You will see the information of people like you who are purchasing the products of Discovery Centre (Driving School) in Nova Scotia territory (Canada).
Right now this firm has a score of 4.3 over 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is really high, and it's based on a large number of opinions, so we may conclude that the evaluation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their review when they are satisfied, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Driving School is classified in the category of Tourist attraction.
Really a great spot for all kids (okay maybe 3y+): So much to explore and discover - or just to play or do crafts. Our kids never got bored in the discovery center.
One of the better science centres I've been to. This place is very interactive and excellent for kids. Little man was learning stuff and he didn't even know it, he was having so much fun. Good place to add to your visit to Halifax.
Great staff
Waste of time and money. The customer service is terrible. The original location may have been dated, but it didn't feel like a big corporation just out to make money. Very disappointing.
Awesome!
Updated facility is amazing!!!
I really enjoyed taking the kids, there were plenty of things for them to see and do, and quite a few things I found interesting as well. The only reason I didn'tgive a 5 star rating is the elevator, they have only one and the wait time seems quite long. I would think a space so large would have at least 2 to accommodate people who can't walk so many stairs. Overall, a great place for the family to spend a fun filled afternoon!
My 9-year old daughter loved this place. She particularly liked the energy section. She learned while having fun.
The staff there were polite and friendly to us
Large glorious building but for the most part boring attractions. You will be lucky to kill an hour. For 46 bucks for a familly of 4 i dont recommend it. In response to your response i did see the immersive stars show in your dome theatre and was expecting more space imagery and less Greek mythology. Also saw your live animal show and admit it was the best thing there. I understand your pricing and am willing to pay that for my family to go to whatever but theres wasnt enough interesting stuff to keep us entertained for much more than an hour.
Great place for kids
My wife, kids and I went to the Discovery Centre to see what it was all about. I was impressed with the exhibits on the upper floors. The suspension bridge and the bubble room were cool. I recommend this to any family with little ones.
Right after the Discovery Centre opened in its new place, it was horrible. We were told by staff that we couldn't enter areas because we didn't have young children. I remember being at the old one in 2011 for a human body exhibit and it was so amazing so after that I was super disappointed.
Fantastic family fun. Great for inclement summer weather days. Fun for all ages. Not many food options. Cost should be reduced for family - family four is $50+ for entry.
For little kids, it’s a must go place if you are in Halifax . Lots of knowledge and fun activities
The place is nice but not really big. Is a great place for kids to play!! Most go if u have kids !!!
the new location for the Discovery Centre is modern, shiny and colourful. .... There is a mixture of some interactive exhibits and lots of static exhibits - The top floor has the free play lego, a cafe, the bubble stuff and some soft furnishings. there is one main entrance into the play area with a sign that specifies it's for age 8 or younger. All other floors are loud because all the surfaces are hard and the noises are constant. By the time our family wrapped up and left, everyone had a headache. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Keep in mind that this is very basic, very beginner levels of science and discovery. If your kid still likes Sesame Street, this is the place for you. amenities: the accessibility for strollers and persons using wheel chairs was pretty good with the exception of the innovation lab - one stroller made it crowded and jammed up the flow. The bathrooms were very clean. There is a gift shop - which seems to have less stock than they had at their old location but has all the usual sorts of sciency things - plastic rock tumblers, rubicks cubes, geodes, and Mindstorm Lego .. etc.
Really cool place, a great spot to bring kids - although as adults my friends and I loved it too, and the "sets" are always changing, so there's always something new to see. I would definitely recommend this place.
An excellent place for children (and kids at heart) to have fun with educational purpose! There are multiple levels, each one with a unique selection of activities. The place itself reminds me of the science world’s in western Canada. I would recommend this a a stop during your visit to the Halifax docks.
Great spot to take the kids for an afternoon. Always interesting exhibits. The innovation lab was a huge hit!
Great place. A lot of information about sustainability, ocean protection and much more. Good place to young kids too with interactive toys and games.
