I don't understand all the people who are bashing Brett, you all need to calm down and learn to lighten up a bit. Brett is such an amazing teacher. He will not sugar coat anything, which when learning how to drive is a good thing. If I am doing poorly, I want to know so that I do not put other people's lives or my own for that matter, at risk. Brett has been a driving instructor for many many years, and anyone who decides to not trust his judgement is ludicrous. You are paying HIM to teach YOU how to drive, so how dare some people think that they know better than him. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND BRETT TO EVERYONE!

A huge thank you for your help. I had a test booked in Abbotsford as it was only date available Brett said if I cancelled it he'd get a Langley date as I live in Langley and he got it at claim centre same date as other test he waited up to book at midnight just as he said I think that's going an extra mile to help. I'm very greatful and passed first time. A BIG THANKYOU????

Brett’s lessons really helped me gain confidence on the road, which I was in need of. I was so nervous with my driving skill but with his instructing I felt myself become more comfortable with the roads, even after the first lesson. Passed my N test on the first try thanks to him! Really recommend this driving school! Thank you:)

Lauren Alliston

I started out scared of driving, from the first lesson we were on the road working on safe driving. Would recommend to everyone.

Thank you very much for helping me pass first time. Brett was so good, parking was made easier, when I took the test i felt like had been around most of the streets already because of his knowledge of routes. Highly recommended and so affordable compared to others, his package took me from learning the basics thru to road test , car was included and test booked , awesome thank you so much

So happy with Brett!!! I took lessons for months leading up to my road test and he is not only an excellent instructor but very patient + makes you feel totally comfortable!! Plus the packages are totally affordable! Wouldn't have passed my test without him :)

I passed my N road test first time. Brett is an experienced teacher, very thorough and knowledgeable. His knowledge of the road test area, ICBC rules/regulations and protocols is very helpful. I found this very valuable. I would recommend him to other students as he instructed me on areas to improve and helped with areas that needed correction. Thank you Brett for help!

Edit in response to Brett's response: My frustration was with Brett's teaching and lack of professional conduct. The tester himself said that Luis's driving was otherwise perfect but he was obviously too upset and needed to calm down. The tester was actually nicer to my husband than Brett ever was. Luis was upset because of your behavior in the parking lot of the test (grabbing the wheel and yelling at him). If you think that is a good way to make sure your student is prepared for the test you are sorely mistaken. Prior to Luis taking his test I worried not of his driving skills but of how upset he would be after dealing with you and how this would affect his concentration while driving. This review would have happened regardless of the result of his test. You did indeed badmouth other schools right to my face and trying to claim otherwise is a lie. You also made no mention of what I needed to work on with Luis despite that being the main reason for me coming out there to talk to you. You focused on other schools and how they spend time on parallel parking because it costs them less money. I had come across many things that Luis had never been taught how to do at all and when you asked for an example I gave you parallel parking. I never expected you to spend hours on it, I only expected that he should have been shown how to at some point. The same goes for where is blind spots were and how to shoulder check properly and a few other things I had noticed. You focused only on my example like I thought it was the only important thing about driving. I have taught other people how to drive but as I have 20 years of driving experience, I also know that I have bad habits and am not 100% up on any rule changes. This is why I hired you!! You were supposed to teach him these things instead of just telling him to do things and then getting upset at him when he didn't do them correctly. I wanted him to learn from a professional and then practice with me, but instead I taught him most of the lessons on how to drive and he practiced and got bitched at by you. I hadn't started teaching him how to do things until after his last lesson because up until that point I had expected that you were doing it! But you really didn't like that I criticized your teaching methods and rather than acting like a professional and discussing it calmly you got upset and started comparing yourself to other driving schools. My goal was to be on the same page as to what he needed to learn, yours was to defend yourself at all costs and attack Luis and other schools. You obviously need a lesson in interpersonal skills. You also never mentioned anything about extra lessons or we may have actually taken you up on that because we had to postpone the test originally. But rather than making that suggestion you scheduled the last lesson for a few days before the test. I truly feel like your goal was to make sure Luis failed to teach us a lesson for questioning you or something. I drove with my husband many times before the test and although I am not by any means claiming that he is a perfect driver, I will say that I am an overly paranoid passenger. I actually get scared with other experienced people driving. He, however, has given me less cause to worry while driving than many of the other people I have been driving with. I can guarantee I have been driving with him more than you and never once have I taken the wheel from him and he never hit anything. Your racial comments happened throughout the entire duration of driving with my husband. He mentioned comments you made several times after coming back from driving with you. My husband also thanked you after the test because he does not like confrontations and he never said anything about someone else pointing out his bad habits. However, you also told him that in order to take the test that he had to take it with a vehicle that has a brake pedal on the passenger side, which is a blatant lie. As if there would be any way he would get into the car with you again.

