I did not believe in online lessons - I always thought to learn an instrument requires a teacher to teach you side by side, and sometimes hold your hands to correct the playing. When my daughter (7 years old beginner) started her lessons at Lambda online, it changed my opinion completely. I had a preliminary conversation with the director of the school, and she was very patient and highly professional. She explained to me that each child learns differently, but she gave me a lot of content. I was certainly impressed, but still not totally convinced. I have no experience with the piano or any other instrument. But I decided to give it a try. The tuition fees are indeed much higher than other schools (as my husband did a side by side comparison), however, the quality was completely unsurpassed. My child started her first lesson in March 2020 from a beginner, and is now playing pieces at a level that I would never have dreamed to be possible. The teaching quality is amazing. The only thing is that, Dr. Chan requires diligence and commitment from both the student and parent. And sometimes it is challenging, particularly when I have work in the office, and also a younger baby. But it is all worthwhile - as I am introduced to the world of music, and also learned how to coach my daughter in his practice. I heard the name Lambda many years ago, and thought that it was a school only reserved for the exclusively talented kids. It seemed so remote, and now, as a parent first hand experiencing this process and seeing my daughter improve so much within such a short time span - I can only say that, this is a truly amazing school.
