Came to guisachan house while on my holiday in Kelowna, my 90 year old grandparents recommended to eat here. We told the waiter/hostess that we need a table for 9 people. She immediately rolled her eyes in front of us and said "you guys should have called ahead" as she walked away from us and completely ignored us. There couldn't have been more than 12 people total eating in the whole restaurant. As we sat there awkwardly/uncomfortably not knowing what to do, she finally came back and said unprofessionally that she would check to see if she could accommodate us. With all of this, it was clearly noted that we were not welcomed in the restaurant. We had all gotten dressed up nicely and were excited to enjoy a nice lunch with family. The experience in guisachan killed a lot of the happy vibes and caused us to leave and eat somewhere else. I could not imagine the poor service that the waiter/hostess would have given us if we had chosen to wait long enough to sit down and eat. We went into the kitchen and told the manager about the treatment we received. Horrible experience and horrible restaurant. Take your business elsewhere.
Food is spectacular, staff are phenomenal, cook is out of this world.
Attended a beautiful wedding here. One stop shop for wedding ceremony, reception, flowers, cake, meal.... They do it all! Flowers weren't that fresh but the rest was good. Beautiful grounds for a summer wedding!
Terrible service. Slow and unprofessional. The staff seriously needs to be trained in 5 star food service. They didn't even know how to pour wine properly. And warm tap water in the summer? Terrible food. Low quality. Canned chicken in the miniscual serving of pasta I had. Really? Uninspired presentation. Completely pedestrian. I've seen better plating at Denny's. I was hoping for a Stanley Park Teahouse experience. Complete opposite. They're lucky I'm giving them 2 stars. Perhaps they get their food from the same place as the hospital?
Went here for mother's Day a couple years ago and the food, service, everything was amazing. We stopped by today to see the gardens and were so welcome by Johanna and Tristian' hospitality! I really do love this place. It's a must see!
We had the pleasure of having our wedding at this beautiful location. The grounds are spectacular, and Georg's service and staff are wonderful. They did a great job with the flowers, food and cake; Georg's team made sure that our guests were well taken care of. Thank you for making our day memorable.
Georg was an amazing wedding planner! My husband and I got married August 16th 2014 and we couldn't ask for a more professional, dedicated, and hardworking man to take care of every detail. Thank you Georg for making us feel like family!
LOVE THIS PLACE ... THE STAFF ARE INCREDIBLE!!!!
Our wedding here this last October was absolutely perfect. Georg, Laura and the staff are gracious, and pulled our over the top Doctor Who themed wedding off perfectly. So accommodating to our preferences and needs. Amazing food. Perfect touches and setup. If you're going to get married, do it here. The atmosphere is intimate, three grounds are beautiful, you couldn't ask for more.
Georg and his staff were wonderful at making sure everthing went as good as we could have hoped for. What was really fantastic was that we made most of our arrangements with him on the phone and online as we live in Germany. It was such a great thing that we could do so much from so far away. Then when we had arrived and had personal contact having everything under control and running smoothly was such a relief for us. We took care of our side of the requirements and could leave many of the things to Georg and his team which they managed calmly, professionally and warmly to help make our big day one that we will cherish always! Thanks again! Yours Truly, Almut and Terrence
We came here for a work dinner party and were not impressed. The venue is nice. They couldn't even shovel the walkway for their guests knowing that 60+ people were coming for dinner that night. Lucky that no one got hurt. The dinner was very poor. The first course soup tasted like it came out of a bag. The salad was dismal and flavourless. We had been looking forward to this dinner for over a month. The "new York beef" choice on the menu was very vague, before we arrived we weren't sure if it was going to be a New York steak, or a roast where you would get slices of it. Instead it was a very over cooked low quality piece of meat that was mostly fat and grissel. The whole meal sat in a soup of sauce. The veggies were very bland. Overall the dinner was quite poor. I am not sure if they even made any of the courses in house. It al looked and tasted like it was pre made somewhere else.
Service was slow and I could not stay to eat at lunch. When the woman did cone around she was very friendly, but I was already out of time and could not risk the rest of the experience to be as slow.
Beautiful setting for lunch.
