My experience at the Wedding Loft was good. The selection was adequate and the staff was helpful and pleasant; however, the owner was unable to provide a sales receipt for my dress, which she told me was due to a change in the software - I didn't find this right.
The major issue that I had was with their recommended seamstress. I have heard of a few people being dissatisfied with her work before and unfortunately my wedding dress was one of them. I had to make a total of six trips down to Miramichi from Bathurst - two of these trips being the week of my wedding. I had my wedding shoes since the initial fitting and had only lost 5 lbs since the initial fitting as well. My dress was an expensive size 6 Allure dress.
She fitted my dress as either an inexperience seamstress or as someone just cutting corners. The week of the wedding, the seamstress simply shrugged off my ill-fitting dress by telling me that I should gain some weight for it to fit properly. She was able to bunch a fist full of fabric around the waist and did not adjust it. I do not know very much about dress fitting and had put full trust in this seamstress. Although this review will not change how uncomfortable I was in my dress on my wedding day, I hope that it does prevent other brides from going through the same experience. During my final fitting, I had felt in the wrong, as though it was my fault for the way my body is; however, a competent seamstress should be able to make a dress fit any body type like a glove.
