Great course to play when your in the area

Beautiful 18 hole course with new ownership. Well kept greens and fairways make the course one of the best in the area (if you can hit them). Nice layout on Black River and good cart service. Nice setup for events or weddings too.

I liked it, a few people warned me it was going to be bad but it was well kept and very interesting to keep it in the fairways. Narrow but really fun. I enjoyed my time there.

Played at Black River Country club this morning. Was in 2 minds due to all the negative publicity in the recent past. Found it to be totally false like many other things on social media these days. The course is in good shape, the greens were excellent and carts were n=much better that some other places in the area. For the current price of $42 you can't beat this place. Wish it gets busy again so that the restaurant gets reopened!

The best place in Port Huron for any event. We had a surprise party and the staff was amazing. Kirbylynn was awesome. From the first meeting to the day of the event. She was supportive and extremely helpful, answering all my questions and making suggestions when needed. The day of the event the entire staff from the kitchen to wait staff to the caddy helped without even being asked. The food was outstanding and my guests are still letting me know what a wonderful venue this was. This was one of the most reasonable venues. If you're looking to hold an event Black River Country Club should be your first choice. You won't be sorry. Thank you Kirbylynn, Chloe and Conner for making our day special.

Just returned from my niece wedding reception and I can honestly say that this was the worst reception I have ever experienced. The food was horrible, salmon was hard and dry, the beef was inconsistent- some was fork tender and other was shoe leather. Sara, the event coordinator was very rude and disrespectful. 2 people at the next table received their food 40 minutes after everyone at the table had already finished theirs. The whole experience was complete chaos. Planning a special event, look elsewhere. On a positive note the bride was stunning.

I'm not really one to write a review, unless a place is really bad. However, I felt obliged to write this five-star review for the golf course. I play here about once every two years, and I must say I've never had a problem with the golf course. I am a stickler for good greens, and was impressed with the way these rolled. I'm a member at Torrey Pines in San Diego so I really hold a golf course to high standards. If you play here I don't think you'll be disappointed. Some of the holes are a bit longer, even from the white tees, and it is a good challenge for golfers of all skills.

Lovely course. In great shape. Only downside was some holes not marked very clearly. Hard to tell where to go when finished some holes. Great prices. Very nice staff.

The manager/coordinator was rude. The food that we had in the buffet was cold because they were not in chafing dishes. The pancakes were rubbery. How can you mess up on pancakes. The one star is too much

The golf course is a solid 4 stars but the restaurant is definitely not. The prices are way too high for what the food is. Mostly it's just your standard bar food. I can get the same burger at the local bowling alley for a third of the price. I left there one night after looking at the prices and went to the golf course on the other side of the river and had a Perch dinner for $9.95; I couldn't touch a burger for less than$18 dollars by the time I get the fries and fixings which are all extra.

After hitting the driving range headed over to the chipping/ sand trap area to put some work in. Played four holes did more chipping. A wonderful place to play.

Not much to like about the course. The huge old trees were beautiful. The greens were splotchy and hard. Good luck sticking a green even with pro v1s. Uneven tee boxes. Almost no cart paths. Dirty outdated pro shop. Spiders on door handle. Trouble locating the next hole a few times (following the busted signs often didn't help).rough was rough. Fairways were made of different grasses. Lots of clover too. Could be a nice course but needs huge reno job and cart paths.

Nice golf course, wooded, a bit of water. Ladies..not much of a break from forward trees. Very confusing layout, wasn't always sure where next tee boxes were, asked the maintenance workers for directions. Very friendly staff and reasonable rates. Will play another round at Black River CC next time we are in Port Huron.

I play there at least once a week and the course has been improving. I'm sure the team is working hard. But, on busy days you need a ranger. The traps lack sand and you're killing the beauty of the course by cutting down trees which don't effect play and add to is beauty. I don't know your long term plan but you need one which focusses on golf. You also need to think about a Canadian par day on Saturday/Sunday. They'll come, eat and drink which is where you make the real $$$. Time to think out of the box, maybe a senior membership at a reduced rate to drive weekday early morning activity. You have a layout that can be great and has a storied history. Don't destroy that by miopic thinking.

This venue is great! Beautiful view, plenty of room, lots of parking. We have been renting the reception hall every year and love it! They work with you to tailor your needs to your function. It is private, so there is not any problems with the general public.

Really great time at Black River Country Club! Even on a cold day in April. Pro Shop is stocked with top of the line apparel along with wedges and putters. Fairways are looking great and greens feel soft and fast. Had a great meal in the clubhouse also. Couldn't have asked for a better golf day! Highly recommend Black River.

Arrived at the course 15 minutes before our tee time to see a log jam of 5 carts at the first hole. Apparently, there was a family scramble with multiple groups which we later noticed included some 6somes (2 parents and 4 kids). When we asked if we could start on the back 9 we were bluntly told "no" and that was followed up with "we're 15-20 minutes behind. That's normal". Our round took over 5 hrs to play and there was no sign of a ranger trying to speed up play or let people through. We waited for the group ahead of us on every shot. Absolutely HORRIBLE course management. At the turn, while waiting at the window for our hot dogs the course pro or manager (not sure what his title was) told the gentleman who was getting our food to "shut the window". This person was completely ignorant from the minute we got there. The course itself was in decent shape. The greens were consistent. The fairways were a bit long. The course can be a bit of a shooting gallery as most of the holes are side by side with other holes that run tight together and parallel. The management and ignorance of the course pro/manager make this a course that I will never return to.

Not nearly as good as it was years ago. The greens are rough, the rough is long and inconsistent. It has a good layout and hopefully the new owners will bring back the old course and fix up the club house.

Were accused of holding up play. NOT US. WE HELD NO ONE UP. Asked to speak to manager. He did not come. There was a slow foresome in front of us who would not allow us to play through!! We were a 5 some and waited on EVERY SHOT!! FRONT NINE TOOK OVER 3 HOURS TO PLAY. NO RANGER TO SPEED UP PLAY. UNACCEPTABLE WILL NOT BE BACK!!

Made a reservation in the middle of the week to take my Dad out on Saturday as it was the first chance to be together after Father's Day. Arrive 30 minutes before tee time and the gentlemen at the desk informed me they didn't have the reservation and a tournament was about to start. This was more than just a waste of time and money arranging for a group to meet us here... Where am I supposed to go on a Saturday afternoon and find an open tee time to play with my Dad the day of? I was only in town for a few days and now I won't be able to take him out. Extremely disappointing would be an understatement.
