Beautiful land
great experience, fantastic views and visit to spirit island on the 1.5 hr cruise.
Can’t say how much we enjoyed the cruise. The scenery left us gasping at every new sight. The cruise was made even better by having our guide Bea and captain Kelly there making our experience even better. Thanks to both of you for helping make our day and Maligne Lake cruise an amazing experience. Side note to Bea’s mom….she’s doing a great job!!!
The cruise itself is not bad, you get to see beautiful sceneries, which otherwise you can see driving through Jasper National Park towards Columbia Icefields. But this whole cruise is worth only if you want to take the picture of the lake and the Spirit Island where they take you. The reason I rated it 3 is because of the price of the trip, which is $87 for an adult! The realistic price is about $30. Customer service was excellent.
We had a really amazing experience. Becca was our giggly captain and Kessia was our super knowledgeable tour guide. Together they made the experience really fun and enjoyable. The trip was well worth it. We got to see the Lake from a completely unique standpoint, and the views of Spirit Island at the end were breathtaking and well worth the ride.
Great views on the tour
Jasper , signature spot , spirit island
The crew was excellent on this cruise. Very informative. Definitely worth the trip
Superb and astonishing.
Great little hidden gem in the Canadian Rockies. We did the cruise to Spirt Island and back. Absolutely stunning views of the rockies and lake.
Didn't take cruise just walked trails. Far tooo many people here for our liking
This is an amazing experience! My sailing was canceled due to fog, but staff quickly rebooked me for a convenient time. The boat was comfortable and I really enjoyed the back deck. The guide (Sarah) was very engaging and informative, and I espcially liked the information on the local Indigenous people that she provided. The views were spectacular, and the Spirit Island area where the cruise stopped was perfect for photos.
Meg, Jen and Sarah were very friendly and enjoyable tour operators. Great boat ride and manage to spot a mother moose and her calf along the way. Highly recommend! Make sure to book in advance.
Beautiful! We can’t wait to go back!
Loved everything about this cruise! The tour guides (Elliott and Jenn) were incredible and funny and knowledgeable! it was the perfect day for the tour and I'm super glad we did it. I learned so much and saw the most incredible natural wonders. thank you!
Had an amazing time, very beautiful view. The time allowed on the island is quite short. 20-25 minutes would be better. But still great. Alexis is very knowledgeable and the boat driver Jordan is quite nice too.
The best way to spend our day in a heat wave. Great tour, really brings the surrounding area to life. Really enjoyed our quick dip in the lake when we docked near spirit island. Lauren, Kelly and Claire you're awesome, thank you for everything!
These tours are not environmentally friendly. The experience of cruising through the lake when compared to the damage caused to the climate by running these cruises multiple times a day is just not worth it. Pursuit, the company that owns this business, is just in the pursuit of making profits at the cost of our environment.
It was amazing experience, had a wonderful time with captain Lauren and Nat. They were very informative. Learned alot about the place, would definitely come back again
A must do experience in Jasper and a great way to see and learn about one of the most beautiful places on earth. The crew was nice, informative and funny and the boat was comfy too with room to stand outside if you wanted. I highly recommend!
I was lucky enough to get to sail on the Curly Phillips. Captain Jen was a great skipper and her crew Jason did a great job keeping us informed and entertained. The views are of course the main attraction. There are two tours so make sure you inquire about which you want to take. I highly recommend this cruise.
The Maligne Lake cruise was the best part of our visit to Jasper! Totally worth it! And big thanks to our tour guide Nat (she’s pure joy) and captain Meg????
Becca was the best tour guide I could have asked for! Her tour was educational and full of light hearted jokes that made me chuckle more than a few times. The views are absolutely breathtaking and when paired with the warmth and charisma of a tour guide like Becca, booking this tour should be a no brainer for anyone visiting Maligne Lake.
Best place to visit on summer
Nice, pleasant cruise. Valerie tour guide, Sara boat captain and Bee crew member made this boat tour a beautiful and relaxing time spent.
Boat ride was great except the views. Heavy smoke in the area spoiled the scenic views. Hope they lower the price due to this.
My wife and I participated in the Maligne Lake Cruisers in September. It was well worth the money and we had a fantastic day. The guides were very funny and very knowledgable and we would definitely recommend this tour to anyone in the Jasper area.
Really loved the lake cruise experience. The cruise was comfortable and the tour guide friendly and informative. It's a really beautiful lake and Spirit Island is a must visit. Unforgettable. Tip: the toilets in the gift shop is much nicer than the ones in the car park (really nasty)
The Captains and the ride were great! The historic lake is a journey through time.
Excellent experience. Guides were kind and knowledgeable and very willing to help answer questions. Check in process as clean and smooth. COVID planning was good as well. Everyone was safely spaced on the boat which made the tour even more enjoyable as there was lots of extra room and no shared searing. The stop at Spirit Island was a highlight and a great photo op, with a short board walk. 3 young kids loved the boat ride and the little hike at the end to find minnows in the lake. The drive in to the lake from Jasper was great as well. Recommend this.
My family and I decided to go on vacation from Ontario to Alberta & British Columbia we booked the Maligne Lake Cruise and it truly is a great experience I loved it lots and so did my family!! The views were incredible, the boat was clean and organized and Captain Natalie (Nat) + Tour Guide Lauren were kind, and very funny! I really recommend the cruise I absolutely loved it! The staff is wonderful, the views are phenomenal and everything is so organized and clean. Highly recommend booking the Maligne Lake Cruise!!
Great job to Maddie and Claire! Very professional.
It was a rainy day but had a great laugh with Françoise the tour guide! And also got a complimentary coffee!
The cruise was worthwhile. The cruise was about 1.5 hrs long and all staffs were quite friendly. The ship took us from the starting point to spirit Island and let us to get off for 15 minutes and enjoy the nature. It was a bit gloomy day but still we had a niece view of mountain ranges . The guide was quite knowledgeable and kept informing us about the surrounding. Most interesting thing was , they allowed us to be on the back deck of ship and enjoy the waves ???? and take pictures and videos while ship was running. It was of great fun activity to the whole family . I certainly recommend to do this if you have time.
Maligne Lake Cruise, it’s a journey of lifetime, First you will discover the amazing natural mountains in between all that there is the Spirit Island which is a place has never been touched by human and it’s only you can reach there by a boat or cruise the viewsIn there it’s a breathtaking I highly recommend this area for families and friends and kids as well
What a wonderful ride! I had heard wonders about this boat tour and we spontaneously decided to purchase tickets once we were at the lake. Best idea ever. The girls are amazing and they make everything so much fun, the ride is nothing but gorgeous and this lake is just stunning. The stop on Spirit Island is the cherry on top of everything. Krystal and Abigail were nothing but the best crew we could have had and they sounded like old friends. We loved it, couldn’t recommend more! Went on late August so it was still nice weather.
A must when in Jasper. Appreciate the boat waiting for us late folks. Good commentary and beautifull sights. Short 1.5hr cruise is sufficient as still get to get off to take pics of Spirit Island.
Beautiful place in Jasper. Had a great boat ride, area has hood washroom facilities too
Maybe the most stunningly beautiful place I've ever seen. Almost spiritual.
Spectacular views and totally worth the long drive. You must take the cruise to enjoy the best views. There are couple more stops on the way there. Highly recommend to take this cruise.
Did a tour with Meg and Nat. Meg was a great captain and Nat did an exceptional job guiding the tour. To Nat's mom, who apparently reads every review: Nat did fantastic, you should be proud of her.
Was really good. Our guide name was Liam and he was funny and knowledgeable
Excellent cruise! Gorgeous views of Maligne Lake and surrounding mountains and glaciers. Liam and Arielle made the whole experience smooth and informative and really fun! The extra time at Spirit Island is worth the premium cruise add on.
It was a great experience for the while family.Amelia, the tour guide was knowledgeable and great in keeping us in tune of the nature and the trip. Capt. Courtney was nice and professional, making sure we are all safe on this trip. A little pricey but worth it.Thank you for this wonderful experience.