My kids always have so much fun at Discovery Centre and learn something new every time! The staff are all knowledgable and very patient. The kids are always super excited when there's a new exhibit! And for us the annual membership was immediately worth it after 2 visits, we now go a couple times a month!
We chose to have our son's 6th birthday party at the centre. We couldn't have been happier with the space & staff at hand. Everything was well coordinated from the get-go and staff were enthusiastic and engaging with the kids.
Great place to be interactive and learn for everyone in the family! Three floors of interactive exhibits and stations to learn about dinosaurs to the kids floor where you can stand inside a bubble ????
(Translated) It is the best place for our children. Where to find every day (Original) 우리아이들에겐 최고의 장소이다. 매일 찾고 싶은곳
I love this place! I went a few months ago with my husband and we were in love with the animals and with the expositions there. Is awesome!!
Not what it used to be.
Fun for the family
Great place for families to spend their times! It’s fun for the entire family.
Kids love going to the discovery centre. The lego exhibit was awesome but the upper floor has had the same experiments/Displays for quite some time. An update would be a great idea
Amazing place to bring kids of all ages!!
Very cool exhibits. Wednesdays are free from 5 to 8!
Does not have nearly as much for all age groups as the old discovery centre. Its missing the simple things from the old place: optical illusions, spinning chair, running speed exhibit, I could go on. Great for your kids, especially the top floor for young ones.
We took our grandchildren to the survival of the slowest exhibit.......we all loved it! We watched Dillion explain about the animals and how much care and interest that he took in the kids. He made sure everyone who wanted to feel the animals got their chance.! We learnt a lot and also enjoyed seeing the animals in their enclosures!
It is a nice place for the kids to have fun. It is very expensive bringing three kids and 1 adult. I put them in the summer camp their and they hated it. They told them they were going to put them on ropes, but they said that they said that to make all the kids listen. I would go their once in the summer.
My 5 year likes to go. Live science demos are great for this age.
I took my toddlers for an afternoon. They had fun but it wasn't as good as I remembered it. The place was packed. Kids were running around pushing and fighting with little to no supervision. Staff weren't doing anything. Overall, kids enjoyed it but it was still disappointing.
Amazing staff, shows and activities. Fun for adults and kids. Learning at its best. Great value for the admission.
(Translated) It's really the best place for kids! The children's experience-oriented organizations are so good! Time has not come to enjoy! It is a joy to travel with children.
Good place with child. A lot of stuff is waiting for the smaller ones. Some stuff is waiting for adults. Good spot for ~3h of fun. Bring your own food and drinks.
This science museum is really aimed at children, more so than many others I have been to. Almost everything is interactive and at 3 years old the kids where having a blast. We had to leave after 2 hours to get some food but we could have easily stayed longer as there were many installations that the kids would have gladly stayed at much longer. We also had a great time, there is a lot to read and learn about. The prices are very reasonable. Note that there is no parking at the museum, there is a paid parking across the street.
My 2 yo and I had a blast there!
Perfect place to spend time with kids. There are lots of activities to do like Lego, building models, playing computer games... I would say best place in Halifax for kids and families. Only one disadvantage there is no free parking around.
Amazing place for kids and tweens. Each floor can easily take an hour long (3 floors full of activities). Even kids play section on top floor is amazing for everyone. Great place. Public parking 2 min away (approx 3 dollars an hour)
This place is amazing for little people and adults. We not only loved the price for tougher people who might interact with less things, but the construction to reduce noise. We have been to quite a few science centres and this one rocks. We'll be coming back!!
Enjoyed this one more than the one in Vancouver
Great place to take the kids, they are entertained and learn. March break was a great time spent here.
Great idea to spend time with children
Really fun to visit with our daughter . She had lots of fun !
(Translated) Fantastic place to go with educational purposes for all ages, the different exhibitions are very attractive and interesting due to the great presentation design, on my first visit I loved being able to discover the wonderful world of extinct dinosaurs, I enjoyed touring the entire exhibition and interacting with the different exercises available.
Great place
Good for families with kids under the age of 8? No parking, tired old stuff but great staff.
A good spot to spend a few hours. The shows are interesting. Some of the exhibits could use some maintenance.
