Worst place to work. I was notified the day before my shift that I was no longer employed by them. If I hadn’t called my manager the night before I wouldn’t have known. Very poorly run branch. When I was there, I felt like my voice wasn’t heard. i hope this gets fixed because if someone has an opinion about something. No one will hear them out.

Horrible bank. Called 5 times told them the person they were transfering me to was not in the office for 2 weeks when shes the customer service rep. They forgot to unlock my bank account after i brought them my id and signed papers couldnt get it unlocked over the phone had to go in and do it all over again.

Very disappointing experience with this branch. The manager or the customer experience personale never pick up the phone , once i visited the branch today i requested to speak with the manager who was no help at all with my matter . She was extremely rude and just asked me to find another bank or go to another branch. The branch manager only seems to be polite and helpful to Chinese customers. I was not taken seriously at all and they weren’t willing to even help.

I work and represent a well known corporation and I am in uniform. I recently had to do some business for this branch and asked them if I could use their washroom. They would not let me, a first for that! So I will not bank here or at BNS again and will never return. I guess they feared I would soil up their gold plated washroom.

i have had multiple appointments cancelled, the hours are horrible. almost impossible to get ahold of the person you have appointments with, i keep getting sent to the national call center. for a service i pay for, it sure seems like the cons outweigh the pros

Not happy with the service at all. I used to have my accounts at the main branch downtown on Sherbrooke near mctavish. Transferred them here because I live in the west island and thought it would be easier to do my dealings closer. Not the case. I took an appointment with the mortgage specialist on Friday and she then wrote to me to change it because she was taking the day off. Ok no prob. So I book it 9AM on the following Monday October 3. My wife and I get there and are notified that the mortgage lady is off this day. So we see someone else and give all our info and sign the credit application... So far no response. 5 working days have passed and still waiting... How long does it take to do a credit check and get back to us. Will be transferring all my business loans and personal accounts and my next mortgage to a business that actually wants my business! Not happy at all. And I have been with Scotia for over 30 years and this is how they handle a loyal customer...!

Dont be a day late for a payment or use there chubb insurance they offer. Because chubb is not paying payment on time. They locked my credit card with out warning me. They actually told me that everything was fine as long as chubb made payments . Well that was a lie. Called the 1800 no one could do anything for me. On Mon., Sept. 24, 2018, I was in line, waiting to cash a cheque from the US ( in US funds). The branch was due to close in 30 mins., at 4 pm....and there were 5 people in line. Progress was slow. Only 2 employees were waiting on clientele. I got to the counter and was greeted by a bank employee who was super friendly and eager to help me. After waiting 20 mins. in line, her cordial manner was truly welcome. And beyond that...this employee, Shauna Wright, went out of her way to get my cheque deposited, and the funds being available, as quickly as possible...something she didn't have to do. She was exceptional to deal with... professional, friendly and very helpful. I would hope this branch would ensure that in the future they make certain they have more than 2 employees avail. at the end of a Monday (near the end of the month), so their employees aren't under so much pressure, with ppl. lining up for 20-25 mins. before being assisted. I am giving 5 stars for my experience with the employee, not the branch.

Deposited a small paycheck, and an even smaller certified check from an insurance company on a friday. Put a 90 dollar hold on them. Refused to release it until the following friday. Will close my account and just cash my checks at a grocery store from now on.

Two bank clerks in this branch told me that their bank would charge me fees if I don't use their credit card in 12 months and urged me to cancel the credit card, which was not true when I call the helpline on the back of the card. The staffs in this branch were not properly trained and they provided misinformation to their customers. On top of that, they were not trying to help neither. The backgroup radio in this branch was very loud, like in a resturant or a market rather than a banking business. I found the radio noisy was distractive to conversations and unprofessional. Overall, I had bad experience here. I would avoid this branch.

They only have 4-5 tellers now. After waiting approximately 15 minutes in line one of the tellers named Rita had the nerve to argue with me and tell me that she's not printing out my statements until there's no one in line then told me to go buy a $40 printer!!! I was completely offended and left crying. Such an awful experience and absolutely terrible customer service!

so you sell your house and the lawyer gives you a check for $77,000 which you deposit. Well the bank put a 5 business-day hold on the cheque. I wanted to pay my $25,000 line of credit at that same bank but I can't because my money is on hold. And I owe $3500 to Visa card which I can't - I called up Manager and he says sorry those are the rules. Some rules alright - trying to make more money by putting hold on the lawyer trust cheque. This is terrible recognition of customers. Too bad all accounts will be closed very soon.

