I recently moved to North Vancouver after buying a house with my 80-year-old mother as an alternative to her going into a care home. We have been housebound due to the pandemic, but I wanted her first Christmas on the North Shore to be special. Louis was kind enough to provide us with a mouth-watering, multi-course meal on Dec. 24th. The food was plentiful and everything from the Cornish hens to the caramel croissant pudding was magnificent! We truly appreciated him going out of his way to make the holidays memorable for us!

I tried their sandwiches and specials of the day. I found sandwiches too meaty and lacking in veggies and other ingredients. Their specials of the day are ok in terms of taste but clearly overpriced at $13 and quite small portions too. I'd wish to come here more often but because of small portions/price it doesn't make sense.

On July 26, 2014 our son David married his sweetheart Kara in the garden of our friend's home. It was a once in a life time event as he is our one and only! We had 100 guests and it was important to get things right! I had the daunting task of searching out a caterer amid all the possible choices. Many I called were too expensive and others were not only expensive but fussy, or unfriendly, or inflexible. A friend from North Vancouver said, 'Have you tried Louis'? Well!, that first call to Louis Gervais Fine Foods and I knew this was the one! The event planner was flexible, friendly, knowledgeable, fun! The food offerings were amazing and perfect for how we had imagined the day unfolding. The best part, besides being affordable, was that they did everything they promised, they did it perfectly, and they did it without distracting the guests from main event. Isn't that wonderful?! Well we think so too! 5 stars for sure.

The food that evening surpassed our wildest expectations and impressed even the pickiest in the group that evening. Louis Gervais recently catered our wedding and they blew it OUT OF THE PARK. We served breakfast for dinner and honestly, nearly a month later people are still talking about how awesome it was. Our appies were outstanding and for the main course we served chicken and waffles, yogurt parfaits (with the best homemade granola I've ever had) and build your own breakfast burritos. For dessert we had ice cream sandwiches with not one but three types of cookies. The late night snack were grilled cheese sandwiches with amazing homemade ketchup and BBQ sauce. Every dish was fresh, delicious, made with quality ingredients. They were able to accommodate our vegan and gluten-free friends as well; everyone left so satisfied with what they ate. Their service -- everything from working with Nicole to arrange the menu to the service day of was more than we could have expected. They went over and above every step of the way. Go get yourself a grilled cheese at their cafe and you'll see what I mean. SO. GOOD!

They sent four people to assist: a Chef, bartender, lead server, and server. The staff were focused and on the ball in every aspect. Especially the vegan team members - they said that the vegan main dish and dessert were some of the best vegan items they've ever had!! I enjoyed my lunch at this establishment today. I must say the the customer service left much to be desired. I realized shortly after I had left that I mistakenly left my Invisalign wrapped in a napkin beside my plate. I expected that they’d likely been tossed in the garbage but I took a chance anyhow and asked a young man with a toque and glasses standing at the counter if he had happened to see them. He seemed instantly annoyed that I’d bothered to ask and was quick to say they would have been thrown out. I asked him if it wouldn’t be too much trouble, would he please ask the rest of the staff. He shrugged me off and said that wouldn’t be necessary because if anyone would have found them they would have been thrown out. He couldn’t even extend the decency to empathize with me or walk to the kitchen as a courtesy to ask his colleagues. Then without any further prompt, he said ‘I’m not digging through the garbage’ (as if I’d asked him to). I understand that this was my mistake but is customer service a lost art? Kindly do not prompt me to tip at a cafe if that is the kind of service I should expect. Ill grab a wrap from starbucks next time where I’m greeted with a boisterous smile and treated as though they’d like to have me back.

When I called, I was directed to review their website for more information. I found their webpage to not have the information I needed and when I called back to inquire again, I spoke to a staff member named Kelly. She was extremely rude and unprofessional, which really surprised me as I was hoping to hire Louis Gervais for my dinner party. After a series of questions to Kelly, I was basically just told to go elsewhere. I typically don’t take the time to write reviews about businesses, because as a business owner myself I understand you can’t make everyone happy. But I felt it necessary in this particular situation as I was so disappointed with how I was treated and my inquiry was handled.