Good for kids, check what exhibits are on before you go.
Very interactive place, tons for kids to explore and learn. The dome theatre is a cool experience too. We didn't even have time to do everything! We will definitely be returning
Great interactive activities for the kids
One of the best places to learn! Everything is so interactive and so fun!
Loved it. Will be back!
The first time or two we enjoyed it. Kids aren't as interested after spending a few hours there. Same things, nothing new.
Great time. I always get the season pass for my family. The kids love it.
Granted my partner and I are in our late twenties but we didn't find any of the exhibits interesting. We were in and out in 30 minutes.
Lots of displays, interactive content, virtual reality, etc stuff to keep, kids entertained (the LEGO pits, top floor, are a good resting spot for weary parents). One criticism : the centre desperately needs improved signage on the boardwalk side (even better, a boardwalk entrance). We walked right past it and we were looking specifically for the DC. An hour (and one cranky kid) later, we found it on the long walk back, at which point some parents and miss might be too tired to find the rather hidden entrance.
The 3 star rating is for the discovery centre in its enirity...And that is highballing it. The admission price is way too much for what it is. WAY TOO MUCH! The dome theatre was awesome and if I was to rate it on its own I'd give it 5 stars. Well worth the extra $2 to see! We saw a solar system "movie". But the $10 for children and $12 for adults admission fee to the discovery centre itself is outrageous. Parents should get in free or for very little as there is literally nothing there for adults... Children 8 and under would love it I'm sure..especially if they like Lego as there was a lot of that!. It was disappointing that a lot of the cool things like the mirrors etc were not brought from the old center. The bubble room needs to be monitored as to limit time so that all Children can have a turn. I was in the area for a half hour and the same children had 3 of the 4 bubble wands the entire time. This is obviously the most popular room in the centre and so why didn't they make an extra large one when they layed out the new centre?? .. My bathroom is larger than the bubble room. The cats and dog special event that was going on while we were there was educational.
Was really fun for my daughter. The bathrooms are well maintained. A bathroom on every floor except the bottom floor.
Super fun! About an hr and a half worth of things to see. Not something you'd need to go back a second time to.
We had a lot of fun here. I’m very much into Rubix’s cubes lately, and I’m currently looking into buying a GoCube. The discovery centre had a rubix cube exhibits, which did not disappoint. I’ve added a few videos to the discovery centre’s page, which shows a few of the things that’s cool there. I highly recommend if you want to see some cool experiments, go here.
Awesome place for kids and parents too
Great place to take the kids. Of particular interest to my son was the Lego room and the bubble room. There was a great dinosaur exhibit the most recent time we went.
Great place to take kids.
The old one was better. The newer building is nice and that's about it. It was way too cramped with kids and no hand sanitizer in sight. You have to pay extra if you want to experience the planetarium and overall it smelt like stinky feet and BO on every floor haha. My kid is ten and he wasn't impressed at all. Won't be back that is for sure.
Great spot to bring the kids, with lots of exciting displays. We took part in helping to build the lego mural, and the kids really love the bubble room!
The building's architecture looks stunning outside and inside. The exhibition about video games was interesting. Staff was friendly and informative. However, this place is only interesting for young children. There isn't much to learn for teenagers and basically nothing for adults. Since young kids often come with older siblings or parents, the museum should offer at least a small exhibition for them as well.
Great spot for kids and adults! There's no parking on site but you can pay for parking in the surrounding lots and streets. There's a coat room and a small area for kids stuff (no locked storage though). Each floor has a set of washrooms with a cafe on the top floor. A bit pricy but you could easily spend 2 hours here with kids of all ages. Spacious, clean, and friendly staff. We'll be back!
Neat! Can't wait for the new space!
I love the new place an impressive improvement
Had a great time here as a family - some great places to explore and be part of the learning experience. The entrance had a great activity for exploring with ramps and foam balls. And then upstairs there are lots to explore in the kid's area. Also, the makerspace in the basement is another great place to explore for some of the older young people. We didn't get to attend any of the shows as it didn't fit our schedule but they look interesting and will have to return to experience that.
