quality of sea food was really not good frozen shrimp with zero test the price it’s high for frozen sea food I suggest for u guys to look for other fish supply
Excellent food always a great experience.
What a great place! Try the key lime pie (it's homemade)
Some of the best fish & chips I've had anywhere, with excellent dessert.
Always a great experience. We love supporting this locally owned and run business.
I've been going to Pelican Pier since 1995 with my family. Though it was sold a few years back, all dishes are just as great as Lindsay's original dishes. Prices went up a bit but still well worth the visit to this local gem.
Best chippy in the city!
Took my family for lunch. The halibut and haddock were delicious! Just what we were looking for. My husband had the seafood chowder and he loved it. Would definitely go back.
I eat here and buy fish here, a very nice establishment. The menu isn't as diverse as the fish they sell, but it's a place I very much do enjoy, and I buy lots of crab from here.
Went back to Pelican Pier after a two year hiatus. I was on the hunt for fresh, sustainable seafood. I have just recently watch the Netflix doc. "Seaspiracy". I was very disturbed to say the least. The Haddock & Chips we ordered were very good...too many fries! Next time we will share one order. However, where does your fish come from exactly? Consider refreshing your website to let us know!
Great service, great food, amazing atmosphere!
Came here for lunch with my husband as we were both craving Fish n Chips. It wad quiet, only 2 other people. I thought the decor was pretty tacky, definitely needed some love. Service was pretty prompt. The lady that helped us was very friendly. The fish and chips were average, but we got our fix.
Great place for seafood
Real good seafood
Great fish and chips
Great place all around and good food. I come here twice a month.
The fish and chips were unreal! Hands down the best I’ve ever had, would highly recommend the halibut to anyone who’s craving some GOOD fish and chips.
Family dining for great classic fish suppers.
Delicious food and grat service
I have always driven past Pelican Pier, and finally I dined in. Everything my friend and I ordered was tasty and fish was perfectly fried. The chef even split our fish and chips order on separate plates; much thankful and impressed. If you're planning a trip here, don't forget to get a slice of pie too! (Their key lime pie is epic). See you soon Pelican Pier
Hadn't been here for a couple of years, glad to see things were the same as I remembered. Friendly service, great food! Fish and chips were tasty and not greasy at all. The seafood chowder was light on potatoes and full of seafood. My only regret is I didn't save room for a piece of key lime pie!
Food was good but the prices were a little much.
Pelican Pier serves the best fresh oysters on the half-shell. The owner, Kelli, served these up with a generous portion of lemon and hot sauce - the overall presentation made our mouths water. They smelled wonderful and tasted even better.
Outstanding food and service. It was busy when we arrived and our order arrived very quickly. A great place for shrimp.
The food was good, for Alberta
Had a delightful lunch experience. Delicious food, genuine hospitality and themed decor. My breaded oysters and fish tacos came promptly, fresh and hot. Will definitely come back and try some dinner items next time.
Great service, excellent food! Fresh fish and tasty salad, I will come back for sure.
Charming little hole in the wall. The inside theming is a bit over the top, everything is like a pier. But the service is nice, and the food comes quickly and tastes delicious. It's also a great place to pick up some seafood cuts you can't grab from the grocery store.
Very tasty fish that is always fresh. Light batter on the fish and chips so the fish is more prominent (that's a good thing!) The fish chowder was excellent. Friendly staff. Would come again for the same dish.
Good fresh seafood served. Always busy, which is a good sign
What a hidden gem, it was our first time here , the flavours and cleaneness of the dishes was pretty faboulus will be back for sure...
The best sesfood restaurant ever ????????
I found my new little gem. Great food & service. I was tired of the chain seafood places & came across Pelican Pier...Love, Love !!!
Best fish and chips in the city! The halibut was so fresh! We will be back :-)
Great atmosphere and good food. The style of interior reminds me of Atlantic Canada
good fish and chips
(Translated) It is a fish and chips shop, but the clam chowder here is exquisite. I didn't think I could eat so much clam chowder so far in inland areas like Calgary. Nowadays, I don't order fish and chips, but feel like I'm full with a big clam chowder. The shop assistants are all friendly and very nice.
Great fresh fish, the best fish and chips in Calgary! The seafood restaurant to go to!
