I'm not going to lie. I had not too high hopes for this establishment. However, I was pleasantly surprised with not only the service, but the food as well! We had two servers (as we asked to move go the patio for some fresh air), unfortunately I did not get the name of the red head inside, but Rheanna was our server on the patio and she was just grand. She was very attentive too us. Shout out to the cooks too, because that food was down right delish. I only remember Joey's from when I was a kid, and there was definitely an older crowd here this evening, but they've certainly gained two young patrons for future nights out.

SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T GO TO THIS LOCATION!!! We visited here on the weekend just my boyfriend and myself. Service was good food was great. So I decided to take the family to this Terra Losa location Monday evening. There was one other table and a few skip the dishes orders that were going out. I ordered and when I received my meal the fishes was massacred. It was cooked to hell and literally butched. I said to the waitress that it was terrible. Obviously she could see. She made some excuse about the pans hadn't been seasoned. One of about 10 we heard from then until we left. She went back to talk to the manager and hearing the entire conversation he just expected me to eat it. Let alone the boyfriends fish was also cooked terribly just not in pieces like mine. He finally made us new fish and it wasn't cooked enough. It's a fish shack!!! Then we get charged full price with the offer of a free dessert. I didnt eat hardly anything. My kids meals were acceptable but nothing I will pay for again. The managers attitude was ridiculous and I've mentioned to my family as they also enjoy eating out. They will not be visiting either. The waitresses constant excuses when the previous time a few days prior service was good and same with the food and they were busier. JUST DON'T GO HERE! I took pics but can't figure out how I can post them

The facelift the owners gave the place is amazing. The new menu options are great too. They still have the crispy fish and chips that ive had since i was a kid. Had a Buddha bowl this go around which was fresh and filling.

The fish was breaded and crispy and the fries were similar. They provided more than enough food to fill me and my date. A great overall quiet evening.

This was just not very good. The fish was thinner than the batter and thre batter was VERY greasy!! The vegetables were frozen carrots that had turned to tasteless rubbery things. Not an enjoyable meal. Capilano Joey's is so much better!

I really like the fish and chips here, and yes I've been to britts both locations in the city. I spring for the halibut as it's the king of fish and it's just so happens to be the most expensive too but if your going to eat fish and chips fried food and if your like me and you have high cholesterol but want to enjoy something rich once in a while and there is nothing wrong with that so long as you don't do it each day. why not enjoy the best of it is halibut. it's ok to let yourself go from time to time but don't go crazy about it. enjoy my friend.

Just ate the best Joey’s fish and chips we’ve ever had. We asked them to cook the original fish and fries “extra crispy” which they did to perfection. Huge portions and fresh coleslaw with Iced Tea refills. COVID-19 procedures were followed with limited tables nicely spaced. There is no longer the ketchup, vinegar and tartar sauce on tables but they bring packages of vinegars and side dishes of tartar sauce. Our server was awesome and friendly. (The receipt said “Austin”) Thanks for a great meal.

Update Nov 4/19 from my review over a year ago. I admit to being a Brit who loves his fish and chips. I stand by the 5 stars I previously awarded. Basically the new ownership is continuing to provide the same quality of food and service as the last. Tonight we all had Haddock and chips. The fish was cooked the way it should be, moist, flaking apart, crispy batter and not to greasy. We will go back.

I regret not catching his name, but picked up an order I placed on skip the dishes specifically asking if could sub a salad with a different salad (the one I wanted being a dollar more) and I had already pre paid, they threw in my preferred salad without the justified extra cost while giving me and every other customer that came in with great service. Also, most consistent for quality Joey's I've gotten fish from. Never too oily or "greasy".

Was good! The server was very pleasant and attentive. The portions were definitely smaller than when I last visited. My fries were done all right, could have been left in another 2 minutes(my preference). My wife oredered the truffle poutine fries, her fries could have used 3-4 more minutes...tasted great but the gravy might have had flavour enhancements like msg or celery extract...same thing different name. I know businesses need to tighten up to survive...but french fries are cheap...would have looked a lot bigger if the the 3 skinny pieces of fish were on a big bed of (fully cooked) french fries.

The food was awful not sure if the waiter was the cook as well as our server. Ordered a lobster sandwich it sounded so good but it wasn't . The insides of the toasted sandwich was cold and the cheese was just sitting sideways on it not melted at all so the server said he would prepare a better one ?? Well it was exactly the same as the first one . It has gone downhill from how I remembered it to be .

First time back since the change over from Joey's fish and chips. This was about a week or two since the reopening. Staff looked new, layout has changed and seems more open. Some menus updates but thankfully the classic fish and chips remained. It was busy AF and staff were hit hard and scrambling for most of the night with done in, take out and skip deliveries but we were expecting this and understood the delays. We thought to maybe wait for the crowds to die down and give the staff time to adjust and get their rhythm but we couldn't wait. Our server was awesome, she took great care of us considering she was basically working alone and we were a party of 7. I forgot her name but she had some funky dyed hair going on. She was so sweet and friendly with my kids and spent a few minutes of her valuable time talking with them and getting them some treats. Food was really good, came out quicker than expected. Was surprised that we had to pay extra for the slaw with the fish n chips but that's ok, it was really good. Fish was cooked perfectly, batter was crispy, not too oily and the cod was tender. Was able to upgrade my fries and got the Nashville Hot fries. Really tasty but had very little kick, it was maybe a level higher than black pepper and shouldn't be associated with the word hot. Only suggestion would to leave the aioli on the side and not lightly drizzled on top and to amp up the Scoville units somehow. Pickles were missing as well but I digress, it was a great experience and we plan to return. Service was great under pressure and food was delicious.

