There is covid and a lot of things have changed. The first two weeks was the HR week and it was fun. Our instructor is nice and very accommodating. After the HR week, we were given a calendar for what we should do as we’ve transitioned from in class to online for the safety of all. At first I thought we have zoom classes but turns out no zoom classes. After a week of online class we were asked to comeback in class, I was doing very well with all of my classes but now we were thrown in online class again WITHOUT zoom classes again. My instructor is very accommodating and very nice and helped me a lot but I do think that management is not doing anything when it comes to online classes, they weren’t prepared for any platform and instructors are left to just do what they can to provide teaching to their students without any helpful platforms like zoom. It would be really helpful if the management can back up their instructors to provide zoom classes even if just for certain subjects that are vital and important.

I am currently enrolled in the VOICES- A 12-week Diversity and Race Relation Program. This class has been very engaging and informative. The instructor is knowledgeable, competent, warm and enthusiastic. I am glad I took this class and learning a lot about Diversity and Inclusion.

Tearlin Night

I attended the massage and hydrotherapy program and I was supposed to graduate in January of 2022 but I was held back and kicked out bc I had to miss two weeks of school cause I tested positive for covid. I presented the admin a schedule of the hours I missed and how I could have made up those hours in the matter of 30 days. The told me I couldn’t come back bc they didn’t have the teaching capacity to catch me up. This was back in September a month after I started my 4th and final term. I was denied a tuition refund of any kind. Also the two male teachers (including the so called amazing head instructor) are disgustingly vulgar, they make extremely inappropriate comments to the woman that attend there. Just cause we’re of age doesn’t mean your disrespectful comments are welcome.

I took the Medical Office Assistant course and learnt so much from some amazing teachers. I got hired into the Saskatchewan Health Authority half way through my practicum that Mckay arranges for the MOA students. The course is a lot of work so be ready for that. The building itself does really need some upgrades but it's not the worst that I have seen. Good location for students that don't drive, people who complain about parking- well it's downtown what do you expect.

I dont regret going to Mckay for my MOA course. We had our ups and down for passing it. Its not an easy course if you want to work on a medical field. But hey we made it and I am excited to showcase my skills to the real world. I am happy and proud of my course and this school

This place is horrible. My boyfriend made an appointment and the massage therapist cancel because she was sick then they found a replacement but he wasn’t notify of that. They just said you didn’t come to your appointment. Second time my boyfriend and I rescheduled we showed up and no one was there. They schedule us for Friday and there is no fridays as an option on their website.

I would 10/10 recommend the graphics course at Mckay. I just graduated in April 2019. I learnt so much, the instructor is amazing. And I was able to get a job a month after graduating! The school is downtown in a great location, right next to the bus depot.

The first term was alright, I learned a bit. The second term was a mess and just downright sad. The instructor was condescending and pouty if students didn't get along with him or become his best friend. I believe I graduated in 2011. After I graduated, they canned the term 2 instructor for good reason, and the term 1 took over that position, to make matters worse, one of the students who had graduated a term before me was now teaching the term 1 section. Sad, depressing and just inexperience in business. They also offer internships, but my year they failed to organize it, although many of us wanted to take up the offer.

I just recently finished the Community Crisis Responder program and the Voices program as well. Both were very beneficial and I learned so much. The instructor was absolutely amazing and if you get the chance, I highly recommend taking either of the course.

Today, I got my diploma for MOA, it was tough, men!!! But with hardwork and expertise of our instructors, I made it to the finish the line. I will be forever indebted to this amazing training as Medical Assistant. Thanks to our school and our instructors. Highly recommended for MOA.

Lenny Vineham was my Multimedia Graphics Design prof and he showed a lot care for his students. He took the time to address student concerns and promoted their success by being available when needed. He was optimistic and motivated in producing a creative atmosphere for learning and showed flexibility with students input. He took note of student’s strengths and utilized those strengths by incorporating them in certain projects. For me, Lenny took note that my strong point was video capturing and editing and from there he organized a learning opportunity for students by having the class produce a music video with a local band. It was a learning opportunity and there is no doubt the students became more knowledgeable in film production process because of it. Thanks Lenny for believing in your student’s potential!

I graduated from the Graphics/ New Media Course back in October and I learned so much, the instructor really helped me expand on my skills with new media and design in general. It also opened up a lot of doors for me now for work and I'm glad I took the course as a whole!

The Veterinary Office Assistant Program is great. Kelley is an awesome teacher and is very caring and supportive of her students and their education.

Sara Vickery

This schools a joke! The other reviews are so legit. The schools unorganized, unprofessional and depressing lol no one even wants to go to class. The bathrooms never work, the school is dirty. RACHET. The school list they give you is not accurate. You pay $16 a day parking. You don’t learn enough to go into the working world after. What a Waste of money! Would never recommend.

Is this a school. Instructors dont teach anything cuz they dont know anything. We dont have classes just pretend they teach anything. Wish i can go back in time and not get in this school.

Really disappointing in the school with the lack of effort they put in. Wouldn't recommend.