My first visit was a success! The decor is extremely sea-like and kitschy but oddly I didn’t mind it. It was quite busy on the right side if the Service is friendly and quick. The food is great. We ordered he starter seafood chowder (which is meal-sized) and it was so hearty with large chunks of whitefish and salmon. The fried oysters and crab cakes were good but the calamari was the star. Not too much batter and it melts in your mouth! We will definitely go back for more than appys next.
Dropped in to pick up some Basa fillets for dinner. Not as much selection as I expected but fish was great.
For the most part, I would say my dining experience was good at Pelican Pier. The fish was super fresh and tender, fries were exceptional. It was clearly obvious that the chefs keep their cooking oil filtered and clean to deliver a fresh, clean taste to the customers. Friendly and attentive service from the waitress was welcomed. The only disappointment was the calamari. It was far below average in my opinion and felt like I was chewing on rubber rings. The sauce for this was also sub par. I would eat here again but it's not a place I would become overly excited about.
Great service and food.
Love the food. Everything is fried and delicious so be careful of how much you eat. Normally I eat pretty healthy so after a pretty huge meal cause it I always order a ton..... I felt heavy and my stomach wasn't too happy with all the grease..... But it is delicious!
Only leaving a review for the "seafood market" as we came for that and not the restaurant. I wouldn't even advertise this. It's a freezer with some frozen seafood. That's it. We left pretty quick when the selection is worse than a grocery store.
Best seafood in Calgary. Great service and friendly staff
We've been going here for sooo... many Yeats.... always enjoy their fresh fish and fresh-cut fries... service is fast, friendly and efficient... we tried their take and cook fish and chips during covid closure... but we love it when they do the cooking and cleanup !
If you like good quality deep fried or grilled seafood this is a great place.
Place makes an absolutely fantastic seafood chowder! Used to eat here every week between curling matches at the Winter Club.
Great food and very pleasant staff
It was delicious, the staff was nice, and the service was quick for dinner times, all in all a great place
Amazing quality food! Great fish and chips nowhere near the sea can be hard to come by, but this place is a winner. The fish is lightly battered, their tartare sauce is perfect, and the serving size is generous. Staff are always friendly, too.
Good food, really busy...make reservations
Great food and service.
We love this restaurant and go often. Their fish is amazing and the service is friendly
Land Locked No More. Walk into Pelican Pier and be whisked away to a little fish and chips joint on the coast. Everything tastes fresh which is no easy feat considering the nearest halibut swims 12 hours away. If you love seafood and think you have to drive to the coast stop here first! Now if only they had a beach...
Great service, however their plates, thought where more like Red Lobster kind of real seafood but the are pre pack, the once you find ready to microwave at the grocery store. By the way quite expensive we expend about the same at other high end restaurant for the 4 serving is about 120
The facility is excellent staff is very friendly and accommodating the food is excellent and I would certainly recommend dining at Pelican Pier
Pelican Pier is AMAZING! Food was incredible, staff were fun and added to the great environment there. Will be back! Ton of FUN!!
No wait and pretty good food but definitely a bit pricy when It costs $70 for 2 adults and a 3 year old with no desert or drinks.
Fantastic had the chowder couldn't find a better one if you tried service was great very clean
Take out food is great and we picked up frozen lobster tails and scallops from there freezer section which we'll be enjoying on new years eve!
I've been going here for years. Always delicious. Great atmosphere. Great people!
Nice sized portions, large pile of fries. Friendly, helpful staff. Tasty New York style chowder. Very nice ambience.
Great sea food
Friendly staff, nice environment and good food.
Forgot to give the senior discount. Service could have been better.
This is a great family restaurant. The food is tasty and well made. Service is friendly. The servers are always moving fast, so speak up if you need something as they pass your table (good thing the drinks/glasses are large!). If you feel like fish and chips, come here!
Delicious! Great service.
Excellent fish and chips and good service. Quiet and clean.
Great place for Seafood
Amazing coconut shrimp and great cod! Wish they had crab too. Definitely a must go!
REALLY good food but shockingly tiny portions for that price.
Food was great. My wife and I ordered fish and chips, halibut and haddock respectively. The price was reasonable, but the fish was excellent! Then I got the raw oysters. They were sooooo tasty! Server was very friendly. My wife and I were very pleased. Definitely go back there again!
Great food and super fun atmosphere. Service was wonderful.
