Ordered they took our money then we sat and watched as the people that came in after us ate our appetizers. 15 minutes later We got their order of Cod. We had ordered Haddock. Won't be going back any time in the future. Used to be a good place to have lunch. Not any more.

Ordered fish and chips 2 cord slices. The lady taking your order could be more friendly I think. The fish and chips were more than one person eat could and finish but the meal was too oily. Thought I would have a heart attack after. Meal cost me about $20. Will I go back. Probably not. Then again I not British

I love their food! The fish is super fresh and the batter has good flavor. Don't try the blue off brand cream soda though, not very good haha. But deffintly try their fish because it's amazing :) portion sizes are big so you'll always leave full.

This is my favorite fish and chips place in Edmonton. The sole is really good and I haven't found anywhere in Edmonton that does it as well as they do here. It's a pretty homey atmosphere and the servers are pretty nice. Although if I remember correctly the hours they have on google might not be correct, not sure if they've fixed this yet.

I had the two piece meal with haddock for around $20. Really good fish and average chips. Very generous portions. You will not leave hungry. The seafood chowder was also pretty good. I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Used to be good. Expensive servings of grease for take out. You place your order by phone for take out, but then when you get there you still have to wait after you pay for them to get the order ready, so I'm not sure what's the point of ordering ahead. Also, if I'm picking up why do I have to pay tip?

Not sure if it was an off day but, both the fish, chips and, onion rings were so saturated with grease that we couldn't actually taste the food and, made me ill. $120 order. Won't return. Front end staff was super pleasant though.

Oh, I had a bad experience. The lady was vary impatient and rude to me. The fish batter was soggy just like the fries. Also, the booster seat was dirty and stinky. I had to wash my hands after handling it, because I could still smell it on my hands. I did not tell them about it, because I didn't want to talk to her again. I've eaten at the other location a few timed, and it was fine.

I ordered this and they sent it without tarter sauce. Of course it was ordered off skip the dishes and they cant check but seriously there is no option to come with tarter sauce. in my opinion it was basically uneatable and i am not impressed. Paying for food i couldn't eat didn't make me happy

The food is delicious - had the cod and fries with some gravy. The cod was soft and flaky - the batter was light and fluffy. I should add that I normally do not eat fish. Not a big fan, but this was amazing. The fries are delicious, as was the gravy. The staff were super friendly! The restaurant was very clean. Definitely coming back!

A quaint, quality fish and chips restaurant, with a focus on British stylings as the name suggests. You can get beer from the UK, mushy peas, British style curry, deep-fried Mars bars and other 'British' accents to your meal. They offer a good selection of fish and some options such as chicken fingers for those less pescavorian among us.

I was there today, and I have been going there when in Edmonton for 15 years. The people who own it/cook in this establishment now, need to learn to cook fish and chips, or rename it and cook something they know HOW to cook. As a Brit myself, these people botch the whole experience of bringing in a little peice of home. We most definitely will not be back!! If I could give it less than one star, I would!!!

What seems like an overpriced fish and chips at first. Turns out to be one of the best bang for buck places to eat around! Ordered a 3 pc. Fish (cod) and chips, shared. The fish was huge and sooo delicious!! crispy and yet sooo tender. A ton of flavor! My only complaint is the tartar sauce should be made in house but they used prepackaged instead. maybe they serve their own in house but think if they do it should be sold for takeout aswell in containers.

A nice place to come for authentic, yummy, fish and chips. Friendly fast service, and lots of seating room for plenty of people. The decor is also pretty sweet with the awesome wall paintings. Parking lot is a little small, but easily accessible. I highly recommend and will probably be coming back again!

Moderately terrifying on a cleanliness scale as they had an open pot of soup on the counter that was visited by flies and the whole place felt run down. However, the food was fantastic and more than made up for the shaky first impression. I would come back.

Really disappointed with this place.. For a start the service is terrible, the lady could be a little more friendlier. Had ordered 3 portions of fish and chips and sausages. Some of which was gluten free.. Well it was never ready when it was supposed to be so had to wait 10 mins extra. Once it was ready the sausages which were supposed to be gluten free, where not ..... I didn't want to wait any longer so left... Then on the way back realized they didn't include the mushy peas... So had to drive back... The lady pretty much ignored me until I had to shout across to her... The fish was okay, the chips however seemed like they where old and been cooked multiple times.. The sausages tasted gross and seemed like they had a lot of filler and not much pork or meat.. It was basically cold by the time I had got back home... Won't be going here again... the Atlantic kitchen in Fort sask was hands down way way better and nicer service

Tasty little shop for your fish and chips needs! Got a turbot meal deal for around 14 bucks needs nothing more. Fish was crispy, fries were cooked with new oil so they were crispy but clean, and mushy peas were a good breather. Lady was very nice, decently clean, and followed social distancing rules. Would come back again!