Had this bank for a few years now, went in to cash a cheque today and was given such horrible service. They refused to cash it without holding it for a week, as they stated they are unsure of the company. I asked to be given more information. They seemed annoyed, and frustrated with me ( as this is their job right? To help their clients) embarrassed me in front of the line up. He was rude & embarrassing. I asked if this will happen every week when I come in , he replied with " yes it most likely will" . He seemed to be management, was not supportive to the girl trying to help me.I left with issue unresolved, worse customer service I've ever received. Especially from my own bank! Needless to say, I will be closing this account, and go where you feel appreciated, not just when you open your account. Horribly slow and inefficient service. I don’t understand why it takes 15 min to schedule an appointment for opening a account. Avoid this branch if possible, if not, take a book or tablet and chair with you because you will definitely need it.

Terrible customer service. I was looking for mortgage. I sat down one of the broker few weeks ago. He preapproved me mortgage. Since,then I talked to my cousin and she decided to partner with me so we can apply for mortgage together. This is the email I send him today. My cousin wants to partner with me to purchase a house. It will be her second house. She has pre approval from Royal bank. We are looking for $600k house maximum together. Since , Iam first time buyer I can do 5% downpayment. How much downpayment will she has to pay?Does she have to take mortgage from Scotiabank since we will partner 50-50? His respond is You can do the mortgage at any bank. The mortgage over 500k you would need to pay more than 5% I

Michael Zack (Branch Manager), confirmed that if you close an account with Scotiabank, they can close the account with a balance still owing on the account. This can then in turn negatively impact your credit score to which Michael will not be willing to assist any reversal and just blame you for not checking your last statement even though the teller cuts up your cards in front of you.

Gets an extra star because it’s the only one open on the weekend out of all the Scotiabanks in my area but I called in a week ago asked for an appointment to have a new account made and was told that I didn’t need to have an appointment just walk in . Planned my Saturday morning out to come in just to be told that I needed to make an appointment when I came in . Thats was my original reason for calling ahead of time . Now my time is wasted and they look bad at a customer service point of view . I’ve been with Scotiabank all my life and I put up with the terrible hours but if service begins to fall aswell then why stay at scotiabank . Frustrated.

I had the pleasure of dealing with the assistant manager at this location who is very polite and friendly. However, the lack of response is appalling and takes days of you (customer) chasing for a response. You won't get an email or call back despite sending multiple follow ups and days in between. Go somewhere else if you want a request handled in a reasonable amount of time. It's your money. Don't make it your loss of time too.

Just had the worst customer service experience, three tellers working still took over 25 minutes to get to the counter. They really need to get up-to-date with technology way to slow , They need to hire some young people who are more text savvy. It took the teller about 30 seconds to type my name she was typing one finger at a time on the keyboard. Took a total of 45 minutes. Out of all the Scotia Bank this was my worst experience I’ve had with them I would definitely not recommend this one, the one across the highway at the shopping mall is much better.

My westpac account has global alliance with ScotiaBank. They charged me withdrawal fee and when I ask the staff at this branch, they were dismissive like I was ignorant. I paid the fees and currently following up with my own bank. They are not very helpful even in person.

Never have I had more hassle trying to do anything with a bank than dealing with Scotiabank. There's always something when trying their online banking. Hard to talk to anyone from the branch. I deal with TD, CIBC, ROYAL BANK and several credit card services. It seems the only one that causes me grief is Scotiabank. Come on step up your game????

Awful experience, my husband tried to take out a USD Money Draft from his longtime account with Scotia and was accused of drug trafficking. It was only for $110 to pay an application fee and was to be addressed to a USA State Department, in what world could that be for anything other than a government processing fee? The two people 'helping' him were deranged. They demanded a mailing address (not needed, I have since gone to TD to open an account there and no need for a mailing address to make a USD Draft) and refused to help him. We're either going to Alexandria for future in-person help or just completely shutting the accounts and moving them elsewhere with better customer service. This isn't our first I please dealing at this branch, I'm surprised they haven't been reprimanded and replaced by higher Scotiabank management. They're reflecting very poorly on the establishment as a whole.

My friend and I went in with the intentions of cashing government tax checks as my friends bank is out town and according to the Canadian govenrment website as long as we have ID (which we did in the form of a health card, SIN card, and birth certificate) we can cash the checks as long as it is under $1500. We were flat out denied as soon as we mentioned we had the health card and the person stainding at the teller started to lecture us so we walked out. I find that disgusting that we were treated in that manor and we will never go into any Scoitabank locations ever again. What they did was technically wrong according to the government website.

I finally closed all my accounts last month with a counter clerk and the job is still not done properly. I just received a credit card statement because they improperly closed the account ... Aggressive financial manager. Beware if you are choosing to meet with her. She does not want to work WITH you, rather she wants to get you to buy the mutual funds. And insisted on putting a huge amount of money in, while knowing that account holder was not a risk taker. Never felt this uncomfortable before, and I've dealt with lots of desperate bank people. I know banks have gotten ruthless, but this has got to be the most horrible. She wouldn't take no for an answer. Some people have no heart left, they just want the commission. *This review is for meeting with an FM, not about the front desk people. By the looks of the reviews, why isn't SB doing anything about this branch?????