Great service and good food
Have enjoyed their fish and chips since day one
Fish was good but not salted. The coleslaw was very small and flavor was terrible.
This is a wonderful restaurant if you're looking for an authentic fish and chips experience. A fantastic cozy little atmosphere bleeds into the friendly ambience as soon as you enter! The gems that work here always make you feel right at home with a cozy smile and the food is absolutely delicious and always fresh. It's nice to have a taste of local food while teleporting you all the way to the East coast. Would recommend to any friends or family, Five Stars!
Really tasty fish and chips !
Nice place, good food, good service,.
Top-notch fish & chips; always excellent service. Good prices for fresh fish. Friendly staff.
Great fish and chips!!
Got my girlfriend and I some fish and chips (pollock). Considering the reviews I was expecting a solid meal, sad to say we were disappointed. Food was probably mediocre at best. Though I suppose take out tends to diminish the food.. it was just not what we expected. There was also a monster amount of ketchup and vinegars that blew us away. What a waste! On the positive side the fish was cooked fine. Wouldn’t spend my money here I again I don’t think.
Absolutely amazing time here for our Anniversary! Ellie was so polite, helpful and one of the best servers I have ever had. She even made us a rose for my husband to give to me! Made a very special occasion even more so!! Would highly recommend here to anyone! Great food and amazing service!
My wife and I dined on fish and chips. She had haddock and I ordered Halibut and we both enjoyed our meals. The place was busy and yet the service was great.
Awesome portions, great price and friendly service. The ambiance of the place is so beautiful. Really looks like you're on the coast.
Great food, lots of choices and thanks to our server Bontë for being a great server. Def will come back for more
Great place to buy fresh and frozen seafood, and they even have great chicken breasts too.
Excellent seafood - very expensive. If you are wanting a great Salmon dinner, this is the place!
Stick with Fish and Chips or the chowder... Best dishes on the menu.
Normally I'm not one for fish and chips but if you're craving for something different on the Western menu try these guys out. We stopped here on a Friday night and this restaurant was packed. The interior had a nice blue decor which felt like you were actually at the pier. We ordered the trio fish and chips (3 different types of fish) where the fish was lightly battered and came with a house made tartar sauce (delicious). The other plate we ordered were the fish tacos which were delicious (Panko breading, good portion of fish and pickled onions). I really liked their choice of tortilla and onions (tortilla was not soggy and onions were not overpowering). Taking a bite into those tacos you hear that nice crunch. I'd recommend giving this place a try.
Salmon was so fresh! Will definitely come back
Lovely food wonderful server nice atmosphere wish we lived closer would be regulars!!!
Great fish and chips and their calamari is very good as well.
Good food, well priced and busy
Great service, neat environment with quality seafood dishes
My order of blackened snapper wasn't cooked very well - not sure I would order that dish again Service was friendly and prompt Restaurant is clean and nicely decorated
Good chowder, mediocre cod and chips.
Awful place worst fish and chips I've ever had, Batter was soggy, Haddock was dry, chips were soggy I'll never go back.
Always good!!
Delicious fish and chips. Great variety of seafood dishes. And fresh!
Meal type
We tried 3 kinds of fishes, they are very juicy and the batter are very thin not oily. They are delicious!
Very good!
As a senior citizen I am unable to eat two pieces of fish, upon enquiry I was told that the only type of fish I could have was pollack,I wanted halibut but the waitress told me then I should go elsewhere as they wont let customers have only one piece of fish u less it's pollack. This place obviously doesn't want seniors to eat in their restaurant
Our table wasn't wiped down during low time.. other than that, food was great as usual. Our annual visit.
Outstanding food. Will be back.
Excellent seafood menu with very friendly staff. There is also a seafood counter here so you can buy it and bring it home.
Ordered 9oz cod, smaller than my wife’s 8oz cod...still tasted good. Soup was a huge plus.
Best fish and chips place hands down. Place is kid friendly and the inside looks amazing you have to go there to try it out. It was my first time coming here and I'm looking forward to coming back!!!
Good food. Eat in restaurant, lots of different types of sea food would recommend
I read the reviews and wanted so badly to try the food here. We were disappointed. The chowder was runny, and very fishy, not thick and hearty. It was not worth the price. The fish and chips were just ok. The fish tasted ok, but it had little better and was not crispy at all. The fries felt old and soft. I didn't feel I was eating fish and chips at all. I won't drive half hour for this.