This school is literally only about money. The way they handle many situations is very unprofessional, every situation that is “resolved” seems to be only with a payment. I recently took the MOA course here at McKay and can definitely say it was one of my biggest regrets, this school caused me to have nothing but anxiety & depression constantly.. the amount of times I have seen classmates cry or be very upset because of the way these “instructors” treat the students is beyond ridiculous. Not only do the instructors but as well as management handle sensitive situations very immaturely. Due to Covid we had to be in class half the time and online half the time which was very much a headache as we had to be at school for a morning class and online for an afternoon class, this left little to no time to complete many assignments/lectures that had needed to be completed by a deadline. With being online half the time this cut our clinical hours in class very short.. and caused many students to not be done all the required assignments on time. The instructors had no care to this as students were rushing to try and finish on the last day to complete these assignments.. over half the class were told they “failed” the clinical aspect due to this situation. After many of us students finally got to speak to management about this issue all of these students were told that in order to finish their requirements to complete clinical they needed to pay extra for the “time being used” to complete these assignments. I would personally NEVER recommend this “school” to ANYONE. The constant change in management also shows a lot about this school.

This school is a joke read the other reviews and spend your money some where else.

This place cannot keep instructors. Instructors leave in the middle of the semester all the time. We can never finish a class the proper way. Management does not value employs and it shows. Complaints are fights happen all the time and some days I dont even feel like going to class.

A few of my friends recommended this school to me, I found out their tuition is more reasonable and the office staffs are quick to answer my inquiries and really accommodated me well. Most of all, i had great class experience online & in class. Our instructor is very helpful esp in this challenging times where we have a combination of in class & distance learning. thanks McKay!

The VOA program was extremely comprehensive and covered a wide range of courses and topics. A great stepping stone into the world of veterinarian medicine. Kelley was an outstanding facilitator with an obvious passion for not only animals, but preparing her students for successful careers. Course was challenging but equally rewarding. I would highly recommend it for anyone considering the path of animal care.

Gabrielle Phillip

The program at this school is taught very well, they cover all the necessary topics. I enjoyed my experience here.

This is a good place in learning. ALL of the instructors are very professional and patient and they will surely assist you until you are ready to your chosen field ESPECIALLY IN MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT COURSE. I highly recommend it. All of our instructors are very well-known in the outside field: Clinic and hospitals. I had a wonderful experience in here.

I recently finished the MOA program here and the management doesn’t care about the students. I also wished the school were more accommodating during this pandemic. For our online class we only had facebook videos/ posts from instructors and no zoom classes. We also didn't get a practicum, the CPR course was literally one week before finals, we had no space for social distancing in the class, management made us students wait in the cold/ sun and wait for our instructors to come in before we can. In the bright side, i learned a lot from the instructors specially in the clinical side. However the knowledge they give out is useless as a working medical office assistant.

Highly disorganized. Students were left standing outside every morning regardless of the weather waiting for an instructor to come unlock the door, often late from when classes were supposed to start. With covid we were switched between in class and online multiple times throughout the program. When we were in class no social distancing was possible, despite concerns being raised by many students in my program. While we were supposed to be online we were still asked by our instructor to come in multiple days a week. These class times were changed or cancelled almost daily, including exams times and dates being moved with minimal notice. Overall, not a positive experience and I would not recommend the MAA program through Mckay

McKay Career Training is a excellent school. I am currently enrolled in the VOA program and could not be happier with my choice to start my career here. This program is very educational and I know I will be using ALL of this information in the future as a start my career as a VOA. The VOA teacher (Kelley Stamnes ) is a great teacher she is very well educated and is very easy to talk to about anything. The staff is very friendly, helpful and understanding when it comes to payments, questions etc. The classes are small and allow for quality one on one time with the teacher. I have made life long friends and would defiantly recommend this course to anyone who is considering starting a career in the animal world.

Amber

I am highly disappointed with the experience I had at McKay in the Medical Administrative Assistant program. The entire program and school seemed to be extremely disorganized and unprofessional. Some of the course content was not updated to reflect the content in our textbooks, which caused problems when it came to exams - we were being tested on information that was not included in our textbooks. There were at least two tests where the content was not covered in the lecture, so we were instructed to google the answers. Our assignments and tests were not being marked and handed back in a timely manner. At the end of the program, there were assignments that we had handed in but never received our marks for. Our class and exam times were often canceled or moved with extremely short notice, including final exams. The instructor was extremely unprofessional and disorganized. With Covid we were moved from in class learning to online multiple times. The online instruction was poor, with Facebook being the main platform used for the majority of the course. When we were called back into the classroom, there were few precautions taken and we could not physically distance. Part way through our second term, the school finally provided dividers for between our desks, but they were not transparent, so we had to take them down to see the board and projector screen. Eventually the school implemented a daily temperature scan, which was not performed on a regular basis. When there was a positive case of covid within the school, I received conflicting messages from the administration and the instructor - one message said there was a positive case, and one said there was not. I was also asked by my instructor to contact all my classmates and let them know about the covid case in the school, which was not my responsibility. Overall, I would NOT recommend choosing McKay if you value your time and money.

I started the VOA program back in September 2019 and it has been a wonderful experience. Kelley Stamnes is a very kind and knowledgeable instructor, who has made me feel welcome right from the beginning. Kelley made this program fun, educational, and full of laughter. She has boosted my confidence and my abilities moving forward in my future goals and my new career and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. The school itself has a very warm atmosphere, and the rest of the staff are super friendly. Definitely recommend this school to anyone looking to further their education.