The guy who opened up my Investment account messed up wanted me to go home and do it by myself. not interested at all talking about cricket and all non serious guy its been over two weeks my account is not yet activated.. Incredibly inefficient and unorganized staff. They've lost documents, aren't aware of the accounts I have with them, can't answer questions pertaining to transactions they are in charge of (estate accounts, mortgage payments, refunds from their own insurance policies). They have effectively ruined my step mother's credit score because they couldn't process payments for the mortgage even though they were on time. (Even after talking to their central office...). A truly terrible experience dealing with them for my father's estate, made the process even more discouraging then it already is.

Disappointing service. When I tried to close my account they didn't have enough cash on hand to pay it out - it wasn't a big amount. They offered a draft but refused to waive the fee for the draft. I felt treated like a criminal with more questions and ID required than imaginable.

I have been a long time customer of Scotia. I have been with this particular Branch for 18yrs. Our longtime financial officer Calla Pruegger has always looked after my wife and I very well. After Calla retired we were under some pressure from friends to move our business to the same bank as them including a new mortgage we were ready for with the purchase of a new home. We initially met with a young Lady(financial officer) by the name of Allison M. Well let me tell you that after our initial visit with Allison, we had definitely decided to stay with Scotia. We did in fact arrange our new mortgage with her/ you. She was very polite and very helpful. I really appreciate the honesty and care she provided us. Allison always makes it a point to greet us when we are in the branch. Very nice feeling! I would not ever hesitate to tell any one of my friends about her service and care for her customers. Cheers! Quite honestly the most imcompetent bank location I've ever been to. Constantly miss appointments. I've been left waiting in the lobby for 45 mins before they realised that they'd forgotten about me. When I signed up for an account they hard pulled my credit three times and it took months to fix. Truly the worst bank I've ever been to.

This bank has probably the worst customer service I have seen in long time. Sat down to renew my mortgage and thought everything was getting processed to get a call two weeks later asking to meet about my mortgage with another person. Nothing was done. I ask to speak to the manager to let he know I think this is unacceptable service. She is very apologetic and says she will look into the matter as the client is a the center of everything they do. A month later I have not heard anything. I send an email... nothing. Avoid this bank at all costs... they don't deserve your business.

Fix your phone service, I can’t even call a branch directly without having to wait on a national call center line sometimes over 30 minutes, I also tried to call Scotia rewards in another instance and could never get through because everything is routed through 1 number. Worst phone service ever!! At least set up a wait time system on the rewards line and a call back so people don’t need to wait on the phone for hours to talk to someone.

Went to scotia bank this morning with my husband and the spanish teller looks grouchy while she’s talking to my husband,,, she’s not a friendly person to costumer,,, i think my husband experience harassment to this bank because that lady is so rude to talk,,, so what will do this morning is leave and go to the other bank to deposit our cheques because we’re not satisfied anymore at scotia bank. I recommend royal bank and bmo they are friendly there is no problem to deposit our cheques.

The other one star reviews aren't exaggerating, this really is a terrible branch. There's no other way to put this but if you expect to go in here and receive any kind of actual customer service, you will be sorely dissapointed. The tellers could care less about you or your business - for a major bank, this is pretty surprising. But maybe Scotia has a plan, at least for this branch. Deliver such an atrocious experience that customers will just switch to pure online banking and therefore they can close more branches down - its the kind of corporate strategy Dr. Evil would be proud of. If, per chance, you find yourself in the unfortunate position of going into this branch, don't ask for the manager. The staff are under instruction not to bother her for something as trivial as customers. The only saving grace for Scotia is that this branch appears to be isolated. The downtown Waterloo and Brantford branches are staffed by competent and friendly people.

The Staff here has always been helpful and we have had great service with both our business and personal accounts over many years. Customer service is a challenging industry and before you leave negative reviews using someones name just know that they could have been having a bad day or something could have happened. I am sure everyone is trying their best and although they did not meet some customers expectations please remember they're human and they don't need to be attacked online.

Horrible Service! Tried to open bank accounts for my two children at this branch today. Staff were uninformed and badly-trained and after two hours of trying finally confirmed they are unable to offer passbooks on kids accounts despite the fact that their website clearly states they can, and their call centre rep also confirmed this when I called in before visiting the branch to be sure they could accommodate this request. Kids were disappointed and I was quite annoyed with the way they wasted our time. Useless manager made no effort to make up for our inconvenience. Save yourself the aggravation and take your banking elsewhere!

