While the food was good the placement of the order and pickup was frustrating and a deterrent from ordering in the future. When order was placed I was told 30 minutes for pickup. I arrived after 30 minutes and had to wait another 30 minutes. When I left I asked if the order was complete and was told it was. I got home and a number of items were missing from the order. Then I had to go back and by then the order was cold.
Ordered a poutine for my daughter and it consisted of soggy fries and shredded cheese. Not worth the price at all. Threw it out as she said it tasted bad. Won’t be back to try their other items as if that’s what a “poutine” is about I don’t want to know what the other items are like.
Great tasting
Great fish! Great fries! Doesn't get better than that!!!!
I really like the food here and friendly service.
Very friendly people and great fish and chips!!
Best fish and chips I've ever had in Alberta. Dressing and gravy was also wonderful! Will be stopping here again.
Too greasy. Over priced for what you get.
Ordered some fish and chips got two huge pieces of fish and lots of chips. Was amazing. Definitely coming back for the amazing food and friendly service!
Stopped in for a quick bite on our way to Castrol. Service was friendly and fast. A bit off the beaten path but worthwhile! We had the Murphy Sandwich. Price is fair at 6.99 considering the fish portion is decent size. Fish was fresh and moist. Bun was also fresh. Coleslaw was alright, could have used a bit more (I love coleslaw though). We will be back to try more of their menu! Lots of options.
Very disappointed! A simple order of fish and chips took almost the whole time of my 30-min lunch break to prepare and it was ultra greasy.
Loved it, fish was fresh and crispy and the Newfie Fries are a new favorite.
You need to go here and try there food,so bloody awesome and delicious!!, ????????????????????????
Great food!
Had the best Fish Fry and Gravy ! We got take out and everyone was full there was so much food in one order Can't wait for take out night again soon we will be back
Very tasty, crispy fries, batter light and crispy. Will come again here for sure.
It was barely ok-ish. Ordered a 1 piece cod and fries, added dressing and gravy, and a can of coke and was $15.30. They poured the gravy all over the cod as well when they put the dressing and gravy on the fries so it made the fish extra soggy, so I wasn't a big fan of that. I prefer yo use the tartar sauce on my fish, not gravy. Not sure if that was intentional but if it was, it shouldn't be. The parts of the cod that weren't covered in gravy were soggy as well. No crisp to the batter at all. Fries were very soggy. No crisp to them at all. Either their oil needs changed or I got served fries that sat a bit after cooked. Not sure about the dressing. Seemed a bit blah to me. Overall.....not worth the money in my opinion. I will stick with "Brits fish and chips". Now that's some good fish and chips!
It's your average fish n chips place. And that's what makes it so good. Located in Stony Plain and being the "new kid" when it comes to fish n chips it beats all the other joints hands down. They maintain that old school feel and taste. Having not changed hands several times It hasn't gone downhill with every iteration like the other places in the area, to which is slim pickings at best as it is. So this is a welcome addition to the area for sure. So if you looking for some good ol fish and chips come here. I only hope it keeps up for the years to come.
Amazing as qays. Super friendly folks there. Thanks guys
Good selection of items from back home. We usually call before heading over though as some items aren’t always in stock.
The Halibit was to die for. Great staff, all in all a great little diversion.
Medocore seafood made popular by the areas influx of east coasters. It's expensive and the people preparing it have difficulty prioritizing and poor time management skills. The last time I ordered a family fish and chips I was told it would be ready in one hour! One hour to batter and fry fish and chips!!
Amazing food. This is what Fish and chips is supposed to taste like
If you're looking for a great place to get some authentic east coast food this is your spot!! I work in the beer industry and go to minimum 1-10 restaurants/pubs/bars per day and their prices are great despite what other reviews may say.
good food friendly lady behind the counter cute little shop
Amazing fish and chips (get the cod), although I wish the menu could also include a newfie dessert
Really good food the fish is light and delicious i like that you can mark your name on the flag on the wall also the service is really good i give them a big thumbs up and will recommend them to all my friends and family
Staff is friendly and food is great. The best part is the quality of the seafood. I'm not really a big "seafood" person, but this place quickly changed my mind. Portions are big and delicious :)
Love this place. WAY better than the typical fish and chips places in the city, no joke. Fish is fresh and so tasty, the batter is great, and best of all, it's not drowning in grease! Prices are fantastic for the amount of food you get. Had great conversation with the owner, told us all about how he makes the traditional 'east coast style' fish, and the pride in his food surely shows. Very lovely people. Will keep coming back for sure!!
