We used River City Events for the tent, table, chair, bar, podium and pipe & drape rentals for our wedding. We were absolutely blown away by the level of continuously exceptional customer service we received as we went through the planning stages over the past several months. In particular the numerous last minute changes we had right at the end due to trying to plan the wedding from another city with the weather forecast changing every other day... they just continued to be helpful, patient and polite. Everything turned out perfectly and we absolutely could not have done it without them. They turned my husbands late grandparents airplane hangar, very near and dear to our hearts, into our perfect wedding venue. Big shout out to Meganne and the delivery/set up crew for their great efforts and working with us every step of the way.

Then the delivery guys - they were professional, fast, and hard working. They sure worked up a sweat! We asked them how to best stack them for pickup and they gave clear, simple to follow instructions. The dropoff and pickup was easy. They phoned before arriving. Highly recommend! And if you're looking to save some money, they have some sales in the wintertime on rental bookings, I got mine in February. 10/10 service!!!

I have worked in hospitality for a total of 18 years, mostly management positions in Banquet Departments within Edmonton. For many years I have worked with rental companies. I just left my most recent position as a Banquet Manager at a downtown venue, in which I have had the pleasure to have River City Events as our supplier on a daily basis (for the past 3 years). Hands down, River City Events is the best event/rental company I have ever worked with. Where to start… They are more reliable and on time for deliveries than any other provider I have seen. It amazes me, but I know this is due to the team they have in place. They care about what they do, its important to them to demonstrate a higher standard. I’ve been on the receiving end of having rental company tear down staff not show up (leaving 1 guy to do hours of work) and rental companies showing up late… NOT FUN at 2am! That doesn’t happen at RCE. The quality is outstanding. Communication is encouraged as part of this process, as well as good order review practices so that items that are rented out are high quality. Linens are kept at a higher quality standard than any other services or systems I have worked with. Cutlery is neatly organized and packed, glasses and cutlery are so clean! Anything you need they have it and it is quality… tables, chairs, linens, games, tents, lighting, photo booth, even ice in coolers delivered for big events! I also ended up coordinating the purchase of some of River City’s used tables (basically like new) to update the quality of ours and it saved us a lot of money instead of buying new. The customer service is beyond remarkable. Every team member plays their part, the hard working girls on the front lines, the dedicated packing/delivery teams, wedding planning specialists (all of my brides and grooms who worked with RCE can tell you how happy they were with the planning and rentals too), and not to mention the hardworking supervisors/managers who do all the important planning/innovation and have gone the extra mile time and again to exceed expectations. A person gets to see the inner culture of a local business, and the magic (or lack of) that exists when you work with them day in and day out. River City has that spark, that genuine team and attitude that makes them something special. It makes it a pleasure to go there. If you go and say hello, you will see what I mean. Sorry for being a bit long winded, I figured after 3 very busy years they earned it. I will continue to call them for anything I need… you should too!

The staff were great. They were helpful understanding and very friendly. The columns, backdrop and table cloths were fantastic. They looked perfect exactly what the bride wanted for the wedding. They even had a staff member come in and set up the backdrop and head table. The only thing that brought it down to 4 stars is the price. I don't know if this is comparable to other companies but it was pricey in my mind. But it seems like everything to do with Weddings is expensive.

I was a little less pleased with the chairs I had selected online, but with one quick call to River City Events they offered to bring me new ones that they suggested would look better with the table I chose. They were 100% right, the table looked excellent with the chairs they suggested, and they re-delivered then to me within an hour with no extra charge for the wrong selection error on my part. River City was VERY prompt when responding to my requests, and they must have added to and taken things off my order 20 times in the months leading up to the wedding (and they did so happily). However, I believe I was very clear when placing my order for the curtained backdrop. I did it over the phone, but I had to phone a few months later and then visit them in person because they had the order wrong twice, even though I had referenced a picture in their catalogue both times. It was frustrating, but because of the miscommunications they took 10% off my bill. Overall, I was happy with the service and results.

