Setting amazing. Food ok. Portions the most diminutive I have experienced anywhere in the world. More suitable for someone on a strict 1000 calorie diet or lower. When considering I just returned from Montreal recently where I ate at an authentic French restaurant with foie gras and all to boot; Montreal was actually cheaper than Waupoos, more substantial and blew Waupoos out of the water taste wise. I didnt taste the wines as I dont drink . It might be worth it for that, i couldn't say, but the food wouldn't exactly be something attracting me in the future. Incidentally, phone network automatically switches to a USA network because of its proximity to the border. So watch your cell phone charges especially when using data. My 3 stars are for the location.

Best winery in PEC. It backs onto the lake and the landscape is breathtaking. The food here is also great, would highly recommend the charcuterie board

Shad L

Hidden gem. Great wines and a fantastic restaurant. Walk the property and enjoy a glass of a wine. Great view of the lake.

Tim Hawkins

Great place for a long and memorable lunch with friends. Service is excellent, locale is beautiful, and food is great

Claire Lam

We had a great experience in this cute winery. The atmosphere was gorgeous with a lovely view of the water and the well kept and wonderful land was nice to walk out on. Eclectic variety of wines for tasting. Ajecent to the main wine bar is a candy store. It was one of our top 3 wineries to try.

Kevin Flynn

Incredible atmosphere and scenic vistas. Very reasonable prices and great selection on wines, cider and food!

What’s not to love about Prince Edward County? It’s pleasant everywhere you go and Waupoos Winery is no different. It’s such a great location to enjoy some food and wine. I like their display of wines and drinks in the store area. Very colourful! Of course the cider is awesome too! ????☺️

Carl Cencig

Enjoyed the wine tastings but didn't buy a bottle. The service was quick and description of the wines was efficient but not personable. Very nice back area close to the water.

Dylan Soo

Was here about four years ago so great to see it still thriving. We unfortunately just missed that last tasting but they have excellent beverages anyways. There is a candy and chocolate shop right next door.

Jess M

Great selection of wines, you can select 4 wines to taste for $10.

Geoff Layton

We got married at Waupoos in September and everything was perfect. The food was delicious as expected from our tasting that we did months prior, the service was very friendly and efficient, the wedding coordinator was excellent and all our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was. I'm looking forward to enjoying more meals at the restaurant for anniversaries.

Toby Dodwell

Absolutely beautiful spot! A definite must visit.

Andrew Claremont (andymci)

Great food, wine and view from the patio. Highly recommend making dinner reservations in advance as they get busy quickly. If you can’t get a seat on the patio, you can still do takeout and bring your food + wine down to the waterfront.

Mara Cole

UPDATE: 8/11/2019. Another fun tasting today, and baby goats in the petting zoo! This is the prettiest property in the County. This place was a ton of fun. From the tasting, to our affogato and wine on the patio, to the stunning views of the lake, to the petting zoo. There is something for everyone here :)

Dennis Brown

Do not order the pork the chef thinks it can be served raw. First problem I have had. But I ruin my Ladies birthday.

Jackelyn D'Souza

Beautiful winery, enjoyed a great lunch by the water. The staff is so welcoming and pleasant -can’t wait to visit again.

Genevieve Seguin

The restaurant experience was to die for! Incredible every step of the way. The waiter was on point with wine recommendations and courtesy. Unfortunately, the wine tasting experience is mediocre. They sell about 20 different wines and will only let you try their 10 cheapest on their patio where you have to order from stressed and wine clueless bartenders. We returned a corked wine because it was indeed corked and one of the waiters said that no one ever returned a wine and another waiter looked at the wine and said there was no cork in it…. Helloooooo. Lol. Waupoos owners, start recruiting NOW

Gary Lyon

Good experience. We did two flights on the back patio. 70s music a little loud. Favourites: sparkling rose, cab sauvignon reserve. Decent price points. Cute candy shop and very friendly staff (thanks Dave). Recommended.

Erica Carvalho

The view and property might be beautiful but the customer service is atrocious. Online says they close at 6PM. We came at 5:34 and they said they’re done tastings. We weren’t greeted when we walked in and the 3 young ladies working were all standing behind the cash register area, nobody greeting customers and nobody smiling. I can almost guarantee you management or owners do not know what’s happening at their establishment as this is horrible customer service. Very disappointed.

Andrew Zhang

Restaurant had a great steak and a lot of food options. The view from the port of the winery was fantastic. Staff in winery were very nice and helpful. Would definitely come back!

