Awesome customer service. My situation was that lights flickering and major appliance not working in my apartment. It was afternoon and I didn’t realize that the whole block was out of power. So I called and have a electrician come when available. Then I went out to get a quick bite and saw that the whole area was out of power. The electrician called back and told me to call BCHydro first and see what is going on. I will definitely call these guys again if I have issues with electrician problems in the future (knock on wood). I just save myself $500-600. You guys rock.

It is now 2:45 Tuesday morning, and a Houle Electric Van has been outside my building since just after 11pm doing some sort of "maintenance" on the garage of the building next door. The noise is similar to standing next to a small aircraft engine, and has been non stop. I'll definitely be filing a complaint with the city, not that I expect much to come if it. Thanks Houle!

Update: still no word. So: you furnish an estimate for a job, receive the monies, and complete 1/4 of the job? I'm finding this common with BC Housing / govt contractors. I guess since it's government cheese, and most of the BC housing clients don't really know what's going on it's a big tax money fleece. Who knows what they're doing. If your service was consistently awful with private clients, you'd be sunk. I hired a contractor to clean up the mess, and have advised BC Housing as to what they can expect from you moving forward. Cheers. UPDATE: You can see at the bottom of my review, that Houle "reached out" to me. I called the number, and left a clear, concise message for Kyal, with my contact information. That was a month ago. I still haven't received a call. We are Foster care providers, and live in a home that is managed by BC Housing. When we took over occupancy, there were several issues which needed attention. Namely, electrical outlets, or rather lack thereof; in the tv room/home theater, downstairs bedrooms, and top floor office/tv room. The HT and upstairs office each had one single outlet to serve the entire room. This resulted in overloading of circuits, hot wires, and fire hazard, as well as inconvenience. Houle came and did a walk through, and we addressed each area. The work to be done and agreed upon was : downstairs HT/tv room, 5 outlets to be installed. Downstairs bedroom, one outlet. Main level bedroom, lightswitch, upstairs office/tv room, add outlets. The came and did the work shown in the pics. My understanding is that basement outlets are to be 16" above ground level... As you can see they are approximately 4" above floor. And as you can see they just took a ripsaw along the wall and did a mediocre patch up job. They went upstairs, installed a light switch, then left, saying they "ran out of money" I suppose they feel that BC Housing dwellings don't qualify for professional treatment or work. The men were well groomed and polite, their trucks were clean and well equipped, all in all the appearance of a top flight outfit. I don't know where we went wrong guys, but 3 years later I'm still unimpressed. I'll patch this up and paint. We brought in independent contractors for the upstairs work. One star.

They have always strived to meet our needs and continue to work closely with me as we work through the warranty period post construction. They came twice and didn't get the job done. First visit, they didn't fix what they were supposed to (light sensor), instead they got an electronic timer. They messed it up, had to come back. Still didn't fix it. My brother had to spend nearly an hour to fix the mess they made on a Sunday, his day off!

The technian arrived, on time and was appreciative of how we had prepared his work environment. He was more than willing to answer questions as well as re-installing our ceiling fan. Even asking him if he had time before his next job to install our new thermostat, didn't phase him. He was thoroughly professional throughout and we shared many anecdotes while he did his work. I had my son which had just started at Houle come and check if I could add onto my main panel and was told it was too small so He came out one day and installed a new panel and rewired about 2/3 of the panel as well as run wire for my basement and kitchen reno. I was really impressed by the way the wiring was done inside the panel as every length was identical ( picture perfect ). When asked he said every customer gets this attention from Houle. When the opportunity came along to join the Houle Family I took it and was impressed as from Day one they made me feel like I had worked with them for years. Never used them for electrical work, but I will as soon as I need an electrician! Why? I was pulled over near Gaglardi and Hwy 1 on my motorcycle, in order to make a phone call. Hot busy day, rush hour, yet a Houle van pulled over and the tech walked over to ensure I was ok. I waved him off with my thanks and he continued on his way, but it’s having these type of people as employees that can only make you a better company!
