Special Event Rentals really came through for me for a last minute event at work! They were accommodating and worked quickly with me to ensure that we would receive the items on time. The event went smoothly and was a success!
I would AVOID!!!!! I placed my order for a floral wall backdrop for my best friends bridal shower. The staff was helpful over email and phone in booking it. HOWEVER, when I went to pick up the backdrop the actual material of it was a poorly digitized and a pixilated backdrop of flowers - NOT SILK FLOWERS as I expected. My boyfriend loaded it into his truck and after I saw it I was so disappointed I went right back into their office and asked the receptionist for my money back. It was $107 to rent for the day WHICH I PAID IN FULL 2-3 weeks prior to picking it up - they gave me only $70 back because of LABOUR????? When my boyfriend was the one to load it into our truck????? We didn’t even leave the shop and the only thing their staff did was bring us the heavy material which MY BOYFRIEND had to load into the back of our truck so WHAT labour exactly costs $35 to have someone put it on a trolly and moved it ten feet to have US physically lift it and place it into our vehicle ?????? I will be calling their head office to request ALL my money back and they can check their back cameras to see WHO really did the heavy labour for $35 AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!! Staff was nice when I was paying but rude when I wanted my money back for obvious reasons.

The showroom smelt of cake and frosting, it was so inviting. Even though the business is located in the industrial area of Calgary, they were able to make me feel as though I was Downtown shopping for my own wedding place centers. The ladies working the front were too kind and so welcoming. The gentlemen that helped me in the warehouse were efficient and friendly. Wonderful experience!
The tables we rented arrived dirty - sticky, gum on the tops and bottoms as well as foot marks on the underside from when they took them apart after the last event. You would expect the tables to be wiped down between uses - and they were obviously not.

Could not be happier with this team of people. My company had a last minute urgent need for a propane firepit. I emailed at 11pm the night before my trip and recieved a response from the owner within minutes! At 11pm!!! Wow. My kind of customer service (especially when all I needed was a simple firepit versus the huge orders they run for other events). My experience started will calling Special Event Rentals Calgary, not knowing exactly what I wanted. The staff quickly helped me understand what I needed, and were very patient in answering all my questions. When the stage came, the crew delivering it were very friendly and efficient. Set-up and take down were a breeze, and the stage worked well for our event.
The rental process was great - even though the agent I dealt with at first was out the days leading up to the event, she handed the file off to another person who took care of us. The delivery guys were very friendly and patient when we weren't sure about our drop-off and pick-up point, and helped us decide on a place that was convenient for both of us.

It was super easy working with special event rentals. I would highly suggest going in to meet with the staff there before making decisions on your rental items. We mostly dealt with Kimberly through our process of getting our wedding things organized. She always responded very quickly and in a detailed manner to our questions. We met Stacie in person and she was so easy to work with, provided us with great advice and ideas which turned out great.

They are easy to get in touch with, and are quick to inform you of issues, availibility, everything. Great customer service and reasonable prices! We rented two tables and some chairs for a christmas party we were having, and it was definitely worth it. Only qualm would be that you can't drop off rentals on Sundays as they are not open.
The showroom was nice and tidy. The ladies were kind and welcoming. I dealt with Staci and Denise and they were both extremely helpful. Denise had an appointment lined up, but she was still able to assist in what I needed just before her customer came in. I called in and reached Staci, I asked to speak with Denise in regards to revising a quote I done up with Denise earl, but Denise was busy with the customer. So Staci helped me with the quote without a hesitation. I like the fact that all the Reps work well together and help each other out. The gentlemen that helped me in the warehouse were friendly and efficient. Thank you very much, and I will most definitely refer friends and family to Special Event Rentals.
They have nice stuff but not great customer service. Waited a few weeks to get a quote when we were told it would be by the next week. We were patient with that as we were told it was their busiest time. A few months later when trying to communicate by email we got no respose.

I recently rented a dance floor and napkins. They have a great selection of colors and I was able to find a perfect match. The show room was beautiful and it sparked some good ideas for next year's party. The dance floor was light weight, and easy to assemble and disassemble. We will definitely be renting the floor again. The service was great and easy and the building was very easy to get to. I would recommend and use Special Events again.

They cheated me. Saying things were missing when they clearly weren't. I guess that's how they nickle and dime you to increase their profits. Staff in the back at drop off and returns were disorganized and argumentative. I never had this problem with other rental companies.

