Didn’t show up and didn’t call me to say they were not going to show up.

I called and booked an appt, with a 2 week wait time. The day before the appt they called and confirmed which was great, however the day of the repair, I waited and after 30 minutes called to see if they were lost/running late etc. Was then told, oh we forgot to call you! He can't make it todays so we need to reschedule. I agreed and it was set for 2 days later - I confirmed if this was solid as I needed to rearrange work to be here for that time, and the woman on the phone confirmed yes, they would definitely be there. Well they didn't show, so I called 20 minutes after the apt time to be told they couldn't make it for 2 and would come at 6:30 pm. So now, I had to change work commitments again - as they assured me that they would be there at 6:30pm. Well at 6:45pm I called - no one answered and no one showed up. I received a text within a few minutes saying 'the technician cannot make the appt today'. They wouldn't even pick up the phone or call me - they texted me to avoid a conversation! Incredibly unreliable, unprofessional and very poor communication skills. I booked an appt with another company, they arrived within a week, on time and did a great job. Do your self a favour and book somewhere else or book a back up! Handyman Connection will stand you up!!! Awful!!!!!

Had two rooms painted and was very pleased with the result. The attending contractor, Andrew, did an excellent job. Update: a few weeks later, 2nd part of the job (putting up a fence with iron gates on each side of house) was completed by Andrew... the exact lattice pattern to match existing wasn't in local inventory, however Andrew did a custom job to match and it looked even better than the original, yet still fitting in nicely. Overall we're very impressed and happy with the work.

Had a wonderful experience with this company. From the moment I phoned to the day of the appointment, all was professional. The receptionist was friendly, polite and warm. I received a confirmation email shortly after our phone call. The day before the appointment I received an email, confirming the appointment, the name of the craftsman, years with the company and his last back ground check. Really liked that detail. The craftsman arrived on time, assessed the work to be done, gave me a quote which I accepted and he was ready to do the job then and there. He worked quickly and efficiently, had all the necessary tools at hand and was done in no time at all. He was friendly and knowledgeable and went about his business with the air of a person who knows what to do. They accept email Interac transfers. I would definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

My whole experience with Handyman connections of Victoria was excellent. I have been wanting to get some shelves installed in my laundry/storage room for ages, but it was hard to find someone to do what was a relatively small job. I phoned Handyman, they were responsive, and set up an appointment for an estimate in a timely fashion. My handyman, Andrew Mahon , arrived on time (even early) on the day we booked and set aside time to complete the job so that my shelves (on the books for months now) were completely installed two days later Andrew was friendly, professional, on time, and very detail oriented. He did a great job, ensuring that the shelves were clean looking, had appropriate supports and, well, he just produced exactly what I wanted...and for over $600's less than previous quotes from other companies. YAY! thank you Andrew and Handyman...I will be using you again and I highly recommend the service to anyone that needs these kinds of handyman services. thanks Robin

The main baseboard heaters stopped working in my house over Christmas and in the middle of winter. Although we are in Victoria, I didn't want my family to freeze our butts off until spring. Handyman Connection replied right away to my inquiry, made an appointment within a few days, and everything went swimmingly. The electrician they sent, Chris, was friendly, informative, identified the problem, and helped me source new baseboards heaters. He then came back and installed them and I am now sitting here comfortably warm while I write this review. I plan to use these guys in the future for any home repair needs...

I had work done by the former owners of this company, and it was done badly. By the time I realized that, the company had changed hands. Even though it wasn't his responsibility, new owner Alex willingly stepped up to make it right, and he and his tradesman, Ken, did an excellent job. Ken showed up on time, did the job well, and cleaned up after himself. Alex communicated regularly and clearly with me, and was a pleasure to deal with. I'll happily call them next time I need something done. If you've had a bad experience with Handyman Connection in Victoria, you should know that they are under new ownership, and if my experience is anything to go by, the improvement is HUGE!

