I heard about Electrika on the radio with their catchy tune. I needed to upgrade my electrical panel to 200 amps for a planned thermopump installation and furnace replacement, and wanted to have the work done by qualified professionals who stand behind their work. Electrika had been promoting this in their ads, so I gave them a try. I must admit, after I got the quote I was a bit shocked because it was way higher than expected, but this was due to the fact that my electrical meter and gas meter installations were not to code (home inspector didn't catch it when I bought the house), and the quote included the remediation. Less professional electricians probably would have shrugged off the code violation off (since the risk was pretty low), or wouldn't have caught it in the first place. I tried to find a way around my issue by getting advice from the fire department, gaz metro, and the RBQ, but no dice. So, I was stuck having to get rid of the gas entirely to bring my house back to code. I got a revised quote from Electrika and John himself showed up to check things out. After some very fair negotiations on the price with Dave, and with the knowledge that I was getting the best product with the best warranty (lifetime), installed by licensed professionals, price set up front (no surprises), the proper permits, I went ahead with Electrika. The job took 2 guys the whole day (about 8 am - 5pm), but the finished product is fantastic. It's obvious when you see the installation that this was a professional job from beginning to end. Yes I paid more, but I've watched enough Holmes on Homes to know that it is better to get it done right the first time, especially with electrical. You get what you pay for!I'm certain that my home is safer than before, and I have all the documentation to prove to the next owner that I did not cut corners. I'd also like to specifically thank Dave for his patience with me while I planned everything out. He explained all the reasons why things had to be done the way they were, and was always available to answer my questions. I highly recommend Electrika, and will definately be calling them for all my electrical needs in the future.

Kyle came with excellent announcement and presentation. He was respectful with review of costing scenarios. Tidy and clean. Kyle was able to assess the situation readily and with embarrassment to me: the problem was a 4-way switch with one of the switches, which is never used, in a neutral position (culprit switch was dead center). With a call to central office, Kyle made arrangements for "no charge" and he left me with only a slightly bruised ego. Thank you Kyle and thank you Electrika.

An electrician from this company came to my home and gave me an estimate that was so high and not matching my needs that it was outrageous. The guy was suggesting I put everything up to code, wanted to drill through ceramic for minor problems, and drill holes all over my kitchen to install two GFI plugs. For five plugs he wanted to charge me $6000. I called another local company who did the job for 10% of what Electrika quoted me and who were blown away by what he had suggested. To install a 60$ electrical panel Electrika wanted to charge me $2000 or more and tried to convince me I needed it for "security" reasons. The other electricians were much more accommodating of the constraints that existed within the home and were honest about what needed or did not need to be done. I will never again call Electrika. I can't believe the guy actually thought he could get away with it. The only credit I can give them is they ended up reimbursing me for the "estimate" that they did - because I had to pay them 100$ for that outrageous quote on top of it all.

I called Electrika on June 5th and they were able to send someone out the next day in the morning to look at my building to split a hydro meter into two. Raymond showed up at my building on time and was able to do a complete diagnostic on what needed to be done to give me as accurate a quote as possible. This was a 90 $ charge, but well worth what it cost for the detail that he went over for the job that he would eventually do. Raymond was able to fit me in on June 12th to do the hydro meter split as it was a job that was quite urgent due to a tenant moving in and wanting their own meter. He showed up in the morning with an assistant and they worked the entire day on this job. They kept me up to date on a couple of hick up's they ran into along the way and finished everything in one full day . On top of that due to the way the wires were configured he was able to save me $750.00 off the quoted amount. He could have easily kept that charge on and I would have never have known the difference so for that I feel that this is a truly honest employee and company. I would absolutely recommend this company for any electrical work.

We hired Electrika to rewire our kitchen, bathroom and hallway. We were renovating an older apartment (about 100 years old), so much of the wiring was "knob and tube" style that needed to be replaced. It was a challenging job - lots of fishing of wires through crawl spaces, requiring us to cut walls in just the right places. We were very impressed by the quality of their work, their tidiness, and their emphasis on safety. It's tempting to cut corners when you're doing a renovation job - for example, joining wires via connector boxes behind closed walls. Our electrician insisted on following code, explained the cost/benefit/safety analysis, and took his trade, and our house, very seriously. We appreciated this. As some have noted, they gave a quote for the job, rather than working by the hour. It's puzzling why some would feel this isn't to the advantage of the homeowner - we preferred knowing exactly how much the job would cost. And yes, as it turned out, it took exactly how long they quoted. There was never even a question that the electrician was working at the right pace or taking the right amount of time. The administration staff was as pleasant to deal with as the electrician. Rewiring your house is an investment. It isn't something that is cheap, nor something you'd want to be done cheaply. This is an excellent company and one I have recommended to my friends.

