Being from the Maritimes, it's hard to believe you could find a place in Edmonton that actually knows how to cook fish. It was cooked to perfection. The fries and coleslaw were delicious too and the service was fast and friendly.

We went this place so many times but its not even a year and your food don't even taste like it started how it was. Stop using cheap products. use good oil or your food leaves mark on plate and tell the quality of oil you using. Nobody likes soggy fries.

Have been to C lovers across BC. Definitely this the worst one .fish was dry tasteless very poor service and Careless managment. After ordering food l asked for a plate for my child, because l don't like the fries .l was told no sharing and refused the plate .No other clovers ever did this . You still paying for the meal . Great place for all-you-can-eat fish (pollock) and chips. The battered fish was piping hot and fresh, with a nice crispy outside. The fries could be a bit crispier. Other specific kinda of fish (halibut, cod, etc...) are also available as regular dishes. The restaurant also has bottomless soft drinks. Overall it was very clean and a good place for a late lunch as it wasn't too busy. Wait staff were very cordial and made for a positive experience.

Horrible takeout. Just grabbed it while passing through and it’s completely soggy (despite opening it 5 minutes or less after picking it up), no tartar sauce, no fork, no salt on the fries. Just a bland soggy mess that’s barely edible.

Incredibly friendly service, very clean and welcoming. Bottomless pop was constantly refilled! I had the haddock platter...one piece haddock, 2 oysters, 3 prawns, fries and coleslaw. Huge portion. Fresh, perfectly cooked, batter on fish and prawns very light and non oily, batter on oysters was like a kentucky fried chicken style and delicious. Hubby had the same but salmon instead of haddock and he loved it. Their tartar sauce has lots of dill....yum! Coleslaw had too much mayo for our preference but it was fresh and nice and cold. Loved the service and food. We will be regulars as we are moving to the area. Update—this place keeps getting better and better. Its a regular spot for us now. Customer service is excellent and WOW the Takeout Special for $39.99 is the deal of the century!!! EXCELLENT!! We however DO NOT recommend the oysters anymore. The last few times we have ordered them they have had a very funky taste to them and were full of shells.

DO NOT DO TAKEOUT!!! They wrap it so tightly that the heat turns the crispy batter to MUSH! A totally ruined experience at a VERY high price! You would think the staff or owners or management would know this problem by now considering others have made the same complaint. There are ways to fix this problem but perhaps an arrogance to not bother as the quality is good and there's not enough takeout business to care.

This place has amazing food, the batter they use on all the fried items is light, doesn't taste like oil, and isn't oily. It's also still nice and crispy. The portion sizes are huge for the prices. The c food chowder was a little bland though, it needed salt and pepper.

Service was good. We got our food in good time. The problem is the size of the fish pieces. If they got any smaller it would be just batter. I have come twice in the last month and believe it will be the last. You receive very small 3/4 inch wide fish about 5 inches long and then batter. Very sad.

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I went for dining with my family as I tried C lovers in Kelowna and loved it but here I feel that I got totally ripped off. The meals are so expensive compared to the quality of food being delivered. Fish had no taste and the fries were overly cooked and gross. I also ordered oysters and it had more batter than the oyster itself. If you want to save your money then please don’t go to this place , instead go to joeys where you get better quality food.

Just at the restraunt now, and I'm very disappointed. I have a gluten allergy and I can't have the batter, so I ask for all you can eat fish and chips but the fish steamed. Every C-Lovers does it for me BUT Chilliwack. The server was very kind and apologetic which it's not her fault, it's her cheap boss The steamed fish on the menu is $9 for a very small piece of fish.. way too much money. Very very upset and will NOT be returning. Horrible management ????

Their fish was lightly batted and fried, not overly greasy and the tarter sauce was nice and light in flavor. Beware the iced tea... It comes as only sweetened and with lemon flavor. Their fried pickles are a treat though! And their fried mushrooms are quite good, just let them cool before eating or you'll have no taste buds left to enjoy your food lol. Everything is served nice and piping hot. The staff wasn't super outgoing but they were definitely on top of making sure we never ran out of fish on the all you can eat fish n chips that we ordered.