Two of our children have been married and held their receptions at Guisachan House. Each time was a wonderful, carefree experience. George Reider took care of every detail, thought of a few we hadn't thought of and quickly attended to any issues that arose. We were able to enjoy every moment of our daughters and our sons weddings. We have one child who is not married as yet and we would be very happy to hold that wedding at Guisachan House also.
My wife and I got married there this July and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The grounds looked gorgeous, all of my guests kept commenting on how they didn't know such a pretty spot was tucked away so close to downtown. The food was great, especially the salad with a balsamic vinaigrette, a salad dressing I normally don't like but the way Guisachan house made it was so incredibly tasty. The staff was very friendly but most of all they were excellent at dealing with all the little problems that came up during the wedding so my bride and I could just concentrate on having a good time. Thank you George for a magical day.
Good food
Great place for weddings
AMAZING WEDDING! After our destination wedding plans fell through due to a hurricane, we were left scrambling to find another venue with very limited time. George had one day left and agreed to host. Being a little stressed about the entire situation and having to start the planning process all over again, George assured us that he would take care of everything!...well almost. From the food, to the flowers, decorations, ice sculptures, music, dressing rooms...booze, you name it, George had it covered and in first-class fashion. I was told to expect things to go wrong on the wedding day and not to worry about it. I can honestly say that I can't even recall one mishap. It was the perfect day. I would highly recommend Guisachan House Restaurant for your wedding venue...or just drop in for lunch. The food is first class! To George and the staff, thank you for not only saving our wedding, but for going above and beyond and making the day even better than our original plans. Thank you so much!
Great lunch
These crepes are worse then the holocaust. They were dry and the potatoes were burnt. There was 6 of us and 3 couldnt finish our meal.
George and his staff are the kindest and most flexible people you will ever meet. We were married there August of 2014 and the venue was gorgeous. The menu is over the top fantastic and the flavor combinations were ingenious. We would highly recommend The Guisachan House to any classy couple looking to get married.
came for a Sunday lunch with family, 7 people including 3 hungry young men. Everyone chose different options, everyone was happy with their meal and had plenty to eat. Oct 2015
My daughter chose the Guisachan House for her wedding. The food, flowers, ice carving, and garden were perfect. I was a little concerned about the bigger room fitting 80 ppl however it was fine and made it more intimate.
This review is long over due! We got married at Guisachan House in July 2020. The Guisachan house venue has beautiful gardens, a lovely glass/wood air-conditioned interior space, and many nice areas on the grounds for photos, but none of that is what makes the venue great. Georg and his team is what make it great. He is very relaxed, accommodating, kind and generous. He was always willing to answer our questions, listen to our wants for the big day and willing to make them happen. He went above and beyond to make our wedding day wonderful. We did a tasting for the food menu and weren't quite satisfied with a couple of the options. The next time we came back to see him he surprised us by remaking one item that we were unsure on for us and it was scrumptious. The food was just one of the things our guests were raving about. I highly recommend the salmon! I brought in a lot of my own decor, but his team did a good job of setting it all up for us. On the day of the wedding the service for dinner and drinks was impeccable. He supplies a large team and they did an amazing job of attending to our guests. The bridal suite that is included for getting ready was also really nice, lots of space for the bridal party to prepare. See some of the attached photos for flowers, ice sculpture, and cake that are included in his bookings. Don't be afraid to tell him what you are thinking or run ideas past him, he is very easy to work with and consistently does whatever he can to make sure your wedding day is everything you are hoping for. We definitely recommend booking the Guisachan House for a wedding. Georg is a gem! - C&D Seminchuk Photos by Melissa from White Olive Photo
Best restaurant in Kelowna, quite possibly Canada! The Chef is a wizard with his crepes, a large menu selection and everything tasty , fresh and presented with care. Setting is exquisite - a charming building with perfectly set tables and beautiful manicured gardens surrounding you. Soon the hummingbirds will be out :) I'm addicted the Chicken and Mushroom crepes. The Chef and Host is one of the nicest people I've ever met, always a pleasure to chat with him If I could give more starts I would, highly recommend to all Normajean McGuire
We had our company staff party here and the food was fabulous. The decorations were beautiful and the staff were friendly and attentive. We would recommend any celebration here. Georg Rieder is really a world class chef.