I had a great experience with Special Event Rentals Calgary. It was easy to place my order, pick up the items and drop them off. All the staff are very friendly and their showroom is very nice. I was especially impressed when I called to change my return date as I didn't want to drive on Monday when the roads were bad and they had no issue extending my rental.
This is the third time we've used Special Special event rentals and it was an easy, convenient transaction. The only thing I would suggest to streamline things is to offer an online method for approving credit card authorizations and contract signatures. Having to print and fax copies can be a pain when most people don't have a fax machine.

I rented six white Louis chairs in June for my wedding. unfortunately not all of them arrived as there were 4 backs missing. I called the after hours number and they said they would call me back. A couple hours later they returned my call and said they would deliver it the next day. Luckily I had picked up the chairs on Thursday and discovered the issue that day, so the chairs were put together in time for our Saturday wedding.
We used Special Event Rentals for our Family Reunion in Kananaskis, AB. Our family was impressed with the nice BBQ and ease of use. The BBQ worked well and was an easy clean up. We also rented coffee urns which worked very well for a larger group (around 65 people). The banquet tables were a nice large size and really came in useful. The equipment was great, but I had a very rude a prude Representative. She was not helpful at all, her customer service skills are terrible. We not use special events again, because of that very experience. I feel that when your giving a company $3400.00 or more for an event and have used them for all your events in the previous years, the quality of customer service should be top notch. I did not ask much but every thing that I asked was a issue. My advice use smaller company's, they tend to have better customer service as they truly care about the customer and know that it is very important to give them a good experience.
We used Special Event Rentals for a celebration we were hosting in our back yard. The customer service was excellent, and the folks delivering the tables, chairs, linens and glassware were quick and efficient. The pieces we rented were in excellent condition, and were just perfect for our event. I would recommend Special Events and will use them again.

These guys rent, for any event!
We rented tables and chairs and both were great quality. Chairs had detachable cushions that were comfortable and stayed on the chairs via velcro on the bottom. Guests commented on the simple but elegant look of the silver chairs with white cushions. Delivery and pickup process was easy and convenient and vendor was very responsive.
Working with Special Event Rentals was overall a good experience. Quick pick up and drop off, appropriate pricing and the equipment looked nice. The only issues we ran into was trouble setting it up ourselves but we figured it out.

After forgetting to order the tables and chair for our very large Christmas dinner, I was frantically calling around on Dec 23 to all the rental companies I could think of. I called one company and they declined my request, stating that they did not want to get the chairs from the warehouse as it was the last day of work before Christmas. I called Special Event Rentals and they said they would have them ready within a half hour and I could pick them up anytime before they closed. Their staff were very friendly and accommodating! Thank you to the whole team for giving all 30 of our Christmas guests a place to sit and enjoy their dinner.

Rental order was accurate and linens were all cleaned, pressed and folded or on hangars. The wooden archway was warped and needed "persuasion" to put together though.

I've had terrible experiences with this company. As an event planner working in Banff and Calgary, I encourage anyone to try and source out if you can. While they claim to have great customer service, their representatives are condescending and not solutions focused. Myself and the company I work with dealt with them for two large scale events and ran into a few problems that would have been avoided if they were truly committed to the client and the event. They don't label their gear so some of our chairs got mixed with the venues, which were identical. They tried to charge me 450 dollars for missing chairs which were mixed in with the venues. I recently used them at the Banff Centre and all of our gear was left in a pile outside of the venue- without anyone having called or communicated with us. When confronting them about this, they were unresponsive and didn't see this as being an issue. Both representatives were very defensive to deal with and condescending and always referring to "the contract" versus what worked best for the event. While all other stakeholders shared positive experiences, this was the only stressful partnership we witnessed. It was extremely frustrating to work with. Because they are the only event rental company in Banff, it is very clear that ultimately, the client doesn't matter. Their reputation in town is poor, but because Banff is thriving, they will get business regardless, which is what their customer service exudes. Definitely be aware and definitely stand up for your expectations!

