I took lessons from Neil in preparation for my class 4 licence and it made all the difference. I passed first time and wasn't stressed for the test at all. Neil had already shown and let me practice how to do a great pre trip inspection on the same van I used in the test. We had also driven around the same roads i was tested on. It was the best possible way to prepare for a licence. Elenor was also very helpful at organizing the lesson times and letting practice the pre trip inspection on the van on my own too.

This is by far the worst driving school in Vancouver. The instructors are absolute garbage and I can't believe they would say they have certification. I learned way more by reading the book itself and watching youTube videos on basic driving. Why would anyone pay money for such terrible service? Their manager Paul is a greaseball with no class. How this place is still in business is beyond me. Go to YoungDrivers or a private lesson, steer clear of this place.

Just called to ask about the driving lessons they offer and the receptionist (or whoever answered the phone) was extremely rude. She interrupted pretty much all my questions, got annoyed that she didn't understand my question (which was obvious since she didn't hear half of them) and had a very condescending manner of talking which I did not appreciate at all. Don't know about how good your driving lessons are, but the receptionist definitely needs to change her attitude.

As a veteran driver of 20+ incident free years across 6 countries in Latin America, Europe and Africa you can imagine my shock when I failed my BC test at the first attempt. After getting over the disappointment I took 3 lessons at North Shore Driving school and passed with flying colours. The instruction was great focussing in on the watch-outs of the test as well as the weak areas of my driving. I recommend to anyone who is new to BC to take a few lessons to build up your knowledge and confidence in driving here because it is different. Even if you don't have to sit a test it is worth doing. My daughter's road test was coming up and I'm pretty sure I didn't teach her everything she needed to know so I signed her up with NSDS for a few refresher sessions as well as a session right before her road test. I can't say enough about SHANE her instructor! Very professional and takes driving very seriously...he truly wants you to succeed! He managed to guide and correct my daughters' issues and she passed with a really good score card! I'd also like to send kudos to Elana in the office who helped with the best arrangement with scheduling. Her follow up and encouragement was really appreciated! I would definately recommend! Had a great experience with North Shore Driving School...they prepared me for my upgrade from a restricted class 4 to an unrestricted class 4. I may have been able to pass the test without having gone through them...but, by using them, they made getting a "Pass" on the first go a sure thing. Well worth the money!!!

After having a bad experience with my first "N" test I avoided driving for 4 years! This spring I finally decided to commit to taking the test again, but this time I booked multiple lessons with this school and was able to experience different instructors throughout my program with them. I booked lessons in January, had lessons in February and March, and on April 9th I received my "N"! Talk about results! But not only did I receive my license, the lessons also gave me the skills to feel more confident on the road and behind the wheel. Thanks NSDS!

If I can only rate zero star then I would’ve do that! Instructors are so aggressive on the road and clearly has temper issues! What a shame carrying your brand name! This truck instructor with a student almost hit us luckily I saw it coming and had to get out of the way quickly (after long honksssss before their truck stopped!). The instructor came out of the truck and urges us to come out of our vehicle too which we didn’t because clearly he seemed like someone who has anger issues! DO NOT ENROL HERE, dind somewhere else where you can learn SAFE DRIVING! Look at their Facebook page, all they posted was shaming other drivers on the road about being “stupid” what kind of attitude is that?! Obviously has low value and low quality management!

I had my driver's license from another country and went for my Class 5 license here. However, it was a very bad experience and as expected I failed. I knew I had to completely change my driving techniques and adapt to the ones in BC & trust me it was so so difficult. I took 5 lessons with both Neil & Faye at NSDS and I can vouch that they are the best instructors any student driver can ask for. I learnt so much from both that I not only passed my Class 5 Road Test but I know they have trained me to be a skilled and safe driver for a life time. Neil's encouraging support and Faye's constant pushing has made me achieve my Class 5 and now I don't have to rely on anyone for going to places. I would also like to thank Elena (the star of the NSDS office). I couldn't have got my road test dates so fast without her support. I bugged her almost everyday for early dates and she successfully managed to get a date which suited me perfectly. This was an amazing experience! Sunny, Elena, and Neil were all wonderful in helping make sure that I succeeded. Making sure that I had the lessons I needed and at times that suited my crazy schedule. If I had to change a day or time, Elena was always helpful finding a good fit for the next lesson so that I had practice during both busy and less traffic filled days. Sunny is experienced, dedicated, and very helpful in ensuring that good long term habits for driving are developed. My own worst enemy was myself, but this school made sure that when I went for my driving test I had every chance of succeeding.

