Great working with this Company. Competitive pricing and efficient scheduling for the work to be done. We have used them 3 times now and have been very satisfied with the job done. The technicians are prompt and polite and clean up after themselves. Would recommend them to friends and family.

Rob Vallance

Worked as sub to main contractor doing kitchen Reno. Completely satisfied with workmanship as well as coordination with others during fast tracked schedule. Trades need to take more time to cleanup prior to demobilizing.

Update: Hi All, this is a SECOND REVIEW for PTN. We just used them to install a Level 2 car charger for our new electrical vehicle and it's once again 5/5 stars. I would give them more stars if I could. Cathy coordinated everything and took ownership over all our needs, including looping in the owner John who answered all my extra questions and dealing with Hydro One on our behalf to save us time. They came in under budget on their quote, and the install went PERFECTLY. It was an excellent experience start to finish. If you have any electrical install needs of any kind, I would HIGHLY recommend using PTN above anyone else. Hi All, I would recommend this company for anything you need. They were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They provided a quote accurately and quickly, and followed up consistently. They completed the work on time and went above and beyond to make sure the result was exactly what we wanted. Will be using them for all future electrical projects.

I called PTN Electrical Solutions to repair a few outlets with the hopes of scheduling their time to place new wire and overhead lighting; pot lights in my living room as well as a ceiling fan in the master and an overhead light in one of the spare bedrooms. Nothing short of impressive! Ian, Chris and the rest of the gang were professional, friendly and very efficient. Also cleaned up After themselves with minimal cleanup after they were done. Five out of five stars as well as two thumbs up! I'll definitely call PTN Electrical Solutions for all my electrical needs going forward and recommend PTN for anyone requiring electrical work. Hell of a job guys... thanks again!

Reasonable rates, good work!

More than doubled my other estimate ($3000 vs $1300) to exchange a 60 amp fuse panel to a 100 amp breaker panel with a 200 amp meter base. Save your money and go with a personable small business with great reviews and friendly service just half a km west of this place on Emery street called Current Electric. And look down below, this isn't the only negative review due to overcharging for electrician's services, and that one deals with even worse - dishonesty with an estimate - requiring us all to always have documented record of your quotes (digital or paper). This is irresponsible, because their high prices and dishonest quotes drive more people to avoid hiring an electrician where they should have resulting in more risk and downstream potential damages.

Friendly staff very knowledgeable

The whole team at PTN is amazing. Professional, quick, and great communicators. I've had them in twice now and they're my go-to for any residential work.

Aji Dhillon

PTN upgraded our electrical panel. Ian and Graham, the electricians doing the work, found a number of mistakes made by previous "electricians" who had on our panel. They fixed all of these at no extra charge. The work was done on Friday afternoon, when most people are in a rush to go home and enjoy their weekend. The problems put them behind schedule, and rather than rush the job, they worked late got the job done properly.

Paul Samoluk

Excellent service from start to finish, very professional, punctual and respectful. We already had two jobs completed with PTN Electrical and will certainly use them in the future.

I'm very happy with the work that the guys from PTN Electrical provided. Because of the type of work I need done they worked by the hour. In the two and a half hours they were here they did a lot of work. I'm pleased not just because of the amount of work they did but also because of the knowledge they applied to the problems I was having. They did a panel inspection and fixed an issue I knew I had with it, they problem-solved an issue I was having with my kitchen appliances, fixed what they could, and told me the next steps to take to resolve the issue. I followed their advise and the issue was fully resolved within a couple of hours of them leaving. They're coming back in a couple of weeks to continue the work. I know I'm going to be a repeat customer of theirs, especially over the next couple of months as I replace outlets and light figures throughout the house.

Main panel upgrade. Everything was thoroughly explained ahead of time and quote given. They took care of everything with city hydro and inspections etc. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Final product was done beautifully, clean and professional looking, much better than other companies that have done some work for me. Job took A LOT longer than expected and staff stayed very late into the night to restore power to the house before leaving. Even with all the additional hours, they stuck to the price quoted! Highly recommend this company.

The Gribble Grobble

PTN was highly recommended to us. They did a medium-sized, multi-part residential job. Carefully quoted and explained the details, always responsive to calls and concerns. Delays were related to the city. A few months later and we are without issues, and will recommend PTN to friends.

Christina Stanley

PTN has done work for me on two separate occasions, including a panel replacement in a century old home (it was a nightmare of wiring) and more recently installation of electrical for a laundry centre and a few pot lights. On both occasions, the quote and job completion process was smooth and easy. Paul and the guys have always done a great job and I will be using them again in the future. I would give them 6 stars if I could!

