What a great tour, it included Newfoundland music at the end! Beautiful scenery. A must see when visiting NL.

The tour itself is amazing, the walk in is beautiful. My only complaint is there is to many people on the boat making it difficult to find seating. It's becoming a bit of a tourist trap like most things.

We booked the Western Brook Pond dayhike with Bontours. First off, I want to say that I had a great time on the hike itself, and our guide, Colin, was awesome. The hike is challenging- you will be crossing water a bunch, so maybe bring a spare pair of socks because your feet will get wet. Views from the top are spectacular and well worth it. Found the booking process/dealing with BonTours frustrating, however. When I called Bontours to book the hike initially, I had some questions about the hike, but the lady taking my information seemed in a hurry to get off the phone (was just concerned with getting my credit card info) and was not very helpful at all. She said I would receive an e-mail answering all my questions, and to call at noon the day before the hike was to set out to confirm that it was still running. So I called Bontours at noon the day before as I was instructed to, and the lady that answered the phone rudely responded “why wouldn’t the hike be going on.” I asked what time we should be meeting, and she said she had no idea and to check the e-mail that I received. I double checked the confirmation e-mail that I received a month prior when I booked the hike, and there was no information on what time to meet. I then called the lead guide, Colin, who told me that we would be meeting one hour prior to the hike start at 08:30 at Out East adventures. At 07:45 the next morning, we get a call from someone saying that they forgot to send out the e-mail with all the info, and that we would be meeting at 08:30. We arrive at 08:30 and are briefed on the hike, and receive instructions to meet our guide at the boat at Western brook pond. We drive over and arrive there just before 09:30 (the scheduled start time of our hike), walk to the dock and are waiting an hour for the boat to arrive! There is no cell service, so we cannot call to ask what is going on. The boat finally arrives at 10:45 and we depart. The 6 people in our group were all hiking at a decent pace, but because the first group was slow, we were waiting at the dock for some time and didn’t get picked up by the boat until 7:15pm, meaning we didn’t get back to the parking lot until after 8pm. We had plans that evening that had to be cancelled as a result. Overall, the experience was very disorganized, and seemed like there were too many parties involved that did not relay information to each other properly. For the amount of money that they charge, I would have hoped that they run a more professional service.

Took the Western Brook Pond tour and our guides were friendly and the tour itself was very informative and really the only way to see the best views. Cost of the tour was $62 per person which is definitely on the steep end of things. Given that the alternative is a very muddy and difficult trail that involves crossing a brook (took me 6 hours), the boat tour is definitely the more accessible choice!

We had a wonderful time with Bontours on their Western Brook boat tour. We learnt quite a bit about the general area and we thought the guides were very knowledgeable. They took the time to chat with the people in the boat and took pictures for us. We were even treated with a bit of local folk music (what a surprise)! Two hours went past so quickly and we wish it was longer. Since the tour is very popular, our boat's capacity was maxed out. Everyone got a seat but it was a bit too crowded in my opinion. It was difficult to move about without always being in someone's way.

BonTours offers a beautiul view of the Western Brook Pond. The information is so very interesting and we were in awe at the beauty of it all. Definetly a must see !!

The tour is misleading in the fact you may initially believe you will go on a hike. This is a perfect tour for small children and seniors. Very slow moving boat around the pond with a very lively tour guide who loves his job.

(Translated) “With BonTours at Western Brook Pond” We booked the Western Brook Pond Tour with BonTours Boat Tours. Unfortunately the weather was not so good. The boat was pretty crowded. The crew was very nice and went out of their way to tell interesting information about the destination.

This was an amazing visual tour. The tour guide wasn't nearly as lively as an earlier tour we had taken! A tip to help you enjoy it, be well prepared for weather and temperature changes. The view is the same on the way out as it is on the way back so there will be lots of time for pictures.

Took the day hike up Western Brook Pond booked by BonTours and guided by Out East Adventures and it was absolutely incredible. Our guides were a ton of fun and adapted to the style and needs of the group and engaged everyone. Felt like our friends by the end. Once we arrived at the end of the fjord our guide went into full photographer mode and got amazing shots of everyone in all the best spots. We noticed he even used the different lenses on our iPhone to get different perspectives. Really impressed. One of the best experiences I've had in Newfoundland.

I have been on many boat tours all over the world but this one was the best yet. It's a must do if you are in western Newfoundland

We really enjoyed this tour. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Scenery was beautiful while cruising through the dark waters on a very sturdy vessel.

Samantha Lamb

Beautiful tour, would of wanted a little bit more geological information. Loved T.J. with his music and the spoon playing. If there is one boottour you have to do this is it. For you singel men out there: It is a romantic setting to propose.

We had an excellent boat trip with BonTours. The staff were the best part, telling us useful information, being fun to chat with, and performing live music. The views were stunning. Highly recommended.

Everyone knows that when you get to Gros Mourne that a must is Western Brook pond. Unfortunately Bontours has monopolized this experience and made it quite expensive. They crammed 50+ people on a boat (we were shoulder to shoulder). It seemed like they were more concerned about getting more peoples money. The trip had great views, but wasn’t anything short of a city bus ride around a loop. Not really worth the money.