Just got my class 5 DL, thanks to Shane and his colleagues! Before coming to NSDS, I went to another driving school around here but failed the exam eventually. Then I came to NSDS, and the front desk lady helped me book some sessions before my next exam, which was going to be in 2 weeks only. I managed to take 3 sessions with Shane Andrew, and he is a super perfect instructor. Soon he assessed my weaknesses and planned to make them up. You may find him a little bit strict, but you will thank him soon while you see your fast improvement. On test day, I had a warm-up session with him right before the exam, and I passed the exam in 20 minutes! NSDS trains you to drive safely and confidently. That's what any driver needs to learn. Thank you, Shane! Thanks to everybody at North Shore Driving School for the their commitment to quality and safety.

Great instructor that I had. Walked me through the pre trip on the first, second, and third lesson for class 4. Killed it on the exam day with a 10 min pre trip followed by a quick drive for the road test. Would recommend this school but the instructor who teaches it makes a difference.

Then, they told me that the other dates I had booked were unavailable and that I had written the information down wrong. Very disappointed in the poor service.

Eleanor in the office has been wonderful at helping to schedule (and reschedule lessons), and ensured that my kids had the right match in terms of the driving instructors. The instructors are well trained and they take their jobs seriously in teaching proper driving techniques. I would recommend this driving school.

I had one of my children attend this school and was not impressed. The staff was less than accommodating and taught the bare minimum. For my next child I sent them to the Mercedes driving school at the same cost and it was excellent. They taught my younger daughter so many things that North Shore driving school did not. They took her to so many different recommendations and never refused to meet her at our home as was the case with North Shore Driving School.The difference between the two schools was huge. I would definitely recommend you check out the Mercedes Driving School!!

I passed my N test the first time with this driving school, with only 5 lessons, and very limited time to practice. I had both Faye and Eric as instructors. They were both excellent teachers and very professional, but I would recommend sticking to only one teacher to avoid confusion from advice and critical input given from different people. Very professional school, and I even received a little good luck phone call from the office the morning of my test! I am looking forward to recommend these guys to everyone I know, and anyone who's written a bad review is clearly not ready to drive. Love you guys! :)

I signed up at NSDS in 2014. I put the investment into several in-class sessions, with plenty of lessons on the road as well. Working with both the administrative officer and several of the instructors, as well as well with regular practice, I was able to progress with my N and then finally, 3 years later, my full class 5. The level of understanding, honest feedback, and the incredible wealth of knowledge the team at NSDS is some of the best instruction I've received in any institution I've attended over the years. As an anxious person by default, they did a great job in helping me stay in the moment and maintain defensive driving practices. I would absolutely recommend this driving school to anyone and everyone. I came in as a grown adult, and have witnessed how they're able to cater and relate with clients from all ages and demographics. Worth every penny!

I took lessons in there truck division to obtain my class 3 commercial vehicle license and also took there air brake endorsement course. All of the instructors are excellent, they all have many years of experience and offer professional and encouraging advice. My primary instructor was Sebastian for 4 lessons, he was as chill as I would hope someone in that stressful of a situation would be, extremely knowledgeable, and funny to boot. Such a wonderful experience via the NS Driving School! I was gifted two brush-up lessons with David prior to my second attempt at a class 7 road test. David's teaching style is very helpful, thorough, and patient. He reviewed clear, actionable steps that I could practice both during and after lessons, and I really feel like I have the science of parking down. Happy to say I passed my road test, and nailed both the parallel park and reverse park. I felt very supported as David cheered when I gave him the thumbs up after passing. I'm sure that these two lessons made a huge difference in both my confidence and my skill in parking. Highly recommend NS Driving School for anyone looking to improve their driving or brush up before an exam. I may return one day, when it's time to brush up for my class 5.

I had a wonderful experience with North Shore Driving School. Our 22 year old son needed his licence for a summer job. He had one month to get it. North Shore Driving School made it work with lessons available every day of the week at a wide variety of times. We signed him up for 8 private one-hour lessons. They had a systematic approach to driving, and with each lesson he learned a new driving skill or technique, with ample time during his one-hour lesson to practice with the instructor. My son had nothing but praise for the common sense and patient approach taken by the instructor. He was taken to many of the areas that he was required to drive to during his road test and so felt very well prepared for the test. The instructor gave him lots of simple techniques to use for things like measuring the proper distance between him and the car in front when at intersections, calculating speed when driving on the highway, and (my personal favourite) a really simple method for parallel parking. The school followed up with me after his last lesson and before his test, to see whether we thought he needed any more time. They didn't try to sell me more lessons and told me that they thought he was ready to do the test and didn't need any additional help. I was initially put off by the only other review on this site, but am really glad that I signed our son up with the North Shore Driving School. I can't say enough good things about them. And of course the best news of all is that he passed on the first try. So thanks to North Shore Driving School!

I had a horrid experience at NSDS. My instructor was not informative at all. He was constantly making mistakes and playing the wrong videos, not telling what page we were on or explaining clearly the material he was teaching (if you want to call it teaching). As a result, I didn't complete my air breaks theory course. I asked for my money to be refunded because I was very unsatisfied with their lack of professionalism and awful teaching skills. They responded to my request with "thats not how this works." If you actually want to learn how to drive a vehicle safely I would go elsewhere.