When picking up, one of the tables were missed, unfortunately. If you haven't had a chance to be at an event designed by River City Events, you are missing out. We were married last weekend and I knew from the first day of planning I didn't want to decorate my own wedding. We started with renting decor and having the River City team put together our dream wedding. Over the months of planning, we realized we wanted someone to be there to help our big day run smoothly. We had been meeting with Chelsea to figure out our decor for a few months and then asked her to be our wedding day coordinator. If you do one thing for yourself on your wedding day, hire her! We dealt with quite a bit of stress leading up to the day from other vendors but Chelsea was always there to help or offer a suggestion. We chose River City Events for our wedding rentals. they were nothing short of amazing through the whole process! they were able to make recommendations on what I needed and how much, and their policys are awesome. I was able to change my invoice right up until my wedding date. They are so quick with responses as well. We had a problem with the tent heater during the wedding and we were able to get them on the phone at 10pm to help troubleshoot. They offered a full refund for the malfunction as well. 10/10 recommend!

I’m pretty disappointed with my experience for the rentals from my wedding. They misquoted us on our drapery, which we verified 3 times, and then charged my credit card card for their error without even letting us know or getting approval to charge my credit card. They sent us wrong linen, so we had to wait hours to get the correct linen. We were then charged for both sets of linen (the wrong one and the right one). Again they charged my card without notice or permission. This charge was eventually reversed after a lot of back and forth. Additionally, we received broken chairs in our chair rentals, and had to pick and choose which chairs to place in the aisle as the majority of the chairs are in rough condition.

I am so totally blown away with the service at River City Rentals. Stephani assisted me with picking out all of our linens for our wedding. I had something in mind and she offered suggestions that worked within the theme of our wedding. I had to add a couple of extra linens and gold mercury votives on after we had outlined the original contract and it was no issue to add these on after the fact. Something must be going on with the company to have such a high staff turn over rate in such a short amount of time. From the time we went to the showroom to view their products and get a quote, we dealt with 3 different people in regards to our order. We did have to make some changes to our order, as we didn't think the set up fee for plugging in some lights and draping a head table would be a few hundred dollars. We kept getting follow up emails about our consultation when we were deciding what to do, but they never got my responses. When we decided to rent the up lighting and head table draping/swag...whatever they call it, without paying them to set it up, I asked if everything would be included for us to set it up ourselves. The person I was dealing with said everything that was rented would include everything needed to set up. We paid our deposit and I inquired a couple weeks prior to the wedding when the final amount had to be paid off. The lady told me she would contact me a week prior to our wedding date. The day before our wedding, I realize that we still hadn't been contacted. I emailed...nothing. I called and spoke to some one else, who informed me that person was no longer with the company. Fair enough, but I should not have to be the one calling to make final payments! At least she told me that everything was all ready to go for the next day. The morning of our wedding, my fiance gets a call from one of the people we have setting up our hall. There are no pins to set up the head table draping! He called and spoke to someone at River city on what to do. She gave him some suggestions on how to set it up, but pretty much said that they could go out and buy pins, or pick some up from their office. They didn't have time to do this! The banquet manager was also trying to help them set the draping up, but said the material was so heavy that pins would not hold it up. She is used to working with much lighter material for what we wanted. The overlays looked like what I saw "draped/swagged" over the head table in the showroom, so I assumed we would be supplied with what we needeed to set this up. I contacted the company and the owner got back to me 5 days later. He said he was aware of the situation and that they are a rental compnay, not decorators. If I had wanted things the way I had envisioned, I should have spent the extra money to hire professionals to get the job done. They did everything they could to help, as they spoke with someone on the phone multiple times, offering suggestions. Supplying pins is not their job, nor was it part of the contract. I already had overlys for the tables, but wanted to make the head table look nicer, so spending extra money on overlays for our head table was NOT what I had in mind. The owner mentioned that the overlays were returned used. What were we supposed to do...take them off before sitting down??? The owner took no responsibility, saying they did their job and explained it as a miscommunication. Maybe this wouldn't have happened if we didn't have to deal with 3 different staff members!