I thought I had stopped liking fish and chips when I moved out West from NS in '08. 14 years later, and after my first sit down meal at Cod Fadders, I've concluded it was because I was unable to find the most authentic "back home" fish and chips place I've ever been to - until now. I only wish I would have ventured out to Stony Plain earlier, as it is a bit out of the way from where I live, but fate had it that I found myself in the area the other day, so I finally experienced what I'd been hearing about for years. The picture I uploaded? Yeah, It was as mind-blowingly good as it looks - actually even better. Two pieces of tender, perfectly cook haddock in a phenomenal crispy batter that you could just pull pieces off with your fingers to dip into tangy tarter sauce... I was almost brought to tears, which hasn't happened to me over a fish since watching Finding Nemo. Perfection ???????? Trust me, I've eaten at a lot of fish and chip places over the past decade plus change, and mostly to disappointment at that. This is easily twice as good as anywhere else, and that's coming from someone whose family back home are multigenerational fishermen. Anyway, go give them some business, they deserve it. I know where I'll be going next time I get a fish and chips craving. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I visited their food truck and it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. Not sure how the restaurant is. But the food was amazing. Pretty decently priced looking forward to stopping by the restaurant location.
Really enjoyed the family deal we got tonight. The cod was perfect and the fries were delicious. The tarter sauce, however, could be better (it didn't really taste like tarter sauce, a little bit too much mayo in this one) and the coleslaw was very plain, it really didn't have any flavor, in my opinion. But the fish, oh the fish batter just melted in my mouth like butter and the actual cod was very nicely cooked, it was perfect! The fries, though they weren't crispy, (but personally I prefer the softer texture) were really good! Will definitely be returning, but just for the cod and fries.
I have never been down East...but that’s what I imagine fresh cod would taste like if I was there!!
NOT good!!! Fish was NOT moist and the dressing was very DRY.
Used to be the best fish and chips in the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain area, no longer making home fries. It's too bad because I used to love going to this place.
Codfadders fish and chip is exceptional!!! The tarter sauce is lacking, tastes like expensive mayo. But the Fish is fresh and cooked to perfection! The fries are made there and you can tell. The cole slaw was light and flavorful. A gem in Stony!!
Staff is happy and helpful. Food is average. They are moving to stony plain in the near future.
Was ok
A taste of home. Always enjoy eating here. The fries, dressing, and gravy is authentic Newfie style.
Codfadder's is located out in the Acheson Industrial Area. The atmosphere is simple, and quaint, but the food speaks for itself. Great crispy and light battered seafood, amd hand cut fries. The service makes you feel welcome with that authentic east coast charm. I will definitely be here again.
Great place for seafood in Atchison. You vet lots of chips.
Decent Fish and Chips from the Stony Plain location (where the old Mary Browns was). Lunch time seems to be a bit slow by the looks of it. None the less I was greeted by almost all the staff I think, they were all very friendly. I ordered the 2 Piece Cod and Chips to go, as I was on my lunch break. They insured I had the proper sauces and utensils while I waited. I only waited about 5 minutes which is pretty good. The Fish was still crisp by the time I got back to the office, and the Fish was very juicy and the batter was very light. (the outside of the batter had residual oil from the fryer but overall didn't affect the taste). The fries appeared to be hand-cut, I got mine plain but they were bountiful. Overall good portion sizes, average prices, and friendly staff. I would recommend.
Tarter sauce very bland, portions a good size, alot of French fries but we found the food greasy.
Loved the food and service. Highly recommended.
Just had the best feed of Cod. And thanks for the greens. Can't wait to try
Very Delicious, I will get it again.
