Shane from Birnie Home Safe was the lead electrician who did an initial inspection and then refurbishment of my home's entire electrical system. During the initial inspection, Shane noticed that the breaker for my A/C unit was arcing, and he was able to remedy the issue right away. The entire refurbishment took almost two weeks, including an upgrade of the electrical panel. The total cost was very reasonable and I am very happy with the results. My entire electrical system is now properly grounded and protected with a whole-home surge protector. The folks from Birnie Home Safe were a joy to work with. They were very flexible as the work proceeded, and were able to install modern lighting as part of the refurbishment, along with interconnected smoke/CO2 detectors. I would very highly recommend Birnie Home Safe for any electrical work, up to and including a major refurbishment. I most definitely feel much safer in my home now that the refurbishment has been completed.

The electrian goes about his work in a professional manner and takes the time to explain what he's found and how he's corrected it. The office staff have also been great when I've corresponded with them over email with various questions. I had heard the Adverts and talk sessions on News Talk 1010 about this company, so they were a natural to go after living for 15 years in our home and avoiding inspections and those odd electrical jobs of some lights or plugs not working or needing replacement, along with the unknown factors that keep you awake at night. From the first phone call to the conclusion of the job, this company were a joy to deal with. Nobody likes the cost of these services / jobs but at the end of the day, this was money deserved and well spent. Amazing Service, nice to see a Lady on the team as that always helps when working in people's homes and my wife was there rather than myself. From start to finish we had 3 people work for 5 days to replace almost every electrical plug and switch in the house plus various other upgrades for not only peace of mind and the all important "code" but also helped in the sale of our home. Could not fault them in any aspect of their service, rare to find in todays world.

I have been listening to Frank Cohn’s Home Improvement (RenoMark) show for years which features BIRNIE HomeSAFE. What stuck with me is the positive customer feedback and their message that just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean that hidden dangers are not lurking in one of the most important and potentially most dangerous systems of the house. Upon moving into our new house I thought our electrical system was fine. I was wrong there were areas that I could not overlook. After having Shane complete a thorough electrical inspection he recommended areas to upgrade to current electrical code standard. After the inspection Michael came over to discuss the report to determine what aspects to proceed with and to answer any questions. I decided that the most cost effective way was to proceed with all the recommendations. It made no sense to put off work that would eventually have to be done. For example, panel breakers could have been up to 45 years old. They don’t last forever. Having breaker failure was not a risk I was willing to take. Shane and Dave were tasked to carry out the upgrade. They are very professional and darn nice guys. All my priority areas were properly addressed. Their attention to detail was very comforting. Overall the workmanship that they displayed was in stark contrast to the old electrical work. Maybe the work previously done was up to code but not acceptable by today’s standards. With the potential of crazy weather knocking out the power and of course the brief outages which we frequently experience the addition of a surge protector along with the electrical system upgrades has given me peace of mind I was seeking.

Birnie is a first-rate organization from start to finish: the initial sales visit with Michael, the risk assessment by Steve, a subsequent telephone discussion with Michael and Colin with assurance from Colin that lead us to our decision to have the remedial work done, to Samantha’s coordination and communication skills in keeping us informed of the days when the work would be done and finally to the skilled, knowledgeable lead electrician Derek who patiently answered my many questions and the rest of team that did the work, Terry and Austen. My wife appreciated the daily cleanup and disposal of waste. We feel safe!

Birnie Home Safe replaced and upgraded the main electrical panel to 125 Amp, and installed a complete home surge protection system to the panel. They replaced 68 receptacles, 32 switches, 16 fixtures, and added 3 smoke detectors. The entire process was pleasant beginning with Michael and ending with Alex and Terry, who completed the work. They are knowledgeable, professional and personable. They are “the crème de la crème.” They took the time to explain the unsafe conditions, then made the necessary corrections. They pay great attention to every detail, nothing is left to question. They always vacuumed whatever minimal mess that was caused and were meticulously tidy. All work is done to code, there are no short cuts. The Electrical Safety Authority inspects the work and provides a Certificate of Inspection. We’re extremely pleased with the improvements and no longer experience dimmed lights throughout the house. The LED fixtures are so much brighter, and of course consume much less energy.