Having our wedding 3 years ago at Guisachan House Restaurant was brilliant, everything was taken care of by Georg and his staff down to the smallest item. The food he served us (after we chose the menu from an amazing sample dinner!) blew everyone away. Our friends and family STILL are talking about how amazing the experience and the food was! Not simply for the wedding aspect though - as a casual lunch, the menu the service and food cannot be beat. You'd expect to pay much more for a 3 course gourmet meal, surrounded by the gardens. It's very well priced for what you get! The venue gives a unique and classy experience for all, and you can walk it off after in the gardens! Highly recommended for anything from brunches to weddings!
Beautiful place, excellent staff, very accommodating, and excellent food. I would recommend for anyone looking to host their wedding to do it here.
I have had lunch here three times, and the first two I occasions I found it "fine" (the food was nothing special and took a long time to arrive, but the beautiful atmosphere and friendly waitress made up for it, the cook came out to greet us and seemed like a really nice guy---four stars.) But my last experience was terrible. Party of around 10 with a reservation on a Sunday afternoon (this took place several months ago.) I thought they had been informed ahead of time that someone in the party had a gluten intolerance (it's actually a wheat allergy, but people tend to better understand gluten-free so I tell them this or "I can't have flour.") but based on the waitress's attitude maybe not. It didn't seem like a big deal because the other times we had eaten there, they had shown me items on the menu that were safe and even prepared me a simple dessert substitute. I informed her of my allergy and she said nothing, no suggestions. I asked her about the contents of an item on the menu and got no response. I rephrased the question and got an unintelligible grunt. Surprised, and trying to speed up the process, I instead pointed to something I'd eaten there before and asked just to verify it was still considered gluten-free. GRUNT. Not "mhm", not "uh-uh", just a grunt. Managed to get a "yes" out of her but she almost seemed... to be intentionally drawing it out so the other guests would have to sit and stare at me? Could be my imagination, but either way it was weird. When asked about a salad I told her "no croutons, please," in the back of my mind thinking that was really obvious, but wanted it out there just to be safe. Salad comes. Covered in croutons. I send it back. When it returns, it's obvious the croutons were just picked off the top, because there are crumbs all over the place and one still lurking in the bottom of the bowl. I send it back a second time and politely explain AGAIN that bread or flour will make me ill. The other guests have all finished their salads by the time mine comes, and now I'm skeptical about the safety of my entree. Entree comes and it is lukewarm and pretty bland, same as I recall. The waitress wasn't seen to refill water until almost everyone was finished eating, and she was stonefaced and silent. She refilled half the table's glasses and never came back with a pitcher for our end. Dessert that day was a slice of cake, which she plonked in front of me first out of all others. I told her yet again, still struggling to be sweet and polite and not seem like a demanding customer, that I cannot have flour. She scowls, slides the cake over to another person at the table and goes back to serving, then walks off without another word to anyone. Now I don't expect them to whip me up some glorious gluten-free masterpiece or anything, but the prior times I went there they had prepared me a small plate of sliced fruits to nibble while the others ate their cake. Simple, tasty, thoughtful, and it earned them a larger tip for the trouble. If they didn't get the memo about the allergy, fine, but I think I should have gotten a small discount for only receiving 2/3 of a 3 course meal and being made out like an idiot for an allergy I can't help. Simply put, the waitress's attitude was absolutely inexcusable. I don't expect to be treated like a princess and fully realize my allergy often means I go without, but people like her are the reason I'm often embarrassed to mention it in public at all. She was "cool and unaffected" with the other customers but downright stiff and glowering with me, like she was cussing me out in her head the entire time. After getting my food wrong that many times and never offering so much as a quick "sorry about that", I have to wonder if she was doing it intentionally. I don't know her name, but I believe she had brown hair and a forearm/wrist tattoo. My group likes this restaurant for the atmosphere but I am now extremely hesitant to waste any more money on them.
We had our Wedding at the Guisachan House on October 10th, 2020, and it was perfect. George and his staff are amazing. He will tell you at the beginning, you're gonna be all crazy and stressed out, but no need, they have everything covered. And he meant it. They are warm and friendly and really open the house up for you. George knows brides like he knows how to cook the perfect steak! It's like being at home. I loved it. The only thing I would change, is getting rid of COVD :) We will be back to celebrate out anniversaries there. It will forever be a special place to us <3
Ghosts are good stuff
We were attending a wedding. So not the normal menu. Food was ok. Service was awesome. Location is awesome. Don't know if I would go here for lunch.
