I needed some general electrical work done and my central vac fixed. I wasn’t sure who would be best for a variety of tasks, so I read online reviews and 4-Star Electric seemed good. I was not disappointed. The positive reviews are accurate. They communicated well and clear on their prices. We’re on time and very professional. The they were at my home for well over 3 hours troubleshooting an electrical problem with the vacuum system and also fixed my outdoor plugs and bathroom circuits in addition to updating my fire detection system. Great work! They did all the above and also provided a full inspection of all my electrical system. They did this for what I consider a reasonable price. Yes the invoice was significant but there was a lot of work done and they spent a considerable amount of time listening to my needs and getting things done right. Definitely worth the cost. I highly recommend this company and will certainly use them again and soon. Great Job ????

Very fast and efficient to get out there and great service (always tell you what is going on) but far too expensive.$189 for an initial call out fee after hours is reasonable, but getting charged $89 to swap an outlet (not wire one in, just swap one out) which is about $10 in parts and 5 min in work. Then for the other problem I had they wanted $120 to change out a breaker, which is a $16 part and 1 min of work. All in all, any small maintenance work you may have I would not recommend them, I was out of town and had to get them in and it ended up costing me about 10x more than doing it myself. these were not difficult tasks that anyone with even limited knowledge would be able to complete.

Polite & professional. I am totally confident and wouldn't want to try any other electric company now. On a previous visit they did panel repairs and rework and caught a fire hazard (arcing) that the home builder's electric company had done as an error. I really recommend 4-Star Electric.

Thanks for the great service! Brad came out to fix a couple of non-functioning electrical outlets. He discovered that the bathroom outlet was wired to only work when the fan was on and was able to rewire the outlet to work independently of the lights or fans without doing any damage to the walls or existing fixtures. Also was able to replace a broken breaker in the breaker box. Appreciated that Brad explained things to clarify what he was doing and that he assessed things carefully and asked before proceeding with the work. I found the guys nice but, maybe it was part of the job to "sell" things. they were offering me a protection plan and then were asking me if I wanted this or that. I needed to have a 240V outlet installed in my garage. It would involve pulling a line from my basement service panel. I had received 3 estimates for this job. 4-Star was not the cheapest but was also not too far off the other estimates. I chose 4-Star because they were extremely professional, and personable. All of their employees (from their office staff to their field techs) seem very well trained and easy to work with. Communications with everyone was also timely and very good. Thomas came to give me the initial estimate. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Ultimately, when I gave the OK to do the job, Trevor and Andres came to the house. They were personable, did not seemed rushed and yet were very efficient. A new transformer was needed, he obtained a quotation and permission to install it. He went to get the transformer from the distant supplier. He returned with the device after being seriously delayed in rush hour traffic, installed and tested the replacement and the work was done. He then carried out the Safety Survey and we discussed needs, obtained an estimate by email before the day ended and left the work site in impeccable condition. Well recommended.

We'd been looking for an electrical contractor to instal a level 2 EV charging outlet in our garage and noticed a 4-Star Electric van in our neighbourhood with several consumer award emblems. After finding excellent reviews online, we hired them for our charging station installation plus a few other electrical issues around the house. We had an excellent experience, starting with a prompt and friendly call from their office to schedule the work, followed by notice of their impending and timely arrival, professional attitude and competent job execution. They go through the proposed work and provide an exact cost for each job at the outset so there's no misunderstanding. They also do a routine home electrical safety check as part of their service. The EV charging outlet was so neatly installed in the garage with the connection coming up the wall from the panel in our basement that even the City of Calgary inspector was impressed!

The electrician, Mike, was amazing and answered a ton of questions. The company however has extremely poor communications. I have been waiting for over a month regarding a switch that used to work and when they replaced the light fixture to LED, it no longer worked. I asked them to come back and fix it and I would pay them - I'm not asking for a free service call. Trevor just ignores my emails. The lady that works there responds quickly but Trevor is the manager. He responded once and gave some answers about why it does not work, but has not offered any solutions or answers and has not offered to come to fix the problem. They had come to do an aluminum restoration on half my outlets, but now I am hesitant to hire them to replace the other half. I am going to find another company to finish the work. I cannot give this company a recommendation due to lack of communication and resolution. UPDATE! After my original review, the service manager, Trevor, connected with me. He did everything possible to remedy the situation. After a couple back-and-forth emails, Trevor was quick to send out another electrician, Andres. Like Mike, Andres was professional, super friendly, and did not leave until everything was perfect. I am changing my rating to 5/5 stars. Even though our path to resolution was longer than we had expected, we are happy with the results. Now I can (and will) recommend 4-Star with confidence.