I had a tri fold closet door that would not fold any longer and just hung there. Handyman Connection sent Harlan Fowler to see what needed to be done and he came back the next day and put new hardware on closet door and once again I can I can use my closet door without it falling on my head. Harlan did an excellent job and did not waste time. I would recommend Harlan Fowler for any job and besides he really likes dogs. That’s a big thing around here.

An appointment for a Handyman Connection person was set up, but no one ever showed up. I called the next day, and was told there was a communication error and they apologized. A second appt was set up, and again the handyman did not show up. The office is closed till Monday morning , so I cant find out what the reason was this time. Maybe it is a good thing, as other reivews state they are expensive, plus past experience with a quote for a project was a whole lot more that what I ended up paying to another company.

Everyone I spoke with was very helpful and friendly, and they got back to me promptly after my initial message. In particular, Reid, our craftsman, was an absolute gem! He installed some shelves and hung some pictures for us, and I could not be more pleased. He was considerate and professional. When one of the tasks I originally inquired about couldn’t be done in a way that he felt would be safe in the long run, he apologized (unnecessarily, as it was not his fault) and made sure that the cost was taken off our invoice. Office staff friendly and helpful especially when first handyman never showed up for second time. The handyman we ended up with was polite and on time. We had to leave for a dinner appointment and left him working . I was disappointed with the quality of the work for the price I paid which was alot. Gaps between the board and railing and some screws not flush. A bottle of silicone pro was left behind. Guess we're supposed to finish this ourselves??

I contacted Handyman Connection to repair a hanging (i.e. sliding) door to a bathroom. After some phone calls to follow up why stages of work weren't done on time, it seemed that the work was finally finished, although it didn't seem like a high-quality job. A few weeks later, the door failed. The office seems to be organized and responsible, but the workers are either not skilled or not very committed.

Handyman Connection Victoria is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever dealt with. I came out to Victoria to assist my grandmother with some repairs and general home maintenance. When I called to book someone on June 30th their soonest appointment time was July 9th at 5:00pm (my final day on the island). I took the appointment assured by the great reviews and the administrator on the phone that it would be an easy repair and completed before I departed. The day of the repair I received a confirmation text/covid assessment at 8:40 am then a reminder and confirmation email at 1:00 pm. The technician never showed up, and of course, the office had closed at 4:30 pm for the remainder of the weekend. I was home and ready to receive the technician for the rest of the evening as I never received a confirmation that the appointment had been cancelled or rescheduled. Now I must fly back to Ontario and leave my 81-year old granny with unfinished repairs. Edit: An hour after leaving this review and a message at the office asking for an explanation, I was contacted by the technician (7:40 pm) saying he would arrive in 15 minutes, if I still wanted the service. He arrived unprepared to do the repair and after a cursory look he informed me he did not have the part to complete the repair, even though I clearly started the issue when I booked the appointment on June 30 (and was assured it was a quick, easy fix). He left without charging me. At this time I was also asked to improve my Google rating. After the technician left, the owner phoned me and apologized for the issue, promising an appointment early next week (except she didn't actually have access to the schedule so could not provide a concrete appointment or solution). I am left waiting on her call on Monday when I will already be out of the province. Overall the only thing I can recommend about Handyman Connection of Victoria is to take the 5-star reviews with a critical lens.

He didn’t try to up-sell us on a more costly project. He was very friendly and completed his repairs quickly and professionally. I contacted Handyman Connection in the morning. Chris, the electrician, showed up at noon the same day and had a look at the job and prepared a quote. He said it was a fairly straightforward job and could start immediately. He was fast and efficient and fairly tidy in cleaning up. The price was fairly reasonable. He explained what he was doing as he progressed through the job. There were no surprises. I am extremely satisfied. The entire process, from initial phone call to completion of job was 6 hours. Who else can top that service?