Once in a life time opportunity. DO THIS PLEASE DO IT YOU'LL THANK ME LATER
If you get the chance to visit this beautiful lake make sure you do the Maligne lake cruise. IT IS 1000000000000x worth it. seeing the spirit island with the Queen Elizabeth ranges peaking behind is simply breath taking.
Very knowledgeable guide. I don't remember her name, but she is from Edmonton.
What an epic experience. This is something you must do when you visit Jasper.
We certainly enjoyed the tour to spirit island. The guides were funny, friendly and informative and the views were stunning! However, in our opinion it is overpriced.
Thanks to Steph and Flo who made this boat cruise a great experience. The historical and area information was much appreciated. The 15 minute stop at Spirit Island was awe inspiring. Great job to all.
Great experience. Definitely recommend taking the cruise, rain or shine (I went in the rain). Cas and Mel were our captain and tour guides, and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. Learned a lot, and the views were amazing of course
Very fun and educational cruise! Jared and Captain B. were fantastic. I especially appreciated how Jared educated us about the Stoney People. He covered a tough historical topic very respectfully. Worth the money, would definitely recommend!
It was one of a kind experience staff was very good Abigail ane Jared were great. Views were astonishing, peaceful place, with wild and good vibes. Worth visiting the place.
Captain Lauren and tour guide Kessia were great! Tour was very informative and well organized. Highly recommend!
Only wish they could have bigger cruising boat.
We had a great cruise with Meg and Jenn. Jenn was full of knowledge about the surrounding mountains and scenery. Smooth ride to spirit island. Gorgeous place and definitely a must see! Covid regulations were followed and boat was half capacity to account for distancing. Very enjoyable. Thanks!
An amazing trip. Our guide Val and the captain Emily made this trip an unforgettable experience. They are funny and knowledgeable and it was a pleasure. Highly recommend.
An amazing day on the lake with Maligne Lake Cruise. The best part of the day was the captain Alexis and her first mate, Sam who guided us through a history of the amazing Vistas. Their dedication to the area and their company was refreshing. Their positive attitude and easy smile made this our best day in Jasper. Thank you.
The boat tour to Spirit Island was one the highlights of my visit to Banff/Jasper. The tour guide BECCA and Capt Courtney did a great job making the tour informative and entertaining! At $77 a person it wasn't the cheapest but well worth the 90 minute experience. Would recommend 10/10.
Do not miss this if your here
Abigail and Claire were experienced Captain and guide on the tour, sharing lots of rich history of the Stoney Nation indigenous people. Smart, gracious, and fun! The tour was well worth the time and money. Thank you so much ladies!
Very nice and knowledgeable captains Jerrod and Mandy? Highly recommend. 2 very enjoyable hours on nice boat.
Jordan and Lauren were awesome, funny and made a great set of tour guides. Loved the ride the history and the sights it was amazing! In particular the "Throne of the Gods" was incredible ????
I've done both Maligne and Minnewanka cruises operated by Pursuit but loved this one even more. Because of Spirit island. ????
Not bad. Not amazing. No cell service at the lake. Bought tickets online and had the ticket booth print them. No problem.
That was amazing, NAT is so beautiful and very caretaker, I like her way to discrib about Rockies and avalanches. She tells us about her mother is well. Anyway tour was amazing.
The cruise was amazing. The view and the beauty at spirit island is worth paying for. Captain Liam and tour guide Lawren were nice, kind and polite
Great tour and super well organized. Nat and Captain B did an awesome job. Will definitely recommend my friends to come!
Our group had a great time on the lake cruise, Nat was a fantastic guide. I wish we had just a few more minutes at Spirit Island to soak up the breathtaking view.
My family and I booked this as part of the Banff explorer package (Banff gondola, Columbia Icefield adventure, Maligne or Minnetonka Lake Cruise). Based on reviews, we chose the Maligne lake cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The views were extremely stunning (specifically Hall of the Gods) and the stopover at the island is lovely for great pictures and to explore a little bit. You can also get the perfect iconic Spirit Island picture from the island. Cam and Liam were our tour guides and they were fantastic and provided great info and made it a fun experience. Highly recommended.
Had great experience
I had an amazing time on the on the Maligne Lake cruise(Aug 2021) Our driver Val and the tour guide ( I am so sorry I cannot remember her name, but she was a young recent grad from Ontario). Even though it was cloudy the day we went with no mountains in sight the boat ride was lots of fun. Seeing spirit island was also very nice it's beautiful and very serene. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the island and history of the area. Highly recommend this tour as part of the persuit bundle, it was worth the drive up from Banff!
We booked a cruise for my family of 4 a few days before we left from Calgary to Jasper, booking was so easy and quick, when we got to the cruise site I forgot to download my tickets but the staff at the ticket counter was so helpful and got us the tickets printed in no time. Then we boarded the boat, even though it was raining but we had a really enjoyable trip, thanks to captain Becca and her fabulous assistant ( Flow) they were awesome staff, they made the trip very informative and fun, we had great time and I thank them very much and I will absolutely recommend this experience to friends. Oh and I forgot to mention that the waffle at the boat house was soooo tasty
It was a decent cruise but the 15 minutes you get to walk around spirit island is far from enough time in mu opinion.
Ultimate experience, guide Aubrey Gill and captain cam was nice people.
Great cruise! The views are great and our boat crew, Sarah and Kessia, were both amazing.
Wow. An absolutely stunning experience. This was an incredible opportunity to experience the true essence of the Rocky Mountains. We loved it from start to finish. Mark was a fabulous host and speaker. I'm sure he's done the same talk a million times, but his enthusiasm and energy was fabulous. A perfect mix of fun and informative. Nick was our captain and he took great care of us. I have recommended this tour to everyone I've spoken with since.
Great cruise with amazing views, very friendly staff (Cpt Nat and Claire!) be sure to book on a sunny day to enjoy the view. Recommend staying after for a 5@7 by the lake????
Soo cool
It was awesome. Your guides(Casia & Becca) were great and excellent. They had smile on their face throughout.
Definitely recommend going on this cruise while checking out Jasper. It's soooooo beautiful. We did the 9am cruise with our girls and they loved it! It was soo nice this morning. Cam our captain and Meg our tour guide was amazing and loved her stories. It's a must do while your in the area!
We did a beautiful cruise even if it was raining ! Such a Nice experience.
Loved this cruise. For anyone visiting Banff, the drive to Jasper to do this cruise alone is worth it. The view at Spirit Island is breathtaking. It will forever be one of the most special places I have ever visited. The only thing I would change is the amount of time given at the island. The cruise is 1.5 hours. Once you dock, you only have 15min until heading back, which is definitely not enough time to take it all in. The price is steep for the amount of time you get at the island, as over a hour of cruise is spent on the boat itself. They do have a extend version of the cruise for $110 per person, which is an additional 30min long. The staff was great, and did a really good job making sure everyone on the boat was social distancing due to covid.
A wonderful experience with amazing views and a great guide! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Jasper
The Maligne Lake cruise was a great way to experience the lake and see Spirit Island. Our guide (Kelly) was a wealth of information and the boat captain had a steady hand at the wheel. Both made the experience safe and enjoyable.
It was amazing experience. Wonderful place. Incredible staff. Please with all high price tickets spend couple dollars to buy a Canadian flag for the cruises. Doesn't looks nice.
Such a beautiful experience! Loved hearing about the geography and history about the lake from our tour guide Abba Gayle. Captain Chrystal was fantastic!
Simply marvelous Great host Great views Informative Value for money
Great experience with knowledgeable staff.
We very much enjoyed our boat tour to Spirit Island. The boat driver was very friendly. Our guide was also nice and had excellent knowledge of the area but also told too many dad jokes lol. The boat was comfortable and clean. But beyond all that, the lake and surrounding mountains and glaciers are stunning and well worth the trip. We would absolutely go again and recommend it to others.
What a special place, loved the shots of the boar dock. Spirit Island is a given! Go in the evening.
Day in Jasper - Maligne Lake And Maligne Canyon.