I had 2 issues that needed addressing, one turned out to be a very simple issue that was fixed very quickly, the other was a faulty fixture that was only 3 years old. He gave me options to fix it and fixed it immediately. He was professional and courteous. After he left the lights went out in my basement area. I texted 4 star to let them know what had happened and they sent the technician back immediately. Turns out that the bulbs blew at the same time and it had nothing to do with his previous visit. This morning, our smoke detector went off, and I was unable to fix it. I did not hesitate to phone 4-Star Electric, as they were the company we hired 2 or so years ago to install a new furnace, air conditioning unit, and smoke detectors. Within 25 minutes of placing a phone call to them, a gentleman, named Tom was at our door. He was very polite, professional, informative, friendly, neat, well prepared, and had manners. He put our minds at ease and explained everything, exactly in detail, what he was doing and why. He replaced one of the smoke detectors and left absolutely no mess. Our smoke detector was covered under a warranty, which we did not know. Tom informed us of this and explained how he knew this information, before he arrived. Talk about being proactive and prepared!! The price was more than fair, for the professionalism that gave us, peace of mind. After the work was completed and payment made, Tom left us his business card, and advised us to call again, anytime, if we needed to, regardless of time. It is because of awesome, individuals, like Tom, that make 4-Star Electric the very best Electric Company that they are. With out people like Tom, I doubt 4-Star Electric would be as successful as they are. I have, and will continue to recommend 4-Star Electric to anyone. Had to have 40A wiring done to a new cooktop when existing wiring was only good for 30A. Completely finished house/basement. Also added a number of adders once electrician was here. Day long job, not a speck of dust left afterwards. Very tidy, and a very clean installation - I was worried my basement ceiling would be all hacked up, but it was done with no blemishes, only two access holes that are very well concealed. Awesome job, would recommend, would use them again myself without hesitation.

I hired 4-Star to move a doorbell transformer and remove an old transformer from my electrical panel. The charge was $197 which seemed high for a simple job with few parts taking less than one hour. Then they inspected my electric panel and convinced me to change two improperly sized breakers to avoid future damage to the panel. They quoted me $260 which I found high and they would not negotiate. So I had them do the job anyway which took less than 15 minutes. After they left I found the price for the two breakers on Amazon at $20 each. So this means they charged me $220 for 10 minutes of work. Very upsetting!! The service was good but they are just way over priced. Call an independent electrician and save your money.

These guys are amazing! So professional and know their stuff! My dad's home had some electrical issues we had a journeyman electrician in to fix the problem, it took him over 10 hours (over 2 visits) and he still didn't fix the issue. Excellent service. I was having a fireplace fan installed, but part of their service is to assess the overall electrical services to the home. After the review, I found out that my hardwired smoke detectors were no longer working and that there were significant code violations related to the breaker box (wrong breakers for the box, loose breakers and illegal connections that were done when the basement was finished, etc.). Had there been a fire, I would not have been covered by insurance. Well worth the upgrades required to make sure the electrical system met all standards. Their technician Scott was fantastic and went over everything beforehand.

Definitely I will rate them 5 star!! This is based on my experience with their service. First time called for changing a door bell. very reasonable rate. so I keep their business card on the panel. Second time, call them for a free quote. I told them I may not proceed to go ahead, just want to know the cost if I have to, they still show on time. During their visit, I asked quite some silly questions, they have the patience to answer and gave me the most honest suggestion. Trust me, as a regular customer that is short of money in this economical environment--if you have any electrical problem, it will not hurt to give them a call first. If not happy, you can always try someone else. But my experience is that the second one I called (after I told him my situation), he never showed up in my place just leaving me waiting whole afternoon which really sucks.

They stuck beside me for weeks after the job was done and delt with issues that were no fault of their own just to make sure I didn’t get scammed by my property manager (long story). For example, we like that they give a quote before they start the work and that the resulting price is exactly the same when they are done, unless we add to their work, which they also quote for ahead of time. We also appreciate that they are very careful in and outside the home. They also cleanup during and after their work so you would never know they were even there. We especially appreciate that they have the customer’s best interests in mind and that they are very professional in their approach to their work. Mike did the last work we had done. He was great to work with and solved all of the problems we had. It’s hard to find a professional electrical service these days where they care about the customer and work that they do. 4 Star Electric is that company!

We have been looking for an electrician for awhile and heard an ad on Shine FM for 4 Star Electric. We were having problems with circuit breakers. We live in an older house and it seems like everything was giving way at the same time. Andres came out and from the moment he stepped in the door and started chatting, we knew we had a winner. Andreas went through the panel with my husband, found the problem(s) and was able to fix it. Because of the age of the panel, he also made some sound suggestions. Andreas was thorough, explained things well and is extremely personable. At no time did we feel he was trying to “sell” us something. He was simply doing his job and making recommendations so that we wouldn’t have further problems down the road. He let us with quotes we could compare and my husband and I decided that it would be in our best interests to have Andreas back soon to replace our panel and circuit breakers, install some new smoke detectors and just bring everything up to code. We hadn’t decided whether we wanted to move from the house or sell and relocate, but either way we knew that more work had to be done and the only person I would be comfortable with doing it would be Andreas. Sometimes it’s luck of the draw who you get to service your home but we feel we struck gold with having Andreas do repairs and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

Overcharges for simple work and will take advantage of your lack of knowledge. I was charged $700 for a switch repair on a panel. Additionally, I needed quotes on changing my service to 100amp, and new panel install. 4-Start tech talked about everything that need to be changed, and came back with a quote of $6,800 that included a $500 discount. I called in two competitors for quotes and received quotes that were 3,000 less. That quote difference is extreme. I do not believe 4Star is ethical or professional.

2nd call to 4 star, original work ( COC inspection items from a home owners permit ) were taken care off. Going forward, some items were discoverd in previous wiring that led to a over loaded circuit. Initially I was frustrated with new code requirements and my lack of DYI, specifically, original wiring conflicting with my DYI. The follow up visit I requested to do a slight modification was scheduled promptly. Andres attended on schedule and did the work perfectly. The company's rates were fair and reasonable.
