We chose Espace Canal for our wedding reception venue for our wedding that took place June 2019 and we recommend this location to any bride & groom! The modern yet classic industrial feel next to the lachine canal felt like home and a place we wanted to share with our wedding guests. It also made a wonderful and varied backdrop for pictures! We work in the hospitality and entertainment/health industries and we needed a place where we could trust the staff enough to feel like "guests" at our own wedding. We wanted a place where our guests would be treated to the best food and entertainment. From the beginning of our booking, Alexa and her staff were there to answer any and all of our questions in a professional and friendly manner. During our wedding reception, staff worked seamlessly to ensure we and our guests were taken care of, many of our guests telling us how much they enjoyed the food and the live band!!! We found the prices for this space, the food & the drink to be extremely reasonable.

Alexandra was amazing at handling our questions and requests leading up to the event, and Alexa was a star at making sure the actual day went off without a single hitch. They handle everything with such kindness, calm and attention to detail, we felt completely supported throughout the whole process. Not to mention the garden space for the ceremony is absolutely gorgeous. If this place is on your list, don’t hesitate!

They executed the event with professionalism - even when we had to resort to a last minute change to an indoor ceremony due to rain. They made our vision a reality and helped us have the perfect wedding day. Our guests agreed, this was an amazing place to host an event. Highly recommend!

Lovely reception hall. We were there to attend a weeding. The outdoor "gazebo" allowed for a beautiful ceremony. The patio also served quite well for the cocktails. Hope to attend more events there in the future.

If you’re looking for the perfect wedding venue I highly suggest L’Ambroisie restaurant. They are very accommodating, staff is super friendly, our guests loved the food. The event coordinator, Alexandra is quick to reply and will answer every and all questions you have throughout your time planning. She is amazing and was so helpful in this process. I never had to stress with anything about the venue and that’s all because of how confident I felt with Alexandra. You have 3 options where you can do your ceremony. Inside the restaurant, outside in the terrace, or outside in their beautiful garden. Again, if you’re looking for an amazing place to hold your ceremony and reception then Restaurant L’Ambroisie is the place to do it!!

I used to have the luck to have worked within the same building as the restaurant and availed myself of it frequently to grab an affordable yet tasty lunch. Their fingers are also very good and not overly expensive considering the work they put into preparing meals. The interior decor is a little eclectic and the terrasse is a great space to while away a summer evening. Paid parking is available, unfortunately Street parking may be difficult to procure.

This is an amazing place to host a wedding. We had ours on Saturday and Alexandra was a huge part of making it a success! The staff was amazing and professional. They set everything up for you and help to make sure the schedule goes according to plan. The food is beyond amazing and the restaurant is beautiful. We would recommend paying to rent the AV equipment and bringing your own DJ as that was the only area that really brought down the night but it had nothing to do with the venue or the organizers. The terrace is beautiful and a great space to share time with friends and family. I would for sure recommend hosting your wedding at the restaurant!

My brother and my sister in law had their wedding here in august 2018. The garden was the perfect spot for the ceremony. I really liked the fact that the hall had a connecting terrasse. There was plenty of space for everyone to move around comfortably. The service was a little upsetting. There was only 1 bartender serving atleast 130 people (minus kids and elders) so there was always a lineup. But atleast he was efficient and friendly. The coordinator was in and out (she was hosting another wedding next door). During the evening, 2 random uninvited ladies came in twice and they went straight to the bar. Yes. Twice. The coordinator was well aware of the situation the first time and really wasn’t that helpful. Instead of taking care of the situation once and for all, she made it seem like it was normal and that it was fine for them to be there. After seeing them a second time my fiancé had ask the coordinator for them to leave. Seems like she finally got the message after two times! The DJ (slim, black hair with glasses) that they suggested sucked big time. Do tell me who plays Mariah Carey “we belong together” during a mother and son dance?! Also, who plays “humble” by Kendrick Lamar when the groom and bride are cutting the cake?! The DJ was not only bad at what he does but he had a serious attitude problem. What kind of a DJ refuses to change the song when asked to?! Multiple songs were inappropriate for what was going on during the reception yet he dares to ask why change the song and also refuses?! Really?! He shouldn’t even be hired as a DJ. Other than that, the waitors and waitresses were kind enough to ask if everything was okay. Although, one waitress seemed confused when asked what was is the soup and if there was a vegetarian dish. Food was just ok. During the tasting, we had 5 strips of chicken on the plate and during the wedding there was only 3. Atleast the beef was a good portion. Budget wise, I would certainly recommend this place for the site but be aware of the service and definitely make sure to book a DJ that best fits your theme and respects your guests.