Matthew Parker-Jones

Excellent prix fixe and great white wines. Lovely spot for a casual lunch that drifts into the mod afternoon. You feel like you're out of the country in all of the best ways.

Megan Blair

Beautiful winery, lovely wine, kind and welcoming staff! Definitely a county gem! Can't wait to visit again. ????????????

Ashley Hickey

Beautiful place for adults and children, petting zoo across the street, candy, gift shop & lots of wines and ciders. We love the place so much we are getting married on their property

Neil Packman

Stopped and tasted some wines. $10 to sample 4 wines. Some nice outxood seating. The restaurant lunch was a fixed menu $55. We opted to sit by the lake and ordered from their food truck, which was tasty.

Amra4a

Such beautiful Winery with views of the water. I really liked their Cabernet ????. I definitely recommend doing the tasting ???? i wish there was more seating in the shade ????

Yuwen Huang

Need to bring the tasting flight out to the patio so not the best way to get the info from the staff while tasting. If the winery can include options of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir would be great.

veesha maharaj

awesome birthday weekend! really organized and fantastic 3 course meal paired with cider. Service and attention to detail was on point

Jim Casler

Mediocre at best. I enjoy visiting wineries to view their vineyards. Here, they welcome that, yet their grounds are in disrepair. Service was slow, wine is average and upkeep of everything is lacking. Maybe finding good help is difficult. The pic of the washroom is an example.

One of the few wineries that had a restaurant, bottle shop, space for events and a wine tasting area. When I came here, the restaurant was closed for a private event (I was guessing that this was a wedding which also took up the space in …

Sundeep Balsara

This place has some of the best wines I have tried from this area. It also is very picturesque, recommend you stop by even if it's just for the view

Sheila Mcdonald

Beautiful spot and nice having the Cider House across the street. We had a wonderful tour and wine tasting. The chucuterery board for tasting was a nice touch but more of a nibble for tasting than chucerterie board would suggest. I would have loved to try the restaurant but we weren't quite at a meal time when we went so can't review the food but I did like the idea that they have onsite most of the food served in the restaurant and what they didn't grow or raise was purchased within 5 km radius. Very lovely and was worth the stop but also quite expensive. We were 2 for a tour/tasting and bought one bottle of wine and 2 of their small tasting glasses and it cost almost $110 before tip. The nice part of the tour was the tasting in the cellar, that was nice and our guide was great; however, likely would recommend doing your own walkabout and pay for just the tasting. We didn't feel our experience was worth that kind of money. Still a very lovely place and great service, just expensive.

Spicy Jan

Beautiful Estate Property, and grounds. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of flow for where to go, what to do .... there was a line up, yet no one was explaining the line, or lack of need to wait if you wanted a drink only and to enjoy the view.

Fine dark Chocolate

Stunning views, great wine and overall great experience.

Eric Gregory

Beautiful location with good wine and a great gift shop. Landscaping really adds to the atmosphere.

Aylén Garcia Rajczewski

Such a fun, good time! You really can't get bored of this place. Many different outlets to visit within this winery, so you can spend the whole day here. The staff greets you everywhere you go. It feels like a resort! The 4 course pre-fix lunch served at the restaurant is a must.

Nick Wilson

We had a great time at this winery, great setting, generous portions and the staff were extremely patient and accommodating. Would return many times.

Waupoos Estates and Winery is such a beautiful place to visit and host a wedding. The ceremony venue on the water is a favourite of ours as wedding photographers. We cannot wait to work with the whole team at Waupoos again on more weddings in 2020!

We were the second table to arrive at Waupoos Estates today for lunch and by the time we left, it was beginning to fill up. We loved everything about this place! Chef Scott and GM, Damian were lovely and amazing hosts. The price fix lunch menu was well worth every dollar. That homemade sourdough pita bread and the very special butter was a lovely starter. Loved the fired roasted Swiss chard salad with lemon gribiche, Fifth Town Parmesan and perch roe. To die for!!! This perch was so very very fresh and was caught within a km from where Chef Scott’s team cooked it! I don’t like lake fish but as of TODAY...I love perch! Chef Scott gave me some tips on how to “liven up" the flavour and firm up the texture of a fresh piece of lake fish. The seasonal estate grown squash, goat cheese and pickled red onion soup was so tasty. Not a drop left in all three beautiful shallow pottery bowls. Their rendition of apple pie but made with puff pastry, roasted apples, crême fraiche and my favourite part, freshly picked lavender buds and tiny chiffonade of sage! The flower and herb were HUGE game changers for me. Dessert went so well with Damian’s perfect Americano. Lovely and delicious pairing: GEWÜRZTRAMINER SKIN CONTACT 2020 Amazing aromas of lychee dominate the profile. Notes of grapefruit rind, rose water, honied cantaloupe and hints of spice complete the profile. The aromas carry to the palate – refined and not overwhelming with a zesty finish. We enjoyed every single course. If you’ve been to Waupoos, you know how that dining room echos. Well, my moans from all of the deliciousness consumed could be heard throughout I’m sure! I can’t pick a favourite course as they were all equally amazing! This place has it all. Beautiful view of the lake and vineyard too. Will we be back soon? HARD YES!!!