The employees are great! And very informative!
Brought my 4 year old here. I think I had just as much fun as she did. Maybe even more. I found it to be a nice mix of educational and fun.
Great space that opened in 2016. They're doing amazing displays with what they have. I'd say it's a must-visit if you're in Halifax. It's interesting that they're wanting to mix arts with science as part of their mandate. pricing is $12 adults, $10 kids, special $40 for a family.
New place new toys
Large new location, with some cool new stuff, but my son missed some of his favourite things from the old location.
It's pretty good. A little pricey for what it is. Also they have an inexplicable shutdown over lunch so take that into account during your trip planning.
Nice but i prefer the one of Regina Saskatchewan:-)
Very nice family spot
A scientific place for kids to explore and learn! There are different sections! Mostly they are educational and informative for kids. There is a small shop and cafe. Kids can join small workshops and other crafty activities. It is nice for family outings.
Routine updates, very interactive.
I grew up in Halifax and I would consider the Discovery Centre as my second home. I still remember when it was on Barrington street and when they moved, I was not fond of the idea at first; however, I soon realized that it was much needed for them to expand. I love this place, the people and the energy. I grew up there and now I volunteer there. Truly a remarkable experience for all, not only for children.
It cost $40 to go and all shows were sold out, every exhibit was packed and we didn't get the full experience. The whole building was very cramped and it seems like there was a lot less to do than the old discovery centre. Some of the exhibits weren't even functioning properly and on the third floor there was just a huge mess in the farm, theatre and grocery store area. People don't get their children to put things back where they belong. Just a big disappointment
Great
Great variety of interactive exhibits for the kids. (mostly geared towards younger kids < 10) The dome theater is a must visit. The kids loved the innovation lab.
Kids and I enjoyed our day here.
I miss the old Discovery Centre a lot but this one is still really nice
Very awesome play had the kids there. And the t-Rex display was amazing. The whole place was great and everyone loved it. But the place needs hand sanitizer dispensers everywhere just like a hospital. With all the hands on displays I can't believe they didn't think of this. Kinda pathetic really.
Really cool place. Definitely built for a younger audience. (<15). I find the new building is an upgrade in ways and a downgrade in others. Wmthe whole place seems very cramped and just packed full of very young children running around.
A good place to visit. Although they have limited time for guests (because of pandemic), a couple of hours should be enough to see everything. The Joy-lab has a number of decorated rooms / installations to take pictures.
Excellent. Two and a half hours and had to pry the kids away from the place.
Great place to bring your kids and let them explore the basic science facts on their own small experiments.
So much fun! Something for kids of all ages.
What a huge upgrade from the Barrington location - you have to see this place. The special exhibit Science of Rock was awesome and the new Dinosaur exhibit opening May 29 looks like it is going to be fantastic. Congrats to everyone at the new Discovery Centre for bringing something new and exciting to downtown Halifax.
Lots of hands-on science projects and experiments for kids to play with. Special exhibitions are well-curated to actively engage children in the interaction. Educational but also lots of fun for both young learners and parents. Staff are friendly and professionally trained. They know their stuff and what they are doing.
Love this place. We buy a family pass each year. It pays for itself by the third visit. The kids love it.
The Discovery Centre is wonderful for kids of all ages, just try not to visit during school trips, because there's no room to sit and have a drink, and it gets far to busy with so many school children running around
I found the staff were friendly and was very clean, the only problem I had were many parents who brought there children there chose not to follow any of the safety guidelines that were given from the staff.
Loved the discovery centre! The quantum physics exhibit was super cool and the light tunnel was trippy as balls. Highly recommend going here once every exhibit rotation :)
We visited the Discovery Centre for our first time with our kids. They LOVED it. So much to explore. We lost an hour by arriving late & quickly realized the 1.5hrs we had left could not do justice because of how much there is to explore especially for first timers. I wonder if it is just as fascinating for regulars, but the kids definitely came away having learned & gotten excited about science. This place is a must go for anyone with kids.