I got married at Espace Canal in October and cannot say enough great things about the experience - from the first day that we visited Alexa was so helpful in answering all of our questions and made the whole planning process so easy and stress-free! The space was exactly what we were looking for (somewhere where we could have the ceremony/reception at the same place, with amazing food, great ambiance, charming location near downtown - and as an added bonus, they even work with Deep Waters Events to provide an amazing DJ and MC!). Leading up to the wedding, Alexandra also did such a wonderful job of coordinating the day's events and creating a space that was even more magical than we could have ever imagined! The service that we received from Ambroisie was exceptional, the food so delicious (our guests were so impressed!), and the overall experience was just so positive that we would not hesitate to recommend this venue for future events! My wife and I got married here Sept 9th and I could not say enough great things about this venue. It was the first place we went to visit as a location prospect and it quickly became our only. Thankfully, our gut instincts were right. Emails were answered so fast, preparation and execution was so well organized and it was so liberating to be able to be at your own wedding and not having to worry about a thing. Not to mention, the food was out of this world delicious. The service was amazing and the staff was so accommodating to all our of our needs. They also went above and beyond to ensure a few of our guests with severe allergies were well taken care of. 5 stars is not enough to rate how wonderful this place was.

We collaborated mostly with Alexa who answered all of our questions and was patient when we were deciding whether or not to move forward with a wedding during the pandemic. We appreciated that both Alexa and l'Ambroisie staff (including Emma the head server) were receptive to our feedback, especially after our food tasting. What we noticed the most however, was how well Alexa and l'Ambroisie executed the day of the wedding. We left them with a very detailed scheduled that they followed to perfection. I had my wedding at Espace Canal in September 2015. The garden was lovely and I liked the clean industrial look of the hall. I found my experience leading up to my wedding was favorable. Good communication with Nathalie, there were diferent menu packages depending on the budget, the menu tasting was good and generous. There were some restrictions though, for example, they wouldn't allow wine bottles to be kept at the table. A waiter or waitress had to serve it. The outdoor ceremony was great and well executed. The reception afterwards, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing. Service was scarce. My mother-in-law mentioned that the wait staff was not circulating enough, glasses of wine were not being refilled. In fact, the wait staff didn't even come to me and my husband to offer wine! We toasted our wedding with EMPTY wine glasses! And the food was in small portions, not the same amount as at the tasting. My mother-in-law mentioned the roast beef was cut so thin that the entire thing could be eaten in 2 bites (and she eats like a bird). This is obviously upsetting for me to hear, and has left a bitter taste in my mouth about the entire experience. The 3 stars is for the outdoor ceremony. The rest I would rather not experience again.

Outdoor terrasse where bikes are left at the door, but kids allowed. Giant games of bean toss are available while you sip on pints of St-Ambroise. I opted for the Cider, while my wife chose a white wine. The size of the wine glass could only be described as kid sized, so expensive nectar indeed. The Pizza was delicious, cooked in a stone pizza oven, tasting fresh. Always a fun time...just one thing to wine about in the end.

I attended a wedding here and it was great! The outdoor set up was gorgeous and the scenery was right on the water, next to the Lachine Canal. The indoor venue was perfect for a small celebration. Nice rental space and restaurant near the Old Port of Montreal over looking the Lachine canal. Restaurant has a Mediterranean feel inside, very cosy. The adjacent building is a reception rental space with a rustic look. Outdoor seating and some nice green space along the water. Paid parking in the back.

A glass was broken at the next table and we had to go get the broom because the staff had spent very briefly and there was a lot of glass left. He seemed to lack staff. Also, on arrival, there was a strong smell of sewage in the room that dissipated in the evening as they had opened all the doors. Il semblait manquer de personnel. Aussi, en arrivant, il y avait une forte odeur d'égout dans la salle qui s'est dissipée dans la soirée car ils avaient ouvert toutes les portes. Probablement que ce dernier problème n'était pas de leur ressort mais à cause de la proximité du canal Lachine.