There was 10 of us went in here for supper tonight. He couldn't take our orders right. The meal came to the table wrong. 1 person paid at the table, then was accused they didn't pay. He come out to the parking lot and took a picture of her license plate. I went over and told him she paid and she's got her receipt . I’ve reported the restaurant to AHS. They have huge hygiene and safety issues. Don’t go there if you don’t want to get COVID or any kind of disease. The staffs grab your food by their bare hand and without sanitizing. Please read the details. I placed an order from Joey's on Dec 18, through Ubereats and went there to pick it up. While I was waiting for my food in the restaurant, I saw in the kitchen, they had a big container for the cooked fries, the kitchen staff were grabbing the fries by their bare hands and throw into the boxes, they didn't wear gloves or use a scoop at all. There was a person who delivery food from the kitchen to the customers who were waiting at the front door. His hand touched the till and everywhere, then he also packed gravy which they put the container outside the kitchen, he didn't even wash or sanitize his hands. I saw him also helped pack fries as well. I told him this is not right, He talked to the kitchen staff in a different language which I didn't understand. Then he told me the kitchen staff already throw out that specific box of fries when I tried to cancel my order. But first, I was there the whole time, I didn't see them throw out any fries at all, second, it's not about that specific box of fries. I was there about 8 mins, they packed all the fries like that. The whole process doesn't meet the basic hygiene requirements both before and during the pandemic. I refused to take the food b/c it too gross, the cashier or manager refused to cancel the order for me. They even confirmed on the app I picked up. I was charged the full price, how is it possible. How dare you confirmed I picked it up on the app when I didn’t.

Great service. Fair prices. They have 2 for 1 2 piece fish and chips with beverage. Price was $22 for 2 people with drinks. Quality was good. Fish was crispy and fries tasty. Tartar sauce much better than the standard little packets. Waitress really friendly and helpful. All you can eat Tues for 16.99 is a good deal too.

I picked up some food to go at closing time. A nice young lady was happy to oblige. I am glad I did not tip more than a few dollars as the sides tasted off and a young Male server did his best to make me feel uncomfortable while I waited. I am always unsure as to how much to tip for pickup as I have not yet seen the food.

What an amazing mom and pop style seafood diner! Everything is well priced, well portioned, and flavorful to the max; even the fries are seasoned perfectly. Unfortunately, Joey's Fish Shack no longer offers dinner in service without proof of vaccination. My girlfriend and I will have to find a new place to eat, because not everyone is capable of safely getting the vaccine, even though we are more than capable of keeping safe distances and sanitary conditions.

30 mins waiting at a table for a simple order of fish and chips. At the end I tried to pay for my drink and leave but the waitress couldn’t in good consensus give me the bill. The line up for tables and pickups was out the door yet they couldn’t get one order for anyone. The kitchen was completely overwhelmed and came to a grinding stop. Please don’t go there for awhile till they get there kitchen figured out. Fish and chips are very simple. Hard to get wrong. Give them a week or two to get there S**t together and hopefully I’ll pull this review down and give them a good great one. But not now.

That being said the place was very clean and the staff were welcoming. The service was very good and quick. Food was fresh, delicious and the portion size was also very good for what you pay for. I recommend this place

Started going there when new management took over, love the food. The went there and the fish was wet inside and the batter had no colour, and was told it was okay. Mmm I was born in the uk and I know what cod tastes like and I know what the batter should look like, and until that night it was fantastic, please don’t try and save money and make the customer fell as if they were at fault, will not go back ,

Loved this place. Clam chowder was very good and so was the portions of fish and salad. Service was right on target. Our meals were delivered in a timely manner and the waitress checked back with us to ensure the meal was what we requested. I will certainly return.

Owner was very friendly and the fish and chips were delicious. My only comment is the coleslaw could use a little bit more punch, whether that be adding a bit more sweetness to the dressing or perhaps adding more black pepper and horseradish to it.

Waiter had our table. Waitress had 5+ tables. She was more involved with her tables. Waiter gave us ice water, then cool water for refills, got the food wrong, came back one time asking us if we needed anything else, bills wrong, accused a paid customer from our table for not paying. I told him twice that she paid at the table. Took a picture of her license plate to call the police. Told him again he's not allowed to do that to a paying customer, he argued back and walked away. If you're too overwhelmed to handle less than 10 tables in the restaurant, and a few skip the dishes orders, GO HOME! Unreal, never going back. 2/10 - only because the fish and fries were good. Coleslaw is $2 extra ???????? everywhere else gives you a "gravy dish" full of coleslaw. Best refresher on the plate!

We're so happy to hear that Joey’s reopened we been there last night and glad we did that we had best fish and chips and we try there Buddha bowl and sand it was delicious. I think they have best menu ever. It was berry busy but service was great . We will back soon.

Had a craving for fish & chips and this was the nearest place. The restaurant was clean and we were helped immediately. The food was great. Nice and fresh. What made the visit spectacular was our waitress Caussandra. She was attentive, happy, and overall just an absolute joy. Will definitely be back due to the superior service.

Overall it's a good place for the price . taste was so-so, but the service was quite good. you really can't be too picky for the price you paid. however there is room for them to improve. very oily fish and fries just some regular fries, not the best.

I had lunch today with my husband and parents, it was a phenomenal experience largely due to the new owner and staff. They were so kind to all of us, even though we were there for almost 2 hours. The owner in particular is why I am writing this post. He was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile (like offering an extra little dip for a further flavor profile) to make our experience as good as it could be. Food was delicious as always.

Good initial service, but once dinner was served, the waitress was nowhere to be found. Ordered a filet mignon and was served a small square sirloin. Not pleased.
