Drain of new tub didn't line up exactly with old drain, so I was happy that John Cabral, the plumber who installed it was able to get everything hooked up and tested for a fraction of the quotes I got from Mr. Rooter and another plumber. We hired Handyman connections a couple of weeks ago to repair some wall damage, and paint. Gaetan arrived on time and was quick to engage in the scope after providing a quote. He used 5 minute mud to quickly patch the areas, and paint the damaged area. Gaetan was very pleasant and great to talk to. If there was a zero score, I would have used it on this company. I contacted Handyman Ottawa in June for a few simple odd jobs. It took several attempts before I could get hold of them (and I naively thought them being busy had something to with them being competent). For starters, they had to send two people for simple quotes adding another layer of delay to what was already delayed. On the day the handyman showed up, he managed to get one task (adjusting closet sliding doors) done. On the second task (changing the bathtub drain), he broke the drain shoe and chipped the bathtub. Only after this, now with a broken drain shoe, he realizes that the spare part is nowhere to be found on the market. He would send me an email later that he now has to "schedule" another appointment with a plumber for several days later, while we were left without a shower. Long story short, I got the bathtub drain assembly changed with another contractor in ONE day (the damage cost me 1500$ to fix and the bathtub remains chipped). After this ordeal, I ask Handyman connection to forget that the bathtub catastrophe ever happened, and at least finish the remaining tasks (adjusting doors, securing a loose stair nosing, etc.). They pretended they would finish the work. But that was until I paid their invoice of $270 for the work on the closet doors. Once the invoice was paid, things dragged on for some more weeks with vague assurances that the work will be done. Ultimately, I was told today that the remaining tasks were cancelled. I have now lost several months, some larger outside work that they never quoted me on but kept me waiting on has to be postponed to next year, and the most basic things they were supposed to do are yet to be done. I would not recommend Handyman Connection to anyone, unless you are looking for trouble and want to waste a ton of your time (and money) of course.

Interior doors installation. I contacted the Handyman Connection to have someone install 2 interior doors which consisted of making appropriate fitting of hinges and door knobs to the new doors. Tony from Handyman connection was pleasant and polite and installed the doors. There was touch up to be done but I was going away for the long weekend. The doors seemed a bit stiff but I attributed that to being new doors attached to an old frame. When I got back I notice that lots of paints was removed on both doors because it was sticking to the frame. I called back Handyman connection to let them know I was not happy about that and I would like to have it fix. Tony came that same day and fix the issues by adjusting the hinges and some of the frame pieces to stop the door from sticking to the frame and chipping the paint. The reason I gave a 4 is because I had to call back for something that should have been done right the first time. I will use the Handyman service again because they were quick to provide the service and quick to resolve the issue.

On April 13th I sent an email and immediately received an automated response advising me that if time was tight to please call to be placed on the schedule; I left a voice message and received a call back the same morning. Would give them 0 stars if possible. My wife called them because there was a leak under the kitchen sink. Turned out that the dishwasher drain hose had a hole in it. The plumber charged her $368 for replacing the dishwasher drain hose!!!! There was some water coming out the back of the dishwasher so I replaced the hose again myself and it only cost me $10 to buy the hose and about 30 minutes to install it. This plumber took several hours to do this job claiming that the part was hard to find. I was able to find it at home hardware down the street. This job should have cost the price of the part which is $10 + 1 hour of labour.

My condo has 5 sliding doors that hang from the ceiling. Each one is 4 feet wide by 9 feet tall and they were organized in a group of 3 (for the bedroom) and a group of 2 (for the den). I wanted all 5 doors to be independent (e.g. - slide the length of the condo). Because the nature of the job was more industrial (it required new hardward to be ordered and installed and drilled into the concrete ceiling) Handyman Connection were able to put me in contact with a contractor who had almost 2 decades of experience in that kind of work. Dave (the contractor) and his team were fantastic. Incredibly professional and great to work with. I couldn't be happier with the results and I can now have all 5 doors grouped together in the one spot and it really opens up the space in my condo. Awesome job.

The electricity in the bathroom blew completely, and what little I knew was insufficient to even diagnose the problem. In a quarantine lockdown, Handyman Connection found a spot two weeks before our scheduled appointment, perhaps due to a cancellation. The electrician was able to diagnose and fix it in minutes, *and* show me what caused it and what I needed to do to prevent a recurrence, as well as give me some maintenance tips on other developing issues. Better believe their business card is now stuck to my fridge door!