After researching several Montreal electricians I decided to hire Electrika for a job on a large loft condo at Place des Arts. The job was complex because it required running power across concrete ceilings with metal conduit and installing large new lighting fixtures in all the main rooms. Most of the smaller electricians I rang were unable to provide this service or could not start the work for several weeks. Electrika sent someone to assess the job the same week and completed the work the following week. They provided a detailed quote for approval and their technicians (Matthew, Mohammed and Mohammed Ali) were very polite, professional and tidy. When we called them we had to spend an addition $450 and they then informed us that if we had installed another piece of equipment the repairs would have been covered by warranty. That is pretty convenient. If we installed a piece of equipment that they never told us about we would have saved $450 dollars! Now they want us to pay the repairs and install the piece of equipment. It seems pretty disingenuous to us. Bye-bye Electrika! We are installing air conditioning and I have not approached them for a quote. Also, my parents have written them off after an equally unsatisfactory experience. Something has changed because they were a terrific company before.

Great service. The electrician arrived on time and fix my problem. The electrician was professional and really careful. I do not five 5 stars because I find the same day service a bit of deceiving. Same day service can be achievable only if you have an emergency and if you pay a hefty amount for the emergency. The company sends the electrician around 3 pm (not late at night) probably paying the normal salary but you end up paying a high prime. Why pay this you will ask? Or why you don't wait? Well, I had an issue with the heaters in winter plus a baby at home. It is a situation that you don't want to prolong. Anyway, my problem was fixed and I was happy (not my bank account)

Was told there would be a fee for visit but none for estimate. Alright. Not only did the electrician pinch me out of an extra120 something for just looking at my junction box but he also gave me a 1600$ estimate. All of which, when I called a different company: didn't have visit fee, didn't have fee for looking at junction box and most importantly his estimate was for 300$ to do the same work which I happily let them do. Well done too. Maybe I got a bad apple from electrika but that's just horrible. It's a perfect example why they always tell you to get several estimates. I'm glad I did. Try at your own risk.

We chose Electrika for the update of old wiring in our 140 year old home, and are very happy with the choice. Richard did our initial inspection and prepared a very detailed list of work to be done and a quote. He and Kyle carried out the work and despite several surprises after opening the walls of this old house managed to do it all as planned. Along the way they made it a point to ask us if every thing was done to our liking and on the one or two times when we saw something we thought would be done differently they listened and changed it. Our house has original plaster walls and charming plaster molding. While removing the much less charming original wiring, Richard and Kyle were meticulous and careful, and we were left with all new wiring and very minimal plaster to patch up. If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I would do it.

When I initially called Electika I really appreciated how I was immediately listened to, I explained how I was upset by how I had been treated by the project manager of where I live, his electrician had installed my bathroom fan and connected it to the dimmer switch, this caused the fan to power down with the dimmer. When I asked the project manager if the switches could be separate he said no, he said you can have either the fan or the dimmer, not both. I called Electrika and was told that this was easily resolvable, I was told in simple terms what needed to be done and I was given an extremely reasonable quote of what it would cost. I was treated with respect and empathy, which seems to be in short supply these days. My problem was immediately taken care of, the two electricians that came to my place were professional, friendly and courteous. Booking an appointment took me 3 minutes when I called, costs were explained very clearly during that call and again when the designated Electrician showed up. I got a text an hour before he arrived, a call from Ricardo when he was 30 minutes out and he arrived on time. He explained their payment policy, reviewed what needed to be done, then sat down to write up estimates. Once done, he went over the work to be done and asked how I wanted to proceed. I chose the option I was ready for and he got to work. Whole process took less than 1 hour. The electrical wires coming into our house were damaged during a windstorm and hydro had to cut our power until all the repairs were made. Electrika was able to send out someone right away despite the fact that they were very busy. Communication was very efficient as they sent notification along with the picture of the electrician who was coming. Kyle the electrician also called to say what time he expected to arrive at our house. He did an excellent and thorough job. It was not cheap but was worth it. He even contacted Hydro to tell them the repairs were done and that they could come reconnect the line.

They don't give you ballpark over the phone, they charge you $80 for an estimate, and then they give you a price from a catalogue and not really that tailored for your case. Also, the prices are HIGH. After I broke it down, accounting for the price of materials, it was coming to well over $180 per hour per tech for the labour alone. Needless to say, that resulted in a quote that was DOUBLE of what the company I ended up hiring charged for the same job. So in the end, if you have money to burn then hire Electrika.

