We went for a fish fry. Excellent food! The sides are homemade which you don't find everywhere. The fish was delicious. Our waitress was great and made us laugh...definitely welcome after a long day at work. Will be back!

Lovingly restored Victorian home that's now A restaurant. The food is very good the atmosphere is nice and relaxed but sophisticated enough that you can go out after a play. Friendly staff reasonable prices.

Usually come for the fish fry which is really good..but I have to say that this time when we went we were seated and the waiter refused to come and take our order! Another waiter had to come and take our order and apologize on his behalf for his our ignorance. Were sitting down for almost 45 minutes with out even being recognized that we were even there. Horrible service ever!!!

There is no parking is only off the Street the place is average the cooking is very consistent prices can be steep for the quality and the portions. Most waiters and waitresses personality are extraordinary however they lack on speed and they also lock on attention they're very forgetful about what you have ordered

Fish Fry was great! French onion soup was on point. Old Bay shrimp excellent! Only thing keeping me from rating it 5 star is the service was a bit slow. Took 20 minutes to get first drink but the waiter made up for it the rest of the way.

The staff is always friendly and the food is great! If you are looking for an inexpensive lunch with a quiet atmosphere, then this is the place for you. Call ahead, and your lunch will already be waiting for you. Hamlin has been a gem in the area for quite some time.

Most expensive drinks of any legion house I've ever been to. Needs a coat of paint, new floors, and a better food service plan. The chicken tasted like it was boiled and then wrapped in a bread coating. They forgot to drail the pasta or I mistook the soup de jour for pasta. At least the parking was difficult.

The Hamlin House is where my husband and I hosted our wedding reception and it was absolutely perfect. After our first walk through I knew we had found the place. It is an American Legion Post and so as you can imagine the house has so much character, charm, and vintage/old world feel. The two huge wooden double doors welcome you into a long foyer that will lead to either the dining room and bar, used on weekends for lunch and dinner, or will take you down to the large open reception hall. I had a decent sized wedding with about 90 in attendance and we used the space and had a generous amount of room. There is also this gorgeous mahogany wooden staircase that is just dreamy and perfect for private pictures. Lynn, the House coordinator, was fabulous! She was so accommodating to myself and those assistanting me with setup - it was really what ever we needed and she was always available when I had questions. I cannot thank her enough. And the food! We opted for a late morning brunch and it was fabulous. From the eggs, to the ham, the sausage and pastries -- so delicious!! Now, since the venue itself is in the heart of downtown there are so many gorgeous photo opportunities both outside and inside. Its a win win and my husband and I couldn't have had a better day!!! Thank you Lynn and Hamlin House staff!!!

Hamlin House is a magnificent building. The fish fry was one of the best. Fish can be prepared in various ways. In addition to the traditional macaroni salad and coleslaw. I was given a choice of frys, macaroni and cheese or red cabbage.

Sunday brunch is always a hit for us. We drive 20 minutes for this hidden gem. The wait staff is personal and friendly. Always have specials posted as you walk in and are usually very tasty and reasonable, like 2 pork chops with eggs, hash browns and toast, under $10. Bloody Mary's are hand crafted. They take pride in each one always ensuring you are happy with the quality. Many regulars on Sunday especially after church.

So I came to Hamlin House on 7/30/2018 with my boyfriend for the famous fish fry . I arrived and was seated almost immediately around 6:45pm . My partner and I was asked if anyone named Joe had to come to take our drink order ? Finally at 7:25 pm the lady working in the same room took out drink order and asked again if Joe had come by . We said no he didn’t come ! My boyfriend witnessed this waiter discriminate against us refusing to take our order . I was so taken back and disgusted that this was allowed in such a well known establishment in the area . It’s truly appalling that he was even employed and this was allowed ! How horrible . I asked for the manager . The lady had advised me that she was the manager for the night and she apologized for his actions. Still this is not ok or even forgivable to just be ignored for what ever prejudices he may have against me and my partner . How and when is this ok ? Being that his working in the restaurant& hospitality industry how can you just ignore patrons because he wants to . Coming from background of hospitality and restaurant this is never acceptable . I would understand if there was hesitation if there had been a altercation but there was not moment for this to even happen . I am left very confused to what Hamlin House is endorsing ? I would also like to add this waiter had no regard for human hygiene having beard unkept messy hair uniform dirty and wrinkled as if he had been fighting with a blender . What was his cave man appearance and service was less then satisfactory especially being around food where hair can fall into very disappointing . When we did the food it was very good but the service and night has changed my mind to recommend it for being discriminated from walking in and being refused to be served by some neandtheral back words yuppie .

Recently moved back from North Florida to WNY, originally from Rochester. I work in buffalo so being new to the area there a LOT of options for lunch. I found the Hamlin House by accident after a meeting and I was impressed!..I've been spoiled with fresh Gulf fish daily down south but their Fish Fry was AMAZING!..It came with some excellent macaroni salad & cole slaw as well as another side...I chose the Mac & Cheese which was excellent as well...Great causal atmosphere for lunch & AWESOME staff as well as affordable pricing...If you haven't tried then out, you're missing out!..

We went for a Friday fish fry, party of 4 with reservations. The tee restaurant was crowded but we were seated right away. The meals were adequate if overpriced. But the service was atrocious, the worst service I have had in this establishment. From the time we finally were able to order it was an hour before the meals were dropped off and when the bill was delivered it was incorrect. I may return for a Sunday brunch, but surely not for dinner.
