We recently purchased a 75 year old home in Fredericton. Even before we took possession we were aware of some problems with the electrical work. There was still some original wiring in the home without adequate protection, and there had been many amateur improvements made over the years, some of which were fire risks. On the advice of our home inspector, we asked Rickard Electric to help us update the breaker panel, add some new circuits and bring the wiring up to code wherever possible.
Having retired from a technical management position, I have the background to recognise many common and obscure electrical problems. So, once we had moved in, I took the time to analyse the wiring in detail. Some electricians might have had difficulty working with a client who wanted to be involved in such a detailed manner, but I was impressed that Troy and Charles were completely comfortable with me watching, commenting and generally getting in the way.
Working with Rickard Electric was an easy process as Nancy is organised and responds immediately to communications. Troy is very knowledgeable, generous with his time, friendly and all-round great guy. He and his team were always on time for appointments, and well prepared for the work. When all our house lighting failed one evening, Troy was back in a flash to get things working again. (It turned out that a hidden wiring error caused a ground fault when certain lights were turned on.) Some of the improvements required some tricky 'fishing' of wires, and I was impressed by the skill with which these tasks were done quickly with no damage to the property.
Troy was actually the first person we met after completing our quarantine. He was efficient in sizing up the job, but he was also quick to welcome us as newcomers to Fredericton. Troy and Nancy have put together a great team and I'm very happy to have met them. We'll be using their services again in the near future, and I strongly recommend them.
