Canines & Company is a top tier school for dog training, and has been for decades! Erika is innovative in her approach, and her training techniques are highly effective.
Individual canines, like their humans, exhibit a unique array of really high points, with perhaps a few contentious ones thrown in the mix! Erika operates from a no-nonsense approach and a deep understanding of canine & handler psychology and interactive style. With patience and humour, Erika deciphers the basics of both your needs, and offers the best method that you and your doggie should adopt while you develop your best relationship ever. Four of my lucky canines, over the past 20 years, have given Canines & Company a very high paw!
My dog was very reactive with other dogs, fights, I had almost given up and resented my dog when I finally asked for help. Erika told me what I was doing wrong and totally rehabilitated my relationship with my dog. Sometimes advice can be hard to accept but it needs to be said and HEARD. These are great trainers and people but they will tell you why you are not making progress, sometimes the truth hurts but it WORKS!
I’ve known and trained with Erika for many years and it was wonderful to reconnect with her this year at a Puller workshop on Vancouver Island. No surprise it was a worthwhile and rewarding weekend of learning. I’ve trained with many people over the years and in my opinion she is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced dog trainers I know????
I have been attending Canines and Company since I got a puppy and have had nothing but success, very professional, friendly service. I have recommended them to friends and they also have had great success training here. All the trainers have been wonderful.
I cannot say enough good things about Erika and Canines & Company. I was referred to Erika and her online training program from one of her previous students. I was unsure of what to expect doing training via video, text and voice notes, but it has been amazing. My rescue mutt Red and I are able to work at our own pace, while checking in with Erika to make sure we are on the right track. It’s particularly helpful because I can send a quick video and she replies back quickly with notes to improve or to let us know we are doing it right. With Red being older and not knowing his past life, being able to work at our own pace and move to the next level when we are ready instead of weekly, like a traditional in-person class, it takes the pressure off and I feel like we are making improvements in the right way. Plus the one-on-one approach means we are working on building a bond with obedience but also addressing his specific issues. On top of that, the approach of “firm, but friendly” resonates so much and is working. As I said, I can’t say enough about the process, approach and Erika specifically, it’s been fun and helpful.
Erika is a great teacher and has taught me things I've not learned before.
We've been taking classes with Erika and her staff for over a year and are so very pleased with the progress that our puppy and ourselves have made. We are continually amazed and grateful for Erika's knowledge about dogs and her willingness to share that knowledge with her students.
Our dogs love going to day school at Canine and Company. They come home happy and tired. Great staff very helpful. Amazing Trainers for dogs and helping train the handler as well.
Canines & Company has been an absolute blessing in my life. I only just started taking my dog, Isla there over a month ago and it has changed both of our lives. I can't recommend it enough and after having some pretty discouraging experiences with other trainers in town I am so happy to have found such a wonderful place. Gordon taught the puppy fundamentals class that I was in and did an amazing job. His approach is easy to follow and very thorough. In addition, he constantly motivated me to keep working hard and was very inspiring. I am looking forward to taking more classes in the new year and accomplishing goals. Thank you guys so much!
Great people and great services provided!
Super well prepared staff who cares not about the dogs but the owners. Erika has given us lots of tricks, information, techniques and hope to guide us with our first puppy. We couldn't be happier. Thanks, Canines & Company!
I have been going to Canines & Company for months now and loving every class. My pup gets SO excited when we pull into the parking lot and always leaves tired and happy. I went from knowing little about dog training to feeling very comfortable working with my dog. She's a feisty little thing and I can't imagine how out of control she would be if it weren't for the awesome trainers at C&C.
I had a great experience in dealing with canines and company. Gordon Rozsa is great with instruction, very knowledgeable and dedicated to being professional. I would recommend everyone to seek dog obedience and training from canines and company.
"If you seek a happy dog but not a well trained dog you often get neither. If you seek a well trained dog but not a happy one you often get both" If you want a happy dog, Canines and Company is where you want to go to accomplish that! Erika has such a deep understanding of the differences in personalities and is able to help all handlers understand their dogs and build a beautiful relationship on trust and understanding. She is kind, patient and direct so you dont misunderstand direction. She corrects without becoming harsh and her only goal is everyone's success which is clear in every interaction one has with her! All the other trainer who assist in the school are also knowledgeable, with years if not decades of experience, and have assisted us with any new questions with kindness, understanding, patience and good humor. Erika will train you, the human, to communicate clearly and effectively with your dog so they understand the boundaries and expectations.
