$123 service fee just to come in and figure out what needs to be done is ridiculously high. It’s probably nothing if you are a big corporation. But for small businesses it adds up. I got a quote for $1200 to install 2 ikea ceiling light fixtures . Super expensive if you are trying to do minor repairs . I did call them to see if they could refund me half the money for just the visit which I think would be fair. But they were very stubborn on their decision to charge me $123 service fee ( for just coming and quoting me the price for the job ) because it was “ agreed upon “. Anyways , not recommended for minor electrical work. At the end of the day I felt like I woke up this morning , paid 123 $ to an electrician to tell me it’s gonna be 1200 more for fixing these Ikea lights . So that’s that . Ugh .

I think I made it absolutely clear that I have no problems with Tim as a person. He is kind, considerate and punctual. What I said to you was that "I didn't think he had the skills to take on this project". It was not an attack on his character. I am faxing you all the correspondence I could find from this transaction. You said that you did not send me something that said you would get back to me. Although I cannot find that info in my phone, I suspect that Tim might have it in his just like the text he sent Jan 15th asking for a service review. It is my policy as a person not to send a review before I give the company a chance to correct/explain any issues that arose during installation. I tried to give you that opportunity today. I realize it's been a long time since this install was done. I was waiting to hear back from you (just like the text from Tim shows) to discuss the problems I encountered. You made it very clear that you didn't want to hear about it and started right in on defending Tim. Again, I wasn't attacking him personally. I was only trying to tell you about the problems that arose but you did not want to hear about it. Shame, you may have learned something that would help in future jobs. You must also realize that despite the fact that you have a 100% Guarantee, I have asked you for nothing. I was only waiting to hear back from your company as you requested before I made a review on Facebook as asked in the text you sent when the job was completed. My experience with Home-Pro was very bad. I called them to find out why a breaker keeps tripping and when Paul, the manager, asked me about the brand, federal pioneer, he commented that those breakers are very bad and they fail a lot and most likely the problem is a faulty breaker though he cannot guarantee that. He charged me $249 for a new breaker, which I found out that at home depot it is $90, and $80 for a technician to show up. after the technician replaced the breaker, the brand new one tripped again (i.e. my existing breaker was fine!) what bugged me about this whole thing is that this Paul guy lied to about how bad those breakers are also he did not attempt to troubleshoot the existing break if it needed replacement. bunch of crooks and will never use them again!

I had great service from Shaun and would certainly recommend his work to anyone. He was friendly and courteous and resolved my issue with a GFCI and a light dimmer. He took the time to explain what the range of cost might be before the work and to make sure I was comfortable with that. I had a problematic circuit in my house. The CB tripped, but it did not indicate such; i.e. it did not shift to the tripped position. When I finally discovered this, no matter what I tried I could not reset the offending CB. Not being an expert, I figured I had a significant problem and resolved to bring in an expert. I called Home Pro Electric, the Cambridge number, and after a brief chat and with guidance from the professional on the other end of the phone, we managed to resolve my problem. Turns out is was a “difficult” CB that needed a little more force applied to it in order to reset it. No significant problem after all. Awesome customer service. As the man said, call Home Pro if I have “real” electrical problem. I certainly will. Thanks very much for the quick fix! Very much appreciated????

UPDATE 07-01-2021: During a severe thunderstorm 2 days ago we lost our whole TV, Bose speaker system, DVD, Bell Fibe, and Nintendo switch due to an AFCI failure during the storm (probably a power surge during a couple outages storm caused). I called the next day and they fit me in within the little time available before Canada Day, despite how busy they were. I really appreciate Tim and their whole professional team! Home-Pro Electric are very professional in their approach to dealing with my needs. They answered my call promptly and made sure I had all the information I needed. Before the technician arrived they even sent an email with a photo of what he would look like (for confirmation) and what time he would arrive. They are NOT one of those places that make you wait half a day for a technician to maybe show up. They gave me a narrow window of time, and he arrived within it. Even though the job was discussed with me over the phone, he walked me through the job again, and then carried it out perfectly, and my wife and I are delighted. Our outdoor lighting, front and back has been improved for security and safety. We have Home-Pro Electric to thank for that. Great job! We will be calling again.

