I am soo disappointed in what I had to deal with yesterday. I choose to use the outside personal tellers FOR PRIVACY. Yesterday upon my visit to the Factory Street location I drive up to the personal tellers and see two bank workers standing in the teller area (which is very unusual) passing out bottles of water speaking with guests...this is a kind gesture however DO NOT STAND NEXT TO MY TELLER BEING NOISY AS I AM SPEAKING TO A PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVE LISTENING TO MY ACCOUNT INFORMATION. This bank employee literally stopped mingling with other guests as they pulled up to the other 2 tellers to listen into my 20 minute conversation about my bank account!!! I’m still in disbelief that actually happened! Why were they even out there passing out water when it wasn’t even hot? It was about to rain they should’ve been inside and I can imagine it was probably only one person working inside (which is typical for this location) usually you have to wait in a long line while only one person is working inside.

very bad customer service to long term loyal members. My mother did business with them for over 10 years and she made a miscalculation and over drafted 44 cents once she realized she was offering to take a cab over to put the 44 cents in so she wouldn't get charged 33 dollars, The bank service rep told her to wait until she called her back before she took a cab there. No other options were offered to my mother so she waited for the call. Then when the lady did call her back she said my mother was getting charged 33 dollars for not coming in to put in that 44 cents. when she told her not to. Speaking to the manager did nothing to help as the manager just made up excuses to not give her the 33 dollars back. This bank does not care for their customers only anout the money they can take from them.

May take my funds elsewhere. Not a fan of the teleconference teller. Feels so non-personal. It's sad that these days tellers have been reduced to the status fast food workers. Where is the personalized service? Consider getting some on site staff or I'm taking my business somewhere else.

I recently had a discrepancy with with my car loan payment at this credit union. I had one last payment on my loan which was set up for an automatic draft from my USAA account. They pulled the normal monthly payment when it was supposed to be roughly half of that for the final payment. I incurred a fee with my USAA account because I didn't have have that amount, but wouldn't have had the final payment been pulled for the correct amount. With that being said, I called northern federal credit union to figure out how to fix the issue. The person that picked up was Ryan Ward. Ryan talked me through the process of how things happened the way they did and connected with me by reasoning that he would also be upset had that happened to him. He got all paperwork expedited over to me and even got a letter I requested to provide USAA showing that their was a mistake so I could get my money refunded back to me for the fee that I had incurred. I am very happy with my interaction with Ryan. I've had little hiccups here and there with Northern Federal Credit Union, but it's employees like Ryan that have made my experience with NFCU better. Thanks again Ryan.

Wish i could give less of a star This bank tried to rip me off once when i had an acct with them. I was being wrongly charged a monthly 5 dollar fee when i shouldn't have been. took me forever to get my money back when it was an error on the banks part. When i did get my money back after a lot of persistence i closed my acct. I had to threaten to close my acct to get the money they wrongly took from me back. Never doing business with this bank again.

I worked for Northern Credit Union for a little over a year in the call center. I would also frequently go around to different branches and work remotely and assist with teller work. To start, working there was absolutely phenomenal! They set the foundation for my banking career and I can never repay them for that. After a year, I moved out to Buffalo with my fiancé. He came into some financial troubles and was starting to get charged by a corporate bank. Obviously it was not right that he is getting charged for depositing money into an account. I decided that enough was enough. I talked to him about Northern and told him that since I am still a member he qualifies. We both now have our accounts with Northern Credit Union and I could not be happier. It's been such a pleasure to watch them grow and change the way banking is done. Living in Buffalo, there are no branches out here. I love that I get my ATM fees refunded, but at the same time, with the co-op branches, I am able to visit almost any Credit Union down here and get access to my accounts at Northern. Even though my branch that I go to does not say Northern Credit Union, it still certainly has the same feel as being back home. I would highly recommend Northern Credit Union to anyone!

Staff is very helpful and polite but limited. Everytime I come to the bank I have at least a 20 minute wait in line. Only one teller and a greeter trying to assist other member to get them setup with teleconference. I would definitely consider giving a better review if they could have more employees available and reduce the wait time.

Easily the worst experience I’ve ever had. After using them for our mortgage the problems started. They sold our mortgage to a different company they messed up the paperwork needed to give to the new company so that set us back a month so when it came time to make our first payment we have no guidance on who to make it to because they sold our mortgage to a company then messed the paperwork up so we had to pay them for the first month mortgage payment fast forward to the next month still no welcome packet or anything from the new company to pay our mortgage northern says they have it to call them so I called the company that bought our mortgage and they don’t have it yet so the game of back and fourth started so we deposit the monthly mortgage payment in the northern account as directed to from northern so they can make the payment for us (we did this on March 5) I get on April 3 and the payment hasn’t been made so I’m almost a month late on the March payment that I deposited on March 5 that northern said they would make for us. So I call the company that bought our mortgage to explain to them that the march payment is coming from northern they said they havent received it yet on April 9 so I call northern to see what’s going on only for them to tell me that they sent the check for the March payment that I deposited on March 5 out on April 1 so the new company might not have got it yet. It’s an absolute disgrace I will never go threw Northern Credit union for anything ever again and I will never advise anyone to go use any of the bank’s services save yourself the headache and use a different bank

Would give less stars in possible. Very misleading staff so be careful when applying for loans. If you need help with your banking you might as well ask my dog before going to northern federal.

I have a personal loan thru this bank, and I cannot wait to have it paid off. I am not a fan of the "virtual teller" system. Not to mention I cannot even use the system because I do not have a card, nor do I want one. When I go into a branch to make a loan payment to the one teller that is staffed, I again am asked for my card.....that I do not have or want. I should not have to flash a piece of plastic to make a payment on my account. If Northern was staffed and functioned more like a traditional bank I could give it a better rating.

Applied for a loan online and Dan Esther immediately called me to get all the details to preapproved me for a car loan. Vehicle was for my son (his car broke down unexpectedly) and I was traveling out of state. Dan work with me to get the right vehicle that was going to work with the auto loan. Dan went above and beyond - my son didn't have a car and I was out of state so Dan contacted the dealer and the dealer picked up the check so we can get the car. Dan was friendly and very responsive through the whole process!! PS. I have to agree with other review regarding the virtual teller/virtual assistant, I do have an account with Northern but my direct deposit is with another institution, making the loan payments with another bank account is not as easy.