Planning a wedding during a pandemic is tough, but having the Ambroisie et L'Espace Canal team on board with us made the process feel like a breeze. My husband and I could not recommend this place enough. Not only is the location absolutely stunning with the old brick building and the Lachine canal right outside - the entire staff is so incredibly accommodating, friendly and professional. They really want you to have the best wedding you possibly can and it shows. Alexa and Alexandra, the coordinators, went above and beyond in communication and making sure we had everything we needed and wanted for our big day. No ask was too big. Chef Stuart designed a completely customized and delicious menu for us that exceeded our expectations, allowed us to get creative and have exactly the food we wanted. Our wedding was a perfect day and it’s in HUGE part due to our choice to have it at L’Espace Canal. Our guests were raving to us all night about how beautiful the location was and how great a time they had. To the whole team - THANK YOU.

Avoid the brunch at all cost, it's an amateur restaurant. I am taking a little bit of my time here just so you don't lose yours. My family and I went last saturday for brunch. They have 3 items on the menus, but didn't have mushroom and english muffin for the egg benedict... The person serving us wasn't very experienced and was apparently alone. Well, there was the one cook. An hour after having placed our order, they weren't sure on how long it was gonna take to get it. It wasn't even busy... The terrace is very nice.

Went for a summer wedding, very beautiful space for a ceremony, it is outside which is also near a water setting. There is ample area for pictures, but it is also a public space for others, so jut be aware it is shared space. The reception room is for smaller crowds but spacious and interesting. The best part is the patio, which was used for the cocktail hour.

Terrible costumer service. Went to see the space for our reception for our wedding and when we were finally seen (after a 35 minute wait with no apology) they let us know that the date we asked for and they said was free was possibly already reserved!! They didn't feel like letting us know before hand? What a waste of an hour and a half!! Will never recommend this place to anyone!! If I treated my clients like this I'd be poor!!

Recently went to a wedding here, this venue checks all the boxes, beautiful venue, attentive staff, clean, delicious meal. EXCEPT for having to use the venues DJ. She was rude and unaccomodating and didn't know how to read the crowd. DJing is a profession not just someone who plays tunes. You pay for a DJ expecting them to play your song list but sadly it didn't happen. What's a wedding without the dancing part! I've heard this complaint from 2 other people who went to weddings here about the same young woman DJ. My suggestion, unless they don't get a new professional DJ, think twice about this venue.

My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement at L'Espace Canal in the garden by the gazebo. It was a magical day that we will not soon forget. From the moment we met with Alexandra to plan our event to the day of the event we felt taken care of and at ease. Every detail was thought through for example almond croissants I had requested for my mother and I. The drinks were always filled and plates were constantly removed from the table when required to avoid being swarmed by bees/wasps. The food was great, the quantities were generous and the flow of the event felt natural. We are so grateful to have celebrated this milestone with our friends and family with the Espace Canal Team. Our guests have not stopped raving about the service and location. Thank you again for making this special day unforgettable for all the right reasons.

A little disappointing as a reception venue. Our office party is held here for the past 3 years and every year feels the same. Same food, same mediocre sound system with bad acoustics and same uncomfortable chairs. It feels like they are understaffed for big events. While it is completely comprehensible to have a slower paced service with a big crowd. This year, the service was actually turtle paced. Additional waiting time was added after every service. We were seated around 7pm and we finished eating around 10:30pm. Perhaps a little touch up on the furniture, room acoustics, sound equipment hiring more staff could help improve customer experience. Food for thought.

We had a bal. Got our food 2 hours late. By the time the food came, I was ready to punch someone in the face cuz I was soo hungry. Then they started putting our tables and everything away while we were still there dancing and still had the space for another hour. I thought it lacked professionalism to start putting away all the tables while the bal is still going. Its a nice looking space but very unorganized.

My husband and I got married here in September. Before we found L'Ambroisie we wondered whether it was worth it for us to have a full scale wedding at all. We probably looked up every venue in the Montreal area, and it seemed like venues similar to L'Ambroisie were exponentially more expensive, and venues at a similar price point weren't half as beautiful. Once we found it, the decision was easy for us. The location and food were lovely, and the best value of all was probably access to a venue coordinator. Because this is more or less an all-in-one venue, our coordinator, Alexa, was an expert on most everything to do with the day. We must've emailed back and forth almost a hundred times over the year we planned our wedding. I felt like I had a $5000 wedding planner for free. We had so many compliments on our venue. I would recommend L'Ambroisie to anyone.