Very good place for young brains to try new stuff.
Excellent for all ages. Had a blast. Only issue... Signage for the centre faces the wrong way on a one way street! Drove past and had to loop around
Fun place and lots to do. If you have the time while in Halifax, a must place visit. Definitely recommended for tourists or those who want a fun outing!
Excellent! We went without kids and there was still stuff that was enjoyable for adults, would be an excellent place to take the family, or a class on a school trip.
Well spaced. Kids had a blast.
What an awesome new science centre for all ages but your personal experience depends on what time of year and day/time you go. If you go during March break expect mostly families with young kids and due to the recent opening it will be packed! I went with my friends (we are all seniors) in late February to hang out in the Innovation lab and then with my Grandchildren in March twice. It was certainly crowded but the majority of people were having fun. We also bought a membership only $125 to come as often as we want and get access to hundreds of other science centres all over the world. Even with the high volumes of people the facility is very clean and you can experience most of the exhibits with a bit of a wait. This will slow down over time with less lineups and waits. There is a lot to see and the exhibits and programs change all the time so you can come back every week to learn something new in science. The staff are great!
This place is awesome great place to take your kids , way better than the discovery center we had when I was kid ! I attended the wild things event tonight I was very pleased , we got to meet many animals and interact with them and the staff . Four floors of greatness and fun highly recommend for all ages !
Great for kids, lacking for anyone over 12.
Wonderful place for kids of all ages and the whole family. Educational and imaginative interactive displays in an amazing building full of light. (Tip -Take the piano stairs to the third floor, so cool) There is a small planetarium movie theater as well and a cafe.
Great learning experience for the family. Lots of hands on games for the kids.
Fun time , interesting exhibits for all age groups.
Love this museum. Great initiative to spark interest in science for kids. Lots of activities but it's better to bring a small snack with you.
Very interesting to see and a good time
Not so large, very comfortable and interesting museum for children of different ages.
Amazing! Wish we had found it earlier in the day! So interactive. Piano stairs! Highly recommend.
I love the new location of the Discovery Centre. I have been twice now and both visits were a delight! The new planetarium set up is especially great with a nice variety of shows and an immersive atmosphere. I did find some parts harder to navigate as an adult, it's definitely a place that prioritizes children visitors, but that's hardly a flaw at all. My only note would be to include a more centralized schedule for the different moderated activites across the centre
Great interactive and interesting learning experience for kids and teens. Different stations and friendly staff. The carriers different workshops for groups. The dome is a must see ????
So much to do and see! Great set up for covid, staff is amazing, keep up the great work!
Very fun as an adult. One flight simulator, the indicators didn't work, and the arrows to get around were a bit confusing at times. However, I'm already planning to go back soon to enjoy it again.
Bright , clean and lots of potential . It just didn't have very much to offer.
Was there last year. Great for the kids. The upstairs exhibition should be updated/better maintained. It was starting look old.
Kids didnt even want to stay after taking a walk through and trying some activities..kids would have just as much fun at a fast food restaurant play center...center is outdated and dirty looking and we were there when it opened....
Way cool
Lots of cool things to do an see. Time flies when there
A little pricey but a fun excursion
Severe lack of content. The old location had a lot more things to do and see. We were through the current exhibits in an hour...not a good investment of $42.
What a wonderful place. learning hands on about how things work.
A great place to bring the kids! lots of amused faces today
the trick is quickly done, especially with a 15 year old teenager. Nothing interesting for a teenager, yet I asked the reception if it was for young children, I was told no. But that's not true, so I paid $ 48 for 1 hour. it is good for young children.
Comparing to the old discovery centre, this building is alot bigger, beautiful inside and there are more activies to do.
I'm sure it's great for kids but I wouldn't recommend going on your own. I left after 15 mins of feeling awkward.
My family and I love the Discovery Center, theres a little something for everyone.
