Although well-mannered. I later found out he was extremely overpriced compared to other electricians. A GFCI outlet alone costed $120.00 which you can buy them as cheap as under $3.00 up to $20.00 for one. On top of other fees, the grand total to fix an outlet was over $400, he also gave me a 10% discount and I felt grateful at that moment. This place is clearly dishonest with pricing, I would not recommend you to this place.

We woke up this morning to find that our furnace had died overnight, and with a rapidly cooling home. I called Karel, who was able to immediately schedule us in (and was over in less than an hour!). He was rapidly able to identify the problem with our furnace, source a replacement part, and finish the fix in a matter of hours. Amazing! And during the process, Karel gave clear explanations on what he was doing and gave helpful advice on how I should maintain the furnace and our electrical system going forward. Our furnace stopped working due to an issue with our electrical panel. I had no idea where to start looking for an electrician. Calling DE KONING was the best thing I could have done. Karel modified his schedule and arrived 90 minutes after I called. He swiftly rectified the problem and everything is working! Very happy with the service, he gave me different options on his service fee's before arriving. I found his rates to be very reasonable and he did a great job fixing my electrical problem. It took him a while but he figured out the problem where other contractors couldn't! I had some renovation work done to the basement a few years ago and added more outlets to an existing system. My problem was that aluminum wiring was used at that time, although it is still a safe system but be leery of the wire connectors in the junction boxes, over tightening them can present problems , it can weaken the connection (unlike copper wiring which is stronger) If the wiring gets overheated at those connectors but not enough to trip the breaker it loses connection and then no power to the outlets and lights was the problem I had.Great job Karel!

I called this company on a Saturday afternoon to request an emergency repair to a natural gas line for a kitchen stove. After calling 8 other companies they were the only one that actually answered the phone. They were onsite within one hour, repaired the gas line, and detected another minor leak in the gas line for the water heater. Karel was very professional, knowledgeable, and explained the entire repair process. Pricing was very reasonable. I would definitely use this company again.

We have been using De Koning Electrical and Mechanical, at least since 2015 and are extremely well pleased with both the work and the other important things like communication, showing up on time etc. Jobs have included upgrading an electrical panel from fuses to circuit breakers, installing stove fan, and various light fixtures and dimmer switches. Description of the work and the cost is clearly explained up front. And if you like to know the how or the why of your electrical issues, that can also be provided. Very highly recommended!

called Karel at 6:50pm, arrived at 7:15pm, fixed my issue around 8:30pm including a trip to home depot (I brought a natural gas valve which is for indoor use only, but my work is needed for outdoor). very professional and done excellent work, not only for the issue I told Karel, but all other small thing as long as he sees and he will take care of them, including the final touch. thumbs up for Karel!

We encountered an issue with our indoor sauna when it suddenly stopped working. After doing some research, we selected DE KONING Electrical & Mechanical find out what the problem is and fix it. Karel was the electrician who arrived at our house and I could tell that I immediately liked the guy. He began to analyze the sauna controller, wiring, etc to determine the issue. After figuring it out, he was able to explain to me what happened in a clear and concise manner - and I have no electrical background. Additionally, he pointed out some other areas for concern while confirming it by showing me readings from his instruments. After we discussed potential remediation options, we selected one which Karel was comfortable with and that worked best for our situation. He was able to finish the agreed upon work in a timely manner. All in all, I was very impressed with Karels knowledge and work ethic. In the future, I would not hesitate calling him again for any electrical projects and highly recommend him to family, friends and anyone else. Zack

Luckily I contacted De Koning electrical and received excellent service from Karel. He provided an estimate, equipment required and timeline of repair and delivered exceptional service. I found several electrical issues upon arriving to my new house. One light switch was not turning off one of the lights on the hallway and the other light switch produced spark just by the touch of my fingertips. I immediately called Karel and he came to the rescue. He quickly discovered that the builder who wired my home 12 years took a shortcut in wiring all outlets and switches by breaking several building codes. Karel replaced most of the switches and outlets, and also replaced all the smoke detectors. I was very pleased with his professionalism as well as his eagerness to shars his knowledge to his customers. He always tell you straight up any issues that he detects during his diagnosis and gives you the option to either fix it or deal with it in the future. It's tough to find honest and reliable professional these days but Karel stands by his motto "A name you can trust..A service you can depend on". I would definitely work with Karel again in the future.

I'm a bit late sending this review. I was very pleased with Karel's prompt response in Feb this year to diagnose what seemed like an electrical problem with my clothes dryer. He came the same day I contacted him and replaced the main plug outlet that appeared faulty which seemed to correct the problem. However when I went to actually use the dryer it would not continue working. I called Karel and he came right away and replaced the main switch in the hydro box - no charge. I have not had any problems since. Thank you Karel!
