I am so thankful to Jim's Driving school and especially thankful for my driving instructor Abdul who is the best teacher. I know I am only as good in my driving due to the excellent teaching abilities that I have learnt from Abdul. I recently passed my G drivers license but it has been Abdul's guidance that got me from my G2 to my G license. Abdul keeps time, is very patient and loves his job and cares about his students. He is very knowledgeable and has a lot of great experience. I recommend Jim's Driving school and Abdul as the go to driving instructor in Ottawa. You won't regret it!

If you had told me 5 years ago that I would have been given my G license, I would have called you crazy. I spent a good portion of my life feeling deeply uncomfortable with driving for various personal reasons, and had pretty much resigned myself to never having a license, as much as it would be good to have the ability. With my G2 arriving at expiration for the second time in my life, I decided to take some additional lessons and see if there was any hope. I had low expectations as my experience with 2 previous driving instructors was pretty negative. Yassin however was different. He explained what I was doing wrong, instead of just castigating me when I made mistakes. He was reliable on his availability and scheduling. He was patient and informative, and I finally learned how to parallel park with great ease. Despite my nerves and the fact that we went on an unpredictable route due to the airport parkway being closed off during my test, I managed to pass my G test this summer and now I am grateful for all the opportunities open to me in the near future. I had Jamal and he was horrible! He called yelling at me a few weeks before meeting thinking I was someone else, which is unprofessional for me and for who he meant to call. I had 5 appointments set up and he cancelled on 3 of them on me. For the 2 in car, all he did was yell at me and vape in the car. THE WHOLE TIME. He never answered my questions and would yell if I messed up instead of showing me and teaching me. He would go on his phone during the car ride too. I hated it and have never gone back. Trying to find a new driving instructor. UPDATE: I was given Manzour and I am still disappointed and so frustrated with Jims driving school and the unprofessionalism I have had to experience. Manzour does not listen at all, I had told him on the phone and in text multiple times of previous time committments and that I cannot do evenings, yet he keeps trying to book them. When I text him, he says "I'll let you know" and then never tells me when he's free UNLESS he texts me only 2 hours notice before his recommended time (which is ALWAYS during the time I said I couldn't no matter how many times I remind him) or he calls me late at night. He never reads my texts properly either no matter what information I share with him. I also don't appreciate him telling me only an hour or two before a lesson when he's free but yet I get charged a fee if I cancel within the 24 hours before? That's not fair. He should let me know at least 24 hours before. Also a personal note, I have a brother who is disabled and a grandfather who is not doing well, both who are fully dependent and live at home with me and my family, so I can't just go see him with only a couple hours notice. We also said that we preferred morning yet he always schedules during my previous engagements. I am so frustrated and annoyed with the unprofessionalism of these instructors. I have been trying for all of July to meet with him, we haven't even been in the car yet with him and I plan to go to the school (for the second time, my father has already gone before) and complain again and demand a refund. This is unacceptable.

I chose this school because I heard some really good things about it through friends. As an older learner it was interesting to be in a class with high school students as they have a lot of energy. The instructor was patient and very knowledgeable. I would recommend anyone to do their drivers courses through this company.

I have jamal and he is amazing. I don't know what that other girl is talking about because Jamal is very good at teaching. He's very patient and you can joke around with him because he has a sense of humour. For some people he even stops at Tim Hortons for them. He tries not to use his break as much as possible so he know you're learning how to drive by yourself. He's always on time and never tries to make you feel dumb like some people would. I would 10/10 recommend requesting for Jamal.

I chose this driving School as some one recommended it. I learnt how to drive in it's perfect way, Thank you Peyman for your great job and your awesome team. I never saw a women teacher there as some ppl just BS around. their price is way cheap for what they do. they go beyond the training to make sure you get the best result. the other important thing I loved about Peyman was, he won't let you go for the actual test unless you're really ready. so that saves you time waiting in waiting list over and over and wasting money and time. I am very happy and satisfied taking his driving school.I will strongly recommend his classes over all other ppl as I already had experience with some other driving schools on Montreal rd, and it was terrible. Very helpful staff, knowledgeable instructors, reasonable rates and a good experience overall. Unlike most people I took my in class lessons when I was much older (22), mainly for insurance purposes. So I found the in class section slightly tedious. However, it is very informative and engaging for young drivers. My in car sessions were with Norman and he was a great instructor. He is hard on you so you get it right. By the end of 10 hours I was pretty confident of passing the road test. I would highly recommend him and Jim's Driving School as a whole.