Tracy Nguyen

This place was beautiful! We had some gelato and took a stroll along the vineyards and it was such a beautiful sight????

Marco Wong

Lovely winery with great views. Loved the location of the food truck by the lake.

We had an amazing lunch experience at the restaurant. The sour bread pita bread served on lime stone with cream was tasty & very unique. The menu was very unique and crafted with local ingredients like garlic scape and asparagus grilled and served in yoghurt sauce with mint and cold pressed sunflower oil was simple elegant and memorable. Pasta was also unique. Three course menu was pricy @55 but good value for a gourmet! If you are a big eater you might have to go for a lice of pizza later:-)The setting and the cool breeze was relaxing and enjoyable. Last but not least our waitress Anastasiya understood our dietary restrictions, pleasant, courteous and ensured we had a great experience. Chef came out and we enjoyed chatting with him. He has amazing international experience and has cleverly brought in unique ingredients in a subtle way into the menu! Highly recommended as a must do in the county!

Jill Summerhayes

We had a wonderful dinner here, six courses, superbly proportioned. Each course a delight of unusual flavours enhancing the dish, beautifully garnished. All from local farm shop. Good variety of wines, lovely setting. Staff efficient and charming especially Damien and Anastasia. Thank you for a great way to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone appreciating fine gourmet food served with a flair.

An excellent dining experience at Waupoos Estates. We reserved via OpenTable for a table of 4. From the wood oven baked bread to the infused blueberry custard, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and presentation. In addition to the wonderful food, we appreciated the house white (a great value) and were treated to a magnificent full arch rainbow. I am sure the vineyard can’t guarantee a rainbow every time but it sure did add to the ambiance and atmosphere… I think we closed the place. One suggestion: add a comment on OpenTable with respect to the prix fixe menu. For locals who haven’t visited since the coronavirus, they might be surprised and for visitors, it would help with planning.

Delicious lunch at Waupoos. The charcuterie plate was a hit with everyone, and the fish was amazing - lots of fish and light on the batter. Kids enjoyed it as well. Our server was amazing. Enjoyed wandering around the winery grounds and finished off the visit with a tasting. Definitely worth a visit.

Lucy Staves

This is a really pretty winery with some really nice (and affordable) wines. It backs onto the lake and has beautiful gardens where you can wander around with a glass of wine (my kids really enjoyed playing in the gardens trying to catch butterflies and frogs). There was a wedding being set up for later in the day in a marquee in the grounds which looked amazing. There is a really good sweet shop with gelato and also a petting zoo right over the street which our kids really enjoyed. We stayed for lunch which is where things were slightly disappointing and why I haven’t given the review 5 stars. Pros: - food was delicious; good selection including a decent kids menu and everything was fresh and tasty - there’s a lovely patio and then also a really nice indoor seating area Cons: - service was pretty bad; they were very nice but there just weren’t enough servers working for a Saturday lunchtime on labour day weekend. We waited about 10 mins for anyone to even seat us. - we asked to sit on the patio but were told we couldn’t as we didn’t have a reservation. About half the tables on the patio were empty and they remained empty the whole time we were there. - everything just took quite a long time; waiting to place our order, waiting for our food to arrive, waiting for our plates to be cleared... we had to get up and go find someone in the end to order ice cream for the kids and get our bill. It probably wouldn’t have felt as long if we weren’t with impatient kids! I’d definitely recommend going and for getting food here - it’s lovely - just make sure you call ahead if you want to sit on the patio.

Stephane St Louis

Friendly staff, wine wasn't good. Ended up only paying for tasting, but have purchased any wine.

This place is soooo damme cute. You can enjoy some good food from the food truck right on the water. And you can even buy a bottle of wine and then enjoy it here on the lawn at a picnic table. Nothing like smelling the grapes from the vineyard while enjoying the sun.