The food was hot and fresh and so delicious
Dine in
Amazing fish and chips!
Best fish and chips I have found in Calgary
Excellent quality of fresh fish, amazing ceasar salad and to die for key lime pie. Very clean and our server was friendly, humorous and attentive.wonderful experience and they also have a showcase of fresh seafood you can purchse
Best place for fish and chips in north Calgary
Great little seafood restaurant in the NW. love the decor, service is very friendly and the food is homemade deliciousness. It's hard to find good seafood in the Prairies for obvious reasons so whenever a restaurant can make it work out here it deserves to be recognized.
Always like going here because its hard to find a good seafood place in Calgary. Seafood chowder, and popcorn shrimp are my favourites. Also, they have a frozen section with quality seafood as well. Some of it expensive, but definitely worth it. Eat in or take out still just as good!
We had the chowder and the calamari. Getting good seafood in Calgary is always a challenge so I get why there is a fresh from the freezer vibe to the food but it was really pricey (14 for a bowl of chowder, wide but shallow). The taste was good and it wasnt full of fillers but still. We didn't have a main course so it may be that they are much better at those. For us this was medium food at high end price
Awesome food and very friendly service. Great atmosphere.
Bad service, fries was not fresh cold not crispy and tasted like it was heated in the microwave, fish pieces is so skinny and I got 3 paces all tails , over priced
Nonchalant service
Great Fish and Chips
A great destination for families. Overall good fish, chowder, and even chicken.
Excellent food and service. Very friendly. Best coconut cream pie ever!
Great food at a good price. I loved the chips and the onion rings were outstanding!
This is my favorite seafood restaurant. The service is great and the food is wonderful.
Very good food.
Good fish and chips.
Hands down my favourite spot for fish and chips. Been going here for years and it is always tasty. Cozy place with quite reasonable prices!
Cute restaurant. The server was friendly and not too pushy. It’s a great place to have a relaxed meal. I ordered the three piece pollock with the Manhattan chowder and the rest of my family ordered Pollock with fries. The fish was not too oily and was just right!
Great family restaurant, my kids love this spot
Great place! My family loved the way the decor was themed The service was amazing and the food came out fast and was delicious! Will definitely be back
Good food and service as always though prices have started to creep up a bit. Rising prices are a result of our economy and local governments taxing everyone to the brink so I can't blame them, but it's nice to see great little mom and pop shops like this still around while so many other iconic restaurants have disappeared.
Creative environment with friendly service. Food made with love for people who want a good seafood meal
Best fish an chips this side of the ocean in the heart of the prairies! I will recommend this a hundred times over!
Service was on point, fish & chips came out hot and crispy, tar-tar sauce was a little weak but great meal all in all.
What a fabulous seafood restaurant! We had the tri- fish( cod, haddock and pollock) . You could taste the fish. Just enough batter. The chips were great ( no black bits on chips or batter..they must use clean oil for frying ????) The key lime pie was delicious so save room for It! Definitely will come back.
Great fish taco
Excellent seafood. Friendly staff. Cozy environment.
Delicious fish and chips served there.. I had 3 pieces cod and fries with gravy yummy ????
Sad. Don't go. 2019.
The fish tacos are awesome, the Manhattan chowder was great, my kids loved the fish and chips (the fries were crispy and salty as they should be). It is exactly what you would expect from a family run seafood restaurant: good food at a reasonable price, in a cozy atmosphere, with friendly servers. Keep up the great work.
Absolute GARBAGE!!!! I got 8 onion rings for $7 and they claim because they aren't A &W rings they are more expensive!!!! Worst experience ever!!!! They want me to spend $5 gas to get my $7 back........nothing but scrubs. All of the 5 stars I guarantee they are family and friends to get a good rating!!! Such rude owners!!
good fish nice staff
The food was so bad my family started fighting...no exaggerations. First off we ordered the halibut fish and chips, the salmon fish and chips and the Haddock fish and chips, we double checked with them that there would be fries included, and when we got home (because we ordered takeout), we were shocked to see that there was rice instead of fries, and the haddock didn't even come with fries or rice. Anyway we decided to try it out and again we were shocked with the taste of the fish...it tasted like chlorine. The garlic bread however was decent, we also had the caesar salad, which was definitely the tastiest thing....quite disappointed considering how high the reviews for this place are and for the price which came up to be around $100.
