For the past 25 years, I have dealt with many registries offices, requiring most types of services at one point or another, including corporate, motor vehicle, lien searches, vital statistics, etc. I can honestly say that I have never walked out of one of these offices extremely happy until visiting this one. Within the past week, I took my Class 6 road test through the One Stop License north location with Gary, one of the Driver Examiners. I felt that he scored me fairly and took the time to explain the results of my road test, offering suggestions for improvement when I asked. I'm sure everyone in the building knew right away that I passed as I couldn't contain my excitement when I walked back in to get my license re-classed. I was served by Nicole, who was (sincerely) happy and excited for me and she provided the absolute best customer service I have EVER received throughout the entire process. I was truly amazed. As I have worked in retail for over 10 years, I am usually fairly critical about the customer service I receive, and I have never been so impressed to take the time to write a review, but I really felt the need to do so in this case. I HIGHLY recommend this location for any registry services.

Best service, we were treated so rudely in Sylvan Lake, to the point of where the lady said if your not prepared or don't know what you need don't bother coming back, well we went to Red Deer One Stop which is where I normally attend due to the rudeness of sylvan lake registries, and low and behold we had everything we needed in the first place such friendly fast service, One Stop I will make the drive in always to deal with you. The insurance side of the business is a joke. It takes half a dozen phone calls/ emails to get any type of answer out of them. And then they tell you to contact the insurance company directly for issues, but yet they are getting paid to be the broker........

Staff was nice but the instructor gets 0 stars. The instructor/ tester for the advanced road test (non GDL) was an unfair marker. I don’t think you should be failed for hand positioning and failing to park brake on an uphill park. That’s not enough to fail someone when they had no other disqualifications or violations in the road test. No speeding, stop sign, school zone violations, merging violations of any kind. Plus $150 for the test is a joke in itself. Staff was very kind and professional, it’s a busy place and hectic during covid. And for that I salute you! God bless! I’m never coming back.

This place is always crowded and now with Covid issues it's even worse! Went in to renew plates and I have to use a communal tablet to sign in, no germs there right? Then I have to pass close by a lot of people to go "wait in the corner" just to get called back ALL the way past the lineup again. There was one cranky old lady customer bossing other customers around, like seriously!? There's glass barriers everywhere that do nothing but crowd the people together more. Avoid this place and go to another office till they fix the Covid issues.

I can not believe the service I received today. I am so embarrassed. Kaye is the commissioner of oath at this location and was extremely rude. The documents I brought in today had to be signed by a commissioner of oath or a Notary public. Kaye told me she doesn’t read the documents (which were done incorrect) so I brought them back and asked her to re sign them. She flicked the papers back towards me and rolled her eyes. Very unprofessional, considering your status at your job. Absolutely disgusted at the service we received today.

Horrible experience, waited a week to get my birth certificate replacement so that I could get my government issued ID whi h is the law to carry one only to get turned away until after the weekend so they can override it because I have fines...I understand if it was to replace my license card okay, but its my standard ID card which I need for my Alberta digital ID..again it's mandatory for me to have. I need that for me to start school and now I am delayed a month before I can start school now because of this. When I was reassured this wouldn't happen when I ordered my birth certificate from this very same place!! Horrible service well not return

I wouldn't hesitate to return to this location, because the staff are absolutely AMAZING. I was in a panic to get my registration and license done before the deadlines, but had some unique circumstances to deal with due to the pandemic. Julie knew exactly what to do, how to do it, and was able to explain things to me in a simple manner so I knew what my options were. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was looked after, as have the other staff that I've dealt with here in the past! These guys know their stuff and are really pleasant to deal with.

I went there for registration of my car. I waited for one hour and the lady refused to register the vehicle by saying that " one number from the VIN number looks like 4 instead of 9.. Go and get the initial from seller". Seller already moved from Canada... On her own perception her made decision not to register... Same registration been done online without any issue.... Was at registries to get. A drivers abstract and find out if I had any tickets didn’t tell me my registration lapped by two days got a three hundred dollar ticket on my way out. Staff was rude despite me being polite as I always am to anyone who deals with people. I had some vehicle problems however the examiner was more than patience while I figured my s*** out really he went above and beyond in my opinion and I thank him for that. All I can say is make sure ALL your lights work and all your information is up to date. Once we started the test he was professional and by the book. If you are a good driver and follow the book you should be fine, if you have bad habits might want to take time to change them before the test.