Denise and all of the other staff were wonderful to work with. They were friendly, professional and extremely helpful. The contract was simple to read and understand and there were no hidden costs or fees. The selection is extensive, all of the items arrived in pristine condition and the delivery was on time (even on a Sunday) I would, and will, recommend Special Event Rentals to anyone planning an event, they made the process so easy and enjoyable. I have used Special Event Rentals for two years in a row to attend Diner en Blanc. This is a convenient and low cost way to supply the table, chair and linens for the evening. Not to mention it eliminates all of the running around to find the items. All the rentals are in great shape, the customer service is great from the rental to pick up and drop off of the items.
Recently rented a bunch of stuff for our wedding - couldn't have had better service! The chairs weren't cheap plastic chairs, and everything came on time. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!
Special Event Rentals was great - all the staff were friendly and helpful! Denise, our sales rep was especially helpful. We had to do an unplanned rental on short notice. She helped to get the best budget for us as well as some alternatives for rentals that were not available for us on short notice. As well, she took time to teach us how to do the linens in different ways. Always felt that everyone was patient and answered even simple questions and took time to explain everything. Very helpful for first time renters. We will feel more comfortable renting again and would use Special Event Rentals again in the future.
I was so very lucky that I called on a Friday at 4:30PM needing a rental prize wheel to be ready for pick up in less than 30 minutes and they were able to make it happen for me and for my client! The entire process was so easy, I will absolutely use them again.

This has been our second year using Special Event Rentals for an end of year event. The equipment was delivered on time and setup was quick. The employees were very helpful throughout the process making sure we had everything we needed.

They make up "policies" along the way... it's not in the fine print, nor documented any where - and they don't tell you until 2-3 weeks in, because it's not widely known by their own staff, or until 10 revisions of the contract later. Owners don't do the right thing, nor even acknowledge a mistake on their part, even when they dropped the ball. Save yourself the headache and use Chair Flair instead, they go above and beyond and own up to any mistakes. Details below: CONS: - Our sales associate was friendly both times I met with her in person, prompt with e-mails and her responses, and offered some good suggestions on décor, which we did appreciate. However, her attention to detail seemed lacking given the fact we had to revise the contract upwards of 12 times, and it got to the point where I had to spell out what line item to delete and what to add... so essentially doing part of her job... luckily I deal with contracts on a regular basis in my professional life. - One of the biggest issues we had with this entire process was that from day 1, we had made it clear that chairs and a few other rental items were to be used at both the ceremony and the reception, which were in 2 different locations. We asked our SA both times in-person confirming that we would not be responsible for paying for those items twice, and both times she reassured us that would be the case and that it only shows up twice because of how the system operates. It wasn't until 2-3 weeks in, and a week before the wedding where we were told it was "policy". - Legally, if a company has a policy it needs to be in writing under terms and conditions and/or fine print of the contract - this "travel policy" not only was it dropped at the 10th revision of the contract, a few weeks after our initial meeting, was not in writing, and obviously was not made clear to staff. - We ended up calling the head office at the Edmonton location, and they were not aware of this "policy". In fact the staff even tried to help us out, but because the branches operate separately, they were not able to do anything for us. - It was also very disappointing that even after escalation, owners would not make an exception when it's SER that didn't follow proper protocols. This alone is why I would not recommend SER. - Owners unwillingness to accept and acknowledge this fail on their part, to do the right thing (sometimes that should take precedence than just running a business), and lack of attention to detail by our rep resulting in me doing part of her work - Extremely negative. Pros: - Pick up & drop off/warehouse staff was very smooth - positive. - GM/Sales Manager definitely made an effort to help us out, and maintained a very professional and good attitude. Although we didn't get what we wanted in the end, her efforts did not go unnoticed and were appreciated. She did go above and beyond in trying to help US out, as opposed to just getting more business for SER, (i.e. doing the right thing). That was positive, too bad the owners didn't share the same attitude.

The website was all the information and when I called the sales representative was able to answer my questions and provide additional information about what I might need. My husband went to picked up at their location in Calgary SE and the process was really straight forward. They return was easy as well. I will definitely use this company for my next venue.
I rented some items from CalgarySpecialEventRental for my wedding. Their show room was neat, clean and inspiring. The staffs were extremely friendly and helpful. I received a 10% discount automatically. Pick-up and Drop-off times were flexible. The overall experience was excellent.

The products were in excellent shape. Denise was very helpful in helping me determine the sizes that I needed for my tablecloths and when I needed to make a change it was very simple. We use SER for various clients weddings and they are always on time, professional and extremely helpful. This past weekend they delivered chairs and tables for an outdoor ceremony and the two gentleman delivering were very helpful and accommodating. SER is a vendor I never have to worry about delivering what they promise.