Worth the trip. Bucketlist photos. Amazing place.
Staff are amazing and full of information
Captain Arielle and Tour guide Allie was super funny, cheerful and a overall delight! The guided trip on the way to Spirit island was filled with fun facts! I had the absolute pleasure of sitting at the front and listening to the fun stories of how Maligne lake was found! Once there, the view was breath taking (my pictures taken below) ! Thank you Arielle and Allie for making this a wonderful experience!
This was such a fun experience and the tour girls made it very fun! The water is breathtaking and we even got to see a moose!
It is a beautiful place but the trip out to Spirit island and back was uneventful. We only spent 10 mins there because there was a bear and we had to stay on the doc. It was too pricey for what it was. Cam and Sarah were a good team and had some interesting facts but there were rowdy teenagers behind me screaming and pushing on my chair even after I asked them to stop. I wish there was more attention to that so that I could hear and enjoy the cruise.
Totally worth to go! Little bit of knowledge, little bit of fun and whole bunch of views. Abigail and Jordan was a great team on the boat. Both of them make you feel safe on the trip and entertain. Jordan's knowledge is amazing. We took 1.5 hr trip with 15min stay to see the Spirit Island. Great experience.
This was an amazing experience and highly recommended. You can stop at Maligne Canyon before or after here for an extra 1-1.5 hour adventure. The cruise is fantastic, the guides are informative, helpful, and you can stand at the back of the boat while it is moving. The scenery is just like out of a postcard. We were lucky to have beautiful blue skies and sunny to boot! The island is stunning, they offer 2 courses, one standard with 15 minutes on the island and a premium that allows 30 minutes on the island. We did the premium which was the best route, 30 minutes goes quick. There is a limited zone people are allowed to roam the island and minimum people allowed. A big hand to Nat & Krystal, our captain and guide--thanks from Ontario!
Megan and Liam did a fantastic job on the cruise today. Despite the smokey weather, Megan was able to discuss many historical information while honoring old and new information on aboriginal culture! She was very knowledgeable and knew how to direct the crowd. Liam was an expert at driving the boat and made sure not to rock the boat at all. He was polite and respectful of other people on the water (motorboat and people on the canoes) and the water traffic. Highly recommend! PS, please be advised and NOT do the package deal which includes lunch at The View Restaurant. It was horrible, save your money and eat back in town or pack a lunch and have a picnic.
This was such a great tour and so worth it! I'm usually very skeptical about tours on super touristy locations but this tour was great! Our tour guide Kelly and Captain Steph were so friendly and knowledgeable! They were generous with their time to answer questions and provided some great history into Spirit Island/Sacred Place and I felt a sense of assurance that the people who work here really were taking the time to educate visitors and work with the Indigenous groups to continue healing the land. The cruise is fantastic honestly so go check it out!!!
Fun sail in Maligne Lake out to Spirit z Island. Beautiful views along the way.
Meg was a great guide, she was funny and knowledgeable. The boats are comfy.
Just before sunset was the most enthralling time for our family to enjoy this lake cruise.
The crew was really nice but it’s really too expensive for the activity… only 15 min on spirit island, just the time to take few pictures and it’s already time to go back. During the way, if you’re not lucky and get the middle seat, you can’t see clearly outside. I recommend to rent a kayak or canoe for the day to have the time to discover this beautiful lake, not this cruise. But I say again : the staff is really amazing, fortunately.
Claire and Nat were great. Claire gave a good explanation of the indigenous peoples history of the area instead of just the European settlers like so many other sources do.
Gnat did an excellent job narrating the adventure. Very corny jokes, but it was great! Clare did great driving the boat too!
Awesome adventure
Great Maligne Lake cruise, highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience this lake. Our guides, Emilia and Marc were excellent and made for a terrific day!!
Book in advance and you will have a smooth check-in process. We booked the "Through the Lens" photography cruise and it was worth the higher price! We had the lake all to ourselves with extra time on Spirit Island as a small group. It was so peaceful and serene. Highly recommend!
Love it... Great crew members.
It was stunning. Due to the wild fire ???? it was not clear to see but you can only imagine how stunning it is.
This was my first experience at Maligne Lake Cruise and loved it. I am glad i visited there snd it is a must watch. Captain Maddy and Flo were super friendly and shared their experience. I took 1.5 hours at the cruise and that was worth the time. I would surely visit it again.
Nice illustration, and safe trip Sadly it was a rainy when we got on the ship.
Lauren Captain for Lisa L. Boat, and guided tour Liam did a really great job of keeping everyone safe. Very informative about the Canadian Rockies. I’d highly suggest that local Canadians should really see this hidden Jem.
Took the cruise last week and it was fabulous! Our guide Crystal was informative and humorous (Crystal’s Mom, if you’re reading this, your daughter was a great guide!)! Cruise was smooth, scenic, with beautiful mountain views, and stopped at the island for about 15 minutes before we had to return. 8 people were allowed to stand on the back of the boat and it made for stunning photos! Definitely recommend!
Nice staff Megan and Jonathan knew their store.A little bit overprice but in the morning its perfect
The cruise wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The tour guide was okay and the park ranger tried to answer questions. I think it was more just the group we were with that didn't make the experience very enjoyable. The location you go to is amazing and beautiful - honestly it's breathtaking. It was a late start and very cold so be prepared for some delays potentially. The boat was really nice and the ride wasn't bad at all. I just don't know if I would pay money to do this type of tourist thing again.
Beautiful cafe by the lake with stunning views. The cruise is supposed to be amazing too.
Unbelievably beautiful. Wonderful captain and tour guide. Kids might find it too tame but it is a great way to connect with nature from the comfort of a boat.
Had our cruise this morning at 9:15am and it was MAGICAL! Loved our guides Sarah & Flo. They were super kind, professional, and knowledgable. Cruise was right on time with no delay. It was such a beautiful experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who visits Jasper! Spirit Island in Maligne Lake is a sight you don't want to miss ???? the morning boarding time was perfect because we got to see the misty lake early in the morning and enjoy the sun in the late morning.
Loved it. It was amazing experience to enjoy nature. The view of mountains, glaciers, pine trees and beautiful waters is breathtaking. Totally recommend.
This was by far my favorite part of my Banff/Jasper experience and it’s honestly the most beautiful place I have ever been to. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone!
Huge shoutout to Maddy and our captain Clair for the amazing ride and trip to the sacred island and giving us the knowledge and history of the area and all the mountains ????! It was a whole experience and definitely something I will remember! I only have videos of the cruise! But do enjoy it when you are there! Worth the money! All staff is friendly.
Amazing. Boat ride is really nice. If the weather is with you. Amazing spot to take pictures. Must do if y are in Jasper.
Our captain and guide, Claire and Nat, helped make a fantastic experience even better.
These guys had 3 boats staying empty but told us they were fully booked for the day. Oh well, just saved $200 I guess.
Stunning views, very worth it ???? Kudos to our very accommodating and amazing tour guide Abigale and our Captain B. Thumbs up ????????????
Kessia and Sam were a pleasure to be with on our trip :) They were very informative, and helped us appreciate the rockies even more.
It was a beautiful family experience! We would like to thank Captain Emily and tour guide Nat, Emily and Nat, Nat and Emily for making the trip very educational, informative, safe, and comfortable. Truly you guys are awesome in what you do. You are the best! I would encourage everyone to try and explore this wonderful adventure.
Beautiful and picturesque. Our guides Elliot and captain Annabelle were humourous and informative. Great way to spend a rainy day even
Absolutely breathtaking views. Our guide Alexis was super friendly and very knowledgable. Luis, the driver, was also very helpful and both of them are wonderful at their jobs. They had answers to every question we had and helped create a memorable experience! Kudos to them and to the team behind the cruises. I would go back for sure and recommend it to anyone who has the chance to see the natural beauty and serenity at Spirit Island and Maligne Lake.
Friendly staff and an amazing and knowledgeable crew. The whole experience perfectly complemented the breathtaking scenery. Would definitely recommend.