Well that was a fruitless effort. No fruit, no follow up or estimate. Initially the Handyman Connection craftsman called to say he couldn’t make the appointment; car problems. Strange that; we had never spoken or agreed to an appointment. Ok no problem; we agreed on a date and time; the following Saturday. He arrived and viewed the work that I had requested; installing a banisher and hand rail to the downstairs TV room. (I sent pictures of what then job would entail.) The first indication that perhaps he wasn’t the experienced craftsman that was advertised was that he didn’t know which end of the spindles were to be counter sunk into the stairs. Second he didn’t know that spindles come in two sizes; the one at the back of the stair is longer. And finally he struggled to figure out how to fix the newel posts to the top and bottom stairs. Of course my concern was in the red so I asked, “ah how long do you think the job will take?” He bolted; up the stairs, down the hall and out the front door. Before closing the door he said over his shoulder, “ I’ll send an estimate”. So one week passes then a second. I contacted the Handyman Connection to find out the status of my work request and the estimate and received the following reply: Our craftsman did report to the office that he felt uncomfortable at your home during the estimate appointment. He did not elaborate but said he would not be providing a cost for work. Unfortunately, we don't have another craftsman comfortable with the spindle aspect of your job. At this time we will be unable to help with your project. I do apologize for any inconvenience. After I calmed down and thought about what occurred during the visit he obviously felt uncomfortable working in my home because he didn’t know how to do the job. Also I found “uncomfortable working in my home” insulting. Heavens to murgatroyds; we are retired professionals with a small dog. During the initial contact with Handyman Connection I listed several other jobs that I hoped they could undertake; repairs to the garage floor, replacement of a ceiling fan, resetting the front steps etc. Me thinks I’ll look elsewhere…

I required a kitchen faucet replacement, as my old faucet was about to give up the ghost. I contacted Handyman Connection through their website and shortly received a call back to book the appointment. At the time of booking it was clearly explained to me that there was a minimum fee for plumbing related services ($150). Petr arrived punctually at the agreed time. He looked over the situation and my replacement faucet, and did not have to change the estimate from $150. He performed the work very efficiently, and had the new faucet installed in about 45 minutes. The new faucet is working flawlessly. Petr was friendly and polite throughout, and left a clean workspace. I will definitely use Handyman Connection Again!

Tile installer failed to show up. Apparently he has his own business on the side and doubled scheduled with Handyman Connection. When we called Handyman Connection to see where our tile installer was, they thought he was with us. They subsequently had difficulty reaching him. They were apologetic and offered to reschedule but only to a later date. That's the least we would expect. There was no attempt to make the situation right or no consideration to the prep work we had done in anticipation of the tile instalation ( disconnect gas stove, etc). We canceled and found someone else within an hour. I would not recommend this company until they get their scheduling act together.

They were hired for a simple fence repair that would take only half a day. The contractor showed up late worked for three hours then left for two hours to do an estimate. He then came back grabbed his tools and left without saying anything to us with the fence left on the ground. When we called the manager he didn't have any problems with what the contractor did.

I have just had a very good experience with Handyman Connection. We were upgrading a main level powder room - tiles, new sink, vanity, matching mirror cabinet and a new light fixture. Mark J. did the main job with precision and care as if he was doing his own bathroom. The final result looks great. The parts of the job not immediately visible - for example, hidden behind the vanity - were done with the same care and professionalism. The job related mess was kept to absolute minimum and tidied up at the end of each day. We barely new that we had any renovation happening, apart from the pleasure of Mark's company. I have appreciated Mark's advice on some design decisions. He patiently discussed with me various options and help me make an educated decision. He also saved me a lot of time by supplying all the necessary materials. Handyman Connection electrician - Yiftach - installed extra outlet which we wanted to be inside of the new vanity. This job was well coordinated with the main job and very well done. Altogether: five stars for professionalism, reliability, skills, final result and good support from the office staff.

Please be advised that this company charges over a 100.00 $ per/hr. They try and tell you that it is by the Job--but this is miss leading to say the least. Their workers are part time labor, that have little to no vetting.

We phoned to book a visit from a plumber to give us an estimate to replace two outdoor faucets. John C. phoned to say he could come earlier, which was fine with us. Estimate took no time, price with slight discount offered and accepted. On the day scheduled for the work John called to say he was stuck in line at hardware store cash and would be a few minutes late. He arrived very soon after the appointment time, spent a little more than an hour completing the job. Both faucets look good, better than the originals and they work. John was very pleasant to deal with and final bill was even lower than agreed-upon estimate! Our third house repair by Handyman Connection and we will continue to use them.

Filled out the form on their website and was contacted the next day to schedule a free on-site estimate. I was surprised by the immediate availability. Other places were quite backlogged but the connection was able to send Ray. He helped estimate soffit repair, vinyl siding repair and some gutter cleaning. The estimate was much cheaper than another place I was quoted. Ray was able to come by and fix it up the next day with no issues. Overall it was a great experience.