Words cannot explain how happy we were with Louis Gervais Fine Foods as our catering company for our wedding. We were planning the wedding in Vancouver from Australia, so the stress could have been really high but Nicole from Louis Gervais just took all the pressure off and put our minds at ease. Starting from the email response when I first approached them for a quote, Louis Gervais stood out from all the other catering companies that I contacted. This was done with genuine follow through as well!!! When we got to Vancouver with only three weeks leading up to the wedding, Nicole had everything organized for us. We were greeted by the kitchen staff with such warmth and hospitality. Everything we tasted was sensational and was replicated on our wedding day. It really stood out from the various other caterers we had tried at other events in the past. Our guests continuously commented on this as well as the quantity of the food. There is always the worry when you have cocktail food at a wedding that people are going to go home hungry, but this was not the case. We had food leftover!!! It was great value for the amount we spent. Finally, Nicole's help with the reception venue set up was an unexpected bonus that I infinitely thank Nicole and Louis Gervais for. Nicole just knew exactly the type of wedding we wanted just by the few conversation we had leading up to the wedding and set everything up EXACTLY the way I envisioned it, and even more elegantly, with a lot of attention to detail! Having sought quotes from 3 companies, I selected Louis Gervais to provide their catering service for my surprise birthday party for my wife at our home with 45 guests. This was my first time dealing with LG and it was a pretty challenging situation (including needing a fair amount of logistical advice to pull it off without a hitch and in a relatively small party area). From the moment I spoke with Ariana, it was evident that she wanted to deliver on my vision for the party. Everything was perfect. The food, the quality of her staff (the lead server, Monique, was outstanding), the enthusiasm they had the night of the party, and the setup left nothing for me to worry about. Our guests are talking about how great the food was and how they loved everything from the appys to the plated meal. Elisa was so easy to talk to, everything seemed to go so smooth thru the whole process. They knew that my husband was really looking forward to the little grilled cheese bites with tomato soup shot so they even packed some away in the limo when we went to do photos and left some up at the head table when we got back. They were all absolutely wonderful and we all couldn't have asked for better service, food, and overall experience. From the beginning of the experience I worked directly with Kelly. She was incredibly professional and always answered my emails very quickly and was always super helpful. Marnie who also is the event planner was amazing as well. She ended up being at the event managing it the entire time and I couldn't have asked for someone more calm, friendly, and just overall fun to have around! I seriously ended up feeling like Marnie and the gang were family at the end of the party and loved having them around and helping me. Also, before the event when I felt a little stressed, Marnie eased all my stress and also kept me laughing which is definitely a bonus! The staff during the event were all incredible. They helped me set up and were amazing throughout the event. The food was insanely DELICIOUS. We ended up picking a family style menu and with an ever growing guest list the team was super accommodating even a few hours before the event! Also, when we had to add some vegan options a few days before they did not hesitate once to help us with that. The actual food on the event was incredible and our guests are still to this day chatting about it. Everything was perfection and myself as well as the guests and my family had no complaints or wish anything was different. Overall, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I would definitely use both the venue and catering again.

How many companies call you 2 days before your event to confirm the time that they will arrive at the venue and then follow up with an email that lists all of their contact information (names & cell numbers) so should you need to contact them you know they are there for you. The food was 'devine' and our guests are still talking abut it. A few of the comments are: "The food was fabulous; who are these caterers?"; "OMG the food .... where did you find them?"and "your Caterers were amazing". We also can't say enough good things about our Chef and Servers, they were delightful: The Chef, was experienced, comfortable and very competent, even for being in a strange, but well designed, kitchen. The wedding venue was outside by the pool of a friend's private home and at the end of the evening the Chef even washed their Kitchen floor before leaving; simply amazing! The Lead Server, Carmen and the 2nd Server, Jee, were on top of their game, efficiently handling and serving the Champagne for the Toasts and the Canape Food Service that followed. Both Servers interacted with our guests with such good humour while maintaining a level of professionalism. They made all of our guests feel comfortable and 'everyone' loved them. This is, bar none, one of the best companies I have ever dealt with and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Two words would describe this business very well: Irresponsible and unprofessional. After booking a menu tasting with my fiancee a month in advance accompanied by a $107.10 deposit, we were asked a couple of days before the tasting date if we could somehow come in 2 hours earlier. After much deliberation we said sure since the date had not changed. A day later we get asked AGAIN to see if we can reschedule the tasting to some other day as the owner/chef decided to spend the whole day with his granddaughter. Sure, family is important but as a business you need to have the decency to honor your promise. What most businesses can deliver this caterer lacks badly in and that's keeping a promise. Without a doubt this has been the most unpleasant experience dealing with the most irresponsible and unprofessional group of people. On the bright side, we're so glad we're not wasting our money on such an unethical business. Do yourself a favor and take your business else where. There are far better caterers out there who can at least honor commitments.

Louis Gervais catered my wedding an did an absolutely fantastic job. I had a specific dish I wanted made that was not on their menu and they made a delicious version just for us. (Truffle pasta - HIGHLY recommend). We had MULTIPLE guests tell us it was the best wedding food they ever had. For our cocktail hour we did a massive charcuterie and cheese board and it was PHENOMENAL. We did a dessert buffet instead of cake and everything Louis created was just awesome. I can't say enough good things. The staff was friendly and professional with lots of attention to details. My only regret is not eating more of the food! I was so busy on the day. On top of everything being spectacular - their prices were incredibly reasonable compared to other caterers for food that was better than what other caterers were offering. Can not recommend Louis and his team enough for your big day.

Louis is an amazing chef and a fantastic guy. We have had incredible meals of all sorts from Louis over the years -- take out, eat in, catered at our home as well as the home of friends, and have always been extremely impressed with quality and value.