Good Halibut and chips! Been to a couple different C-Lovers locations, the Chilliwack one has been best. I always get halibut and the fish isn't over battered or greasy. Why doesn't tartar sauce come with the combos though? ???? Not the best fish n chips on the coast, but you could do a lot worse!

Been to c lovers now over 6 times. I always get the haddock. And can say it's the best in and surrounding areas of edmonton. I see lots of negative comments. Most are saying Joey's fish and chips are better. Well in my opinion. I think it's people that work or know staff and just add negative comments. The c lovers shop is spot less. Staff are really nice. Fish can be seen been cooked. It's super hot when you get it. Would always recommend them over all other fish shops out there. Been to them all over the years and c lovers are hands down the best.

Very tiny pieces of all you can eat fish.. basically no taste to the fish or batter. Fries were ok..soggy but ok..coleslaw is an extra add on charge.. tartar sauce was mostly all mayonnaise. Not worth going back. If the fish actually had some sort of taste or spice it would be but tastes like its battered with plain flour. Cannot take your left overs home.. They would rather waste the food and throw it out. At least my cat would have eaten it. The waitress was not very helpful at all with drinks or anything else. Overall pretty sad...just was not a great experience

My kids and I went to C-Lovers after living in Chilliwack for over 3 years. My daughter and I shared the platter for 2 and all the food was delicious. The onion rings were crispy and soft, the fish was tasty and the shrimp was amazing. The waitress was really nice and friendly. I would recommend this place ????

Four of us ate here. We were given no more than 60 seconds before the server came to take our order. When we said we weren't ready, she returned after one more minute. Repeat one more time. Clearly, getting people in and out quickly was on our server's mind. Table was dirty and we were given 'a look' when we asked to have it wiped. The food is good if you value quantity over quality. Huge portions made with mediocre ingredients. Not for food snobs like me.

My mom and I were in on September 2. We phone to see if they had Ac the women on the phone said yes.So we went for dinner when we got there it got warmer and warmer. We asked the waitress about the ac she said it was working and because The door was opening and closing that why it got hot. Which was not true. My mom is a diabetic and was get sick the waitress was one so she should know how it feels but she and the guy that was cooking didn't care. My mom did eat some of the fish. But couldn't finish the rest as it was to hot in the restaurant. The cook couldn't even come over to say sorry about the ac not working right. All he cared about was making money. Never going back there.there are better restaurant then this one. Were maybe they treat their customers better. And other people were saying it was getting hot to in the Restaurant.

First time here. The usage of tables could be better arranged during covid times. We ordered the c-lovers platter. It was very large plate for 1 person. The fish was over cooked but I believe that had to do because how thin the piece was. It was still tasty. The coleslaw was awesome. Prawns and onion rings were pretty decent. Restaurant was clean and service was great. The French fries were cooked perfectly and NOT soggy like most fish and chip places. I would return here again.

I found this place by accident. I was googling a local fish and chips place and couldn't find anything with good prices. Me and my boyfriend live on other side of the city. He drove me here to get take out and i got the 2 haddock piece meal with fries. I have never been here before. This place is incredible!!! Delicious fish and excellent batter! The home made tar tar sauce is so good. Flavor is fantastic. Almost like hint of a dill flavor? The fries! So yummy!!! The fries are thick and chunky and quite greasy. But in a good way.so flavorful! Seems like fries cooked in same pil as the fish, which is awesome! Very filling meal. We will definitely be back again! Also the packaging is quite different. You get your fries and fish wrapped up in paper. No container or anything. Pretty cool!

As a fish and chip lover I thought I would try somewhere other than Joey's. We often get from there and for 21 bucks we eat well, with coleslaw included. C Lovers cost 15 more for less food, and awful food. The cod had no flavor and was so dry, that even the lemon, which they forgot to include, could not moisten the dry fish. The batter was soggy, and it all stank like the paper its wrapped in. Fries were disgusting, no flavor. The coleslaw was bare, so little dressing, that it was just cabbage, plus its not even included in your meal. I can not understand why it costs so much? Will never go back. Guess I will stick with Joeys. Better food and better prices. sorry to say but whoever thinks this is great quality fish and chips has obviously never had great quality fish.