Electrician came in because half my breaker didn’t work. He found the issue which was my master switch wasn’t fully pushed in. Took less than 5 mins to figure that out. Never gave me a quote or anything. Pushed the switch in correctly looked at the wiring and charged me $169.50. I think that is a little bit crooked. Never asked me to read or sign anything till after the fact. Will definitely not be using the handyman connection ever again. They are supposed to give a free quotation. Never happened. He pushes a switch then bills $169.50. If I did that every time I fixed a PC that way I would be a millionaire and have no clients. Don’t let them do any work before giving you a quotation first!

Below are the costs of repairing a bathroom by Handyman Connection. I believe numbers are more helpful for people to judge and compare. The job was done by one person and lasted 3 days. The bathroom is about 20SQF. The job includes patching ceiling and wall holes, installing customer supplied toilet, and painting the walls (3 sides) and the ceiling. See pictures attached. Here is a breakdown of the cost: 1. Inspect floor and wall for water and remove old toilet: $49.5 2. Install customer-supplied toilet: $200 3. Remove and install drywalls to patch the holes: $400 4. Paint wall and ceiling: $150 5. Material (mud, screws etc.): $20 While the work was done in a reasonable time, the prices for certain parts of the work were rather expensive. For example, the removal and installation of a toilet was $250, not including the price of the toilet. The work itself was decent, however the costs were not.

We requested a free estimate regarding some electrical issues outside our home, and the dispatch quickly connected us to an electrician in the area. Although he was pleasant and efficient while investigating the issues and replacing a socket, at no time did he give us a quote for services. By the time I realized an estimate was not forthcoming, the work was being done and we were given a sizable invoice without having even signed to approve the work order. I ended up signing it after the fact to avoid conflict. At the end of the day, a problem beyond our capabilities was fixed, but I wasn't happy to have the cost just sprung on us after it was too late to make the decision. A live and learn moment.

I used Handyman Connection over a decade ago to wire and install a new lighting fixture for my stairwell. That electrician was great to work with (poor man even had to crawl through my attic) and I have had absolutely no problem with it since. I found myself in an electrical dilemma after a contractor I used for my main floor reno, moved my dining room light fixture over a tad to another location as I had requested but then refused to reinstall the dining room light.... as he wasn't licenced to moved electrical fixtures... he tells me after the fact! I called a few companies but only heard back from Handyman Connection (guess the project wasn't big enough for electrician companies). We set an appointment and rest assured, their LICENCED (very important) electrician Yiftach arrived. He assessed the fixture, wiring etc. Fixed what needed to be done and installed my dining room light, all at a reasonable price! Ahhh, not only light for Christmas dinner but invaluable peace of mind in knowing that nothing will short and cause a fire! Yiftach was very professional, personable and answered all my questions/concerns concisely. A great ambassador for Handyman Connection. I'll certainly be calling Handyman Connection in the new year for some long overdue carpentry work as well. Thank heavens they professionally cover the smaller jobs. The responsiveness of the office staff is excellent, and they are great to deal with. That's where the convenience of this business ends. There also seems to be a breakdown in communication between what the office promises and what is actually delivered by the technicians. I provided them a list of work at a rental property that would require 3 different contractors (handyman, plumber and electrician). None of them have actually completed any work yet, and it's been a month. After more than 3 weeks, they finally found a handyman to do the work. I had reiterated several times with the office that he could go ahead with the work the day of the appointment, but instead he just assessed what needed to be done (and a week later I still haven't received a quote). I had made arrangements with my tenants and property manager to both be there to authorize/complete the work. That was a waste of time and money. They couldn't seem to find a plumber, so I booked my own and had it completed within a couple of days. Much more efficient than using Handyman Connection as an intermediary. And the electrician showed up to the appointment 5 hours early, which I explained to the office can't happen (especially for rental properties, where I'm required to book appointments). Again, not to complete any work, but to do an assessment. I wouldn't recommend this service or use them again. Just find your own contractors- there are lots of reputable ones listed on the Better Business Bureau website.

Firstly the reception over the phone was friendly and efficient. I think I spoke with Troy, the Owner (didn't know that at the time). How refreshing to speak with an actual owner of a company rather than an answering service or call centre that just relays messages to schedule bookings. Obviously he cares about delivering quality service. All details were gathered quickly and with ease and the appointment date offered was within less than a week, and coordinated with MY schedule. What a nice change for a company to work around my timeline and not the other way around as so often is the case these days. Andrei Q. was excellent, professional and friendly and didn't hesitate to answer all my questions while doing the work. As the two repairs required were only small, we think all of the above speaks volumes regarding integrity of service. Price wise, we paid for things we could not do ourselves and for one of the jobs albeit small was wiring related. We were paying to have a trained and licenced professional do the work that we didn't want to. $ didn't bother us. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend Handyman Connection others.
