Have bought so much fresh seafood from the bountiful market in south Edmonton, the oysters are so fresh and imported from around the world, New Zealand ones are amazing , the fresh cuts of fish , sushimi grade salmon , thick ling cod fillets are delicious, next on our list is the lobster which will be brought to the market on our request, the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and if they don't have an answer the boss is on speed dial , best place for seafood ever !!

Visits to Effing Seafoods are the highlight of my day. Warm welcomes, knowledgeable staff and exceptional fresh and frozen products. Rob and his team are incredibly passionate and have taught me so much about a product I often avoided before. Nowadays, I hardly go in with a plan and instead enjoy taking recommendations (including much needed cooking tips) for the night’s dinner. Bought a piece of tuna from them at the St Albert market. It was ok , very average and certainly not as fresh as claimed. It was super expensive, at least 40 percent more than at other places like T nT and definitely no better. I would highly recommend you not shop here unless you have money to burn and feel that by paying a premium you automatically get premium product. A side by side comparison will convince you you are not buying premium product here. Just paying exorbitant prices

I don't visit often, but I have been coming here for over a year now for when I need some fresh high quality seafood to cook with. They have lobster and crabs with many different varieties of oysters and fish, along with lots of frozen products. Sometimes there's food that is prepared in house by the Effing Chef (aka Robbie) such as tuna or salmon poke bowls, lobster rolls, lobster mac n cheese and many other items where you can take home and bake them. I've tried the poke bowls, lobster rolls and lobster mac n cheese and they all tasted really good. Robbie is one hell of an amazing chef and is always cooking up amazing food at the Effing Market. Rob and his staff are amazing and always so helpful. You can tell that Rob has so much passion for seafood because you can see his big smile on his face when he talks to you about seafood. The staff and Rob are very knowledgeable with seafood products and Rob also has really great tips on how to cook them. Rob's a really great guy and he has lots of great stories to tell you if you ever want to hear some. You can also find Rob and his staff at different Farmer's Market around the city during the year whether it be summer or winter and with the same quality of seafood. I highly recommend the Effing Market if you want fresh high quality seafood; you won't be dissapointed.

Very clean beautiful store with a bathroom worth checking out! Lots of selection for fresh fish, live crab, and even an oyster bar. If you are like me and know absolutely nothing about fish, Rob the owner takes the time to make sure you get what you're looking for. He and his staff are very knowledgeable about all the products they carry so I learned a lot. Even if fish aren't your thing they have a freezer that is stocked with local products like meat pies, bone broth, dumplings and even ice cream (I recommend the pistachio!) Well worth your trip into St Albert, just make sure you ring the bell on your way out!

What an awesome little gem! Was shown this recently and fast becoming my favorite place to get fresh and frozen seafood. The prices can be a bit high at times but comes with quality and when you taste what you get you will be converted. Was a happy customer until a recent very disappointing purchase of frozen scallops. When I defrosted and cooked the scallops, I discovered that they had an ammonia smell which indicates that they were rotten and had gone bad. The scallops probably were beginning to build up toxins. It is extremely dangerous to sell spoiled seafood, as someone should never eat items like this, since it can cause great sickness or even death. Even more disappointing was that I immediately contacted Effing Seafoods about the problem but received no response. Extremely disappointed. Please confirm.

I like supporting local businesses, especially during the current Covid situation. Having said that, they must still provide knowledgeable service and quality products to keep me coming back. Rob at Effing does both. I recently visited to purchase some of the limited seasonal BC spot prawns inventory. The store is clean and well laid out. Rob personally assisted in providing information on the multitude of products offered, and also gave advice on several cooking options for each. It's well worth the drive to St. Albert to meet him.

If you are Covid conscious, here you can relax. You don't touch anything, you have someone with you from the time you walk in. They will answer your questions and select product for you and even help you with cooking instructions. The staff is supremely friendly and Rob and Shaun know their seafood. Highly recommend.