Brett is excellent ! He is very patient and taught my sons the “right” way to drive They both passed their first try thanks to Brett. He was Very flexible with scheduling drive times and reasonably priced. Thanks Brett

My son hates driving because of him. He supposedly screams and criticizes you for the whole car ride. I wasted my money, don't do the same. Driving should not be taught this way, all he did was yell.

Edit in response to Brett's response: Mr. Hill, if you have issues with the idea that I drove in the States you are more than welcome to reach out to my father on your own time to confirm things for yourself, he is not the kind of person who would lie for me by the way. My mother certainly knew that I practiced driving regularly with my father, but she was not always aware of where we would drive, so it’s hardly surprising if she doesn’t recall. If you are so distrustful of me, then perhaps I made the right call to discontinue your services. Furthermore, your version of events is hardly the whole story. First, my mother was the one who reached out to you initially because she wanted to discuss the driving test with you, it had nothing to do with your issues with me until you brought it up. Second, I already explained to you, in our own texts, that I only texted you at 2:30am because I was working late one night, and I considered the matter urgent enough to do so. This only happened ONCE, and I apologized to you when you expressed disapproval at it. Third, I only acted “rude and condescending” after you kept yelling at me throughout multiple lessons making me extremely nervous and irritated. I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this, but if you act impolitely towards someone you shouldn’t be surprised when they return the favor. Fourth, I find it very confusing that you would suggest a Chinese speaking instructor even though I was born in Canada and that I have only ever been fluent in English. Hi Izabella If your experiences with Brett were truly good as you say, then I can only congratulate you on that. But if you thoroughly read the negative reviews that go into detail about their issues with him, not just on google but on other sites as well, I wouldn't be surprised if you found it even a bit harder to be sympathetic for him. I may not be a driving instructor, but I have worked in customer service for a healthy amount of years, and he has behaved in ways that I have seen people get fired for.

Excellent. Daughter passed first time. Very knowledgeable, patient & professional. Brett got my daughter driving first lesson on the road and not spending hours in a parking lot like others. Affordable and well worth it. Thank you for everything. James

Just never stops yelling at you and just makes you never want to drive again

I can say that Brett was patient, kind, empathetic, and a fantastic instructor. I went into the driving lessons a totally different person then I am now. I have gained confidence in my driving skills, and now the ability to call myself a licenced driver. The cost is lower then most places, and the service was better. I call that true class. Thanks for the Independence.

Brett's a great instructor I would recommend him to anyone. Gives good instruction and gives helpful advise if you make a mistake.

Brett is an excellent driving instructor, I found his enthusiasm to be contagious. He was always very helpful and was very mindful of the comments he made. His teaching skills are well above my expectations (usually set higher than achievable), and his knowledge of driving and the laws and rules are exceptional. With only 7 lessons I passed my divers licence road exam on the first attempt. I would recommend Brett without any reservations to anyone that is learning how to drive. Tanya

I had one lesson with Brett and honestly I would not recommend for a number of reasons first his car was very messy and smelled bad. Second, he was constantly putting his foot on the break and grabbing the wheel so I couldn’t get a feel for how his car worked. Third, his teaching style is very demeaning and rude maybe he was in a bad mood that day but I didn’t appreciate it. He seemed very knowledgeable so maybe his teaching style just wasn’t for me. Side note I’ve done a lot of research and his prices are unmatched I couldn’t find a better deal which is why I’m dissapointed that it didn’t work out. :(

EphemeralStar

I was able to pass my N test the first time with Brett's honest critique throughout our lessons. He offered a rigorous enforcement of consistent safe driving and has helped mold my skills as a safe driver. :) He's also a great guy to talk to! Thanks iWay Driving School!

Andrew Parker

Spent more time commenting on other drivers, rather than focusing on a driving lesson.

I passed from an "L" to my "N", and all because of Brett at iWay Driving School. Brett, thank you for your patience, and working with me on my work schedule to fit driving lessons in. Very good teacher, very good lesson packages and pricing as well. Highly recommend you contact Brett for all your driving lesson needs. Call you when it's time to go for passing from my "N" to a regular driver. Thanks again for all your great advise. Hi I recently passed my class 5 test with Brett's fantastic lessons. I am so happy that I found his services and I would totally suggest him to anyone who wants to learn how to drive. Excellent teacher. Excellent prices. Fantastic car. Thanks so much for getting me on the road and driving Brett.

Ethan Kim

Yells at you for the smallest mistakes. Makes driving a terrible experience. I started lessons with him wanting to learn to drive, left with a fear of driving and feelings of not want to ever drive again

Avi Carlson