Aside from a 98$ tech travel charge (fair enough), they offer various 'Diagnostic' plans that start at 190$. The electrician was here for no more than 1 hour, literally did not repair a thing, and left us with a 300$ +tx bill (paid before he actually gives his diagnosis). The actual work would have cost another 925$. I asked if he could at least change a dimmer switch for us. He said it would cost another 40$ if he used mine or a little more if he used one of his. We are 2 self-employed workers with variable incomes. I cannot help but feel SCAMMED. Follow up work: After the a/m initial visit, John, the owner called rather quickly to discuss and address our dissatisfaction. He ended up coming over to see the work for himself. He listened and then made us an acceptable and fair revised offer to fulfill the work. He sincerely cares about offering professional service and in satisfying the client's issues. We are happy with the outcome and to recommend.

Dave is a highly capable electrician and is fully informed on all current code requirements. He works well with and assists anyone who is assigned to the job with him. Everyone is always on the same page. The safety of the client and the property are his paramount concerns. But keeping the client informed about the nature and progress of the work are a very close second. He always answered any questions that I raised. If a change or addition to the job became necessary, everything was fully explained and Dave did not proceed until everything was fully understood and agreed to. The work was done with as little disturbance to the household routine as possible. Dave is a very personable individual. It has always been a pleasure to have him working in our home. He has been to our house 4-5 times in the last 3 years or so for specific problems and most recently for a complete rewiring of areas not touched in previous visits. The team always cleans up at the end of the day and if the job takes longer, their materials are neatly stored out of the way or returned to the truck. It is such a pleasure to deal with an individual and an organization that is so capable and so dependable. If there is one shortcoming to this review it is that I am restricted to giving him only 5 stars. He worth so many more.

Kyle - Super Service With A Smile! Shortly after taking possession of our new home, one of the first things on our to-do list was making sure that the electrics were safe. So I called John at Electrika, a CAA-approved residential supplier we have relied on for 15 years, and scheduled a home electric inspection. A few days later, Kyle, an electrician with a permanent smile, and Dylan, his apprentice, arrived at the scheduled time and introduced themselves in a professional yet friendly manner. The dynamic duo then covered their footwear to protect our newly finished floors and got down to the business at hand. While Kyle conducted a thorough inspection of the service panel, corrected breaker safety issues and disconnected unused circuits, Dylan braved the cold to inspect and restore the exterior outlets. Dylan then came inside and connected and set up a thermostat while Kyle installed a cooktop, both of which are working just fine. Kyle returned the following week to install a couple of GFCI breakers. During both visits Kyle was happy to answer all my questions and concerns, and volunteer helpful suggestions to protect our home and family for many years to come. When it comes to peace of mind we highly recommend Electrika.

Had an emergency today Fiday Nov 1 2019. During the storm trees fell on to the electrical wires downing and snapping the poles on the roof where power goes in to the house. Called Electrika at 8am they called back at 8: 52 they were on there way. Richard came to house very professional. He evaluated the situation and got to work right away. We hired Electrika to fix two malfunctioning dimmers in our home. On initial phone call with the company, I was advised of the $100 travel fee, but was not given any more info with regards to a quote. On arrival, the electrician explained the diagnostic package would cost $250 and that we would only be charged extra if the job ended up being more complicated. This seemed reasonable and we decided to go ahead with the impression that if the fix was simple, that would be our full cost. It took him 15 minutes to figure out that it was simply the dimmer switch that needed changing (our previous dimmers were cracked). At this time, he revealed that it would cost an additional $80 per switch to wire, even though we provided the new dimmers ourselves. The total job took about 1 hour of his time and cost us $600 after tax, an exorbitant fee to change two light switches. This company seems professional and reliable, but the way the quotes are provided is extremely not transparent and even misleading at times. I would not hire them again for this reason. Edit: after leaving a bad customer review, I received a call from a manager who reviewed the file and confirmed that we were overcharged by the electrician. They ended up refunding $200 of the $600 bill.

Amazing service, phenomenal technician!!!! A cold Sunday afternoon in January 2021 and suddenly half the lights flicker, the oven & furnace turn off and won't come back on and no space heaters will work . Mohammed from Electrika talked to us over the phone, asked detailed questions to initially access the issue which helped us determine if we needed to move elderly mom to hotel (temps to -13), we didn't. I've had so many problems finding reliable contractors that I got fed up waiting for call-backs & sudden job cancellations (without any notice), that I decided to go with ELECTRIKA. Within days of booking my appointment, a team showed up exactly as scheduled. I should mention that the receptionist advised me before hand that the travel fee would be $98.00 & did I still want to confirm. So yes, it's a costly fee, but at least I was forewarned & knew what to expect (unlike some other companies that were not upfront about their travel fees). Mohammed & Dylan came to change 2 thermostats & install a new base for a pull-cord light switch. They were professional, thorough & respectful. In addition, I was glad to see that they put on shoe coverings at the entrance, in addition to wearing, masks. I paid a little more to save a lot of aggravation. This alone was well worth the price! To conclude, my experience with this company was positive from beginning to end.