This repair cost $459 even though it took only one-and-a-half hours and required no materials. It was 4.5 kilometres from the shop, and yet the rate included a $9 fuel surcharge (even though gas prices are currently low). When we first called about the bill, Brian told us it took a "chunk" of time. When checking with the tenants (who have no reason to misrepresent the time), we were told that the electrician was there from 10:00 to 11:30. When we said we would write a negative review, Brian said that he would respond that the tenant was not telling the truth, even before he checked with his electrician or the GPS which he says he puts on the truck. We are very, very experienced working with electricians who normally charge $75 - $100/hour. We own multiple buildings which we have renovated on a continuous basis, where we get quality work from all our service providers. The people who have given positive reviews on this website--if they were charged this much--obviously do not have a good idea of what electricians charge. $200 is more than sufficient for a small job like this. Yet, we were charged $459--bottom line--that's $270+/hour before tax. This is the first negative review we have ever written on a service provider but Brian was angry and insulting--and only offered to reduce the bill $79--when we expressed our concerns (saying every other electrician was a "Cheap Charlie" who does not do good work even though we have always been pleased with our former electricians but simply went with Home-Pro since they answered the phone on Saturday and agreed to come on Tuesday morning). Now I know why they can provide quick service. They are not busy with people who are in the know or willing to wait.

Friendly, knowledgeable and kind technician. However, good business to build relationships with customers means keeping it real with customers and being transparent. The 99$ flat fee is great, but the diagnostic fee is anywhere between 99-399$ roughly so your “flat fee” is actually closer to $500 before repairs. They don’t mention this until they are standing in your door and you owe 99$ already for 3 minutes of their time. That didn’t feel very good. 350$ to diagnose a loose wire behind an outlet here with minimal work needed. Not sure how a diagnosis could be much easier then that! Steep in price for sure, lack of transparency up front feels a bit jaded, but none the less my electrician problem was solved quickly, and like I mentioned the technician was friendly and explained his process which was appreciated. Happy with the work but will be pricing around before the next job.

I sent an email to Home-Pro Electric on Sunday night, and I heard back first thing on Monday morning to book an appointment. Really smooth process — Laura was awesome! The electrician, Tim, was at our house, on-time, with full COVID precautions first thing the next morning. He was great — super friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and fast. The best part was that he was able to provide us with the cost up front to avoid the worry about an hourly rate driving the cost up. He also had all of the parts and tools he needed with him, so that he didn't need to be coming and going from the house. He was in and out within 45 minutes. I am SO impressed with Home-Pro Electric Inc. Found them on the internet and really lucked out with this multiple award winning company. Called late yesterday and Shaun was here first thing this morning. He had to do a very complicated trace to find the source of the of problem in the factory added addition of a 30 year old trailer. Turned out a small junction box was damaged by a nail during the renovations yesterday. He was pleasant, patient and kind as he explained what he was doing and told me what he found, what happened and why as he turned on various tangential outlets as he went along. And he explained what was the best option for fixing the problem without tearing the place apart. In passing, he noted the ceiling fan on the affected circuit was ancient, blades coming apart and mentioned a great sale he'd seen in a local store's flyer. Half price, exactly what was needed. While he cleaned up and filled in his paperwork, I dashed out and got the fan, back in 15 minutes. For a reasonable additional company specified cost, he installed it for me. I now know the electrician I'll be calling on for help whenever needed for the rest of my life -- I'd recommend this company to anyone!