Been with canine and company since my oldest dog was roughly a few months old. Since than we have taken roughly 16 courses and attended their day care. Now I have a new addition to my family which Erika helped me select by picking the best breed to work with my life style and current dog. I never thought I would be adding a second dog into my family till I worked with the crew of canine and company. They have taught me many things and helped me set up my home in an environment that is healthy and educational for both my dogs. They are always available for questions.
I've trained 4 dogs over the past 15 years with Erika at Canines & Company. Erika has a gift and understands people and animals on a level that very few can. She selects her co-trainers for the same quality. Canines & Company doesn't just teach you how to train your dog, it teaches you to understand your dog and build a relationship based on trust, play and respect.
Canines and company has been so helpful for me to balance fitting a challenging breed dog (KBD) into our busy family. We welcomed a puppy into our family with a baby and toddler. Canines and company has given me a system to manage the madness. With their advice and methods I am able to look after everyone without feeling stressed. Not only do they provide a comprehensive way to teach your dog obedience but they give advice on how to manage the dog in your house. The instructors truly care about the success of each person/dog relationship. After just one lesson I already saw a difference. Now that my rambunctious, energetic, high prey drive, bite-y, and feisty puppy is 7 months old I can see he is in his way to becoming a well mannered and dependable dog. If you want to be able to go places and do things with your dog, if you wang to have them work for you (and enjoy it!) then Canines and Company is the place.
Erika was amazing to work with and we loved her classes when my pup was growing thank you
I’ve only known Erika for a few short months, but our world has been completely changed for the better with our new knowledge and approach to being safe and effective handlers for our two pooches. Thanks for being such a great mentor! ???????????? ???? Stacey, Miller and Fenrir
I've worked with Canines & Company for over a year now. I've been lucky enough to work with every trainer in one way or another. All of the trainers are incredible. My dog is a Rottweiler/German Shepherd/other cross. He is an especially difficult pup, with aggressive tendencies in his blood. Canines & Co (especially Erika) have gone completely above and beyond what I could ever have asked for to help me in any way possible. Including classes, answering questions after class, answering questions during their personal time, private lessons, doggie day school, taking my pup a few extra days when I was incredibly busy, amazing seminars, and so so so much more! They give a lot to their students. The way they structure their classes and the progression in levels is great. I would reccomend Canines & Co to anyone in a heartbeat! This is truly an amazing school. We are so lucky to have them here! The play skills and PULLERS are by far the best part!!!!!
Clean and organized space with excellent trainers.
I have been training with Erica at Canines and Company since the summer of 2008. Erika taught myself and my dog Morikai the foundations he needed to be an amazing dog. He is almost 11 years old now and I still get praised on how well behaved and well socialized he is. I have had the pleasure of working with Erika again with my second dog Diva starting in 2015. Diva was a rescue and came to me with a world of problems. She is dog and people reactive and scared of many new situations. Erika introduced us to puller as a tool to create a bond with my new dog. At first I was skeptical about how this could help but over the years it has helped us work as a team. Diva has attended reactive classes as well as basic obedience level 2. We still have a long road ahead of us but I have learnt so much about dog behaviours, cues, and always being in control of the situation. I honestly dont think I would be as good of a dog owner without the help of Erika through the years. I can not thank her enough for all the knowledge she has taught me.
I adopted my "Yukon Special" Max in 2013 when he was about 9 months old, and started training with Erika at Canines & Co shortly after. I'd had a lot of dogs, but never really trained them to do much. Well, what an eye-opener! So much to learn, a lot of it for me (train the trainer!), how to stand, how to treat properly, how to play, and how to work. Max is 7 years old now, and a joy to continue training, largely in part to a solid, strong foundation that we learned together at Canines & Company. Max & I were also there when Erika brought PULLER to Canada and the Yukon in 2014, and it is a game-changer in terms of focus and help in training. Try PULLER if you haven't!!
We have trained 3 corgis over the past 17 years with Canines and Company, and can't say enough good things about Erika (including genuinely caring about and helping us train our first very challenging corgi). Now we are back in training with an 8 month corgi and have had the benefit of learning with the rest of the team: Gordon, Tanya, and Renata. Like Erika, these trainers are knowledgeable, supportive and kind and make us all feel like we and our dogs are A students. The day school with Sam has also been fantastic, as she continues the training and socialization with our pup. We feel lucky to be part of Canines and Company.
I've been attending Ca&Co's classes two years now. I have a pretty difficult dog, he is stubborn and dominant. I don't want to imagine how our life would have turned out with him, if I haven't find Canines and Company. We still attend their classes, because they are fun, we always have a good time, and you can always learn something new. I'd definitely recommend to others, and already did lots of times.