I had a few small jobs around the house that I needed help with. It took over a month for someone to show up to price the jobs. The work was then scheduled for a few weeks later in early July. A few days prior to the appointment I was called to reschedule, so we did. At the second appointment time, no one showed up. I called to inquire and was told they had forgotten to call and let me know. They ended up rescheduling twice more over the next few weeks. Each time, I rearrange my life/work schedule to accommodate. After the 4th time, a message was left to say that I would be called by the end of the week to pick yet another time. I was told they were committed to completing the work by the end of July. It is now Aug 4th and not only is the work not complete, no one has ever even bothered to call me back.

I received a quote on January 26 when I was told I should expect the work done in 14 days. I went with them and was pleasantly surprised when I was told I would expect them February 3 then February 5 finally February 10 which is 15 days later. You could see their pattern. They were just jerking me around and wasting my time. They had no intention of ever following through. They kept mentioning big jobs and , as mine was small, they showed their contempt. They should have just told me they did not want my small job and I could have got someone else in who would be willing to do the work. Instead they just jerked me around and rather than have to listen to another excuse I bailed. They were not surprised as that is what they wanted all along.

This company advertises that they employ professionals who can help you complete your home renovation project. That is not who they sent to our home. We signed a contract stating a certain amount of work would be done for a set amount of money. He did not even finish 1/3of the job and what he did do was a terrible job that we now have to redo and purchase more matrrial to replace what their guy wasted. They refused to accept any responsobility gor theor worker and the shoddy job he did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

handyman connection charges out at $112.50 per hour the contractor only make 40% of what he brings in. The way they do it is very simply is this way when they call in they read off the invoice number then they say dash 15 so on that means the number of hours that that contractor can do the job that is the way they can give the amount of the the job is worth.. There main office is located in calgary alberta and they are a franchise and the franchiser is located in the U.S.

It's hard to find a good carpenter on short notice here so we were pleased they came out quickly to look at job and did the work soon after. Work itself was mainly fine (90%). The problem is, or can be, they charge by the job not by the hour. We were told the job would take 3+ hours and would cost $250. It was a very small job (we supplied the materials) and we couldn't see it taking that long but needed it done right away, so agreed. The job (done very slowly) took just over 1.5 hours, so the $267. incl. tax was very steep. Be forewarned.

My husband called them to replace a bathroom fan. They did it it a timely manner, but cost $350. $112 for fan and $238 for labor. His fault for not shopping around, as I called someone and they said they could do it for parts plus $100. Lesson learned. Get various quotes.

The first guy we got to fix our lights was great. Friendly and professional. We mentioned we needed a small wall extension and a door put in for our break room at our store. He said it would probably cost 300 bucks. Which is ballpark what we estimated too. So we thought "Great" and called again to book someone for a real quote. They quoted $3100 and claimed we just misheard the first guy! We knew the materials did not cost anywhere near that, because we had priced out what it would cost to just buy the materials from the store and do it ourselves (about $150 give or take, the wall was only 4ft long by 10ft high) but wanted to go through a contractor for speed and convenience. My husband phones them back after the ridiculous quote and the woman he spoke with (who was admittedly very nice) said the order on paper was for a whole lot more work that we hadn't actually asked for or would EVER have done, like shelf installation and a full paint job. (Still not seeing where the thousands of dollars went, but this was clear fraud, because the guy who would be doing the work never offered to do these additional things for us). We were told we'd get a call back about the "misunderstanding" but never did. So either the company scams people, or they hired a contractor that scams people. I have no idea how many others were unwittingly overcharged for work they never got done but were too naive about what construction costs to notice. Either way, we will be doing the work ourselves and never using this business again. I am torn because their receptionist was nice and the original electrician was good. But this was so unnaceptable, so shifty, so inexcusable that it had made me distrust them forever. If it was this one contractor who lied and the company didn't know (though I'm sure would have happily taken our money if we hadn't called them out) then I urge them to immediately fire and blacklist that man from future work. If it WAS the company, and this IS a common practice then shame on them. How dare they take advantage of people. And I urge everyone else to look elsewhere.