Best nature view
If you want to go on a lake cruise in Banff-Jasper, it has to be this! The views are just serene and jaw dropping!
Very very beautiful
I had an amazing time on the boat and enjoyed the stopover by Spirit Island as well! Kessia and Liam did a great job navigating and providing insights into the surrounding areas. I highly recommend this cruise (even more so when the weather is warm and sunny) - the views are stunning.
Fantastic cruise around a gorgeous lake. The visit to spirit Island was spectacular. Matt and Captain Clair were azing host and lovely tour guides.
Travelling towards Maligne Lake was exiting. Staff in Lake were tremendous! We had a little snack at restaurant- taste of food was unique. Staff (Jack & Anish) gave us a great hospitality at restaurant. Later, crew members in cruise- Amelia ( informative & great spontaneity) , Captain Jordan was amazing & Bea ( Saftey instructor & joyful person) these 3- people made our cruise trip amazing. Specially Amelia had a great generosity & thoughtfulness. Our photo session was great because of these folks! Had a great experience.
Although we visited Jasper National Park including Maligne Lake many times but this was our first trip on the cruise. The cruise was operated very professionally maintaining all COVID protocol including cleaning of the seats, availability of hand sanitizer, maintaining social distance. The staff were very efficient for the most part. We took the 50 minute cruise. So, we couldn't stay longer at Spirit Island. After making the booking, we had decided to switch to the longer tour but were not able to make the change on their website which was a little frustrating.
Enjoy the serene views ot Maligned lake and spirit island by hopping on to the cruise. The view are amazing amazing and thanks to our tour guides Steph and Sam for making this whole trip to interactive. Top of the world tour guides I would say. The reason I took one star is because I believe the cruise should have a washroom facility and another reason that when I booked my package along with gondola and icefield, the option to book two hours cruise was not even shown.
Luis and Sam were awesome!! The tour was really good and informative and Luis managed to answer all of our questions except one that he promised to look up. The time at spirit island is short but the feeling you get when you put the camera down and take in the spirit of the island and the mountains is unreal. Thanks for the great work guys!!
Quite unhappy with the COVID-19 safety protocols on board. I understand the premier of Alberta has lifted restrictions, but companies can still choose to implement certain protocols, especially in busy, touristy areas. Masks were not mandatory, there was no social distancing, and very little outdoor space on the boat, so you're in an enclosed space with little air flow for the majority of the trip. If Maligne Lake Cruise doesn't want to ask guests to wear masks, then they should really be operating at partial capacity to allow for social distancing. We ended up feeling quite uncomfortable for most of the trip, due to the maskless people around us and how closely we were all packed in.
Fantastic tour
The boat Cruise was excellent, made amazing by the wonderful cruise Captain Sam and his First Lady Meg (Margaret) Meg was offering fountains of knowledge educating us along the way...but best of all they both entertained us, some good laughs!! You made it that much more ...then it was. Keep up the great job!!! ????
While the beautiful Spirit Island is a the highlight of the cruise, I found, Pursuit, the company running the tour quite irresponsible. For instance the cruise was full of people during times of COVID. Every single seat row of the cruise was full. Staff asked to leave the front seats empty to allow for distance for the crew but they didn’t care about the other 50 people in the cruise being cozy as canned fish. The boat had windows but they were closed during the 90-minute tour. I was also surprised when the guide ‘explained’ when looking that the dying pine trees on what side of the lake, were a sign of a healthy forest and that the green pine trees on the other side of the lake was a sign oh an unhealthy forest. Who did she take us for? She said also that the pinetree beetle is a blessing that keeps the growth of pine trees on check, not an ecological disaster. I feel that Parks Canada could make a better job at checking how the authorized profitable businesses using the natural beauty of Jasper and Banff use their polluting vehicles and how they ‘educate’ tourists.
Beautiful cruise with an excellent guide and boat captain!
AMAZING!! Nat and Sam were such a delight to be on the cruise with. They were both very knowledgeable of the area and were able to give us a lot of history and fun facts. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and was the highlight of our trip to jasper.
The cruise down Maligne Lake was undoubtedly the high point of our short vacation in September 2020. Armed with a fleet of well maintained boats, well trained and knowledgeable staff - the short cruise generated a life time of pleasant memories. The clear turquoise water of the lake flanked by the Canadian Rockies from all directions was a sight to behold. The cruise took us to a small island for a short 15 minute trek.
The crew were entertaining and informative. Would definitely go again the views were amazing!
Friendly captain Ariel and informative guide, Liam. Both truely care about what they do and respect the environment they work in.
What a wonderful experience! Ashley and Alexis are both knowledgeable, kind and truly good at their job. They are the reason this cruise was worth it and we were lucky to have them onboard. We learned a lot about the region, they answered many questions and made this experience so much better! Thank you both for being so great and leaving an amazing impression on us.
Thank you to Valerie and Sam for the tour. You guys are awesome! We look forward to another adventure at Maligne Lake Tour next time.
The boat is comfortable, the young crew made of Meghan the boat guide and Patrick the captain, are both nice and courteous. Meghan communicate clearly and she was very easy to understand. Patrick made the boat trip to Spirit Island very memorable. The scenic beauty of the island is unexplainable. Simply majestic!
It was great to be out on Maligne Lake and see the views. Spirit Island was beautiful. Worth it to book the cruise. it was about an hour and a half in total
Great team !!! Great view
A beautiful place to take a boat ride too, unless you want to paddle 14 km in a canoe. What made this boat ride even more special was the crew Ashley our guide and Courtney our captain! Ashley is the greatest guide, funny and pleasant, she made our day!
It was an amazing experience. Captain Allie & tour guide Emily were awesome.
Love this tour. We were guided by Becca & Meg. For those who cannot kayak or canoe this is thr best way to explore the massive lake . We visited the Spirit island. They allowed us to explore for about 15 mts. Guides were fun and informative.
Maligne lake cruise was great but unfortunately mother nature didn't cooperate today as the rain and snow made the view a lot less ideal than it could be. Spirit Island was great and the tour guide, Mat was excellent in describing the history, including from the perspective of the first nations peoples.
Expensive for the time spend on spirit island... and when you seat at the middle of the boat the view is really bad
Didn't go on a cruise but did a hike through there very beautiful
It was a nice boat ride, but it felt too rushed
Went to the longer cruise. Amazing place, must visit!
I didn't go on the cruise but the rest of the lake was fantastic and I rented a canoe and it was nice too
Spectacular views and a great time! Our crew mates Lauren and Bea were the best around!
Didn't take the cruise, but area is beautiful. There is a small bar that is kind of hidden at the back of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is kinda of hidden, and confusing to find. We ended up eating at the cafeteria-type area. Had Poutine Wedges and Wild Game Chilli and Cheese Wedges. We weren't overly impressed with our meals. The wedges ruined the meals. Fries would have been better. I like wedges but these weren't very good. Didn't have time to take the cruise, but we will the next time. I believe the cost is $80/Adult, and it lasts 1.5hrs.
Breathtaking view! Very Friendly Staff...
We took a Cruise with our Guide CAM & Caption ALEXA. Both were really good and nice to us. CAM was Very informative and Alexa was perfect caption to drive Cruise. Defenatly want to go again with them.
Had a wonderful time! Krystal was a fantastic captain, and Lauren was an excellent guide, full of knowledge and humour!
Book the Maligne Lake Cruise about 2 weeks prior, and went for it in early June. Bought it as part of the package which included the Columbia Icefield and skywalk. The lake cruise was fantastic. It snowed a little that day so please check the weather forecast and be attired properly. Would suggest bringing an extra wind breaker. The boarding area was at the docks. It took us about 30 minutes to get to Spirit Island and our tour guide was amazing. She provided all the facts and history of the area. Would suggest staying in the cabin to listen to the facts on the way to Spirit Island. There’s lots of opportunities to take photos on the way back from Spirit Island at the back of the boat. When we reached Spirit Island, we were allowed 30 minutes to enjoy the view. It should be sufficient. Though the boat was packed, the tour didn’t felt rush or crowded.