Greasy Soggy dark Fries fried in old oil. Fish was okish. Won't go back there.
This place is hit or miss
It's so nice to have a great fish and chips place right in Stony! My spouse insists on having it at least once a week. The fish and chips is always great...my only complaint is the tartar sauce is a little mayo-y for me.
Great food and service. Drove all the way from the city and will definitely be back. Nothing inside Edmonton compares.
Very fresh fish cooked perfect not to greasy and the fries are tasty. Tartar and gravy also good. Not a huge fish fan to start with I thought this was great. They also sell frozen prepared donair items, the donair bites are good.
Decent out of the way location, authentic fish and chips @ its finest. Awesome friendly staff great family environment, Id vouch for this hidden gem.
Best seafood that I have had in YEG
There was some confusion during the order placement and ended up with haddock instead of halibut. Instead of making a deal out of it said not to worry. Eddie ended up asking if I wanted a piece of halibut due to the mix up and brought it out while eating. Their fish was fantastic and I even ended up enjoying the haddock more. Good customer service and good food. Will definitely go back.
LOVE THE FOOD, but Google says they close at 7pm when they actually close at 6pm (please confirm?).
Large portions and great fries!
Exceptional! As an Ontario girl, I approve. Tastes just like Street food back home. I ordered a 2 piece cod and chips, with gravy and coleslaw and it was a generous portion. We will be eating here again!
Amazing staff and awesome food
First timer here! The cod melted in my mouth, so delicious. I newfoundland’ my order, cause why not mate. Well worth the experience.
I was having a bad day with my adhd and needed some fish. (Omega 3) I was working in this town and drove by this place. I never expected it in stony plain!! The season fries are so yummy!!! (Gravy ). The one cod lunch is sooo good. Crush with a birch beer crush!! If I can’t go to Newfoundland I’m going to come eat here!!!
Wow. The fish and chip place we have been looking for. We had the 3 piece cod and chips. Fisherman's crate and kids cod and chips for my 3 year old. The fish was done to perfection. Light and crisp batter. Nice meaty fish in the middle. The fries were excellent. I took this to go as it was the only option during social distancing. After driving it home for 15 min it was still better than anything else I've had in Edmonton. I cant wait til I can dine in. Oh yah. Tartar sauce was the perfect pair for the fish. And I had vinegar for my fries.
Very tasty not oily like some others I've had. Pretty fast for the freshness of it as well.
We ordered the family size and my boys and The boy’s devoured it and we will definitely be going back. The Tarter sauce is really nice and the fish was huge! Best chips as well. Soooooo happy to have a fish and chips place in Stony Plain! Will be a favourite forsure.
I ordered two pieces of halibut and fries. My wife ordered one piece of cod, fries and dressing and gravy. Both orders came with tartar sauce and coleslaw. The tartar sauce tasted more like mayonnaise, not like any tartar sauce I've ever had. The coleslaw was unremarkable. The halibut was great, cooked perfectly, possibly a bit two much batter. My wife said the cod was okay but nothing special. Notable: she didn't finish it and she normally loves cod. The portions were good but the price was higher than expected, expensive for fish and chips. I'd go there again but no more than a couple times a year simply because of the high price.
Best halibut and chips I've had!
Haddock was great! Proximity to the Glowing Embers RV park is an added bonus.
Wonderful people are awesome
Thank you for coming to stony plain , we needed a good fish and chips store . some of the best fish and chip's ive had in Alberta!
Not worth the price as for a so called seafood place. Just like you standard fish & chips at any were else.
Enjoyed my wings but the fish was tasteless unfortunately.
best fish and chips i've had since leaving the west coast and some how i've lucked out it's so close to home. great fish batter - not too thick or oily. great staff that were super friendly.
Great food. Taste just like the east coast
Owners were super friendly and chatty, love that! Food was awesome! Wish I took a pic. A little pricy, but the good quality makes it worth the price.
It was ok, found it overpriced and a little greasy. Better options available in my opinion.
Good fish
Love it
Great food, friendly staff
Real good food go there see
Great tasting fish and chips. Very friendly staff.
