The Fin Gallery is Calgary's best fish store by far. They carry a huge variety of fish and always have species that are hard to find at other stores. They have a lot of specialty foods too.

While not the largest selection of saltwater livestock, I can attest that the prices and quality are likely the best in town. I've been shopping at two shops on 16th ave for some time and the prices are high, and quality often suspect, but not a Fin Gallery! Thanks so much Wayne!

I love Fin Gallery. Wayne and Victor are so patient and knowledgable. Being new to owning an aquarium I would have given up after my first Betta died. My daughter brought me here for a new Betta and I have since been educated about water and plants and algae (city of calgary thank you for my algae outbreak ☹) I 100% recommend Fin Gallery for new or experienced fish owners.

I’m a regular at Jimmy’s and Pho Daddy, and when Fin Gallery opened up I just had to check it out. I’m a newbie to this whole thing and wasn’t sure where to start. Wayne and Viktor were amazing to deal with throughout the whole process. They have a lifetime of experience and are passionate about what they do. After spending just over 2 hours there, I purchased 2 tanks (a 40 gallon salt water and 10 gallon fresh water). They went above and beyond, including loading everything into my vehicle for me. The knowledgeable staff, the service, and the amazing selection of fish and products are definitely going to keep me coming back. Thanks for everything gentlemen!

The staff were nice but I found the tanks to be a bit unkept with allot of dead fish floating around. The Betta fish where not healthy or in clean water. Could have been a bad/ shipment day when I was there but sadly I was not so impressed. I have since been back there and I was allot happier with what I have seen with conditions and in general they had plenty of fish you don't see often in other stores.

Got some galaxy rasboras they have an amazing selection of species from invertebrates to fish. Amazing employees unlike someother aquatic stores I asked lots of questions and gave great answers. Definitely will be back for some shrimp once my aquarium is ready.

Wayne and Viktor are awesome! They are so helpful and friendly. I’m in here more often than I’d like to admit haha, and I always end up leaving with a new addition, tank, or accessory. The fish are well taken care of for the most part. Unfortunately my last purchase of two mollies ended up with ich, I tried treating it but lost all of my fish in the tank. I don’t blame Fin as I imagine this is something that can happen from time to time. I’ll be back to buy more fish once my tank is thoroughly cleaned and re-filtered! I’d much rather support small, local and passionate business than big box stores.

Went in to take a look at some community fish. Staff said hi, asked what I was looking for, and when I told him he said "yeah you should find some of those around" then sat down at his desk and was on his phone. The tanks had numerous dead fish, some which had clearly been there for awhile, and there were so many dead bettas in milky water. Was ready to buy some corys and was sorely dissapointed.

We arrived for our first visit about 45mins after opening on a Saturday and the gentleman working was absolutely pleasant and appeared knowledgeable. However, the tanks were downright dirty. There was no substrate or plant material for shelter in many tanks. There was significant algae build-up, dead fish, and a few fish appeared dull in colour giving the impression that this wasn’t just an off day. We opted not to buy as we were concerned we would end up with a diseased fish and we didn’t want to support a business that operates this way. We then went to another reputable store in the city only a 15 mins drive away that has impeccably clean tanks and very helpful staff to purchase our fish and we were sure at that point we made the right decision. I’m really quite shocked by the number of positive reviews and only a couple people even mentioned the tanks but they still rated highly. Confused but hopeful we came on the wrong day of the wrong week and this isn’t typical.

???? ????PLEASE READ???????? I write this review in hopes to save people money ???? Fin gallery is the MOST EXPENSIVE store in the city (even more then Pisces which is just insane) Instead go to a place like GOLDS Aquariums or R&L aquariums or SKA shrimp. The fin gallery is an awesome store and all I want to do is throw money at them but why would I spend $6 for one fish when I can buy 3 for $6 from any of the above listed stores. The fin gallery can’t use “we treat our fish with meds and only feed the best”. Okay well you and literally every other store that isn’t petland or petsmart does the same. Oh no! rent is to high in the centre of downtown better raise the prices of fish like crazy! Cool what did you expect? Move to a more sensible location. Only thing they do that I can’t complain about is the betta set up has filtration and air so that’s a plus. Like I said I want to spend money there but the prices need to be sorted ASAP

We've been there twice now and intend on shifting most of our shopping for supplies to here. Honest, caring ownership and prices are pretty much on par with the big chain stores. So why travel to here if a Pet-Whatever store is closer? Simple: healthy fish and honest advice.

Fin Gallery is the best place to purchase fish in the city, hands down. They get in such an amazing selection of fish, and I've found some really cool fish here that you can't get anywhere else. We're talking ultra rare fish that many places in Canada don't even get. Every time I come in here, there is always something new and exciting that I haven't seen before. The stock here has always been really healthy, and I've rarely had any issues. Pisces has been horrible in recent years with sick and diseased fish, and therefore I only buy fish from Fin. This is a huge plus for me, I can trust their stock, and the deaths I've had from here is close to 0. Wayne (the owner) is a nice guy and very knowledgeable as well. He also hires some very nice staff members, who love to just chat about fish, and will answer any questions that you have, or to just talk about tanks and the love of the hobby. I've always had great service here. I HIGHLY recommend this place. It is the premier location in the city for fish.

dope aquarium huge selection of freshwater fish very reasonably priced. they treat their fish when they arrive for disease so less worries. they have some rare salt water fish i have not seen anywhere else in the city. staff is friendly and knowledgeable. All in all my new favorite aquarium I will be shopping there in the future. p.s. the pho shop upstairs is gloriously delicious. you could even make a date of it buy a fish and eat some Pho of the Gods. What could be better?

Wow just wow, literally the best aquarium in all of Calgary. Prices are exactly what they should be and stock is amazing. For a store 1/3rd the size of piscies I could probably walk around in there for hours just chatting with the staff and admiring their exotic collection of beautiful fish. Piscies staff is great but often don’t know more about what their selling than what google tells them. Here you will find employees who have actually owned the stock and know what they are talking about rather than trying to sell you on expensive junk you do not need. I literally cannot stress enough how amazing of a store this is, they have completely made me rethink what a fish shop should be. I can confidently say I will NEVER be going anywhere but here ever again for supplies even though I live across the city. Fin gallery, you are the best, thank you for re igniting my passion for the hobby.

This place has such a great selection of fresh and saltwater fish. I’ve kept tetras, bettas, glo fish, danios, etc. basically all common freshwater fish, and the ones I get from here tend to be healthier and live longer than other pet stores. Their betta selection is unmatched, and I found my favourite little koi betta here. The staff are also very helpful, especially when one of my bettas was sick and I was looking for medication for him. You can tell they care about the fish. I’ve only seen dead fish floating around the tanks during one visit here, but every other time this place was pristine. Such a cool hidden gem downtown.