Worth the money! 100% recommend
Captain B and tour guide Lauren are beautiful, fabulous knowledgeable and funny. The view of course are next to none.
Spectacular views and amazing crew. Lauren (tour guide) kept us entertained with information, history, and geography facts, all with a bit of a comedic spin. Crystal (captian) was a pro at navigating the lake and ensuring other boaters were safe. The views were absolutely fantastic from the shore to Spirit Island, views that you can't find anywhere else.
Shout out to Becca&Flo and Louise&mark for the boat tours and a good bloke matt in the boat house for setting people up with with their canoes and kayaks! All staff made this experience memorable.
Fun ride, amazing views and great history lesson along the way. They alow people to be on the back deck while on the lake it's great. Our captain abaquael and guide Matty were very friendly and happy to be there.
Cruise was fun! Social distancing in place and great crew Brittany and Jordan! Wish we got to stay abit longer on Spirit Island but other than that great tour!
One of the most scenic cruise. Highly recommended for those looking for pure beauty & natural surroundings. Our host & captain the Meg duo were fabulous. Thank you guys for such a wonderful experience. Will surely return back.
We had an amazing experience with Maligne lake cruise. Our guide Matt was knowledgeable and fun. She told us a lot about the history of Maligne lake and Spirit island. The weather was great on that day and we could see all mountains clearly. I highly recommend to everyone.
Fantastic boat cruise full of great memories! Thanks Jordan and Sarah for the outstanding guided tour!
A belated review from Sept 2015. A popular photo magazine featured a lake, mountain, sky landscape that was to die for. This is the shot. The photographer wrote in his article how he kayaked for 3-4 hours to get to Spirit Island (This place). He did not mention you can pay to have a powerful motorized passenger boat cruise up there in 40 minutes. Spectacular view, fragrance and lake experience.
The view should be beautiful, but I got lousy luck to join the tour while raining. Everything looks foggy.
Absolutely phenomenal day, Abigail and Claire were great hosts and were so enthusiastic throughout the whole trip. Claire had so much information on the history of the lake and the sacred indigenous land it was so interesting to learn. One of the best activities I have done in jasper! If I could give them 10 stars I would
cool water
Amazing! Great staff, very informative, friendly and funny! The tour guide we had. Alexis, was super friendly and bubbly. Would recommend anyone to make the drive up to maligne lake. 100% worth it. Also, the picture with spirit island shows a circle in the cloud clearing with the sun shining onto spirit island. Very magical!
Wow I can’t think of many other words to describe this tour the view is amazing spirit island is a dream and the history is out of a book Kassia and Meg were our tour guides and hats off to them Kassia was amazing and they both made such an effort to be so personable with every body on board we couldn’t be happier that we chose this tour for our family trip to jasper! Hats off to Kassia and Meg and the Maligne lake cruise!
Had fantastic experience with my family at the cruise. The guide Nat and captain Ashley were super professional and made us feel safe and entertained throughout the trip. Weather was good so that is always a good thing. Spectacular views and plenty of time to take pictures. Everyone had good time on the boat.
Worth doing, captain and tour guides took us through Maligne Lake to Spirit Island and back. Tons of history, geography and humour!
Great trip out on the lake. Would highly recommend. Was a really fun trip and our guide Jordan and captain Alexis were great!
Had a wonderful time. Guide was kind and gave valuable information. Would like to have more time in spirit Island
Amazing. Krystal and Ali were great hosts. Beautiful sights!
So glad we did this tour - the scenery is stunning, you see areas of the lake you wouldn't easily by foot, the guided tour is really interesting, and the time at the spirit island is really special. I would recommend buying tickets in advance so you get the time you want, and queuing earlier than your scheduled time so you get a good seat on the boat. If you like photography I would also opt for the premium tour so you get longer at spirit island.
Tour Guides Fantastic ,Boat ride was even good But what you guys pull off in the Food Services side is Criminal !! Boiled wieners and terrible Prices Remember "Your Catering to Canadians this Year Not Foreign Tourists"!!! Cmon be better, Lar . Not recommending Dining at All.
Loved the cruise. Our tour guide Cam and captain Emily were both friendly and super knowledgeable. Love the tidbits we were told on the cruise and Cam was knowledgeable enough to answer all the questions passengers had and of course the humour was a bonus. The scenery was beautiful and spirit island lives up to its name. Would def recommend
If you visit Jasper, the cruise on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island is a must! Guide Alexis and Captain Mark on the Samson Beaver were cheerful and informative. Highly recommend!!
The cruise was totally worth it!! Definitely a must do while in jasper
Highly recommended ! That boat cruise is a must if you're visiting Jasper ! You get amazing views and the stuff are really friendly and fun, I remember Jordan, he was our guide and the captain was Rebecca if I remember correctly, they both deserve 10/10. Keep up the good work guys !
We've had a great experience tour with amazing crew that take us over the mountains and to spirit island, Lauren and Clare was soo nice with all passengers and she was able to answer all questions related to the lake and mountains ⛰ From our heart thank you soo much for the amazing trip ????, will 100% coming back and of course with Lauren and Clare only. Highly Recommend
Perfect and awesome view especially when it’s sunny, great staff and captain by the way
One of the best tours I've been on! Thanks ????☺️ so much.
Levi and Cassia (hope I’m spelling your name right) were so much fun for our tour. Cassia had the whole boat laughing most of the time and gave us so much insight to the history of Maligne Lake. I arrived at the tour knowing nothing and left with an appreciation for the people that made it what it is today and the First Nations people to whom this lake is special and sacred. I highly recommend the boat tour because I wouldn’t be into kayaking for 4 or 5 hours to get to Spirit Island. I must admit that I thought Spirit Island was a bit anti climatic (spoiler alert - it’s not an island at all). But even so, I’d love to go back on a clearer day and do it again. It’s such an iconic place and the tour guide was hilarious and informative.
The cruise was absolutely breathtaking. The staff there are awesome they explain everything. That was awesome so what's a captain
I believe our guides were Kelly and B? I apologize if this is incorrect. They were great. We went on the cruise nearly a month ago, it was a beautiful experience. I don’t understand those that rated poorly based on smoke or weather, the guides have no control over this. For us this experience was completely worth every penny because I myself am not someone whom would canoe, kayak or hike this far to see some of the views we saw. Someone in another review I read had mentioned about Waffle Hut and other food, but be aware that this is only on the shore at Maligne Lake, and there is nothing but a washroom on Spirit Island as it is a sacred traditional territory to the native Indigenous peoples of the area. We took the last cruise of the day, which was the best for photos, but when we returned nothing was open anymore on shore, I don’t know if this is normal, but I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to try the food at the Waffle Hut. Thankfully I happened to visit the gift shop prior to the cruise.
Beautiful and informative cruise. The tour guides give lots of information about the various mountains and islands that can be seen from the boat. A bit pricey but would definately recommend!
Bea and Cam were very amazing hosts!! An excellent tour that is blended with narratives of the history of the lake, the importance of it and spiritual significance of Spirit Island to the Stoney Nakoda Nation…it was a very meaningful tour and will resonate with me for the rest of my life…a truly exhilarating experience…
It was an enjoyable and worthy experience. We've got all girl crew with Meg as the boat skipper and Flo the articulate but funny tour guide. Thank you girls for the wonderful experience.
This was an awesome spot to visit.with wonderful ladies like Ariel and Allie. They made the the trip enjoyable. Thank you ????
Excellent customer service and very comfortable experience with awesome views. We arrived for our trip in the morning and it was super smoky and foggy from wildfires. We waited an hour for it to clear, but no luck, so we were given the option to get a refund or rebook for a later time. We booked to go back the next day and thankfully the smoke had cleared up a bit. We saw a mother and baby moose feeding along the beach right next to the boat dock - it was quite the experience! The views at the end of the lake are iconic and definitely worth seeing. However, you only get to spend about 15 minutes at Spirit Island taking it in. I thought the price was a little steep, considering. But your only other option is to paddle out there yourself or fork out extra for the premium cruise. The staff were very professional and friendly and delivered commentary during the boat trip. The cafe and gift shop were surprisingly nice with a huge patio overlooking the lake. Take your time on the drive to and from the lake - we saw a bull moose run across the road right in front of us, and a group of bighorn sheep! Keep your eyes peeled.