Had a bad experience during my In car lessons. My instructor always yells at me and that did not help in building my confidence in driving. Althea does not always give clear and accurate instructions during lessons. I always end up making mistakes during parking and while I am on the road. She is lacking patience in teaching people that has Zero experience in driving like me. It felt that I wasted my time and money taking my Drivers Ed and In Car lessons at Jims Driving School. So, I decided to take lessons from another Instructor from a different driving school and it went better than I have expected. Inam was so patient and helped me build up my confidence and have better judgement on the road. Finally, I was able to pass my G2 road test on my second take. No thanks to Jims Driving School. I recommend that you get your lessons from Inam at Ottawa driving school.

Everything you could really expect from a great driving school with fair rates. In class sessions were both interesting and informative and the teacher was more than capable of answering any questions you had. If you are to drive with any instructor, ask for Norman. He always tells you how it is even if it is not what you wanted to hear, but that's what made him so great. Passed the driver's test with no problems at all.

I was very nervous to learn how to drive in high way, but he helped me to feel incredibly comfortable behind the wheel. One of the most helpful things about having Peyman as my instructor was that he was diligent about teaching me the rules of the road so I could be confident (but not overconfident!!) about my decisions as a driver. So i wanted to take the G test, i was looking for a nice instructor. Saw the google reviews and decided to give Jim Peymen a call. He was so humble and down to earth and explained everything on the phone so clearly. I took a couple of classes with him and he was so punctual, courteous and so very patient. I passed the test in the very 1st attempt. I reckon everyone to pay attention to every word that he says, coz it was very useful in the test. He is a thorough gentleman and really deserves every bit of praise he gets on google reviews. If you are on the fence and deciding which school to go to, think no more and enrol here. Moreover, 10 hours of driving with my instructor Manzoor ahmadzai improved significantly my driving experience and helped me understand what and what not to do when driving on the road. I did not have a good experience with this school. This is because, I was not prepared well by the driving instructors. My initial instructor was abusive, and was always shouting even though he knew that I was new to driving and had not driven since due to the many lockdowns we had. By the time I complained to the school after we came out of lockdown, 6hrs were used from my time. I was switched to another instructor for the remaining 4hrs, and it was bad as well. My 6hrs wasted with no retribution. I was not taught anything else except moving the car forward in my 10 lessons. It was my understanding that they will train you for the test right ? I did not receive such training, and only learnt to park, parallel park and three point turn at the final lesson. After I finished my 10 classes with the instructors, I was not close to being ready for the test. I had to retrain with another instructor from another school, and I was able to pass the test and got my G2. I spent nearly the same amount I initially paid to Jim’s, as the new instructor could see that I lacked the basic training. I then recommended a family member to the school as I thought maybe it was just my experience and hoping hers will be different . However, the same situation has happened, and now she will need to go train with another instructor paying almost the same fees so she can learn to actually pass the test. It has been an awful experience with this school, and I did not expect this to go this way. It is really unfair and I hope the school does better.

I had Nasima as my driving instructor and she was fantastic. I recommend you ask for Nasima. I went with no driving experience, no access to a car to passing my G1 exit test on the first try. Her directions are clear, she is always on time, and she genuinely cares about you learning to drive and passing the test. I learned to parallel park, 3 pt turn, park uphill/downhill, work on turning around corners without whipping around, etc. Great experience.