Great fun for the family. We thought 1.5 hours would be enough but truthfully, I could have spent more than half a day there. The hands on nature of the exhibits and galleries really make this place. We started in the current games exhibit, Game Changers, which brought back a lot of childhood nostalgia. The exhibit explores the world of video games. We then moved on to the Innovation Lab. The two young men working at the time took the time to explainthe various machines and tools in the lab. They were very gracious with their time and seemed very enthusiastic about their work. I could really go on and on about the fun stations and experiments in the centre (bubbles!, airplanes/lift, ecosystems) but suffice it to say that it is obvious the centre took the time to create a fun and immersive learning experience for kids and middle aged kids like me.
A five star experience with lots for the kids to see and do. This was the children’s second visit. They did it two years ago and were so excited to go back. We had a 3 hour afternoon booking and barely had enough time to see and do most exhibits. We could have easily spent another hour there. No parking on site, but it is available across the road on the weekends. If you are looking for a memorable, engaging, and enjoyably educational experience, this is it!
Not a place to go if your kids are older than 10 years old or very clever. The planetarium presenter could benefit from elecution/presentation training; she was very difficult to hear and understand; she kept taking deep breathes mid sentence. Her use of the laser light was difficult to follow. My nephew was bored after 1 hour.
My 1st visit and took my 3 yr old grandson. It was an amazing experience as he was totally energized for 2.5 hours. Very interactive ....so much so that he didn't want to stop for lunch. the perfect spot on a rainy day or any day. we had to park at the farmers market as parking is an issue.
(Translated) I loved!!! A must see if you have children 8 and under. For adults, correct visit, bilingual posters but unilingual English-speaking staff. Start from the bottom up, or from the top down - otherwise you won't be able to see everything. I spent more than 4 hours there with my 3 1/2 year old boy and it was difficult for me to get him out ..! Lots of activities for children, on all floors. Beautiful explanations on science, very well pictorial, children play while adults visit and this, at all levels. To visit absolutely!
Very cool place for both kids and adults. The bubble room is awesome! Definitely recommend this place if you have the chance.
It was fun for the children. However, I think a lot more needs to be done to cater for the fun of adults too.
2 and 5 yo loved it there's go to first 2 floors first cause they won't want to leave the top floor. Gets busy sometimes with school tours. Well worth a visit for a few hours with kids.
BRING EARPLUGS IT'S VERY VERY LOUD
Cant wait to bring my child here all the time, as he grows up, what an amazing experience
It was disappointing compared to our last visit. The washroom didn’t have toilet paper, a number of interactive exhibits did not work. Some areas were a mess ie. medical office play area with items in the floor or missing. Couldn’t try the flight simulators as many children in line and no adults supervising to ensure children allowed others had a turn. We finally gave up and left as our kids we’re frustrated and so were we!
So much fun, very interesting, lots to explore!!
Will never take my kids there again. Prices are ridiculous and nothing for your kids to do except sit on their buts and watch videos about different animals. My kids can do that at home. As for the cafe.....its a joke. Had to take my kids somewhere else to eat and didnt go back.
Amazing. Needs a cafe, though. (Later edit - they have one now!)
(Translated) Not much to do, too expensive for the facility. (Original) 할것이별로 많지는 않습니다.시설에 비해 너무비싼 가격.
(Translated) “Three floors to play and explore” On three floors there are interesting exhibits and toys to inspire and entertain the children. The children can explore and experience the exhibits with their hands. On the second floor, for example, there is a huge Lego collection with which the children can let off steam for hours. We also particularly liked the bubble room, where you can go into a human-sized bubble. There is a changing exhibition on the ground floor. The main topic during our visit was the water and its cycle. The children are taught how to deal with nature and the resource of water. Every half hour there is an activity, which is led by the staff of the center and where the children are actively involved. The magic show, where all sorts of cool tricks with liquid nitrogen are shown, is particularly recommended. There are all kinds of technical and scientific gadgets to buy in the shop.
Very fun place to go with the kids. They mostly loved the bubble room and the live show. A lot of the stuff was interesting to me but the kids didn't care.
Worth the visit. Give yourself at least 3-4hrs
waste of money, half the displays didn't work, too many steps, the old one was way better. What a waste of a new building.zero stars from me