I'm normally not a fan of cruises/pre-planned excursions (opting instead for hikes, boat rentals, etc.) but I'd say this one is worth it purely for the stop at Spirit Island. Nat and Abigail were fantastic tour guides and captains, respectively, and we learned a lot about the area around Maligne Lake from them. Cruise is pricey (especially since you only get 15 min stop on the regular cruise) but since it's the only (easy) way of getting the world famous view there really isn't any other option. Two tips: 1. We bought our tickets at the ticket office and not online, and in hindsight that was a good idea. Weather is extremely tempermental in the mountains, and I felt bad for those who got tickets for the morning cruise when it was extremely hard to see due to the low clouds. 2. If you're looking to dine at the View afterwards, make sure to get a 15% coupon from the tour guide afterwards.
Hope to get Elliot as your tour guide if possible, he’s the best. Very informative and entertaining for a young chap. The views are awesome, and they take you for a 15 minute stop at Spirit Island, great view! The cruise is a bit overpriced, yet worthy. Glad I went on it. You can stand outside while the boat is moving but have to hold onto something tight. I wouldn’t risk standing outside though, the boat quickly accelerates and stops. Lots of space inside the boat. Try sitting up front, we had Jen as our captain. The windows were NOT foggy and some reviewers have mentioned.
After the snow had been wiped off the boat, we enjoyed the trip to Spirit Island. Very unusual and special to see the Island with Snow on this first day of Summer! But it was worth it!
The views made up for the disappointment. We got on our 315 boat but it was way over capacity. A bit odd overselling tickets while still in a pandemic. So we offered as tribute to go onto the next boat along with another family of 9 who were frustrated that they paid over 700$ for this to not even get a window seat. So now my partner and I and this family are on the 345 boat. Well another family boards with their child who is quite clearly having an anxiety attack. The kid was gripping for his life on a fence not to have his parents bring him on the boat. The father rips the child off the fence and brings him on, the boat starts, and this kid will not stop screaming. About 15 minutes into the trip after multiple complaints that this child would not stop screaming, the captain takes us back to drop them off. Keep in mind now that my partner and I have spent 160$ and this family as spent over 700$ and we’ve both had to switch tours and now dealing with this. The waffle place also messed up our order and I was waiting 20 minutes for mine. They claimed to have called my name, but we were sitting next to the counter the whole time and never heard our name. They were about to serve me my order with melted ice cream. The views were fabulous though and our tour guide I believe Emily, was great and really knowledgeable. I know that part of this adventure isn’t something that can really be controlled, just disappointing that with the amount of money that was spent, we were inconvenienced basically the entire time we were there.
We purchased a package including the Maligne Lake Cruise, Columbia Icefield Skywalk, and Banff Gondola for a super combo-deal! I highly recommend all three activities as the sceneries are spectacular. Everywhere we went, the staff and service was excellent. The boats for the cruises are very clean and look brand new.
Really wonderful experience. Must to do in list. Premium cruise ride was really unforgettable. It is great for beauty lover. Captain jered and guide shera ( might be wrong spell. Sorry for that guys. ) both are really amazing. Thank you so much guys for made our trip amazing.
It was a cool and cloudy morning last week when my friend and I booked the Maligne Lake Cruise. A soft drizzle was falling on shore, but our spirits (pun intended) were lifted once we met our engaging guide Becca aboard the Chaba. I have done the cruise before but this time Becca's energy and personal anecdotes made it even more memorable despite the clouds. Her warm personality definitely made us forget the coolness of the morning. Our Captain, Annabel (I believe?) was attentive and always took great care when passing smaller craft. Both Captain and guide also gave us some fun on the wake crossings of their sister vessels. As our tour approached the amazing Spirit Island we were rewarded with the clouds lifting and an absolutely beautiful view of the island and the Queen Elizabeth Range. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Jasper National Park!
Very fun little journey and the hostess was VERY knowledgeable. Reason for the 4 stars? Please change your noisy, polluting diesel boats to full electric drive! A no brainer especially for this pristine lake.
Upon arrival we experienced a bit of confusion with timing. The staff were very calm and polite while sorting things out. It made all the difference during our visit. Once on our tour, we enjoyed the views. We also enjoyed the stories and lessons learned from our crew (Flo and Captain Crystal). Would highly recommend this trip based on all of our experiences and will definitely be back. Thanks for a great day!!
Meg and Maddy were a delight as captain and host. Our cruise was spectacular and funny with the commentary, also important facts and information were shared as well. Spirit island is nothing but magical.
Maligne lake is one of the top site to see in jasper. Less crowd than lake louise. Drive way from banff to jasper is one the best way I've ever seen.
A wonderful experience highly recommended by me. Cruising the pristine glacier water of Maligne Lake will take you to the beautiful Spirit Island, a renowned spot for photography. We loved our journey very much by enjoying the picturesque scenery along the way. Two photos.
Wonderful for the whole family! Very informative and interesting for adults, while also being fun and exciting for kids. Sam & Jordan led an engaging and enthusiastic tour from beginning to end. Thank you very much!
Very interesting experience and visit to Spirit Island. You can see numerous glaciers on the way and Jordan was an amazing tour guide! Thoroughly enjoyed the visit!
amazing
Clare and Nat made the cruise fun and enjoyable. Clare is a capable captain and Nat is knowledgeable about the area. It is worth the time and money to take this cruise and learn about the history of the area and take in the beauty.
The start wasn't the best, very unorganized, the 1:15 cruise was cancelled but no one mentioned anything to anyone who had booked tickets eventhough we had gotten out tickets verified at the booth before hand. Even when we were all lined up at 1:05 when we were told to line up by, and at 1:15 when we were supposed to leave no one came to get us. Another passenger had to go up to the booth to ask why no one had come to board us for an employee to come down at 1:25ish and let us all know the 1:15 cruise was cancelled and we would all be on the 1:30 cruise. Honestly the saving grace was Meg the tour guide and Becca the driver. All being said the price is a bit much for the experience and to have these kind of errors they did, leaving customers in the dark like that. If not for Meg and Becca this rating would be 1star.
I visited this place alone and took backcountry trip to Corronet creek which is at the end of the lake. It was amazing and changing trip. No only spirit island has his spirit. The whole lake has special spirit. I highly recommend it.
It is a nice place to visit. For people who never experienced a true mountain then the lake cruise is a must do. As a skier I am very familiar with mountains so just a quick visit and a look at the lake and the mountains from the lake marine dock was sufficient.
Very friendly and informed tour guides. Spectacular views. Given the price was very odd that the guides openly asked for tips.
Love it, well maintained boats and excellent presentation by the tour guide "Sara". Boat handling by Alice was well above the mark.
Our visit to maligne lake was an absolute pleasure. Sam and Megan from the cruise made our trip to Spirit Island memorable through their enthusiasm in giving an education of the history of Maligne Lake and the land that surrounds it. Sam and Megan exceeded our expectations of the cruise and made the experience a highlight of our trip to Jasper. At the View restaurant, Andrew and Jake (or Jack, we cannot remember sorry!) were fantastic servers and gave top notch service. The food was outstanding and it is evident that the kitchen puts considerable effort and thought into making their dishes. A must do if staying in Jasper, even just to interact with the staff.
A nice little cruise and history lesson about the lake and region. Nice guides too
It was an amazing experience having to do this on my birthday. The crew did a great job in making sure every one enjoyed the trip. The only thing we did not like is having to be seated separate from each other. We are the last one to get into the boat so people ahead of us take advantage of getting a better seat. Some group of 5 to 6 have to seat on 3 rows instead of 2 which makes us seat on 3 different ends with them. Not comfortable as my mom is a senior. We ask the crew but he said NO. Still this trip was awesome because view is breathtaking. It takes you to high level of happiness. We were able to go outside to take pictures and videos and that makes a big difference to this trip. It is worth every cents. Most of my friends booked after I uploaded my video. It was the best Birthday gift ever.