Awesome newfi food
Had cod n chips. Was great. Portion was just right. Location is odd. Ill be back.
Best fries in Alberta.. best fries dressing n gravy that we have had out here, almost like home! Fish n chips were yummy and super filling...service was great as most staff checked to make sure everything was good! If they could bring in some roast chicken chips for dessert my Newf would be in heaven!
Great food and staff
Absolutely amazing!
Happy little place with great staff and lots of down home style choices! (Down home if your from the east) great food very filling even with the one piece options
Great food and service is always great
Ordered fish and chips. Cod is what I ordered. Lots of fish and not heavy on the batter. Which I like. Found it greasy though. Service was great. I went in with my 4 month old baby. I Was feeding her after I ordered. They brought my food to me, to help me out. No change table in bathroom though. Usually I avoid places that are not baby accommodating, like highchair or change tables
Always great food.
Very good fish and the shrimp were huge.
Lots of food. People are friendly
One of the better seafood take-outs we have come across. Good enough to warrant the trip from southeast Edmonton.
Wow! What great food. The service was awesome! I have had Haddock in 4 places in the last month and this was by far the a Best. Only wish we lived closer or they franchise out.
We were on our way home on a cold afternoon and stopped by to try the Cod Fish 'n Chips for takeout. The batter was light, non greasy and the fries were crispy .. just the way we like them. Great tarter sauce and the coleslaw was light and not too sweet. Perfect. We also couldn't resist the frozen selection of Newfoundland seafood for sale, leaving with some reasonably priced frozen cod and HUGE shrimp. We will definitely be back. Friendly and hometown service. Welcome to Stony Plain.
Been meaning to try the Fish 'n Chips for a while... tried the Halibut 'n Chips WOW!!! ???? Kind of upset with myself that I took so long to try it. My meal was fantastic!!! Shop Local, Support Local ????????????
Wife and I went there and made a special trip from West Edmonton. We ordered fries, dressing and gravy with out cod. We get home, open our meal packs and realize that neither one of us got what we ordered. No dressing and gravy even though we paid for it. Very disorganized. Very disappointed. Will not be repeating.
great food friendly staff
The fish was delicious and so was the poutine. Will definitely be ordering again.
Decent fish and chips and seafood place run by Easterners. Had fish and chips and they were good. I recomend.
Down home personalities and great food
First time my wife and I where at this place , the fish and chips was good , will go back for another feed
Fish was great, fries not so much and I wish they would put the fish on top of the fries so as that the fish doesn't get so soggy in the box... also seemed quite disorganized.
They DOUBLE charged me. When I called to inform them I explained it was on their food truck at a baseball tournament. The lady said she would have the owner call me - I have received NO call. I thought they were overpriced to begin with, and now having them charge my card twice that amount is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!
Always super tasty food and a great atmosphere
Same price as most fish and chips but a 2 piece fish equals one piece at Brits or back home. Batter was not crispy enough and fries were soggy.
Was quoted 30 min wait time when I called in to order for pick up. Got there at the allotted pick up time and had to wait and additional 35 minutes because they were so behind on orders. Otherwise, fish and chips were great. ???? Crispy and delicious.
Huge tasty pieces of fish. Fries need a little something.... Great service.
Calling all East coasters you have found your home away from home. Delicious fish n chips. So yummy
Exorbitant prices - $18.00 for 2 large pieces of fish and fries that appeared to originate from a bag of no name. Also food was very greasy
Amazing food, quick service and fresh fish!!
Just had some excellent haddock and chips from here. Service was very friendly as well. I will be recommending.
This was great fish , will recommend it everyone I know.
Best place for seafood. All fish brought in from East coast Canada. Very fresh and delicious food, and service that is amazing. This place is just like going out for dinner in maritime Canada.????????????????
Like eating at home and by home I mean NL
Best fish in Alberta. Way better than back home fish and chips
Great fish and chips!