Benjamin Perrin (Ben)

Older winery in Picton, nice selection of wines for tasting and beautiful garden area to sit in while tasting overlooking some of the vines. A short trail you can walk along that leads to the edge of the lake behind it.

Brendan Ryde

Absolutely gorgeous winery, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, fantastic wines, and very welcoming staff. Do yourself a favour and venture into Waupoos and have some wine, or cider, while eating some great local food, all while siting on the waters edge.

Nicole Gentner

I was sitting on the grass near the parking lot and an older couple came to sit near me and brought out some food from a cooler & began to eat. An employee on a quad pulled up and very rudely said “This isn’t a park, you can’t eat here”. They politely said “no problem” and packed up the food while he tore off on the quad. I chatted with the couple. Yes, there was a sign on a nearby tree that stated “no outside food” (which neither I nor they had noticed), but their policy is not the issue here. The problem is the extremely rude, unprofessional way that he delivered the message. I asked one of the employees who the man on the quad was & she said it was the manager. I was even more disgusted. A higher level of professionalism & emotional intelligence would be expected in a manager. How embarrassing for him. I hope this review is noted and discussed in his performance management review. Later, he also ripped around on that quad kicking up a big cloud of dust from the road on a group of us while we were sampling the cider. As a side note, the couple had said they had spent a lot of time money at the business. They were not blatantly bringing a cooler down to the main estate grounds near the water to eat along with the wine they were sampling. They were just having a quick bite on a very small grassy area beside their car and the highway before driving home. Again the issue isn’t the policy it is the manager’s behaviour, but you also think he could have used some discretion and perspective for this particular scenario to curb his anger and irritation.

Thank you for accommodating a 3 year old full of energy within this high end dinner experience. Adults enjoyed the food and views while trying to supervise the 3 year old running around the Vinyard, and visiting all the farm animals a couple of times The food was impressive, the staff very pleasant and accommodating. Only criticism is the duck for the main meal being a bit too salty, but otherwise amazing.

We were there with another couple beginning of August. We were so happy to get away. The Winery and the grounds are lovely. The estate home we stayed in was also huge, comfortable and welcoming. I can't say enough about Kyle and his …

Beautiful spot to stop and check out in Prince Edward County. Excellent cider and wine, great food and amazing view. Very welcoming and accommodating to families especially with all the farm animals/petting zoom. My family very much enjoyed our time spent at here.

Frank Ricci

Kyle an employee of this establishment ( a chef I believe), accused me of not being able to drive because of me being of Indian decent. He also implied all “people” from Brampton cannot drive. Please train your employees to be more accepting regardless of ones race!

Friendly Service. Beautiful Winery. Excellent food. I had the Striploin and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. My wife had the Pasta special and it was extremely fresh. Great experience.

Trevor Godfrey

Lovely grounds, food was good but expensive for lunch. Great bread made on outside wood ovens. House wine was good. Wine tasting available. Staff were professional & hospitable.

Samantha Mahoney

I’ve been here many times but at my most recent visit they had changed their menu to a fixed price one. For $55 my friends and I got terrible salads (mine consisted of greens that tasted like dirt, and at the table beside us we witnessed somebody complain about theirs), an absolutely minuscule piece of fish (4-5 bites) and a couple small pieces of vegetables, dessert and bread. We left hungry and ripped off. Will not be coming back here.

This place is a true gem! Been here a couple of times in person and also order their wines online regularly. Their property is beautiful and they even allow dogs! All their red wines are so good. I am not an expert but I have tried many, …

holesumgurl

The atmosphere was absolutely breath taking, however for three people the bill came to over $400. The fixed menu was $95 each and it was not impressive.... unfortunately. The beef was very tough and hard to cut. Everything was doused in salt, including the dessert with chives....? I think they should lower the price and re-think the menu.

Jasmine Jackman

Beautiful location. Awesome views! Restaurant on the water. Only open Wednesday to Sunday.

Helen Quaresma

It was fine. we weren't able to get a spot on the patio for food. it was quite busy. Drink offerings were surprisingly limited.

