We have had 3 private lessons, so far and planning to attend group lessons! My girl is a 2 year old, border collie x pitbull, & she’s very hyper! The second Derek walked into our yard Karma was in love!! Our lives have changed drastically since! We’ve gotten compliments on how well behaved Karma is from our friends and family. We are forever grateful! Derek is very knowledgeable, helpful, and loves his dogs! I highly recommend asking for his help! Training is definitely for the people! ????

I highly recommend NDLB. We have been taking classes and have had our puppy, Charlie, enrolled in the puppy daycare. The progress we have seen in him is amazing. We have a dog that listens to us (most of the time) after all, his is a puppy. He settles much quicker and he does a bunch of cool tricks. He is fun to play with We have learned so much during the classes and through the videos. Training Charlie has been very rewarding and a positive experience for all of the family members and Charlie.

Without a doubt, Derek is one incredible trainer. Not to mention an even better version of the dog whisperer (no dominance theory here). We have been working with Derek from puppy through adolescence to Canine Good Neighbour classes. One set of 6 weeks is amazing but you will want to carry on. There is so much to learn to help your dog become an amazing life companion, and Derek is one fabulous teacher. He is calm, confident and teaches in an easily understood way using positive reinforcement methods. No old school adversive techniques here. His puppy classes often include one of his trained older dogs to help teach good dog manners to pups during puppy play time at the end of your puppy class. We are working towards our Canine Good Neighbour certification and training to be a volunteer therapy dog for long term care facilities. Derek can help you achieve whatever goals you have for your dog, whether it be basic obedience to behavioural issues to therapy or service dog training. He can even help you get started to training your very own service dog. To say five stars is really not enough.

Buster has been a part of my little family since November 1. Since then, we have taken two dog classes through No Dog Left Behind. We started with the puppy class and now just completed the adolescent dog class this past Saturday. Buster will be 6 months old on March 1st and I am so thankful I chose to drive from Regina to Moose Jaw each week for these classes. Buster loved every minute of her learning with Jessikah and the rest of the dogs/families in the classes. If anyone is thinking of taking classes with this business, PLEASE DO!! As a first time dog owner I cannot say enough positive things about these classes. The business is also very accommodating if you cannot make a class - and each week you receive videos of homework from what you learned during that class. P.S. The drive from Regina to Moose Jaw also has made my dog go from throwing up and being scared of getting into the vehicle, to me saying "get in" and she listens and will lie down and have naps! Since I was so happy with this class I picked up his book in preparation for our new puppy. I read it in one day and got the refresher I needed. We did the puppy Einstein class, adolescences dog class and are thinking about trying a nose class eventually. Derek was awesome about coming to our house when we needed to work on things with our dog Sirius. His class was very engaging for him and he showed us how to make things more difficult for him when he did certain things easily. Even still he makes appointments promptly for us to socialize our dog with his and work on manners with his dogs since we are struggling to make play dates for his socializing. He is an awesome trainer and very good with the reward good behaviour and what you want your dog to do before it starts finding bad things to do for attention methods. He knows his stuff for sure and as soon as he comes over it is like our dog is another dog and behaves beyond well for him. Sirius was always excited when he saw the building and loved the classes and play time with the other dogs at the end of the classes. I’d recommend him to anyone.

We are so thankful we enrolled our puppy in Derek's Puppy Einstein Program! As first time dog owners we were overwhelmed with how to manage this new, bouncy addition to our home. Derek's home visits, text/phone support and the puppy classes included in the program helped us out so much! He does well with communicating and providing examples of class instructions and providing homework to maintain progress in class. Huge thanks to Derek! I am a first time pet owner and I brought home an 11 week old Boston Terrier puppy four weeks ago. While she is amazingly sweet it became obvious early on that there were going to be issues with separation, as she would get incredibly agitated even the most brief separation situations. I booked a session with Derek and he came to my home to meet us and give some strategies to start gradually building up to separation in a situation that gave to dog the tools to succeed. In the days and weeks that followed there were good days and bad days, but Derek was steadfast and confident in his message, reassuring me that it is not a linear process, but things were trending in the right way and we needed to stick with it. We have now reached a point where my puppy is doing 2 30 minute ‘alone time’ training sessions a day in her puppy room and we are having very little difficulty with separation. I am very confident we will be able to extend these times and she will be OK when I eventually go back to work. In addition, during my home visit Derek gave me some very helpful hints about low-level obedience training, housetraining, and socialization. At no point did it feel rushed and I felt welcome to ask any questions I had. Derek offered some very useful tips for each of those situations and, while we still have much work to do it seems we are trending in the right direction. I very highly recommend No Dog Left Behind because of Derek’s aptitude for training and behaviour, but more because of his patience and his confidence in his method. He was very kind at our appointment, he has been very approachable with follow up questions and he seems to be genuinely invested in my ability to build a strong relationship with my puppy.