Good quality food, kinda remote login though
Tried this restaurant yesterday anxious to go back. High quality seafood good service.
Got the trio fish with salad. Good flavour and light batter. Also go breaded oyster and crab cakes. They were okay. The coconut shrimp was better. The server was friendly.
Bought crab legs for a special meal. Great quality was able to just run in and pay for a big bag of legs that helped feed a family of 8. The legs were even precut and we're easy to crack open and grab the meat. Everyone loved it. Just wish front staff had more knowledge on how to prepare them or offered to ask a chef.
The waitress was great. The atmosphere was fantastic. My niece loved it
Nice quaint lil place with great fish best batter luv it!
I was hoping to expand my taste for seafood this past weekend while in a new part of the city. Chips were better than the fish. I think the specimen I had could of used a little less batter.
Exceptional food, kind staff members, constantly fantastic vibes. They charge affordable prices and the food quality is awesome. Kudos.
Eat the key lime pie!! You won't regret it . Do it do it now!
Nine of us went here for an after grad dinner. We all ordered something different from the menu and we all loved our meal. The key lime pie was delicious , chowder was creamy and the fish was crispy. My fussy kid ordered the chicken breast( who orders chicken at a fish restaurant) and even he said that it was juicy and really yummy. The lady that served us was awesome and told me she has worked there 7 years. This is a restaurant that we will definitely go back to again.Thank You for the great meal and service.
Food is exceptional and service equals the food. Great place for a seafood meal.
Loved it here.
Best fish and chips you can get in Calgary
Good food but a tad pricy
Very good food.
Pelican Pier has the best non-dairy Manhattan chowder. The cod is also one of my favourite choices here.
Best fish and chips ever ????
Had the mussels they were tasty good service. Could not get shucked oysters till after 4.
Yesterday my son and I returned to Pelican Pier after a very long absence. They didn't have a patio so we were extra glad to support this longtime restaurant. Our meal was DELICIOUS, simple fish and chips. Fish was lightly battered and not greasy, chips were lovely and crisp and not greasy either. The pièce de résistance was the Key Lime Pie!! Light flakey crust, not too sweet meringue and lovely silky smooth lime filling. YUMMY!
Always amazing fish, comparable to some of the good fish & chip places in Victoria, BC. Very light, delicious batter. Tasty fries. Great tartar sauce. They split meals generously. Tasty seafood chowder, with generous starter portion. You can get healthy, tasty steamed veggies as a side. And then the awesome fresh homemade Coconut Cream Pie and Key Lime Pie! With 24 hours notice you can order a whole pie as well! Yum.
I find it to be a bit over priced. The food was okay, but certainly not worth the price. I'm willing to give it another try.
I am from the UK so fish and chips means fat chips (or as they are called in USA and Canada, fat Fries). And the batter on the fish crisper. But our standards are that of a British fish and chip shop.
Kind of a hidden gem, unassuming looking joint in a strip mall, but might be some of the best fish & chips in Calgary. They're also a fishmonger, if you want to take it home and cook it yourself.
Amaizing food and service
I celebrated my nomination last night in this gorgeous place. Well we had a fantastic evening and the venue was undoubtedly the reason for this strong gathering. The waiters contributed in a very nice style, the meals were appetizing and my friends were so cheerful. We shall absolutely visit again for more joyful events. thanks very much.
Nothing special
Asome place for sea food
Excellent food and friendly staff. Always top notch.
Best English style fish and chips in the city so far, at least in the NW. I highly recommend the haddock and chips, a little more expensive but worth it. Excellent for take out, comes with fresh lemon and tartar sauce.
The food is fantastic. Staff are very friendly.
Small restaurant in a shopping plaza. What a great find. Food was excellent and servers were very helpful.
First time there had the homemade chicken fingers and everyone else had the fish was real good and great service
Fresh seafood. Very good chowder.
Good food friendly staff
It was actually quite bad, where should I start. We the waitress was extremely uninterested, we ordered a couple of crab cakes for ~15 and it was really bad, burnt, and not tasty at all. Then the fish and chips that we ordered, the fries was clearly reheated possibly in the microwave it had no crunch to it, orders took a While , I really don't recommend it , there are a couple of other places that are better.