Alright, the desk ladies were awesome. Absolutely no complaints there. But this absolute turd of a human, Jerry (I think that's his name) angry old dude with a terrible mustach that does the driving exams, actually needs to be deceased. It couldn't happen sooner. The non GDL class 5 test is a money grab in itself, but when you do everything absolutely perfect and the guy just makes stuff up to fail you, that is just flat out wrong. He is the worst kind of human, and im not being biased toward myself, believe that. He also talks like a robot in monotone and treats you like a child. I'm 26. Never EVER book a driving exam here. Save yourself the money and go somewhere else. I would actually take my exam here again, only to get in the car with that guy and kick him out of my car in the middle of no where, strip his clothes off, and speed off, kicking up gravel at him. That will be all folks.

Wasted three visits to the other office. What an absolute joke. This place, well worth the wait. The staff are so professional and know their stuff. Couldn’t be more helpful. It is a bit busier, there will be a wait, the staff are under the pump and short staffed. People still choose this place over the alternative one stop in town. After seeing the circus that is the other one stop in town, i understand why.

Took my advanced test on Friday. Wow! It was tough. I can't remember the instructor's name, but he was very fair. But if you think you're ready for the test, make sure you read the testing criteria/ what gets you demerits (idk if its public?). A few tips: I didn't come to a complete stop at the exit of the parking lot- STOP on the way out. Also, make sure you're constantly doing shoulder checks, especially just before you make a right turn (looking for a cyclist). Imo he was very fair, all the demerits I got I deserved. If you want an easy pass, maybe don't go here.. haha. But if you're confident, you may learn a thing or two. :)

I have been here a few times before but doing this review after having a not so nice time at Vital. My latest visit Mar 31. I was feeling very anxious that time as I will be having my road test, but it helped that staff from the moment i entered (reception), to the registry agents (i was served by 2 ladies both welcoming, patient and pleasant to deal) and road examiner, very professional and helpful. I was so stoked that the registries were finally working AGAIN. So I enter this place in a cheery attitude, didnt mind the wait in line. Once I arrived at the clerk she was very unpleasant and acted like she had sand in her crack. So after giving her all my money she decides to take my ID away and I told her I NEED it as I had no other. And I do need it as I dont have a second one, yet she refused. So I stormed out of there a very UNHAPPY costumer. Some of these old hags need to have their heads checked. So very displeased with there service. Deffinately will never go back.

Anyone trying to get their license or GDL - DO NOT go here! And if you go, DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH GARY. Both of my kids very unluckily got booked with this guy to get their upgraded license, and for the record, they’re both very good drivers, have never gotten into any accidents or even any bumps or scratches, no tickets, and both passed their 16 year old license test flawlessly with no demerit points. However, this Gary guy failed them both - for reasons he couldn’t even explain. Both my kids came out of the test so devastated and confused because this guy also made VERY demeaning and hurtful comments to them both. And the end of my sons test, he told him, “You don’t drive much, do you?” Both of my kids said the same thing: that he wasn’t paying a drop of attention the entire time, and the demerit points he gave them didn’t make any sense. My daughter said that he was scribbling frantically at the very beginning of the test on her score sheet, and didn’t touch the sheet for the remainder of the test, and didn’t even watch what she was doing. So basically, it seemed like he decided she failed before she even started driving. He claimed that she failed because of her right hand turns, but she said that she hadn’t even done any right hand turns before he started scribbling. I’ve just read some reviews at this location and many other people have had the exact same thing - Gary, the short, large, old man, failing them with NO explanation and not paying attention to their test. The next person to have Gary, buy a dash cam, record everything that goes on, and prove that this guy is a liar. This test costs $150 and there are good drivers that are getting gypped because of a grumpy, resentful man that fails everyone and doesn’t even pay attention! Not fair to have to pay this fee again and retake a test because of this man! Go to vital on south end, way nicer and honest!