The hours are very inconvenient, during the peak of covid the hours were even worse and forced people to line up, close together. The parking, very difficult especially driving a big vehicle. Putting up that fence, absolutely the wrong idea. I wont suggest this bank to anyone who works weekdays as you would have to take time off of work to come to the bank. You can't do a lot of services through an atm, you need a teller or someone to ask questions.

Tellers are ok, they do mistake, like transfer bigger amounts from credit card to checking account and then they try to put it on you. It was fixable. But ones when you have to go into appointment with anyone in office you are stepping into twilight zone. I am not kidding. And it is sad because people at that point need more information, help and understanding. I had a Ricardo that drag me for 3 months without any possitive outcome on a mortgage application. I understand negative response, I don't understand waisted time. Training and lots of other things in despaired need.

Can I record no stars? I went into this bank last Wednesday to report suspicious activity on my bank account. $6000 was taken off of my credit card and put into my checking account. Then put back. Technically no money was missing, but I was still charged a $3.50 fee, which isn't a big deal, but again, I did not complete this transaction. The tellers response; maybe you did it by mistake? Does anyone have access to your account? NO. I wouldn't be here if I could figure it out on my own. I went in for help and her advice was to call online banking. What did they say? They told me to come into the bank. The following day my card declined. I call, they don't have access to my account because my card was canceled. If I don't have access to my account and the customer service doesn't have access to my account, transfer me to someone who can help. More waiting, more automotive telephone menus, zero help. It turns out my card was canceled because my account was now -$2400, my savings account now had $.66 and my credit card is maxed in cash advances at $6500, when my credit card balance on the Wednesday was 0$. All together my accounts were compromised of $14,000, which most of that money I do not even have. Had that teller done her job properly and listened to me when I quesdtioned the suspicious transactions apposed to questioning me, this would have never happened.

This is the worst customer service I have ever recieved at any banking facility I have ever been a member of throughout the world. The staff are incompetent and condescending. The bank pays their employees poorly but that's not an excuse to treat your customers without respect Do not pay this faceless organozation to store your own money. I have never met a bank with such incompetent employees. I went to get a personal loan 4 months ago and I had to be called back on three separate occasions in the week following, because the "banking specialist" forgot to either have me sign something or just forgot to give me ANY of the correct paper work. On the 4th trip there for another of their mistakes, the bank manager gave me a check for 25$ to make up for their incompetencies. I have had a credit card with them for a few years now and I received a call saying that I was pre-approved to have the credit limit increased. I had to go in to get it done. So I went it. The woman had no clue how to read the screens and figure out how to do a credit limit increase. She flicked through the same 3 screens about 20 times each trying to figure it out and then finally 25 minutes later, (without ever having typed anything) said it was done and that I would see the changes in 24 hours. 50+ hours later, no change. Emailed and called, no answer and no responses back. DON'T GO TO THIS BRANCH!!!

Came into this branch today to "verified" my ID after opening an account online. Front desk agent basically had to beg a advisor to take me. Of course they were too important and did not have time sitting at their desk doing nothing. After a few more mins of the front desk agent messaging the advisors inside the office via their computers. I told him to forget it and left. Treated very rudely by an office staff and manager when I went in 10 days after my husband died. Their only concern was the $3000.00 credit card debt. Just going to confirm what all the other 1 star reviews mention. - Only care when its too late. - They refuse to do the things you ask of them. - They do not provide the best solutions for your situation. - Some of the employees are disrespectful.. - Don't get comfortable with your financial planner as they will change them in 6 months and you give your account to the newest member of the team. Yesterday was the last straw. My wife and I are in the process of switching EVERYTHING over to BMO. Recently opened an account with scotiabank Bank and I truly hope my experience with this branch is not the kind of service I can expect or I made a very bad decision. I initiated a new cheqing account online and was emailed to visit this branch to complete the process. The teller was very clueless and had to confirm with other tellers on how to proceed with the confirmation of my new account. 30 minutes later I walked out thinking my new account was good to use, boy was I wrong. After multiple calls to customer service I was told this branch that I opened my account did not remove the hold. Now I have to go back to the branch and sign another form that should have been presented to me when I opened the account the first time. This branch has poor reviews for a reason.

The manager Tatiana couldn't even provide a decent explanation when faced with the fact that a white person got away with the same transaction I came in for without questions. Very frustrating when you go to deposit money into your Momentum Savings Account and the tellers are not trained and/or every other person has their own way of doing it. Sometimes it's deposited in less than two minutes but other times like today, it takes almost 15 minutes to figure it out. What's concerning is the lady today told me it has to be done this way so what about the previous deposits that were done quickly and efficiently. Did they get deposited incorrectly? Frustrating to say the least.