Great service .. outstanding fish n chips Its the real deal
Terrible....tried it twice, ate IN the restaurant and the fish was soggy and cold in the middle, both times. Good fish and chips should be nice and crispy, not soggy. Not cooked enough for sure. They say it is from the east coast and I can tell you I'm from the east coast maritimes and this is not good down home fish and chips imo. The pieces are small and expensive for the portions you get. Some reviews on here say it is greasy. Of course it will be greasy due to deep fried but this is not a yummy greasy lol, it's soggy. Yuck! I don't think this place will last. Will never be back. Docherty's is way better
Good food good service
Was extremely disappointed! After reading the reviews I was expecting some exceptional fries and fish, what we received was bland and greasy. The tarter sauce is basically mayo, the gravy was gross packaged stuff. Don't waste your time or money going her, very expensive and definitely not worth it.
Eastern comfort food at its best. Watch out for google maps location it's wrong. Follow your nose you'll find it.
2pc cod and fries... SO GOOD!!! I'll definitely be back!! ????????
Great fish and chips
Haddock was really good and the fries are solid. Nice to get crispy fries at a fish and chips place. Portion sizes were interesting. Gravy (which was that powdered stuff you buy in bags) and coleslaw were the same size, which is odd as most FnC places load you up on coleslaw. Was charged $9 for 4 shrimp. They tasted great, but quite pricey. The restaurant was also out of quite a bit of menu items, which was disappointing. Overall though, the actual fish was amazing and everything tasted great, but, it was pricey.
Absolutely terrible food , unless of course you prefer overpriced greasy undercooked fish served with greasy undercooked fries. Save your money and buy something better. It would be hard to find worse.
Been there several time... if you like a fancy restaurant with snobby staff... and expensive food on nearly empty plates, then you won’t find it there... but if you want a comfortable place with friendly staff... and lots of food... then this is the place for you.
Really good food. Good portions too
Great Cod! Soggy fries, a little pricey, and not as friendly as most.
So nice too have the down home, feeling, people and great food, great prices. Thank bye
Had the best meal of fish and chips today. The staff are AWESOME and very accommodating. This was the first time we have been to the new location. It has a great friendly atmosphere what we have come to expect from Codfadders. Will be back when we pass thru again.
Really good just like back home. The home cut fries are great.
So disappointing had this before and the food was good but today was so awful. Parts of the order missing and nothing done about it. Well thats how you loose customers one of the guest phoned the store back and was hung up on. Something needs to be done about customer service the sad thing is the person on the phone said they were one of the owners. Fries over cooked and the fish didn't even taste like fish.
Currently have fish tacos made from scratch! So delicious a must try! Best fish I've had
Perfect east coast fish!
Good prices and great food!!
Fish wasn't quite the way I like it
Newfies there by. Wicked.
Best fish and chips around
great fish and chips! and great eastern hospitality
Just like home! Da best fish n chips! Nice staff!
Loves the staff and amazing food just like home
Absolutely the best fish and chips I've had in Stony Plain!!
Food was good, Cod and fries was very fresh. Owner even showed us a box of fresh Fish he had just flown in. The lady running the show was literally asleep in the chair when we showed up and we had to wake her ???? Food made up for the more then interesting Greeting!
Best fish and chips in Parkland County, def best I have had in Alberta
Very slow
Great place to grab some fish and chips. Guy was super friendly.
We drive out from West Edmonton specifically for this fish and chips however this time they changed the portion sizes, it is no longer worth the drive. Taste great but it was like a kids meal. Additionally neither of our meals got coleslaw that is supposed to come with it.
Service was good, fish was overly cooked not impressed at all ????
The best fish and chips ????????
Amazing food!! I don't normally like fish but I absolutely loved the fish from this restaurant! The fish batter is not to greasy , and its thin and crisp!
Delicious cod, loved the fish chips dressing gravy, fresh food and obviously hand made and made with love, would reccommend this place to anyone in Stony plain to Sherwood park, I personally think it's worth the drive
Tucked away in the Acheson industrial area south of Highway 16A and on the west side of the Devon highway, this is a great fish and chip place. The fish batter was light, crisp and not greasy! Enjoyed the meal tremendously. Owner was friendly and the meals came out hot and quickly. Well worth the short drive out from Spruce Grove.