Had the gluten free fish and chips.... chips were great but the fish was very bland. The coleslaw that came with it was also really bland and quite dry. The gluten free deep fried pickles were bland as well and poorly battered. Husband had the regular fish and chips and also said his was bland, (until he tried mine then he agreed the gluten free was worse). It's too bad they don't spice their batter, as the fish was fried nicely. Husband enjoyed their selection of beer, and they did offer a gluten free beer as well. Atmosphere is pretty dated, and service at the register was just ok but, the one star was for the food - we won't be back based on what we experienced.

The food is exactly what fish n chips is all about. Large portions and reasonable prices. The batter is light and airy so it doesn't have that heavy feeling after eating it. You order at the counter before seating yourself and you need to get your own fountain drinks. They will then bring your food out to you when it's ready. (Having said that, it's also quick service.) This location is old so don't expect an up to date decor or anything fancy. The food is the reason you're coming here.

I seen a sign on the side of the road that said "Brit's Fish and chips now serve gluten free food" so i was super excited about this I decided to look up their menu. Not only do they have a lot of gluten free fish and chip choices but they also have a lot of appetizers that can be gluten free as well! I ordered fish and chips to pick up for lunch and take back to work and as I was opening up the back I couldn't believe how big the portion size was for only $13. I had the one piece haddock meal with fries and I couldn't even finish it all it was that large. They use a dedicated fryer for the gluten free menu choices as well which is very nice to know! The lady I called in to place my order was very nice and helpful on the phone and I believe it was the same girl who helped me when I got there. I can't wait to go back and try the battered mushrooms and calamari! Would highly recommend this place to anyone. The location I went to was the downtown one!

Used to be really good. Quality has gone downhill over last year or so. Chips now look burnt all the time. Think they using cheaper potatoes that are not meant for frying. Pricing is not accurate. Multiple signs up on wall with different prices for the same item. I think they my have changed owners. And the new owners don't fully understand how to run a British fish and chip shop

Great fish and chips, turbot is my favourite. Reason for a 3 star ⭐️ rating is, I have been coming to this place for the last 3 years and beer is always warm. Every time I ask thy say is cold, get one and warm. Fridge DOES NOT WORK, I have suggested several times and nothing. Why? Fish and chips is better with beer. Spend the money and get a proper fridge please.

Brits has the best chips in the city hands down. I have sometimes been hesitant because for awhile after the original owner moved to the Maritimes it was hit and miss on what quality the fish would be. Sometimes it would be great and other times it would be really greasy. I will say that the last few times the fish gas been superb so I suspect the kinks are worked out. I am pleased to recommend Brits

My wife and I are fond of fish and chips now and then. Brits fish and chips is the best of the lot in Edmonton. They have a good selection of fish, appetizers and beer on tap. The low point is the inconsistency of the chips. That being said you get a generous size off fish. If fish and chips are your thing Brits is a good place to give it a go.

I ordered pickup from here recently after friends have recommended this place. In terms of food, I got their 2 piece Haddock meal. Every bit of the haddock was enjoyable: large pieces of nicely cooked haddock, fantastic batter, good ratio of fish to batter. As for the rest, the gravy on the side also added an extra/different flavour to things and the fries were decent.

As with anything eating it fresh is ideal but in these times take out the only alternative, the food stands up fairly well. The chips get a little tired after after about 30 minutes. I love the tater sauce and garlic sauce.

Came in on a Saturday with my wife. We both got the cod and chips. The fish was really well done. She had the coleslaw and it was quite good, I got the bread and butter side and it was subpar. Portion sizes were great! You won't be leaving here on an empty stomach! I'd highly recommend checking it out!

Good place for fish and chips. Way better than Grandin fish and chips close to High Level bridge. However, I wish the chips are not the French fries but traditional chips. Also the mushy peas needs to be cook a bit longer as the peas is a bit chewy.

The wife and I spent $44 and got the three-piece cod and chips with one side gravy and the large clam chowder. The soup was warm. The fish and chips were hot and crispy. The gravy, don't go there! It didn't live up to our expectations having been to the British Isles back in April.

Can't really go wrong here for good, fresh, greasy fish! I love it! It is very greasy, but it's enlish style fish and chips, so that is expected. Only place in Edmonton I've found that is old fashioned English, Sherlock Holmes is a close second, but isn't as good as it used to be.