Alessandro Bruno

From the appetizer to the dessert everything was impeccable, the staff always attentive and never invasive. In fact the service was great. And don’t let my use of the word ‘impeccable’ fool you, there’s not a hint of pretense do the restaurant or its staff. Yet, those who are pretentious will find little to complain when they taste the highly professionally made – if gregariously served meals. I highly recommend the eggs benedict with trout – for dinner. I’m sure good old Benny would have approved this turf to surf…or better stream...variation – both in terms of ingredients and schedule in the grand order of culinary chronology. Who said you can’t have eggs for dinner? ‘Variation on the stream’ by chef Nathan Isberg is what I call it. Legend has it that Lemuel Benedict, a Wall Street broker who happened to have gotten drunk one night in 1894, wondering about New York City looking for an antidote for the hangover the next morning. Having amassed a small fortune, and having maintained sufficient wits to remember this fact, he decided to stumble in the Waldorf Astoria, whereupon he ordered a combination of toast, butter, bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise, thus creating one of the most delicious breakfast items in western history. Certainly, the first time I tried them, as a budding teenager, I thought to myself: “I’m in there”. I mentioned the trout because it helps set the tone for the foods on offer at the Waupoos restaurant. Apart from the local wines (yes, you guessed it, Waupoos Winery Restaurant does have a winery attached to it), the menu represents a journey through the flavors of Prince Edward County, enhanced and enhanced by the chef’s expert hands and taste. More than a dinner, this is the place to enjoy a lovely experience. It’s a wonderful place, located right on the bank of Lake Ontario, whose view alone is worth the time needed to get there – even better if you happen to be visiting the county, staying at one of the lovely Airbnb homes (I stayed at Cowbelle House, just 5.0 km away) or inns near Picton, ON. – you can go by bicycle if you like. Picton, by the way, is home to one the characters in one of the most famous Canadian novels (and related acclaimed movie) of the past 50 years (the English Patient) at least one visit. I’m sure Count Lazlo de Almasy and the novel’s author Michael Ondaatje would approve. This restaurant is an authentic and therefore rare expression of the uncontaminated territory (for now) that surrounds it. With fun and imagination – and most of all with kindness – the chef pays homage to, enhancing, local products. Fresh water fish are on the menu, as are local meats, restaurant made salamis, duck prosciutto, marinated vegetables and pear slices, perhaps rabbit – Waupoos does mean rabbit in the native language of the region. And of course, all dishes the dishes are cleverly enhanced by wild and more domesticated herbs. The wine and beer list are local, naturally, and definitely worth trying – including some of the local beers and an interesting local version of Lambrusco (a sparkling red). It’s a very special place. A taste journey full of surprises, from the beginning to the end. Welcoming and very kind people, who make you feel at home in a lovely and tranquil place. Oh, and the desserts were delicious – and hardly trivial. Unexpectedly, delicious variations on a panna cotta, made special by the chef on the spot and with no fuss. And the fun does not end when the bill arrives. Truly, the sums for a nice dinners are surprisingly affordable, below average I’d say – but the meals are definitely above.

What a wonderful little winery. A lot of attention to detail on the property. There was a food truck tucked way back towards the lake. No wine at the truck, but try the Poutine!

C

My partner and I enjoyed a late night, six course, prix-fixed dinner here and it was extremely special. Deliciously made and well seasoned. Wine was great, just wished we could have visited the tasting room (closed when we came by). Next time!

John Piper

Covid rules made it less of an experience but the two ladies at the wine counter were very helpful. The red was enjoyed by my winesnob daughter.

Christopher James

Pretty property. We enjoyed a nice stroll down to the water and around the grounds. Wine tasting was reasonably priced, and the fee is waived if you purchase two or more bottles. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great selection of wines to choose from in a variety of styles and at a nice range of price points. There is also a small candy shoppe attached. We plan to visit again sometime and dine at the restaurant.

Sin Jaz

We didn’t try the food here but the set up and winery is beautiful. Can’t wait to come back for food.

Chris Liu

Good food with friendly staff. I was here with a group. The Herring was delicious. Be careful though about swallowing fish bones. They also have good dessert. Be advised that items in season will not be available. They tend to serve items that are within season to keep to their farm to restaurant table theme.

Meg E

I had my wedding at Waupoos Winery this past weekend. I highly suggest this venue. It was beautiful! The grounds are absolutely stunning and the ceremony site on the water is perfect. We had a small wedding reception in the Farm house, which is a stunning historic home. The food was fantastic. I want to compliment the staff who were so great at my wedding. They were friendly, professional and very experienced. Thank you to the waitstaff, bartenders, chef and wedding coordinators for making making my day so perfect.

Priyanka Potnis

We had a great time at the Waupoos Estates Winery. Refreshing white wine- white rabbit with a beautiful backdrop of St. Lawrence River. There's plenty of space to relax and enjoy your wine and food. Enjoyed the Fish & chips served at the …