Beautiful grounds excellent food was a great place for a wedding
Beautiful setting. Very clean and festive. Excellent service. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par. Soup was supposed to be tomato basil. We were served watery vegetable instead. If it wasn't from a can, the veg definitely were. Salad was lacklustre at best. Lunches were boring, with little in the way of flavour or presentation. For example my veggie quiche was filled with canned veg. Nothing was fresh. Disappointing.
To Georg and his staff..I know this is a little late but like the saying-- better late than never--- I want to thank Georg and his staff for the EXCELLENT job he and his staff did for our son's wedding. It was indeed a pleasure to see such perfection in everything from the outdoor setting, to the meal, the hospitality, etc...Seeing our wedding picture from 52 years ago, along with our 2 daughters weddings along with the family of the bride on the beautiful mantle was an extra special treat... I do hope we get to travel to Kelowna again so we can have lunch at your restaurant...THANKS AGAIN
Our wedding at Guisachan house was flawless. From the initial meetings with Georg, right through to the day, the service we received was second to none. The personal involvement, obvious investment and attention to detail that Georg and his staff have is what makes it special. The building and the grounds are beautiful, but the service and the knowledge that everything from decor to set up and takedown is looked after sets this venue apart from the rest. The food was fantastic, the decor elegant, and our guests loved being served dinner instead of the normal buffet style. We highly recommend this venue to other couples!
Go try their three course lunch sometime and enjoy the view! I ordered the eggs bene crepe and it was delicious. Generous portions and quality food.
We had booked a table for 7 for lunch. This was an meal we had planed as a family after my father-in-laws funeral. We were rudely greeted by a waitress. We were eventually served after having to go look for said waitress, that had snapped "I'll be there in a minute" on request of service. When the food did eventually show, the plates, 4 of the seven had chips in them, big chips and more than 1. Two of our party had the Sole which was served piping cold!! The Asian chicken was as if it had sat for 10 prior to severing and was a soggy mess. My Crepes Gusiachan were burnt, crusty and cold. All in all this restaurant is the worst I've been to in Kelowna and will never go again. Weapons Grade Rubbish, Service and Food!
Waited for 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the waitress who came and went giving us the stink eye. Eventually she said she would be with us shortly, but continued to come and go, sighing loudly at our presence. We left before we were seated as we felt extremely unwelcome. If we had arrived just before closing, or if the restaurant had been extremely busy I could understand, but we arrived an hour and a half before closing and there were only two tables seated. Very disappointing.
Great place, enjoyed our meals
overwhelmingly dissapointing + terrible service! Service was very slow with a haughty waitress. Plates were served with chips in them (at least 3 plates in our party), the food was barely warm and had obviously sat sitting for a while. I asked for some lemon in my water -and when it arrived I was shocked. Instead of fresh cut lemon -this was shrivelled, turning brown and looked dehydrated. The waitress had a very unfriendly manner and had been rather blunt/sharp in a number of exchanges with us. Considering the food quality, lack of presentation (chipped plates/ old lemon/cold food) and lack of service; would not recommend this place at all.
The best restaurant in Kelowna. Stellar food and ambience. Service was excellent. Always perfect every time I have been there. I highly recommend it.
Fantastic beautiful place. Great staff. The BEST cream of mushroom soup I have ever had in my life! And the chicken breast was so flavourful. You really should go if you haven't yet. 10 out of 10
We had a beautiful day for a wedding at Guisachan House on August 21 2018 Jeremy and Veronica’s wedding. Georg and his staff looked after so many of the details. The flowers where beautiful and plentiful and the food was enjoyed by all. Many of our guests came from out of town and the grounds provided a wonderful place for many to catch up with each other or to meet the other guests at the wedding. Thank you to George and his staff for a wonderful day!
Very good home style cooked meal. Service was excellent. An absolutely beautiful setting and atmosphere. And the price was incredibly low.