Susan Godin

Before having our century old home insulated in 2018, PTN updated the electricity. They arranged analysis of the existing vermiculite insulation for asbestos to keep everyone safe. A detailed home inspection, a list of needs and fair estimate followed, including costs of inspection, labour and materials, an ESA permit and HST. PTN electricians consulted with us and found creative solutions to several challenges posed by the age of the property. Such a pleasure to work with these people and to know the house is safe. This year when we needed an electric vehicle charger installed, who did we call? PTN. Courteous, competent, efficient and competitively priced.

Matthew Clooney

I cannot say enough good things about PTN. They are prompt, courteous, and willing to go that extra mile. Paul and the guys have literally saved me twice now, and their office manager Cathy is an absolute joy to deal with. I have had them in for my basement, living room, stairwell, bathroom and bedrooms, and will be using them for our upcoming kitchen reno. It feels good being able to say I know a good electrician. But having such an amazing team as PTN Electrical is the absolute best.

The Rej

I have used their services 3 times now and each time their work is excellent. They take their time, never cut corners and are tidy and neat. Their prices are in line with other quotes and they are quick to respond to any questions/concerns. Highly recommended.

Linda Bell

PTN Electrical has taken care of all our electrical needs for several years. Their work has always been excellent. We have been very impressed with every electrician who has come out to our house. They are very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. We cannot recommend them highly enough. Also, Cathy who answers the phone and makes sure everything goes as it should, is amazing.

Elise O'Hara

The gentleman that came from PTN was wonderful. He was early and spoke to both myself and my husband explaining what he was going to do and how. The work was done quickly and smoothly. I will definitely use them again!

Justin Kelly-Boxe

We needed to hardwire 7 smoke alarms after having already painted and finished renovations. The PTN team came in and did a fantastic job- there was no excessive damage, they were precise with their work, and they cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. They provided us with a detailed quote and plan of action in advance and stuck to it. It was also nice to see that they had an apprenticing electrician on the team that day. The team was doing a great job of integrating him and giving him experience. Overall, they were extremely friendly, timely and easy to deal with. Would recommend for any jobs in your home!

Tara Drennan

Cut my electricity due to it being a fire hazard. Which is great it was caught. Was told they would call me to come back as they needed to call london hydro. That was a week ago still no call. Left us in the dark and charged me a ton to come out for less then an hour.

Theresa Parker

They rewired our hole house, great crew. Job was awesome went back again for our garage build and again great job done.

B Bour

We would just like to thank you guys and especially Ian and Ryan for the great work they did and also their professionalism and communication from them during the past 3 days for our wiring and panel change. It is sometimes forgotten how these traits in a business and employees make a world of difference :) If we ever need any more work done or know friends that do we will not hesitate to recommend your company

Melissa Richard

Great service getting my electric vehicle charger installed. I have had PTN do two chargers for my electric cars over the past 4 years. Both were installed quickly. Best of all, they were on time. Always a concern when waiting for sevice people to come. Friendly service. Good work at a fair price.

Heather Macdonald

PTN installed new electrical service, removed the old wiring and added many new circuits and fixtures to our 75 year old home. The PTN team are professional, thorough and meticulous in their work. All work was completed on schedule and on budget. The team was respectful of our privacy and took the time to explain things to me in a way I could easily understand. Communication with Graham was informative and timely. From the first visit to my home I felt we were in good hands!

Leslie L

They did a quick, efficient and proper job fixing my busted wiring for lighting fixture. Price was competitive with other places I checked with. Will be sure to use their service in the future when I need it.

Michael Crusz

Paul and his team were excellent, the pricing was very fair and the work was done exceptionally. They paid great attention to our needs and practiced good safety whiel working during this pandemic.