Here's the thing, it's happened before at this same buiness and I never went back for a long time. My place of business won't use them either(they register hundreds of vehicles). 1. I wasnt able to register a side by side that i bought without having insurance on it first. It's not leaving my property, i shouldn't need insurance to tell the gov't i bought it. So i gotta come back and get a different teller next time. There goes 45 more minutes. 2. Wouldn't renew my motorcycle plate because it's registered in mine and wifes name but only my name on insurance (since 2008, registered every year), she doesn't have a bike license and i have a different insurance company for the bike. 3. Registered a peterbilt and was told to sign a bill of sale 'on behalf of, my name' which i did but in a spot she didn't approve of and became flustered at how bad i messed up and showed some coworkers. I kept this transaction separate from the others. In the end, 1 registered vehicle of 3 so far at $93 4. I was renewing 2 personal vehicles, they charge $0.50 per transaction over $100. She did 2 and put them together so it's over $100, now i pay $0.50 extra. 5. Forgot a 3rd personal vehicle, ran out and got paperwork, came back in, different teller, renewed 3rd vehicle for $93, no $0.50 charge. 6. When i got home, i realized all my personal vehicles are insured in both names and only registered in mine. So the whole motorbike can't be renewed because 2 names on regi and only 1 name on insurance........!!! So there's another 45 minute round trip for no reason. 7. She said the best plan is to have my wife "sell" the bike to me (that i already own!), which also requires another 45 minute round trip (3rd one now) that way i get a BRAND NEW license plate with a different number for only the cost of the registration ($55), rather than just changing the registration name which only requires keyboard strokes and no new metal plate which costs $100. Tell me how that makes any sense!!! 8. They don't mail out reminders anymore to save US money, IT'S NOT ANY CHEAPER!!! and we get huge fines for being unregistered. How does that save us money!!! 9. We still need proof of insurance to register/renew. WHY!!!???. It's an offense to drive uninsured, so renew the dang plate and screw em if they get a ticket!!! Registries doesn't know past the second that person walks out the door if the insurance is still valid! Not impressed with the system in general, seems very 'built by government' for public protection without offering any protection or ease of use. Let a laborer/tradesman design the system, it'll be way better!

This would be zero stars! I live near by this branch so I use it all the time. In the past 3 years this branch has cost me 560.00 in traffic fines because of THERE! mistakes. I was at the south store but run by the same people. I can see why people are posting negative remarks. Some of them are friendly but others can be quite curt. What got me mad is they took the wrong photo size for government ID. I went back to them to ask they redo the photo. They wanted me to pay another $21 even though I brought back the rejected photo and the receipt. Outrageous. Go to another license place instead.

Was incredibly arrogant right from the beginning to end of exam. That's the best I've ever driven for a driving test (I'm 30) and I almost failed, due to him making things up that never happened, honestly. Go somewhere else.

I was royally screwed over by them after coming to them looking for help. 3 weeks later I am still waiting on my refund, after I was told it would be here 2 weeks ago. DONT SHOP HERE!! Not the most friendly people working here. Plexiglass protection is down so close to the counter that you can hardly slide your papers under it. No opening to speak thru so you have to nearly yell. Gal serving me made a mistake on the year of my car, clearly written 2019, not 2020.

The drivers test examiner is unqualified to administer the road test. She failed my son for being too close to the curb on a parallel park. He did not ride up the curb, just touched it. He had no other deductions. He was only given one attempt and she finished the test 13 minutes early. I would not recommend taking your drivers test here.

If I could give 0 stars I would! To be clear this is for the insurance portion of the company. Registries have been wonderful. Insurance however...... Worst customer service ever! When they were Northhill Insurance I never had any issues. Now I can’t even get them to return my calls. Changed companies due to their terrible service. Been there for 8 years. Ridiculous don’t use these people they don’t know what they are doing!! Your money is better spent elsewhere.

My husband received an insurance quote one price and then when going forward the price increased significantly because they didn't pull full report. The road test guy was so rude and ignorant today. We were 15 mins earlier. Had all the paperwork done and ready to go and where waiting on him. We could see the road test guy behind the desk he looked over at is a few times. It was now 12:02 (road test was for 12. We had been waiting already) My husband after waitin and being nervous had to pee. He stood up and went pee and sure enough the road guy watched him. Then came over to waiting area asking for him. I said he just left for go to the bathroom quick. . He then looked at his watch pissed off. So the road test already started out him in a mad mood. The. He proceeded to take my husband on a 55 min drive docked him for every little thing. And failed him. My husband has been driving his whole life and is a way better driver than me or most people I know. And this road test guy was just an ignorant prick. And even sat and gave him a 4 minute long speech on how he did everything wrong when he's been driving for 12 years. I would not recommend this place to anyone as the road test guy is very unfair. Rude. And it's just a money grab.

I was in your north store today looking for commissioner and I got to talk to shana stenhouse she's so ignorant I have a form to fill up statutory declaration I ask her if she can help me she said I don't know anything about it you need to fill it up and all what I do is witness your signature and it will coast you 21$ I told her ok I will fill it up, so I did and I came back to her she start getting mad she told me you shouldn't fill up this part its my job, then I told her you just told me to fill up everything and all what you do is witness my signature and that's what I did and she start given me an attitude, I don't understand this women and this place you go there pay your money and they charge you top dollor and they give you a bad attitude make you feel low, I don't know if she hate her job and she wants to take it on the custmor or that's how she deals with people all the time ill never go there.