Georg was absolutely amazing. We planned our wedding pre-pandemic, and he handled the transition better than we ever could have hoped. Georg is friendly, professional, and does absolutely everything he can to make sure your wedding day is the wedding of your dreams. I cannot express just how much stress was taken off our shoulders knowing that Georg would take care of every detail. He was AMAZING!! The gardens were beautiful, the food was delicious, everything was perfect. Our guests all raved about the food, and they all enjoyed roaming around the beautiful gardens. We truly cannot recommend the Guisachan House enough! The photos are from Abigail Eveline Photography, who I also highly recommend!
I have been to several weddings at the Guisachan House, and Georg and his team have them down to a science. They take care of everything, and are extremely attentive and accommodating. The grounds are beautiful, as is the historic building. If you're going to the Guisachan House for a meal as opposed to a wedding, you won't be disappointed either. Georg is a fabulous chef and he cooks chicken perfectly!
Called to inquire about a wedding venue and found the owner to be the most rude person I have come in contact with in a very long time. Rushing me through my few questions as if he had more important things to do, interrupting me when I was trying to express what I was looking for. Horrible Horrible experience! Take my advise and don't waste the time and effort even calling......
We recently got married at Guisachan House, and I cannot tell you how happy we are with the experience we had! I'm particularly a person who needs to be in control - but Georg had everything taken care of. Any special request or idea that I had was taken into consideration and looked after by him and his amazing staff. Georg is basically your own personal wedding planner!! Our guests cannot stop talking about how amazing the 4 course meal was, and how relaxed the whole day/evening went. I'm particularly impressed with the service and special attention to our guests that each staff member gave. Not only was the plated dinner amazing, but everyone had their meal at the same time (within 5 mins) which seems like a minor detail - but when you're on a schedule, it really made the whole evening run smoothly! If you're getting married, make sure you visit Guisachan House and speak with Georg! You'll be blown away. The grounds are so much better than any picture online.
Such a beautiful, comprehensive wedding venue, from the getting ready room, ceremony and reception locations, to the flowers, wedding cake, ice sculpture (yes, that's right!), and incredible food! As a wedding photographer, the whole heritage property is stunning, and really no need to go elsewhere, even for photos. George and his staff are very helpful and kind; all around, such a wonderful place to be!
I would like to take a moment to express the hospitality we experienced at our wedding in February 2015 with the staff at the Guisachan House. I don't normally write reviews, but, I feel as though I need to express how hospitable George and his staff were. They made us feel completely comfortable for our small gathering at our wedding. The food was amazing and George just couldn't be more pleasant to deal with. His main concern was that we enjoyed our day and that meant a lot to us. I would highly recommend the Guishachan House for a small or large wedding. The ambiance, the food, the service was all top notch. Donna Chambers (nee Harms)
Easter weekend we had celebrated my two kids Confirmation and decided to have George and his amazing staff take care of the brunch celebration. The service and professionalism that we received from the moment I had called George to inquire about the date of the event I was extremely impressed and confident that our party would be exactly how I envisioned it. Our 48 guests were all so impressed and the food was the talk of the day. The portions and the quality of food had exceeded our expectations. Every small detail request we had George and his staff were extremely accommodating and so pleasant through the planning and the day of. The entire ambiance of the restaurant and the grounds were so beautiful and amazing to take family photos as well. I will highly recommend to anyone who is planning a small or large event for any occasion to book and you will be completely satisfied with everything from the setting, food and service. Thank you once again George and staff for a wonderful and memorable day.
Generous portions of delicious meals in a lovely ambiance
We chose to have our wedding at Guisachan House as we were planning from afar and Georg offered the most complete package which made it very easy for us to plan. One thing you need to know about Georg is that he knows his stuff! He walked us through the whole process, told us great stories along the way and really had everything handled from the very beginning. The grounds was stunningly beautiful and the food was the best food in we had ever had! Our guests are still talking about the soup and the salmon! For me personally, I constantly dream about our wedding cake. It was beautiful and delicious. Nothing tastes as good as Georg's cooking. The day of, my now husband was so nervous he was practically begging Georg for something to do to calm his nerves! After laughing Georg had just the right thing to give him; a beer! The rest of the evening went by perfectly! The whole team was quick, efficient and very friendly! We will celebrate our one year anniversary at Guisachan. See you next year Georg!