We always get the takeout special. It's great value for a group or for a couple meals worth of food, always crispy, and leftovers crisp up nicely in the oven the next day. The house tartar sauce is worth the extra couple of loonies. I would never go without it. My British relatives include the fish and chips from here on their very short list of "most authentically British fish and chips they've ever had in Canada". Every time they visit Kamloops they try to make time to eat here.

I ordered the two piece Cod dinner. The cod was perfect and the batter very light. Chips where also very good and the mushy peas where spot on. If someone puts good food in front of me it isn't there long and this meal disapeared very fast. I know my fish n chips, I'm from Hull in East Yorkshire UK and this meal gets a 9/10. Why only nine ? Bread cake was a little dry and for a bread cake of that size two little rubs of butter just weren't quite enough. I will most definitely be back and I see I can get it delivered too ! ????????????

It was my first time ordering take out at this place (North Side) and l am not very impressed. The halibut was very thin and the portions were small. Besides it, the batter was not bad, but not great. The coleslaw is good, but it is charged apart. The fries did not have any seasoning. Ah, and the bill was more expansive than l had imagined. I hadn't heard of C-Lovers before and didn't know we had a new fish and chips place here in north Edmonton, just happened to see it when I was at the plaza the previous day. They maybe need to advertise more - send out flyers or something. We ordered the haddock and chips last night. Absolutely fantastic!! The fish filets were generous size portions, the fries thick and perfectly cooked. We usually order from Joey's but going forward, C-Lovers will be our new go-to place for authentic English fish & chips wrapped in newspaper. The fish batter was light and flaky and the fish cooked to perfection. The fish itself tasted so fresh it was like it was just caught. Their homemade tartar sauce was thick and creamy with the taste on point. The to-go service was fast and the tables were filled with folks dining in and enjoying a drink. Two pieces of haddock and more fries than you could eat was 18.57. The gravy is thick, rich and flavourful. We will definitely be going back and telling family and friends about it.

My husband, my niece(28 years old) and myself went to Chilliwack C-Lovers October 15th. My husband had the prawn dinner, my neice and I had all you can eat. We found the food very greasy, I ended up taking the batter of the fish and ate it like that, I could not eat my chips, my niece only ate 1 pieces of her fish and very few of her chips, Husband only ate 1/2 of his prawns and some chips. They were very busy so we did not complain there. The service was great, atmosphere was nice but were not pleased with the food . We live in Cache Creek, We eat at Vernon location quite often and have also in Kelowna location. What I think is the problem is that the oil is not quite hot enough.

Had the all-you-can-eat in Edmonton today. Restaurant is great. Food is good. This is an excellent deal because it includes a bottomless soft drink. My only complaint is that the soft drink did not taste like name brand. The fountain dispenser behind the counter shows name brand (Pepsi) but I can almost guarantee you that I wasn’t drinking Pepsi. It tasted like no-name or store brand. The fish was very good and I did not find it greasy at all. The fries are also very good. These are not your McDonald’s American style fries. These fries will very much appeal to anyone familiar with Montreal style fries. The fries are very good. If you order the all-you-can-eat, coleslaw is not included but I have no issue with that considering the excellent price. Service was also very good and attentive. There was no problem getting additional fish and service was prompt. Also, the fish is served immediately and not sitting because it always comes extremely hot. I would highly recommend this restaurant and give it less than full marks only because of the less than satisfying taste of the beverage. Service was excellent and the two servers were available to anyone which was a plus because you didn’t have to wait for your own server, common to many restaurants where servers have pre-determined sections.

Edit: For the third time we have dined here the fish batter is not right. I complained each time that there's yellow goopy spots but apparently that hasn't changed. The food & drinks were great. The resturant was really clean & well looked after. Same for the bathroom. Prices were also very reasonable. Felt a bit judged by the staff by the staff for being a big guy getting the all you can eat fish n chips then they looked like they felt bad when I tipped well anyways. Overall a positive experience. I would reccomend. Lots of old people seem to like going there.