I have never been so deceived by a company. I called the office, explained the job I needed done and was quoted by the hour... That's it. 2 hours, 65$/hour 45$ call charge. Reasonable. No mention of how the cost would go up for more electricians to show up or how they expected that job to take 3 times as long. Fast forward to day of the job. 2 electricians show up, take 3 times as long as she had suggested it would take, were on their phones, and vacuuming (even after I specifically asked them not to... I didn't want to pay by the hour for that). The job took a ridiculously long time to do for changing light fixtures and receptacles. As far as I could tell, there weren't any complications and the job was straightforward. Fast forward another few days and I get my bill. THEY CHARGED ME DOUBLE PER HOUR. Overall, the cost of the job was triple what they suggested it would be because of how much longer it took and the fact that there were 2 people instead of 1. Do not trust that they will do the job for what they quote you. Get a quote for the JOB in writing from these people because this was just flat out ridiculous. If for whatever reason you do chose to go with these people, take their time estimation, triple it and the hourly cost and double it. That is your quote. Had I realized this would cost me an arm and a leg, I would have continued shopping around (their over the phone quote was reasonable) and definitely would not have gone with them. Disgusting business practice to deceive people this way and hide the true cost of the job. If you have communication issues, that's your fault, but as soon as the scale of the cost went past what the person in the office told me it would be, you need to stop the job and let me make that decision. I understand costs change, but you need to make the customer aware of these things before you proceed. You can't just do a job outside the scale of expectation secretly and then tell someone they HAVE to pay for it... If you hired me to paint a room and I decided to paint the whole house without consulting you, am I allowed to charge you for that? Probably not. Can you see why this is wrong? Anyhow, I just wanted to do everyone else the favour of knowing what you're getting into and what my experience was.

I wanted to say that we’ve enjoyed having Jim do the electrical work for us. He is very professional and dedicated to doing good work. I appreciate the training he offers to his younger worker and the tips he provides like making sure they leave no finger prints on the ceiling. I recommend these guys anytime! Thank you, Sylvie.

When a minor renovation glitch uncovered a much larger problem, PTN was there to save the day. When I was switching out an electrical outlet, our electrical panel began arcing, smoking and buzzing when I went to turn the breaker back on. After shutting off the main power, we called PTN. The owner, Paul Doody, promptly got back to me and dispatched Jonathan to assess the situation. Unfortunately, it was determined that our older electrical panel was failing, and was a huge fire hazard. The minor mishap with the outlet turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it uncovered what could have been a disastrous situation. Further complicating the panel replacement was that our electrical meter was no longer to code (1960's era home with electrical meter set into the brick). In order to get our power safely restored, PTN needed to liaise with London Hydro to have the hydro to the house shut off, break up a small section of our concrete patio with a jackhammer, and dig down approximately 4' to where the electrical lines entered our home. All this during with cold and wet late October weather! Jonathan worked diligently under a tarp outside without complaint for 3 days to fully replace the panel, electrical meter, etc. (along with help from Jimmy). At all times we were kept fully up-to-date on what was happening, anticipated timelines, etc. All staff of PTN that we dealt with from top to bottom were professional, conscientious and committed to minimizing the impact to us of being without power for 3 days, especially given that we decided to remain in the house. They even gave us use of their gas generator (including making sure we had gas to run it if needed) so that we could have power in the event we needed it! While we weren't anticipating this expense or inconvenience, we are so grateful for PTN's efforts to minimize both. We have dealt with PTN in the past for our electrical needs, and the reasons why were reinforced yet again with this latest experience. Thank you PTN -- you will continue to be our first call when we need an electrician and we will continue to wholeheartedly recommend you to family and friends!

Needed to get a ESA certification when selling my house and PTN took care of the inspection and required repairs quickly with a fair price.

Very professional, punctual and excellent quality of work. Installed electrical car charger at home.

Great work. Happy customer. Love my new shop with all the new options.

PTN Electrical came to my rental house in the summer and installed 3-in-1 smoke alarms throughout the house. They were very responsive, their pricing was great, and they scheduled the work within a fairly short time frame. They were tidy and precise, and it was nice to see that they had an apprentice on the team to help train the next generation. Would strongly recommend.