Just had our wedding here and it was the most perfect location! The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly and accommodating. The gardens were lovely and still in bloom despite it being mid October. We were so happy to have our wedding here and even though we had to limit our guests due to covid it was still a wonderful day that was made possible and easy by all the staff at Guisachan house, especially Georg. Would recommend hosting your wedding here as they take care of pretty much everything from decor to cake, setup and takedown! Thank you Guisachan for hosting our special day!
April 4, 2015 one of the most amazing days in my life...My new husband and I would like to thank Georg for everything. The food was amazing, the gardens were breath taking and most of all his support during our stressful transition, taking all the pressure of organizing. I couldnt imagine a better day. Great staff and all the beauty of the okanagan. THANK YOU!!
Our overall experience with Georg and the staff at Guisachan House was fantastic. From the moment we booked the venue (11 months before our wedding) Georg shared a lot of insight and tips with us that made the whole process quite stress-free. Furthermore, in the weeks leading up to our wedding we stopped by to visit with a few questions (and soup ;)) and Georg put our minds at ease as we ironed out the final details of our big day. On our wedding day the staff of 10+ helped us throughout the morning and into the afternoon for our 3pm service. Our outdoor ceremony had lots of beautiful flowers and decor that was set up by the staff. The garden and grounds were a great back-drop for our photos and our ceremony. As we moved into the reception that evening the tables were beautifully decorated. The meal (salad, soup, entrees and dessert) was incredible! We are still getting relatives commenting on how great the meal was. The room was very intimate for the reception and allowed our guests to get to know each other (and even us) better. The recommendation to go with Guicachan House came from close friends and we'll be sure to spread the word whenever we know of someone looking for a wedding venue. We have already agreed that we will be going for lunch to Guisachan House for our 1 year anniversary for a meal (and soup)!
This review is written on behalf of my Mother, I took my mother who is 88, and my sister who is 70, to this restaurant. The restaurant was almost empty, and we sat down to have a nice visit and smal bite to eat. My mother wasn't hungry, nor was my sister, but I thought I would nibble on some lunch. The extremely rude waitress came up to us, and insisted that all three of us must order lunch, and that dessert is not served here. So I decided that I would order something by myself, and my mom and my sister would have a drink, because they were not hungry at that time. Well this waitress went and brought the manager, only to tell us that, and I quote "this is not a coffee shop. All three of you must order lunch, or leave the restaurant." He waved his hands over the table of plates and cutlery, and reminded us that "this setting HAS TO MAKE MONEY" I was absolutely beside myself. Here I am treating my mom and sister to what I thought was going to be a nice outing, and we're treated like the scum of the earth. The manager basically told us to get out, no he told us "Yes, I think you should leave". Its unfortunate because we always have good money to spend on a good lunch (not that I'm sure that's what they'd be serving there) and we will never return again. I have told all of my family, friends, clients to never go to this terrible little "restaurant" or what you might call it. If I could give it no star, that's what you'd be seeing here. Thanks for nothing.
Food is gross and over priced. Too bad as it has such a beautiful setting.
Three years ago we were married at Guisachan House Restaurant/Gardens. It was a beautiful ceremony and well organized because Georg helped us set it up. The ice sculpture was carved especially for us and included our names, while the cake received rave reviews from each guest. The same can be said for the meal, which suited everyones' tastes. We even saved the rest of the cake in the freezer and ate it a year later and it was just as delicious! The gorgeous setting and the friendly service made it an extra special day. The flowers in the garden, on the tables and in my bouquet were stunning and matched our colors perfectly. Today we had our anniversary lunch at the Restaurant and Georg's menu was a delight to choose from. Then he had us heading out the door with a bouquet of roses! He makes every experience special and memorable, whether it is your wedding or your anniversary.