After reading the comments on here I called Jims Driving school and requested Jamal! I have had 3 out of 5 lessons. Before private lessons with jamal I was very nervous, anxious and scared of driving. Now because of him I drive with confidence and have finally booked my G2 road test. Jamal is very patient and kind, he explains situations in a way which you have a better understanding he will point out your mistakes but also guide you on how to correct them! He has a wonderful sense of humour and make you feel comfortable and calm! I would reccomend him to any new driver for sure a 10/10 Thank you Jamal for preparing me for my G2! :)

Based on the reviews, I contacted this school. The guy was pleasant at first but then he changed to a grovelling, judgmental instructor that was not showing me what I was doing wrong and would just shake his head and laugh. I paid for passive aggressive behaviour? Maybe I should have been Persian or something else to get respect and my money's worth? Finally he told me that he would pray for me on my test day. Would not recommend.

This is a good driving school. Last summer, when it came time for me to pass my driving test, I started looking into some of my local driving schools. The first thing that stood out for me was the price; these driving schools can be quite expensive! I chose Jim’s because they offered what I considered to be a fairer price than what was offered elsewhere. I have absolutely no complaints regarding the in-class instructor. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had regarding the material being presented. She was also able to clearly and effectively present the material, and ensure that every student in the class understood. The in-car instructor was great. I was quite nervous about getting into a car for the first time and he quickly put me at ease. I never felt nervous driving around, which allowed me to better focus on my driving. The information and techniques he provided me with were also very useful. I went from having never sat behind the wheel of a car to being able to parallel park with ease! He was also very helpful in preparing me for my test. He was able to explain the process, so that I knew what to expect when the day of my test arrived. Needless to say, when the day came, I passed my test on the first shot. I would definitely recommend this school.

After 5 years of very little driving, I took 5 lessons with Peiman and just passed my G test. Peiman is wonderful - he has plenty of tips and tricks to make you a stronger, more defensive driver. He gives constructive feedback without it feeling like criticism. He's also very professional and always punctual. If you want to pass your test I'd highly recommend Peiman from Jim's Driving School!

I am very happy that I went with my friend's recommendation to call Peiman. My friend and I had two lessons with him and we passed the G test from the first try. Peiman is very professional and kind, lessons were fun and informative. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants driving lessons. One advice to students: if you don't have a car to do the test with, inform your driving instructor as soon as you can, you will have to pay but you can get one lesson before the exam and take the car to do the test.

I went to Jim's Driving School a few years back and really didn't enjoy my time there. My in-class instructor was WEIRD and very unprofessional. She did not make the class enjoyable whereas I had other friends that went to other schools in the area and enjoyed their in-class. The curriculum was VERY dry and did not make me want to learn the theory of driving. The in-car instructor wasn't the greatest either. He seemed nice but would always be on his phone and smoke in the car. I thought I had learned alot but then when I went to another school to brush up on my skills for my G2 I realized all I really did was spend 10 hours driving around and there was no way I would have been ready for my test. I wish we spent more time on parallel parking because now, 6 years later, I still don't know how to parallel park. I just learned the basics from the other schools to be able to pass my G2 and G. I feel as if I had wasted my money, might as well have paid a little more and got my money's worth. The instructor was also booked by other students waaayyy in advance, so he would overbook and I can only fit in one lesson a month or maybe if I was lucky 2. It didn't seem like that school had many instructors available at the time. Even if other schools are more expensive, you truly get what you pay for. If you dont really care and are just doing this for the sake of going to a driving school you can come here. But if you truly want to learn how to drive safely and effectively, look up the reviews and go to another school. Spend the extra $ because you'll only be doing this once in your life.

I was searching for driving schools for my son and noticed that driving schools have such a bad reputation for the cost of the program. The cost varies between 600 to as high as 900 around the Ottawa area. To me, that is reasonable prices given that the instructors have to use their gas and time to go back and forth. How much does it cost for an Uber or taxi for an hour? likely more than $45 for sure and they don't even teach you to drive and expect a tip at the end of it. I have had one son in music lessons which amount to $50/hour/week which amounts to $2500/year. I have also had my son in karate: paid upfront $1300/year and decided that I wanted out a few weeks later and had no refund at all. I have other friends who spend $1000 per year on hockey fees/gear and another who spend equal amount on dance lessons for her daughter. Thus, why are we willing to pay these non- essential lessons so much money on a recurrent basis without batting an eyelash when we are bemoaning $600 to $900 as a one time cost to get our teenagers to drive safely? Let us get our priorities straight. Those who put forth negativity should be cautious as the laws of karma will reciprocate whatever you put out to the universe. I am posting this to the main driving school websites.

