Where to start. Perhaps it is best said, if you're in a pinch and you need a trusted friend to see you through - call Big Hill Electrical. I'd describe our time together as a journey. Harold and his team have rallied to be our allies as we approach winter and our electric furnace defies repair. This industrious team has come up with several ideas on how we can get the support we need to get our heat running again for winter (where other companies have declined to come out at all or have said "yeah, we can't figure it out" and walked away). And while we are together in marathon-mode, Big Hill Electrical is not backing down from this challenge. I know that in most instances, electrical needs are straight-forward and you're looking for someone competent and honest and fairly-priced. My wife and I are converting an existing accessory building on our acreage near Bragg Creek, Alberta into a dwelling. We hired Big Hill to install all the new wiring needed and to bring the existing wiring up to code. Jason came out and did a thorough quote for everything required. The crew who did the work (Steve and Ivan) were competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. They had creative suggestions and solutions for running the new wiring and making use of what was existing. They had a good attitude when it came to working in some challenging conditions including a tight crawlspace under the building. The Rocky View County electrical inspector had no issues with their work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use Big Hill again.

Over the past 8 years I have used Big Hill Electrical Services a number of times to perform new electrical work or smaller upgrades. They have done Cat 6 data installs for a number of new classroom portables. These were done with care, including patch panel punchdowns and labeling of both patch panels as well as termination ports in classrooms. Jason and Harold also did power upgrades to a small server room/datacenter, again with an eye to a very high quality of workmanship. Recently they did a power upgrade to support a video wall composed of 12 46" displays. Harold and Jason are always reachable and communicate well. They are prompt for site visits and if an unforeseen delay occurs, I know about it right away. I highly recommend them!

Just moved into the Bragg Creek area and called Big Hill Electric about my house lights flickering. I chose to call Big Hill because they had the best reviews on the internet. Harold, the owner called me and he walked me through a few tests within the house. With no evident signs to suggest there was something wrong with the wiring in our home, he advised that I call Fortis the electric company to see if there is an issue with their end. Fortis came out and discovered that all the wires were loose within the meter box. The Fortis linesman tightened everything up and we were good to go. The Fortis guy had great things to say about Big Hill and Harold! In the end, Harold was right with his diagnosis and I will reference Big Hills contact number and will be our go to company for any future electrical work.

I called Big Hill about 2 outdoor plugs that had no power. I got a call later that day from a Big Hill Tech, He asked a few questions then directed me to go downstairs to my panel where there was a GFI breaker that was tripped. I reset and my 2 plugs are now working. He could have easily turned this into a service call rather than direct me to reset the breaker. Instead he saved me a service call which I thanked him for. I’ve dealt with Big Hill when I was getting a hot tub installed and received exceptional service for that job as well. I highly recommend Big Hill for all your electrical needs.

Although this had not been planned on, the crew from Big Hill had the cord and quickly ran it so we can now change the temperature of our tub while visiting relatives in Australia! That is service!

Truly believe the owners strive to provide good services to the area. Unfortunately it's hit-and-miss, depending on who comes to your house. I experienced awesome (small job), average and bad (big job) experiences with their electricians. Last on one was terrible, not only poor quality but overcharged and just a bad attitude! As mentioned, the owners will try to fix these situations; unfortunately they stick by their electricians' lies and they don't bother to actually check the facts, they go with what they're told. They may reduce your final bill a bit as a gesture of good faith but not to a fair amount. Maybe the problem is that it's hard for them to find good journeymen and they're forced to work with whoever is available...

Our ceiling fan stopped working so we contacted Big Hill Electric about changing out the fan that included a remote controller. The person who took the call indicated that we should buy a fan and then contact them when ready to install. We obtained one with a remote as we didn’t want to use pull chains because of our high ceiling. They were prompt at coming out, and the electrician was efficient and had the fan installed in about an hour. It turned out the remote that we had purchased didn’t work properly and rather than get another one, the electrician suggested using a controller installed as a wall switch that he had with him. It turns out the wall switch was a much better choice. The only thing I would suggest is to possibly provide more information to the client regarding options, especially about the method of control, before they purchase a fan (e.g., a wall switch controller versus a remote - we didn’t know at the time we could retrofit a wall switch). All and all we were very pleased with the job done and would definitely recommend the company.
