Yukon is really lucky to have this course. The grounds-keeping crews do a phenomenal job given the challenges of running such a facility “North of 60”. The driving range is an excellent facility. There is a well-stocked pro shop. Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), dry snacks, and sandwiches are available at the pro shop, but there is no formal dining facility. Overall, Mountain View offers good amenities at a reasonable price.
As a visiting golfer, you will find this course to be fun yet challenging. You do not see the other holes when golfing, which gives the course an exclusive feel. The fairways are medium width I would say. Some say they are tight, but I have seen tighter. The dense boreal forest around the holes means that you can expect to lose balls or take a few strokes coming out. Beyond the rough and between the treeline you will find a zone where it can be sandy with no topsoil or grass and often there are tree roots protruding out. Water does not factor much on this course. Only holes #2 and #10 have water coming into play. There is frequently a south wind on this course and holes like the Par 5 on #3 will play longer than what the scorecard indicates. Hole #16 is a challenging Par 3 over a gully that Mountain View considers their "signature hole".
The reason why I do not give the course five stars is that some of the staff in my experience have been unwelcoming. This is not true for the majority of the staff that work there. Most of the staff provide friendly and top-notch customer service. However, a portion of the staff, for whatever reason, exude arrogance. They are not receptive to any critiques of aspects of the golf course, and will make it a point to demean you (sometimes surprisingly and publicly), if they feel that you did not show the facility or the staff the proper respect and reverence they think they deserve. However, this is an exception at Mountain View and by no means the norm. These minor issues should in no way discourage golfers from enjoying a fun round with their friends at this facility.