I absolutely love the Guisachan House Restaurant. My husband and I had our wedding there back in 2009 and it was such a great experience. The wedding package was everything we wanted, practically everything was taken care of! It was such a stress reliever as I was working, in school and did not have any spare time to try and plan a wedding. We had our ceremony right there in the garden and it was beautiful! A great spot for photos! One of the things that was important to us was having great food with great poritons so that no one felt hungry. The food at the Guisachan House Restaurant is delicious! Everyone was very impressed with the food and no one left hungry! The cake is also part of the wedding package and was beautiful and tasted great as well! If you want a stress free wedding at a gorgeous location, this is the perfect place to come! The service can't be beat either! Georg really goes out of his way to give you the best wedding possible! Not only is it a great place for a wedding, but it's a great place to have lunch anytime! The food is great and the price is reasonable. The lunch specials are always a great value too as you get a soup or salad, the main entree and a dessert! The view is excellent as well, as you can look out into the garden as you eat; it's beautiful! I definitely recommend coming here for a great lunch! The creamy soups are my absolute favourites, and the house bread it comes with is so good! I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with the Guisachan House Restaurant and Georg! (Thanks Georg for everything; the wedding and making us feel great every time we come for lunch!)
The Guisachan House was the most amazing venue for our wedding! Georg and his team made us feel so welcomed and important on our big day! Georg took care of every detail and made the whole planning process SO stress-free! This venue took care of everything ; from the beautiful gardens, to the decor, the flowers, the food, the CAKE! and the incredible ice sculpture, we could not have asked for a more perfect day! Thank you Georg and everyone at the Guisachan House, 10/10 would highly recommend to every newly engaged couple!!
We decided to have our wedding here before covid came around and had to reschedule our wedding 3 times. Georg (the venue owner and wedding planner) worked with us through everything, was so accommodating and was just amazing. He puts his heart and sole into this, and tries his best to make this day special. He didn’t miss a single touch and is really a jack of all trades. His staff and family are fantastic, food is amazing, the venue is beautiful (the getting ready room for the bridal party is stunning). I just can’t say enough positive things about this venue. We had the best night ever!
Let me start by saying that I do not often leave reviews, however, in this case I felt that I need to take the time to hail the George for being an incredible wedding planner and world class chef. My wife and I got married in October of 2015 and George took care of us every step of the way. He worked with us to bring us the best wedding experience we could imagine, and we certainly had some unconventional requests. The service was top notch and the food was delicious every time without fail! I also feel the need to thank the hostesses there who were always happy to see us and likewise saw to it that we were always looked after with the utmost care. I can't recommend George enough for your wedding, this guy will make sure you get everything you ask for, and more! The price tag may be a bit more than you would expect from other wedding venues, but the location, food, and service are all well worth it. 11/10 stars.
Great ambience but the food was not as well matched. The food is reasonable and affordably priced. Beautiful garden and views, friendly staff.
We had our wedding there and I couldn't have asked for a better place to have a wedding
What an incredible setting! And, a lovely place to meet friends.
This is such a beautiful place . The owner is amazing and my wife and I can not wait to have our wedding there . The care and support shown is incredible, the food is amazing and simply put, you will not find a better venue.
My wife and I love the Gushigan house, not only is it a great place to take in the garden, the food and service are wonderful. We were married there in 2003 and recently returned for our tenth anniversary. Georg is and has always been a gracious host. I highly recommend the Gushigan House if you are planning a wedding, Georg and his staff took care of everything for us, and made it a less stressful event. The food and cake were perfect, The venue is rustic, classy yet homey you cannot go wrong with having your wedding at the Gushigan house.
Can't say enough good about this venue. Beautiful heritage building and grounds, intimate location. My wife catered weddings here for years and had her heart set on it as the location for our wedding. Georg (owner), Laura, and the rest of the staff were nothing but exceptional through the entire process. Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and went off without a hitch, even though we were a little fussy and had a lot of our own personal details tacked on to the day; it really felt like everyone working that day went above and beyond
Just came back from my friends wedding! It was absolutely beautiful. Their gardens are gorgeous and the staff, super friendly. The food was delicious. A perfect evening.
My husband and I recently had our wedding at The Guisachan House Restaurant. The experience was aboslutely amazing. George is a great organizer, he helped when ever we needed it. The staff was friendly and gave great service. The ceremony was gorgeous, the garden was beautiful. This place does it all the set up, take down, flowers, music, cake, food etc. It made our day very stress free for us. The food is amazing, best four course meal. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a wedding venue. Thank you George and the Guisachan House for making our day special and helping us when ever we needed it.