As a person that loves fish and fond of fish and chips I spotted this place close to my condo, so I stopped in for supper. I will say the staff was very friendly and 5 stars but as for the food, I can only give it 3 stars. I found the fish, shrimp and onion rings to be very greasy, the fries were alright. I ordered the halibut and I've never seen a square and thin piece of halibut, so I'm not even sure if it was halibut. I will try this place again but try the cod, I hope it's better.

We ordered the $40 takeout special, and are very disappointed with the food, Chips were over cooked and dried up, the batter on the fish was rubbery and left a weird taste in our mouth, couldn’t even use the salt they gave us as it obviously hadn’t been stored correctly. I’ve given 2 stars because food was hot and coleslaw wasn’t bad, and customer service was good, but we won’t be returning again, this was our second visit and both times we’ve had bad food.

Unfortunately I’ve visited this place during Covid times and had to get takeout, when I got home there were two problems first: I paid for gravy and they did not put it in the bag, I Immediately called the restaurant and told them that they charged me 2.29 or a gravy that I did not I receive, The lady told that next time I come in, she would give me a gravy and she took my name and cell num. so I was like “no problem” 2nd prob: I got home and the food was absolutely and disgustingly soggy... (food doesn’t do well wrapped in paper for long drives but I didn’t even complain about the food quality, only the gravy) After the restaurants opening back up, they had the restaurant was re- open for in-house seating, I decided to give them another chance.. I went there today and immediately told the server about the gravy AS I ordered it, but, when I got the bill I was charged for the gravy which should have been free, she goes and talks to another lady and the lady basically called me a liar saying that she had no notes to give anyone anything for free, and I ended up saying “no problem, I will pay for the gravy but you will pay with a bad review” so here it is LADY!! Next time I suggest you take the customers word over $2.29 !!! I mean if you’re that poor for money I guess you need it more than I do! The girl who serve me was actually really nice, but the old witch rude and condescending. She definitely should not be running a customer driven business, at ALL!! Also the fries were not fully cooked, the halibut was a very tiny portion, and meat & fries were both completely UN-SEASONED. I will never return to this place and I think most of the positive reviews are fake cuz both times I was in that place, not even ONE customer came through the doors... if your craving good seafood like fish+chips, stick with “Joes seafood restaurant” it’s 1000x’s better than this garbage, low quality, theiffing place! (Clareview location)

I am a long time customer to the Langley, bc and Surrey, bc locations but I moved to Alberta and so much miss going to C-Lovers until now. So happy they expanded to Alberta. Miss the fresh BC seafood. So I tried out the local new C-Lovers. as usual was a great visit nice new store much like the BC stores. Ok now about the food. Food was exactly like the BC stores so I am happy. All you can eat fish chips and bottomless pop. The Prawn add on was great and large prawns. So nice to have BC type fresh seafood in Alberta. I will be a regular for sure.

The food used to be really good before Covid hit. I was just in there and the fries have changed and same as the batter on the fish. Fries tasted exactly like McCains frozen as the colour and taste were not the same light golden, homemade taste as before. When I asked the young server if the fries have changed, she replied. Yes. The batter on the fish is also not as good as it used to be. Not as light. I don't know if reasons for the food quality changes are due to Covid, but either way, it gets a 1 star rating from me.

The only thing keeping this from a 5 star visit is when my wife and I both asked for 2 pieces of fish and a plate of fries for our second helping, they brought us 4 pieces on one plate. It didn't ruin anything and we didn't make a fuss because it wasn't the end of the world, but it's enough to not get a full pull.

This place is great. I always have the all you can eat fish and chips with bottomless soft drink for $15.99. I'm from the north of England and miss fish and chips from home, this is my favourite fish and chip shop in Canada. Shame I live in Manitoba and it's 2000 km away. Only problem is every time I come here they have to roll me out the door as I always eat too much, oh well

Went for dinner there tonight. Very dissappointed with the service I received from the waitress. I asked her to clear the dirty plates and she said No we do that after you leave. The fries were dark brown and tasteless, obviously saving money by using old oil. Coleslaw and halibut was very good. My zuccini sticks were dark brown also, obviously cooked in the same oil as the fries. Very disappointed. Quality has gone downhill since they first opened.