A must see! Did the cruise and hike and huge shout out to Val and Al who took care of this awesome quest????
We did a tour on the Albert boat with Captain Liam and tour guide Kassia. I usually don't love guided tours but these guys were very warm, professional, and fun. Didn't feel overwhelming at all. Boat ride is nice and the time near spirit island is cool. We had a foggy day due to the fires nearby, so I can imagine it would only be more beautiful later on.
Must visit place
The views on this lake were incredible - a must see if you're in Jasper. Sam and Meg were great tour guides on our boat cruise of Maligne Lake. Sam was very knowledgeable and his passion for educating visitors about the Stony people and their culture was very evident; it was clear that he has great respect for their history. Meg did an awesome job getting us around the lake smoothly!
I did an early morning cruise (9.30am) on 21st of September with Kassia and captain Nick and very much enjoyed it. Not just because Maligne Lake and Spirit Island are obviously beautiful places worth visiting but also thanks to the crew. Whole commentary was interesting, informative and also funny as Kassia did not go far for jokes and she also had answer for every questions we threw at her. Overall very good experience and I would recommend it if visiting Maligne Lake area.
We were on the Bill Ruddy with Capt Ashley and tour guide Kelly. They were stellar. Started our 40th Anniversary day here at 10:45 a.m. What a treat. So informative and so much heart into the presentation. We will recommend this event to everyone. Attn: management... give these girls a huge bonus. They run it like they own it. ❤ ❤❤
It was just ok
No one should go in Jasper area without visiting Maligne Lake.
Flo Rida/Fro Rida and Sarah were phenomenal guides. Between the accomodation of a service dog along with the interpretation of the lake itself, it shows these ladies have numerous years of experience in the field. I have been a guide for over 10 years, and the service these 2 provided are unmatched so far from what I have experienced. Any guiding company should be honored having these 2 on the team.
Captain Emily and Guide Kelly (? Sorry not positive on name) were excellent. The captain handled the boat well and the guide was informative and engaged. The trip was wonderful and beautiful! Great experience!
Great ride with funny staff.
Beautiful scenery along with knowledgeable cruise staff made our visit memorable.
Did the classic cruise to Spirit Island. The boat ride to the "island" and back was nice, and the tour guides were interesting and informative. However you are 100% overpaying for the experience. This cruise is NOT a "must-do" while in Jasper as I was lead to believe, especially if you're on a budget. The views at the back of the lake were nice, but you only get 15 minutes there before the boat leaves to go back. If you do decide to purchase the cruise however, I would recommend you get the lunch deal with it as you can actually get an expensive meal for a lower add on cost.
Fantastic cruise around a gorgeous lake. The visit to spirit Island was spectacular. Our guides were awesome too made it a pleasure as well. Very friendly and fun. Our guides were B and Abigail.
Our guide was Flo and Kassia. They were awesome...lots of jokes made the trip better
Excellent experience. Captain Meg was an awesome captain, and captain Becca was an awesome guide. Would recommend ????.
Cruise boat is great. But more can be done to develop the spirit island to make it more memorable experience.
Very knowledgeable guide. Friendly staff. Breathtaking views.
As a resident of the province of Alberta - I got upset. My friends and I didn’t wanna take a ride on this ship. We just wanted to see on Spirit Island. But it was only the way to get there. And we were required to pay $70 each. I live in this province, I already paid for the pass to National park, I want to be able to see all beauties in the park of province where I live. Without extra fee.
Great staff, Breathtaking views , must visit .
Nice tour, unfortunately the visibility of the mountains was obscured by smoke
We arrived early for our 10AM cruise trip, the first of the day. Maligne Lake is long and narrow. The launch trip took 90-minutes and we traveled about 2/3 of the way down the glassy lake, to the south, to Spirit Island. The Queen Elizabeth Ranges, Mt. Mary Vaux, Mt. Brazeau, Fortuna Peak, and Maligne Mountain are all around the southern half of the Lake, which sits in a box canyon. The objective was Spirit Island, but the journey was worth the trip as well. The launches are comfortable and the guide was pleasant and informative as we learned some interesting facts and history about this beautiful place. This trip was reserved and tickets were purchased in advance. The launches run once an hour, but it is easiest to reserve space in advance. There is plenty of free parking, if you drive yourself, but tours from Jasper are available. I highly recommend this trip. The tour ends with landing and a short walk out to the Spirit Island viewing stand. This walk is short but it is over an open uneven dirt forest trail. A wheelchair or stroller could not do this, but the island can be viewed quite well from the dock.
Great but need to work with microphone and sound.
5/5 for the view, 3/5 for the cruise. The cruise takes you to Spirit island and a spectacular view. We did the premium cruise, which gives you a bit more time at the viewpoint. There was supposed to be a tour at Spirit island, but it wasn't much of a tour really. The premium tour wasn't worth the extra money. The commentary from the guides felt very scripted.
I think the cost of this is okay, but should be a bit cheaper. They crew is nice and knowledgeable, but you only get 15 minutes to view Spirit Island. I also dislike the idea of putting gas into a place like this – that you want to preserve and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It makes no sense when they spent over a million on a solar powered restroom next to Spirit Island, yet put gas into Maligne Lake.
Great staff and cruise was amazing. Must see place in jasper
Best. Boat. Tour. Ever.
This was one of the highlights of my Canadian Rockies trip. A must when in Jasper. Photo opportunities galore.
Took a cruise to Spirit Island. Meg as a guide and Cassie as a driver were an incredible team.
Wonderful ride out on the lake with breathtaking scenery.
Took the two hour cruise with Mark and Louis. They were amazing, friendly, informative and funny. Thanks so much--we had a great time!
Awesome, informative, and fun! Our guides, Nat and Emily, were the perfect balance of humorous, knowledgable, and professional. Would recommend!
Great attraction! Knowledgeable staff, plenty of time to see everything and walk by spirit island. Great area!
My husband, my 10 yr. old son and I took the Maligne Lake Cruise this afternoon and we were not disappointed. It was the highlight of our trip. the captain and tour guide were wonderful, knowledgeable, accomodating and funny. They made it a very special experience for all of us, but especially my son, who had never seen the mountains. He was thrilled. I highly recommend this experience. I I were to change anything, it would be to spend more time at Spirit Island as we were only given a short time to see it. But it was well worth it. Thank you Arielle and Steph!
Great experience with great crew. Thanks Sarah and Jordan:)
Spectacular!
Great experience - scenery was breathtaking and the cruise was comfortable and enjoyable. Thanks to our captain, Elliott, and our tour guide, Alexis - they were both amazing!!!
Another Lake with clean water but view of mountain got covered from BC Forest Fires smoke. Couldn't say this view was any less then other lakes.
Our tour guide Kessia and Captain Val made the trip a blast, very fun and informative! Views can't be beat! Boat was super clean. Highly recommend.
Fantastic tour with Jared and Cam …very informative and lots of humour! Highly recommend !
Great cruise! it's a must if you are visiting Maligne lake. Our guide Alexis was super friendly and knowledgeable!
Great experience! Highly recommend
This is one of my fav lakes. The best part is going on the boat cruise and getting to see the whole lake and Spirit Island. I always recommend people to visit this when in Jasper!
Great views. Great staff. Very safe environment. I would recommend this cruise to everyone!
Best tour guide ever! She was very knowledgeable with the right amount of humour. All staff I must say, were very welcoming.
Fresh clean Alberta mountain air
A comfortable and safe journey during covid-19. The company and staff has followed the protocols with pre-screening. Boats are at half capacities and I think all guests who are in the area should do this trip right now to support the company and take advantage of the reduced guest load.
A fantastic cruise company. I enjoyed every bit of the moment on the lake. Flo and Jordan are awesome. I'll be back again soon. The price is affordable.
Bea and Emily were fantastic, funny and informative, well worth the money!