I base my selection of contractors on word of mouth and high Google reviews. I wanted to replace my old fuse panel with a new breaker panel for a basement reno. I chose Home Pro Electric based on their 85 five star reviews. Let me say...there is a reason why they have so many five star reviews. This company is Amazing!!! I called late one night...I believe it was a Wednesday (9pm) and Brian picked up the phone and answered all of my questions with extreme knowledge, patience and curtiousy. I asked him to come over whenever he could and provide an estimate. He said that he would call me the next day at 3pm to confirm if he was good for Friday. He gave me his word that he would call. The next day right dead nuts at 3pm he called and said that he was good for Friday to come over for the estimate. He came over and was very friendly, checked everything over and provided a very fair quote. A weekish later they replaced the panel. Tim the electrician went above and beyond the call of duty and completely exceeded my expectations. He nicely organized all the wires that were a total mess before and the new panel looks WONDERFUL!!! It is sad to say that there are so many companies out there that don't focus on customer service and doing great work. I am very happy to say that Home Pro Electric is NOT one of those companies. This company COMPLETELY ripped us off. We wanted an electrician to come and fix the lights in a section of our home which haven't been working for months (quarantine). They charged us $100 just to show up, then said it would be AN ADDITIONAL $389 to diagnose the problem, resulting in a >$500 charge before any work was done or any diagnosis was made. He was polite and professional throughout but the cost was exorbitant. We kindly asked him to leave after paying him his $123.16 for doing absolutely nothing at all. What a waste.

Was looking for someone to replace knob & tube wiring in my house. Required $400 for a "60-point" inspection before even willing to give me a quote on the replacement. The electrian who did the inspection was courtious and professional, but in the end didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. The inspection was not worth the money. Ended up quoting me a price for the replacement 3 times higher than a competing quote from a well known local electrical contractor. Home-Pro tried to tell me that the competition would destroy my house and do a bad job. Went with the lower quote and an very pleased with the results and the savings. Make sure you price check these guys and take what they say about the competition with a grain of salt.

Sarah and Shawn did work at my house. They were very perfessional and knowledgeable about the work being done. They completed the work ahead of schedule and to perfection. They had to run wires through existing drywall and initially it looked like they would have to take out part of the drywall or at least cut many holes in it. But, do to their skills and knowledge they were able to do the whole job with only making one small hole. Over all I was very happy with the quality of workmanship.

The quotation itself looked a bit unofficial and as if it was drafted in wordpad, and the cost was prohibitive compared to other quotes for the same work. I'm sure they're great large jobs or emergency work, but not for my panel replacement.

When I called Home-Pro, I was actually able to get someone to come that same day. We were having issues with a few outlets and I didn't feel it was necessary for someone to come immediately as I had some time off and willing to wait (as we had put this off for so long already) but Bryan made the effort to have himself or someone else come as soon as possible. Tim was very professional and personable and was able to clearly explain to me everything he was doing and answer any questions that I had. Both Bryan and Tim were upfront about costs depending on what issues were found and if anything else needed to be dealt with as a result. Had Tim from home pro come to my place for a blown LB wire.. just for him to come out there was at first a $399 dollar charge but then they changed it to $199 which was nice of them. He came walked around looked at the problem took some pictures didn’t do any Physical Diagnose just told me what i pretty much already knew and proceeded to quote me a insane and simply ridiculous amount ($8000) to get it repaired later he changed the quote to ($5000) he was there for about 30 minutes then charged me a quick $370 for his time. So if you do the math that’s $12 a minute crazy!! Called another company right after and has a technician come out right away NO service charge for coming out did the Diagnose explain to me what exactly is needed and how long it will take.. gave me a quote of $1700 ( including permit and inspection) and is coming the next day to do the work. I know every company has different pricing but $1700 and $5000 is a big difference. So if you have a issue with your Electrical in your home I would not recommend calling home pro first. Unless you feel like paying $12 a minute to have a tech come to your home. And pretty much do nothing then home pro is for you.

The electrician we had was friendly, prompt, and professional. However, we were charged nearly $400 for a very basic light fixture installation (less than 45 minutes of work). We were not given even an approximate quote before the electrician arrived, meaning that once we had the quote, we would still have had to pay the initial $99 service fee even if we chose not to have him do the installation. As a new homeowner, hiring an electrician for the first time, I feel taken in. I will not use this company again and I will not recommend it to anyone I know.