Isaac Mailach

Could not have been more pleased with this tour. Was definitely the highlight of our Gros Morne vacation. The tour guide was very informative and funny. They even had my daughter play the spoons to Newfoundland music which was awesome! The walk wasn't bad and took approximately 30 minutes. I would suggest battery operated golf cart rides into the site for disabled and elderly people. There would be no noise/emissions to disturb the wildlife. There is no reason people should miss out on the spectacle of this tour.

Myself, hubby and our two foster kids ages 2 & 4 did the discovery tour. No words can describe how much the kids enjoyed it! The boat was a good size and their was only 2 or 3 other families on board. It was not crowded at all. It was wonderful for the kids who didn't sit still for the most part. The staff were excellent and so friendly. They didn't seem to mind the million and one questions our 4 year old asked. Captain Mike even gave her a bag of cheesies. Every time we see a bag of crunchits cheesies she says "those are captain mikes cheesies" After the boat tour they do a tour of the marine centre where you can touch stuff and they have a touch tank. The kids really enjoyed it, as did I. Captain Mike and April will not be forgotten for a long time around here. Big M is already asking when she can go on the boat again. Thanks to all the staff on the Bonne Bay tour... We made a lot of great memories!!!

Did the Western Brook Pond tour - well worth the money! Amazing sights, fabulous staff! Do it!

We did the Western Brook Pond day hike. This involves getting a boat shuttle to the end of Western Brook Pond and hiking a 12km round trip 480m up the mountain to the perfect picture of the Gros Morne fjords. Unfortunately the weather was against us and we climbed into a cloud. Fortunately the whole experience was amazing, from the nature around us and the amazing views we did get, to the experience, guidance and Newfoundland humour we got from our guide Brad. This hike is not for the faint of heart, and we did have those among us who found it technically and physically difficult. Those who are up for both, this is well worth it.

Yvette Oake

had a wonderful time on their evening cruise, the staff are great people. looking forward to visiting them again.

I liked the tour. I found it somewhat crowded. The prime spots at the front and on top were taken quickly. The back and cabin area had ok views. I felt it was an expensive trip for a family, especially if your teens have to pay the adult rate. Distance markers on the walk to the boat would have been nice as well. At least the parking wasn't an additonal charge.

Tom Bruce

I did a guided day hike (part of Long Range Traverse). This was a highlight of my trip to Gros Morne - the hike, the guides and the group were awesome!

We experienced your Western brook Pond Tour about the 17th of July. The Boat tour itself was amazing but when Carter and T.J. started their entertainment program, they blew us away. T.J.'s renditions of Newfie music got us toe tapping and clapping. Carter introduced us to his Nashville Newfie Band led by "Cole" and backed by brother sister and Mom and Dad. They stole our hearts. Thank you so much Carter and TJ

Great boat tours at Bonne Bay and Western Brook

We did two tours with Bontours, the Marine Discovery Tour. The Western Brook Pond Tour. Both were excellent and super entertaining for children as likewise. The crews and the Interpreters are super well trained and deliver a real Performance! For the Western Brook Pond tour the hike to the boat terminal is do able in 30 min. With children the announced time of 1 hour is really still sufficient.

Alexander Tuerpitz

The tour was fantastic. Definitely one for the books. They offer food and snacks for a price at the docks which is great. The walk from the parking lot to the docks is also very impressive and takes you through miles of stretched out forests. Pay attention and you just might see a moose or a caribou.

Ashley Dekok

A beautiful tour of Western Brook Pond that includes amazing landscapes and knowledgable guides who speak both English and French. A must-do tour on your trip to Gros Morne!

Oana Hossu

The Western Brook pond tour is magnificent and I was not expecting the walk out there to be as beautiful as it was. Call ahead to make sure your tour is running because they will cancel it if the fog is too thick or they don't have enough people.

christine van kammen

Took both the bay and the pond tours. Eagles on the bay with a great guide on board but the vistas were more stunning on the pond tour.

Garret MacDonald

Reasonable rate for the service. The tour guide was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and funny. He knew the area very well. I had such a great time and one of my favorite moments. They even added an extra tour at 4 pm because of th demand which was awesome as that was the only time we could make it! Outstanding work !

Did the Western Brook Pond boat tour yesterday. Had great weather, it made all the difference. The walk in isn't too bad, mostly flat with boardwalk portions. The tour was amazing, a must see if your wanting to get close to the rocks. The gf and I sat up top near the front, was a good seat for viewing as well as blocking the wind.(slightly behind wheelhouse) The only complaint was one of the tour guides. They had two on board, one French, one English, which I can understand. The French tour guide was on the top level and only spoke French. There was only one couple in our area that was French, so they had their own personal tour guide. So when the English tour guide would talk, the French one would talk French over him at get two French costumers...hard to hear the English. Towards the end, the French tour guide managed to get two English words out..."over there", that was it. It seemed rude, kinda felt like I was in Quebec. Other than the French barrier, this tour was amazing.

We did the Western Brook Pond day hike with BonTours, and it was incredible! The views we had on the ride in and the hike up were one of a kind. Our guide, Brad, made the hike extremely fun and exciting, can’t recommend him enough!