I had Jihad as my driving instructor. He made parallel parking, reverse parking, and 3 point turns simple by showing you how to do it in a couple steps. He was also very nice, and makes you feel prepared and comfortable.

I was extremely happy with the instructor named Tanveer. He was patient and clear, he helped me improve my driving and prepare for the exam to get my G driving licence. He showed me exactly what to do before hand (sometimes using drawings) and he gave me his instructions in advance. He was also very respectful, positive and he did not criticize me if I made a mistake: he just explained it and helped me practice until I was capable of doing it right! He gave the confidence I needed to succeed in my test and helped me correct what I was doing wrong. I can tell he puts his heart and his proud in doing the best possible job with his students. I absolutely recommend him! He is the best driving instructor I've ever had. It is absolutely worth the money you might spend in his instruction. Not sure about the in-car experience but an hour ago(Sunday morning 10h00 ) a Jim's Driving School beige- coloured vehicle exercised very poor judgement in aggressively joining the Airport Parkway southbound from Ridgemont and forced me to slow up to avoid colliding with a vehicle required to yield. Can this be a certified driving instructor meeting the accolades of all these other impressive comments? Can't say I would recommend the service.

Jim’s Driving School was recommended to me for my daughter in 2019. We have now used their services twice for both of my daughters. Both times, I was extremely pleased with the outcome. My daughters were both successful on their first attempt at the G2. Their instructor, Peiman was very calm, patient and extremely professional. They both did the BDE and the road test sessions with Jim’s. The MTO (Drive Test Centre) was extremely overbooked due to an error with their scheduling system on July 5, 2021. Peiman waited for over an hour with my daughter until her test. He talked to her and kept her calm during the extremely long wait. He is a true professional. I would highly recommend Peiman and Jim’s Driving School.

I have been looking at various driving schools to learn to drive..I registered with jims but each time I go to pay for the course they are never open even if its during the hours of operation they advise on their front door and on the website..very misleading and unprofessional. I will be sending my younger children to Jim's driving school and recommending them to my friends. My son completed his classroom written work, took road lessons and just passed his road test - all with Jim's staff support. My son said the instructors made the in class work as fun as is possible and were clear helpful people. They provided lots of little extra hints and driving tips. Nasima was a gem of a in car driving instructor. She was patient yet firm so my child felt comfortable learning how to drive and is not a much more confident driver. My son has learned some new tricks for parking etc which he has been able to teach me. Cannot recommend this group enough - they are great!

had an awful experience at Jims during my in car sessions. My driving instructor constantly talked on his phone on speaker while I was driving he texted and payed little attention to my driving, often living me unsure of where to go or what to do. On top of that I was distracted by his conversations and would most times be eating and throwing things back and forth from the passenger seat to the back. After several sessions with him I became fed up and asked for a new driver, by this time I only had 2 sessions left the new driver had to teach me how to parallel park, 3 point turn, up hill and down hill park in 2 classes. After those 2 sessions I still wasn't 100% so he offered if I wanted to pay for more lessons. over all the experience was horrible and left me in a place where I had to invest more money and learn on my own because of my first drivers stupidity. I do not recommend JIms Driving school.

I would like to thank Jim's Driving school team for helping me learning to drive. I had driving instructor Abdul. Lessons were easy to schedule, Abdul could accommodate my working schedule. He was very patient, kind and encouraging. He took his time to explain things. Even if he had to repeat things twice or more. I was able to practice my driving not only on the roads i know or the roads i need to take to go to school or work but also was able to drive on the roads that were not familiar to me. It was good and very useful to practice, having understanding and patient instructor who helps you every minute. I was also lucky to have few hours with instructor Peiman, he is a great instructor, helped me build my confidence on the road. This school is ok if you want to pass with high marks, but bad if you want to learn. You can mark your own tests and the final exam was done as a class.