Excellent history explanation about the like ! Good job ????
Great tour with exceptional knowledge share from our guide and captain. Big kudos to Nat and Claire, they were both amazing. 100% will revisit. Must also swing by the Waffle Hut
We had a wonderful experience during the Maligne Lake cruise with captain Claire and tour guide Abigail! The ride was smooth and comfortable despite the rain, we learned a lot from the great stories and historical facts, we absolutely loved these two as our boat crew. Highly recommend!!
Plenty of parking. A the cruise was good
Beatiful and stunning
Thank you Sam and Captain Luis for the AMAZING cruise experience! Your knowledge is incredible! Thank you for answering one million questions that our kids had to ask:) You took cruise excursion to the next level.
The biggest glacier lake in the rocky
Even though I went on a cool and rainy day, it was a fantastic experience! Nick and Nat were our guides and made the whole experience great. If you're in the Jasper area, this is definitely something you need to do. Make sure you book ahead several days as during the summer months bookings are fairly full.
Had a ride with Samson beaver today. Thanks to the captain and the crew. They were professional and knowledgeable about their craft. However, the mic during the tour doesn’t sound well . Not sure if it’s how she hold the mic or there was a prob with the mic. She sound muffled.
Very informative and beautiful tour
Bra and our captain( sorry I forgot your name) were exceptional. Great cruise in one of the worlds most beautiful locations. We will be back for sure Max and Deb
Great Cruise on a very scenic Lake. Nice restaurant choices and facilities at the main center. Some beautiful hikes. We did Spirit Island Premium cruise with Island Host when we landed. Spirit Island landing is just a vista point for beautiful scenery. The Premium gave extra time at this landing but there really is nothing to see here except take photos. Skip the Premium tour and just do regular boat tour.
Definitely worth the visit to this back country spot in Jasper. Go early for a snack at the waffle hut, great ice cream! Amazing views from the cruise and awesome guide (Flo) and captain (Liam).
Good experience, good service.
Magnificent place, worth the drive.. I spent there 4 hours, tried the lake cruise which was a great add on to my tour along with an easy nice trail around the lake ( Moose loop trail).. I do recommend this destination for anyone looking for a day tour in Jasper and its surroundings.. Special thanks for the Tour Guide of the cruise Claire and the great captain Cam for the great and informative tour..
Beautiful! Totally worth it! Our tour guide and boat captain were excellent.
The most beautiful lake color are amazing and the combination of the mountains and snow make this place epic. The water is really cold even in summer time..
Val and Jordan were great hosts. It can be a bit cooler at Maligne lake, so don't forget a sweater, even if Val and Jordan make the trip warm and welcoming.
Totally worth every penny!! I took my wife and 2 kids on the boat tour. Annabelle and Eliot were our boat crew and were amazing! They clearly take a lot of pride in their work and made the tour so much fun!
Great cruise. Luis and Flo were brilliant hosts, very welcoming and knowledgable whilst still enforcing the mask rules. The stillness and beauty at the back end of the lake are stunning, better in person than on a postcard.
Incredible staff and service. Cam and Ariel lead us on a great tour with interesting knowledge. The views are worth the value for sure!
I was skeptical about the boat cruise, but my wife and I were SO glad we did it. The ride down the lake offers beautiful views, but the stop at Spirit Island will knock your socks off! The stunning views are better than pictures capture. Will you be in awe! The drive down to the lake from Jasper village offers some of the best chances to view wildlife from your car in the entire park.
We had bad luck with the weather so we couldn't appreciate the views. Our captain and guide were lovely though, both informative and helpful! I would prefer a more flexible cancellation policy so that we could either cancel or reschedule our trip to a day with more favorable weather. 48hrs is not long enough when the weather in the mountains is so variable. If you are planning to do this cruise as part of your trip, you might be better off buying your tickets the day of at the lake rather than getting them online.
Wow! What am amazing experience. First of all the staff, Carlos and Jess were amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. Secondly, the trip to Spirit Island was incredible with beautiful views and photos. We will definitely be returning. Thanks so much to such great staff for making our weekend getaway worthwhile ????????
Worthy of taking the cruise even at rainy weather the view is amazing at spirit island as you can see in my picture:)
Annabelle and Nat were amazing as your guides could not imagine anyone else who would be better. # definitely made checking off a bucket list item well worth it I highly recommend the premium cruise
I have visited several times and it’s always an amazing experience! Even now, during the COVID pandemic, it’s a MUST SEE! They are taking EVERY possible measure to keep crew and public safe. They are allowing very few people on board in order to keep social distancing procedures. The staff is the most professional and friendly you can get anywhere. Totally amazing experience! Make sure you book on the internet so you will have your day and time confirmed beforehand.
Super informative, amazing views. Very safe and fun. Beautiful pictures at Spirit Island
The cruise staff are very friendly. I wish we could stay longer on the spirit island. 15 minutes stay was not quite enough. All passengers are required to wear mask on the cruise and there only 10 people on one boat (half of the capacity in the past). The lunch combo from the cruise package is a great deal. The portion was not too big but you could choose one main dish from steak, trout and chicken breast and more. The regular price eating in this restaurant with patio and scenic view is quite expensive.
Terrible experience. Drove for an hour just to find out that the cruise is cancelled. No warning no notice. Just get told when arrived. That I can reschedule for another time if I want..... Not exactly an option coming from Toronto....
Captain Emily and Tour Guide Lauren took us on an amazing adventure to one of the most stunning and peaceful places I have ever visited. It was a lot of fun, and the views were amazing. Thank you for an awesome afternoon!
Thank you Nat for a great tour. It was a lot of fun ????????
Excellent cruise to see "Spirit Island" and the Valley of the Gods, check the weather though, we "lucked out" . Nice place to visit in Jasper.
Fun experience! Sam and Lauren were great tour guides, with a great wealth of knowledge and fun sense of humour.
Stunning scenery and a great informative tour. Absolutely worth the price. We did the two hour tour with Flo as our guide and Amelia as captain and they were awesome.
Very recommended. The tour guide Nat and the captain Mag are very nice!
Teally amazing tour to spirit island. Emily and Valerie were great tour guides!
What an amazing day!! We were lucky enough to have clear skies and warm sun for our boat tour up Maligne Lake. The views and scenery can’t be compared to anything. The boat captain Bea (sp?) and tour guide Flo made the experience go from great to amazing. Flo’s knowledge of the area and indigenous history was compelling. Her quick wit and humor made the tour one of the best we have been on. Highly recommend the tour and if you can request Flo’s boat - try and do so!
Today was my first time on the Maligne Lake Cruise and I could not have been more glad I went. The captain was Meg and the tour guide was Flo. Flo was very funny and informative and made my time very enjoyable. The view was amazing the pictures turned out like the front of a postcard. I would definitely recommend this cruise.
awesome. they are so friendly!!! awesome place!!
Fabulous! Pursuit manages this really well. Crew on board were amazing, informative and funny. Captain Nat and Tour Guide Emily for the win !! Keep it up ladies !
I love the tour . Claire and Lauren were fantastic. They definitely know how to make it extra fun. Also love learning about different part of our history. Highly recommended!
Great cruise, the views were stunning. The staff are very knowledgeable on the history of the lake and mountains surrounding. Reallt enjoyed it and would recommend. Thank you Sarah and Nat :)
The cruise is just right (we did the 90 minutes). Our guide Meg is a delight and a great story teller
The boat ride takes you to some great glacier overlooks. And the famous Spirit Island is a visual treat. Although I felt, 15 mins to spend on the island was too little for 84$ each. Apart from being a bit overpriced (I felt so), the place is beyond beautiful... It was amazing.
Very enjoyable tour and breathtaking scenery. The guide Nat and the boat capitan were very knowledgeable and skilled. We would love to do again the tour next year!
Awesome place, went on the boats the smoke had cleared a little, didn't spoil the day it was great ????
Amazing photographic experience. Went during a overcast, almost rainy, day, creating really nice moody pictures. The cruise goes to the infamous Spirit Island.