I honestly don’t know how to put into words the appreciation I have for Derek and his training. We first started with Derek last year with a very stubborn, confident pup. Derek not only helped us to get Osiris to learn the fundamentals of being a good puppy but he has continued to help us train Osiris for his role as a service dog for our son. When we were just getting Osiris into a well behaved puppy and started talking about the next phase of moving into service training, we found another pup that “just needed” to be ours ????. My first concern was how is this going to work without messing up the training we had already done with Osiris?? Yes, Derek did think I might be a bit insane, 2 puppies in 1 year ???? what were we thinking, but he never made us feel like we were crazy. He adjusted some of our training plans to incorporate the new addition, added in strategies for better feeding routines (Synari is a big foodie that would kick Osiris out if his dish), and crate training 2.0. We are now at a point where we are looking into booking the Canine Good Neighbor test with Osiris, and Synari is doing her round of adolescent puppy classes. The continued support and the community that Derek has for dog owners makes raising dogs with manners so easy and stress free. Excellent experience at NDLB Puppy Daycare with our Stanley! After only the second visit we noticed a huge improvement in his behaviour, specifically his walking on a leash skills. He is doing his second round now and his attention span during home training is much longer than when he started. The videos are also helping with home training. I adopted an Australian Shepard 8 months ago now. Buddy was afraid of everything including getting into a vehicle. I called Derek for for help as I didn’t know what to do to help Buddy come over his fears. Derek sat down with me explaining on what to do and made a plan. While he was talking he gave Buddy some treats to earn his trust and it didn’t take long. Then, we practiced with Buddy outside and slowly got closer to the vehicle with encouragement and treats. Derek was patient and showed me how to do this on my own. I practiced with Buddy everyday and slowly Buddy was getting used to the vehicle. Derek followed up with me to see how Buddy was doing 2 weeks later and things were going well. A few months later, I called Derek about obedience classes and he suggested agility classes that his center was offering. I signed Buddy up for 2 months and he loved it and has become very confident in himself. I have had another issue arise where Buddy would herd other dogs. I called Derek and we had a private training session. Derek showed me how to body block with Buddy so that he would stop herding the other dog and make him sit for about 30 seconds. Within an hour of our training session Buddy has caught onto the idea that herding is not allowed. I will not hesitate to call Derek with any issues or concerns that may arise as Derek is a very knowledgeable dog trainer. Thank you Derek! I have a great confident friend.

I have a dog with some issues that is much harder to teach and Derek helped me to adapt and overcome those issues as a dog owner. He is always up to date with his methods, so kind and friendly towards animals and makes learning fun for the dogs! I am now currently enrolled in Nose Work offered by Melanie and she is amazing! She has such a positive energy that all the dogs pick up on and makes class an absolute blast. I have been following Derek’s training methods for a long time. I had him come to my house a few years ago to teach me how to stop my dogs barking at the neighbour’s dogs. I really like Derek’s methods. They don’t involve any corrections but the dog learns because it teaches the dog what you want without having to use a correction. If your dog has special problems he is willing to give private lessons. This is something that most training classes won’t do. He also has group classes for many different ages and sizes of dogs. I would definitely recommend No Dog Left Behind.

I saw Derek twice with my dog. The first time I wanted mainly learn how to train her to run free and always come back. The second time I wanted to learn how to stop her from running after deer, cats, birds etc. Both lessons with Derek were lots of fun. He understands the dog’s behaviour and has a good way to explain what can be done about it. Derek always treated me and my dog with respect. He never gave me the feeling I did something wrong when something didn’t turn out the way I expected. Derek is patient what I appreciate very much and certainly loves what he does for and with dogs. Our involvement with Derek began a few months after we brought our little man “Hoover” home from the breeder in 2018. Once his puppy immunizations were up to date, we wanted his training and socialization to begin. We had heard so many good things about Derek’s methods that we decided to register Hoover in one of Derek’s puppy classes. Our family was dealing with some significant health issues at that time, and as a result, we found it near impossible to commit to regularly scheduled classes. Derek was very kind and understood our family’s challenge and so we opted to hire Derek to come into our home to train my husband and me to provide Hoover with the training we felt was important to us. We’ve never looked back. Derek met with us and put together a program designed to meet our specific goals and thus began his regular visits to our home. Derek is simply the best. We approached Derek in a panic a couple of months ago after our frenchie bit a friend's child. Derek was quick to respond, totally non-judgmental, and he was very proactive. He took the time to understand our concerns, ourselves, and our dog. He suggested the Bite to Polite program and we jumped in. Having Derek come into our home for the six sessions was so wonderful. Our frenchie is quite territorial at home, so in-home sessions were exactly what we needed. Opportunities for puppy play time helped our pup to adjust to other dogs and people from an early age.
