I went here for a cut a dye because it was easy to book an appointment for a few days later. When I presented a picture of what I wanted, I was told it wasn’t achievable. This should have been my first red flag to leave. The teachers hardly came around to check the students progress. After being there for 6.5 hours I left with a terrible dye and cut job. It cost me $113 after they redid the dye job 3 times. I will never step foot in this establishment again, unless they want to refund me. I have never been so upset about my hair.

My granddaughter is training to become a hairstylist out west, so I thought I’d try the hair college in town to support the trade. While the students were very nice, they seemed to be more help to each other than an instructor, as I didn’t see one around. I ask them how they were enjoying the course and what their plans were afterwards. It seems to me these students have been left to their own devices with not much more than a text book. Made me feel a little wary of being a client (but it turned out fine). Eventually a dark haired lady was standing by the entrance on her phone and I was advised that that was their instructor. I couldn’t believe it. Perhaps I’m just too old school, but how rude and unprofessional for an instructor. I wouldn’t even say she was an observer. I spoke to my granddaughter afterwards and asked her about her instruction, sounds quite different. I really felt for all the students paying for an education and seemingly being let down, and that’s what pushed me to write this review.

I went to Modern when I was 19 and still going strong. My teachers were some of the greatest I could have asked for... I learnt a lot in the 10 months I was there and later returned to receive my certificate for nail technician.. Not sure if it's the Larouche family who still owns it but they were all great teachers.. Thank you for providing me with the confidence I needed to exceed in my profession

Always a very good experience at modern! I appreciate how much everyone does for their clients, everyone always goes above and beyond. Absolutely love everyone there, so kind and outgoing. Always a pleasure to go back ????

ESTHETICIANS ARE RUSHED PLACE IS DIRTY pedicure NEVER AGAIN The girls are rushed no break between clients, uniforms are sloppy the girl I had had poor hygiene and rotten teeth, this school should be teaching them better work practices The work station was dirty, tools were not in a sanitary bag, the esthetician in training was not presentable, tools were a mess could not find them, lack of time lack of organization, a piece of paper towel on their work station I do not think it is sanitary 3 worn towels to use for a pedicure......how will they ever get jobs at a great spa learning this, they should focus on personal presentation hot day no a/c NASTY EXPERIENCE

Took my son in for his first haircut everyone was very friendly and respectful. Hair cut and service was professional. My four-year-old loved the experience and we'll definitely be returning.