Toni Doody-Syrett

We are very sorry to hear about your experience with PTN Electrical, and we hope to set the record straight with regard to our company policies. PTN Electrical offer free estimates so that our customers have a detailed, written quotation and an expected cost before we start the work. But in some instances, we do have customers that ask us to complete the work without a quotation, because they want the work doing quickly. When we complete jobs this way, we base our price on time and materials, which is however long we are at the job, plus whatever materials we use. That means that the customer is charged for the first full hour, plus the cost of the call charge, which covers the running cost of the truck. We then charge for every thirty minute intervals thereafter. This pricing model is communicated over the telephone when customers call, and we are always careful to highlight that the electrician will not know how long it will take to do the job until they have seen the work required. It would be unfair to estimate how long you might take to do a job without first seeing what it entails. The particular job that this complaint is referring to, after a process of elimination, was to disconnect and remove five existing ceiling and wall lights, and to replace them with new lights, provided by the customer. These lights had been purchased off the internet and were not straight forward to install, as it was necessary to modify the mounting plates prior to fitting. The job also entailed disconnecting and removing seventeen receptacles and ten light switches, replacing them with new, again provided by the customer. Some of these switches were not fit to install and had to be replaced by PTN for the correct type. The work was conducted in a high rise apartment building in downtown London, where parking and access were an issue. It was necessary to transport ladders, tools and other equipment to the apartment, plus there was the trip back to the truck to find suitable switches. Another obstacle that had to be negotiated during the visit was that the customer was working from home. The customer was on conference calls, so it was difficult to turn off the power to work safely without disrupting these calls. This meant waiting for the right opportunity to conduct the work safely, as the Ontario Electrical Safety Code & the Occupational Health and Safety Act does not allow us to work live on equipment. We had a two-person team on the job that day, a licensed electrician and a registered apprentice, which is usual. PTN Electrical fully supports the apprentice training program and sends our apprentices on jobs in order for them to learn the trade and to save time completing the work. Time is saved by the apprentice carrying out the labouring work for the electrician at a substantially reduced rate. This also impacts the amount of time necessary to complete the job, which saves the customer money. As it was, it took the team five hours to complete the job. This was a perfectly acceptable time-frame for the amount of work that was involved and would compare favourably with industry standards. PTN Electrical is an honest and fair organization and has a very good reputation for exceeding our customers’ expectations. One of the ways we do this is to clean up after ourselves, so that the customer is not left with a mess. We leave your property as we find it. This is the first instance that a customer has complained about us cleaning up. The team was in constant communication with the customer throughout the visit, explaining what was happening at every step of the way. The invoice was sent to the customer for the amount of time it took to complete the work, plus the materials used. We charged for what we were asked to do and nothing more. Perhaps if the customer had contacted us directly to complain, we would have had the opportunity to discuss their concerns in person.

We needed a full review of all electrical outlets in our home due to the presence of aluminum wiring in order to conform for our housing insurance. The team at PTN was very responsive and set up our first home appointment--Derek and his apprentice were great and very thorough and helped ensure that everything in our home was up to code. It was easy, in and out same day and no complaints. We would recommend PTN to anyone needing an electrician

These electricians were honest, efficient and very helpful in providing possible alternatives to current wiring system. They were prompt in their response with initial contact and quality of workmanship commendable. Thanks PTN!

The upgrading of an electrical service was completed as required and described as was coordination with London Hydro. Prior approval for the work by the Electrical Safety Authority suggests a good reputation for quality work. The latter was demonstrated by the PTN electrician who took obvious care and pride in his work resulting in a logically organized and beautiful panel. My thanks for a job well-done.

My wife and I decided some time ago to instal built in cabinetry in our bedroom. We hired PTN to change the position of a wall outlet in our bedroom prior to this installation, along with some other electrical jobs we need them to complete at the same time. The service we received at this initial visit from this company was first rate. They were on time, knowledgable, pleasant and the cost was reasonable. Unfortunately we cannot say the same about our experience with the cabinet makers, but as this is a review of PTN, I will only say that the company rhymes with Stalin's. Anyway this cabinet company, after we moved the outlet as they had requested, later contacted us to say that on review of the drawings for the cabinets, the position of another outlet also needed to be changed. Again, in a timely and professional manner, PTN came to our home and made this additional change to another bedroom outlet. So now when "Stalin's" came to install the cabinets, this required drilling into the studs behind the walls of our bedroom. Of course they managed to drill directly into a wire going through the middle of a stud, causing a short and loss of power to 2 rooms, one of which is an office that absolutely needed to stay functional for my medical practice. The was now an emergency situation for us, and we called PTN once again and explained the situation. Within literally just a few minutes PTN was in our home, they actually followed the cabinet guys in and were working on the problem before we even new they were there. This was a difficult problem to solve and required cutting out large portions of dry wall. The guys from "Stalin's" exited our house in a rush shortly after 5, leaving PTN to finish fixing and cleaning up the mess they had caused. Despite the challenge of this repair, PTN stuck with it until the damage was corrected and power was restored. We have had bad luck hiring companies in general, "Stalin's" being one of them. However, we have nothing but good things to say about PTN's professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond to help us in a very difficult and stressful situation. I would recommend this company in a heartbeat. And that, unfortunately, doesn't happen very often these days.

The Grace Cafe @ 10 Queen St. in St Thomas, a Soup Kitchen and Street Mission, is most grateful to PTN for their kindness and diligence in upgrading our electrical needs. They have always been more than fair with their pricing and speedy service. The Grace Cafe considers PTN as our Official Electricians. Thanks PTN, job well done!