Beautiful grounds, great atmosphere. Was with a group of 20 all where very disappointed with quality of food. Sole and rice mushy, quiche was the frozen kind you can purchase in any store had no cheese and came with frozen vegetables. That’s just a sample. Best part was deserts. Services was very good. Food very disappointing.
The tables and all decor were beautifully set for our wedding. The food was scrumptious and staff were very accommodating and friendly. My bridesmaids and I were able to prepare ourselves in a charming little room. We could not have asked for a more welcoming venue for our small group. Thank you Georg and staff!
I had my wedding at the Guisachan House last weekend and it was beyond. Georg and his staff were accommodating in every way. I called this the "all-inclusive" wedding because they do everything short of buying your dress and suit. They provide the flowers, seating, decorations, table settings, wedding cake, amazing four course dinner, huge ice sculpture with the package, and more. Not to mention, the grounds are divine for photos! Georg was awesome to work with, great humored, and very easy going. Granted, we did not have a lot of specifications as we wanted as little to plan as possible LOL! The price for the package was extremely reasonable offering two packages: for 50 or 100 guests. My new husband and I are very pleased with the entire experience, Georg helped make our wedding the most beautiful and memorable time for everyone involved. The only critique I might have is that the reception room is a bit small and sound system a bit quiet. We had 40 guests and we had no problem getting everyone in there, but I can imagine 100 would be a tight fit. If your wedding is not centralized around music and dancing, there is plenty of room to roam in the surrounding areas and for mingling. My heartfelt thank you to Guisachan House for creating the wedding of our dreams (and our budget!!) <3
Great food and service as always
A friend told me that he had a great lunch
My wife and I had our wedding reception at Guisachan House on August 28th 2015. We had such an amazing experience. Georg and his staff were so helpful and caring. They took care of all the "little details" Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be, plus more. The entire atmosphere is completely beautiful, indoors and outdoor. All of our guest were so impressed with the beautiful vintage look inside. Its also one of the most beautiful places to take pictures as the gardens are exquisite. Georg went above and beyond to accommodate my wife and I. We will be forever grateful. It was all a wonderful experience. I would recommend Guisachan House Restaurant to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with organized, caring staff, who go above and beyond to make your wedding day the best it can be.
Years ago I was at Guisachan House for my brother's wedding and it made for a lovely venue. I loved my experience with the gardens and the food. Today I went with my two friends for a lunch outing. The grounds are stunning so Curb Appeal is 5 star. I believe part of the problem was 1 waitress and 1 chef to serve 25 people. The lunch menu is extensive, if they had served a really good sandwich/soup, the waitress could have handled the lunch crowd. We waited half an hour for our water, we waited an hour for our soup and the main course presentation was dreadful. Once we tasted the food, two of us sent our meals back. The waitress was very gracious. I can not tell you how disappointed we all were...I had such great expectations.
Delightful little restaurant with big portions of yummy food! The gardens are breath taking and well kept given the amount of blooms and wildlife that live there! Enjoyed my time here and will return!
Tasty lunch with great friendly service.
Everything about Guisachan House as a wedding venue is absolutely perfect! From the beautiful scenic gardens, to the friendly staff, to the amazing food, Guisachan House far surpasses any other! The owner Georg is wonderful to work with and will ensure every detail is taken care of. The food is amazing and the staff were very attentive and never left a wine glass less than half full! Thank you, Georg, Ramona and all your staff for making our special day amazing!
The food and the service were both excellent
Atmosphere was awesome, food was fine, but slow service in a quiet restaurant.
Beautiful gardens! A small piece of heaven in a busy area of town. A hidden gem
First off, very nice place with a great feel. Rustic and easy, the whole area screams history and it's fun. The food was a good deal at $16.00 for all lunch meals, which came with starter soup or salad and dessert. Our server was horrible which is the result of this review. Slow. Got our easy order wrong. Forgot things including wine. Then came with a glass of the wrong wine when we ordered a bottle. She was very rude and abrupt when asked for water. It was just a very bad experience and a bad experience. The worst part for us was we were with some very prominent people trying to show them Kelowna best. This place is a disaster with staffing from our experience. I believe the waitresses name was Heather but can't remember, honestly trying to forget the whole experience.
Intimate wedding venue, my wife and I return annually, food is mostly perfect, reasonable Covid-19 precautions.
Beautiful gardens, delicious food!