The instructor was helpful and friendly however the front desk receptionist/owner was very rude and condescending. She also called me one day and kept me on hold for 5 minutes until she remembered why she called me. During one of my lessons I saw one of the other instructors back his car into one of the other vehicles belonging to the school, then walk off. To make matters worse, I required a copy of my receipt. I had to call 3 times in order to get Elena (the rude receiptionist) to send it to me. The first two times she kept changing the subject, asking if I had left a review yet. The second time she said, "leave a review and I'll try to get that to you." The third time I refused to hang up until she emailed it to me. Very unprofessional and manipulative.

I did the Class 4 (unrestricted) driver training here and I am so glad I did because I am certain I would not have passed without them! The training isn't cheap, but the cost is on par with other schools in the area and the instructors know all the tips and tricks to pass the pre-trip inspection with flying colours -- (if you are anything like me and don't know a lot about vehicle mechanics, you will definitely want to take this training before you attempt the test!) They also book the road test for you and let you to use their vehicle for the exam, which is perfect if you don't have access to your own 15+ passenger van. The package of three sessions (including the exam) is the perfect amount of time to learn and practice the pre-trip inspection and get comfortable driving and backing a larger vehicle to prepare for the test. Their van is super easy to drive and the instructors gave me so much confidence I was hardly nervous during the road test! I felt prepared and ready, so the exam was a breeze. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking to get their Class 4 License!

His no-nonsense, very informative approach was excellent, yet he still remained very personable. I have examined and certified teachers and coaches in the ski industry for almost 3 decades and have the experience to assess a great learning program, and this is one. The service I received over the phone was very,very informative and helpful. This included reminder calls for my test and necessary documents and congratulatory follow up call. As well the vehicles were very well and professionally prepared. I couldn't have asked for more. Having said all this, you are going to get out of this what you put in. With the willingness to learn and some studious work, all the training and information prepared me to ace my class 4 exams. I highly recommend this driving institution. Thank you Errol and Eleanore.

I briefly encountered some financial difficulty and the school was kind enough to continue to support my training until I was able to pay my bill and thanks to that I was able to pass my road test. Thanks to Neil's great instruction, I passed my driving exam on the first try yesterday. I took the lessons at NSDS because I spent my first 10 years of my driving career in a country who drives on the left hand side of the road. All my instincts and reactions here in Canada were backwards!. Neil was excellent. He gives written feedback after each lesson based on the type of exam you actually will undergo when you take your test at ICBC. He actually trains driving instructors and his experience showed. Thanks to the entire gang at NSDS! I'm very happy I have this milestone under my belt.

I just took my class 5 road test today and cleared it at one go, thanks to all the advice from David, my instructor from NSDS. He was super responsive to my questions, pointed out my weak points and took time to sort those out. He is really friendly and didn't put any pressure on me. Although, a bit towards the pricier side and given the fact that they had to reschedule my classes a couple of times because of unavailability of the instructor, I fully recommend taking classes from NSDS. If you can get good advice and proper instructions, it's totally worth it IMO.

If ANYONE is looking to get some driver training, I can't recommend North Shore Driving School enough! After taking lessons with a different company and not having much success, I decided to give NSDS a try, and it was like night and day! Instead of just making sure I passed my road test, my instructor Eric was passionate about turning me into a responsible and confident driver. It quickly got to the point where rather than having anxiety before each of my lessons, I was genuinely excited to get behind the wheel and drive more! I have my license now, and I can't thank the staff of NSDS enough for their courtesy and dedication :)

I have held my N for more than 10 years and finally decided to schedule a road test to get rid of it. I initially booked a driving lesson with another school in East Vancouver, one hour, and the instructor was just okay. She provided some suggestions, but I didn't feel super confident leaving our lesson... it felt as though she was scolding me, rather than helping me. I booked my road test in North Vancouver, a location I was unfamiliar with. I found the North Shore driving school via Yelp and booked a 1.5 hour lesson with Eric on a Saturday. In addition to being very personable and friendly, he provided helpful suggestions and made sure I practiced them over and over until I felt comfortable. In the end, his suggestions were more useful in the actual road test than the East Vancouver driving school. He made a very good point: when you're taking the Class 5 test, the examiner is looking for any bad habits you've formed over the years and "not necessarily" that you're following all the rules by the book. The lesson was fun, not intimidating and Eric was really funny. Yes it will cost you a bit more to go with North Shore driving school but I passed the road test with flying colours and it was a great experience.

Supplementary lessons are offered if need be as well. The office staff here are great too, had everything booked for me within one phone call. She was very patient and accommodating when we had to reschedule on several occasions and also called us with reminders on what to bring to lessons and to the road test. After my daughter passed her test Elena called to congratulate her which I thought was above and beyond.