We loved the Sole and chips. If you enjoy a more oily dinner then this place is for you. The Cole slaw as a side was great and their tarter sauce is plentiful but not what I think as traditional. However no one will be disappointed as it will be a filling meal.and for me that was the point.

Just had lunch at Brits Fish & Chips off Argyll with my hubby. This was our first time here, although we always had good intentions of coming here before, sadly it never happened until today. We are glad we did! I am not much of a fish person for 2 reasons. First and most important is how the majority of fish is caught. The nets kill far more than just the edible fish fishermen want. Secondly, and this will sound weird, but I don't like fish that has a strong fish taste. I had the 1 piece haddock with fries. I think this was $11.50 + GST. It was fantastic! Price was fair for the portion size. The batter was so light and crispy, it wasn't like a pound of batter on the piece of fish like other restaurants. It was really delicious, both of us really enjoyed our meal! The service was friendly too. So why only 4☆'s you ask? Here is why! It is 2020 now & people are starting to care more about the environment, recycling, plastics in the ocean etc. So I found it odd for a fish and chip place to not have any "Oceanwise" options on the menu. What is Ocean wise? Here is what this means: Ocean Wise is a Vancouver Aquarium conservation program created to educate and empower consumers about the issues surrounding sustainable seafood. Ocean Wise works directly with restaurants, markets, food services and suppliers ensuring that they have the most current scientific information regarding seafood and helping them make ocean-friendly buying decisions. The options are highlighted on their menus and display cases with the Ocean Wise symbol, making it easier for consumers to make environmentally friendly seafood choices. The Ocean Wise logo next to a menu or seafood item is an assurance that the item is a good choice for keeping ocean life healthy and abundant for generations to come.

I liked the downtown location but the staff ruined my entire experience by insulting there co-workers work habits in front of customers to their face. Very unprofessional I think that with a absolutely ghetto attitude like that there's a good reason people flock to the other locations first. That being said the daytime staff very classy. Not so much the night staff.

Personally one of my favourite fish and chip spots in the city. Excellent selection of fish with different portion sizes to fit all appetites. I'm personally not adventurous to try some of the more traditional British fare but if the fish is any indication I'm sure it is great.

The staff are always very personable and patient, and the food is fantastic!! The restaurant itself looks a wee bit run down but i feel like most places that run primarily on deep fried foods have a similar look to them. The pieces of fish are quite large, so you definitely get what you pay for. I highly recommend their deep fried pickles, and for those with a sweet tooth-- deep fried mar bars.

The menu has haddock and halibut. I had haddock, which was good. I did not eat in. I remember one of us asking about something on the menu and one of the workers answered with a tone of exasperation. The worker turned to see it was still advertised, they corrected themselves, but did not apologise. At least, the fish has a good taste.

I'm giving four stars for food only. Their fish and chips are delicious, along with the wide variety of UK type fare they serve there. Everything up to and including mushy peas....and the best chowder you'll ever have! BUT.....staff are for the most part rude and short with customers, I'm thinking they have a sense that they can do what they want because the food is so good....I'll say, I'd eat there more if they weren't so rude....

You will never find better. I live 2hrs away and every chance I get I make the drive cuz it is so worth! If you want real fish n chips not pre-frozen heated cardboard go here. When ordering the pieces are very large! It will be as big as your hand but usually bigger! Even the young ones loved it!

The food I ordered, steak and kidney pie tasted ok but the crust was very tough and indexed a knife to cut the crust. The insides tasted good. My wife ordered haddock and fries. The batter was thin and the fish was very good. They have good draft beer on tap. My selection was a pint of New Castle Brown. They also serve deep fried Mars bar. The last time I ordered the Mars bar it was very good

Delish fish and chips! Boyfriend got the haddock and I got the Talbot. The portions were large and fresh and hot. The gravy he got was really good. I loved the Talbot, it was super moist and buttery, and the pieces were huge, much bigger than the haddock. I couldve gotten one piece and it would've been enough, I'm surprised it's not one of the more popular fishes. I got the coleslaw, which was also very good. Definitely recommend.

batter was golden brown and crispy with a soft juicy fish in the middle just the way it should be. The fries were also good. If you get a side, try the mushy peas they're flavorful and go really well with the fish

Service was good and friendly the server did a great job by looking after the whole floor by herself, really an amazing job. Of the variety on offer I had the halibut,I think fried was the only option but even so the flavour was all there; soft, juicy and perfectly cooked. Judging by the patrons I think this is a poplar local place to eat. The location is slightly away from the local petrol station and is definitely worth the extra minute. You won't regret it.