Be aware that this company will ask you for $100 just to show up and then an additional $100-$330 to diagnose the problem. They were not clear about this when scheduling the appointment. They made it sound like it was $100 to show up as well as diagnose the issue. I booked time off of work to meet them because I felt the $100 fee for diagnosis was fair. When the technician showed up he told me there is additional $100-$330 to diagnose. Luckily he hadn't started so I asked them to leave after finding out that I would be on the hook for $200-$430 just to find out what the problem was. If they were clear about this from the beginning we would've both saved time and hassle.

5 out of 5 stars! I don't usually post reviews, but this company deserves it. Excellent customer service! I emailed the company Tuesday morning and received a call back from Brain Tuesday afternoon. Brian was extremely courteous and helpful and even tried to diagnose my problem over the phone. I was able to get an appointment scheduled for the following day. An hour or so before my appointment, Home-Pro called and emailed me a profile and picture of the technician who would be servicing my call. What a great service! Shaun was the Technician who serviced my appointment and he was great! Very polite, knowledgeable, and explained things well. He did an excellent job diagnosing a tricky problem and explaining the options to me.I really appreciated that he laid down blankets to protect the floor where he was working. All fee structures are clear and explained up front. Overall, I highly recommend this company, Yes, the fees may seem a bit pricey, but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I don't mind paying for excellent customer service and a job well done. All payment is done electronically in the home and a copy of the invoice was mailed to me on the spot. 100% would recommend and would use them again.

We had an electrician from Home-Pro come out for a quote to install a couple circuits in the unfinished basement of a family member's home. Before I get into this, I myself am a final term electrical apprentice, and I have a very good idea of how much time and money a job like this would take. The job was to install 12 receptacles, 3 light switches, connection boxes for 9 slim clip-on style potlights, move 1 switch, and tie in the receptacle and bathroom circuit to the electrical panel. I could do this alone in 1-1.5 days and would totally understand if someone else needed a bit more than one day. The electrician who came was friendly and punctual, but the quote was astronomical and insanely expensive to expect from a residential electrician. We were quoted nearly 7200 dollars, and told the job would take 3 days total. For the record I had supplied all of the material so the quote did not include that. What a joke. For anyone that cares to do the math, that's over $280/hour for a residential electrician to wire an unfinished basement and that's moving at a snail's pace. Furthermore, the electrician that came out was incorrect in citing code on 2 issues, and tried to upsell on unnecessary items so that they could provide the parts (and make more profit) In summary, they seemed nice but the price is absolute insanity and they won't even give you hourly bill out pricing if you ask. Seemed more like a sales pitch than a quote. UPDATE: After the owner's response, I wanted to clarify a few things. We had 2 light switches and 1 circuit breaker that were used. The romex, boxes, other breaker, boxes, potlights, and remaining switches were brand new and CSA approved. We had the job done by another licensed contractor for 1800 and that included the ESA inspection. That's more than 4 times less the estimated cost of Home-pro. I'm sure you guys do decent work, but my suggestion as a lost customer that is familiar with the industry is that your pricing model needs to be updated.

We had our unit inspected by this Home Pro Electric, here are pros and cons: Pros: employees were thorough with inspection, and produced electrical inspection report as expected Cons: Some points 1. Cost: total repair cost estimate was $5500 + HST. We had Reliance electrical guys quote us to do the almost same job for $2500 + HST 2.They tried to overcharge us. There was extra $100~ fee called "kitchener truck service". Could be a mistake, but we had to argue to fix this issue. 3. Inspector Shaun was not pleasant to work with. Lacked communication with us overall. However, another inspector Tim was good person. I'm not here to question their pricing as they will have their own cost of running business, but the cost difference was significant. From the inspection phase, I am sure they can get the job done, but at a very high cost.
