I was very unsatisfied in my service with Keith. I understand that a lesson of basic driving skills must be done before driving on busier roads; what I do not understand is although he told me I was doing everything correctly my entire lesson was taken up doing this. I felt as though this was a money grab, especially when I was told that it would only be a small portion of my lesson. I have also heard from others that they are on a number of lessons with him and have not yet moved past the point of doing basic driving lessons (i.e. stopping at stop signs) even though he has told them they are doing it correctly. I feel as though Keith would be okay for first time drivers, though I had explained to him that I have been driving for a long time (full licence for a number of years) with no accidents or any issues, just simply wanted lessons to get used to Ottawa traffic. Even so, I do not feel as though Keith adapts to his clients needs. I would also like to add that I wish I had read reviews beforehand as I find it quite disturbing how he has replied to bad reviews, especially including peoples names when they clearly are meant to be anonymous and even worse, adding clients home addresses. Very unprofessional.

I haven't driven since my G2 test almost 5 years ago, so going for my G this past November made me nervous. Keith helped me overcome my nervous driving in a matter of months and was persistent enough to break a lot of bad driving habits that I adapted through observing others drive. I really recommend him as a driving instructor! He's patient and really cares about his students. He doesn't only want you to pass your road test, he wants you to be a good driver which shows in his instruction. I passed my G with an 88% and not to mention with a heck of a lot more confidence in my driving.

After several years driving in Spain I brought with me some bad habits that would lead me to fail the G driving test. Keith is an awesome instructor! I asked him for a few hours of refresher lessons to help regain my confidence on Ontario roads after several years abroad, and he provided exactly that. A total crash course (no pun intended) in a few hours, we covered absolutely everything I was worried about and he explained and demonstrated everything in detail, I practiced the maneuvers I was most unfamiliar with as many times as I wanted and he gave me all kinds of great tips. Keith has helped me overcome my fear of driving - especially since the death of a close relative in a collision. I had never wanted to pursue driving nor thought that I would be able to. When I finally decided to try - I called several driving schools, but only Keith described in detail his methodology and made me feel that I would be able to get behind the wheel. On my first drive with him, I didn't know the brake from the gas - but day by day we have worked on the basics, progressively working our way through the skills to drive safely and efficiently. Early on in my training with Keith, I had a severe panic attack, and Keith calmly talked me through it with patience and kindness. We are now 6 weeks into my training with several more to go, but I am confident that through his training I will reach my goal of getting my driver's license - at age 43! What I appreciate most about Keith is his methodology, his focus on repetition before learning a new skill, and his work ethic - he never compromises his methodology to suit my expectations, but makes sure that I understand the learning process. I really can't say enough great things about Keith. I passed my G test last Friday and I couldn't be more thrilled and it's all thanks to him. I've struggled with my fear of driving and anxiety for over ten years and until I met Keith, I didn't think I'd ever overcome it and be able to get behind the wheel. I was in my mid twenties and had failed the G2 test already because I was scared and nervous of driving. The previous instructors I had kept yelling at me, and practicing with my parents always ended up with me in tears. Keith was so patient and understanding, it only took me three lessons to get over my fear and realize that driving isn't so bad after all. I was able to build up my confidence in my driving skills. I moved to Quebec and didn't have the chance to take more lessons, but because of his help in the short time I spent with him, I passed the test on the Quebec side, bought myself a car, and now I'm driving myself everywhere. Keith is an amazing driving instructor! He is patient, knowledgeable and professional. He made me immediately at ease during my first lesson since I’ve always been anxious behind the wheel. So when he arrived he didn't even introduce himself as keith. He was also late on arrival. He rudely told me to give him my drivers licence before I even had a chance to sit down. He had no patients with me and we sat there for over 20 mins while he was trying to explain about the mirrors. He definately was not to professional and his mannerism was terrible. I would not reccoment him to my worst enemy. Awful experience.

When you first met Keith, it's a bit hit and miss with his demeanor if you don't have similar personality styles in the beginning. I stuck with him, because he had so many positive reviews, I clearly just need to give it some time to feel comfortable. I was a true nervous wreck behind the wheel, so I wanted his attention 100% which in the beginning I didn't feel like I got. The more I got to know him on a personal level, the more comfortable I was with him with his teaching style, and driving in general, the less I was focusing on whether he was paying attention to me (he was). I like that he taught me to drive in residential, before I started with bigger streets and then highways, before showing me the test route. He made sure I knew how to drive relatively well first, before he even thought about showing me the route, which is crucial. He explained things well and was pretty patient with my repeated errors. I walked away with 90 on my G2 exit test and feeling more confident with my skills and comfortable about getting behind the wheel. There are many drivers on Ottawa streets driving, who truly needs a few refresher lessons (so many bad drivers!). I recommend him :)

Keith is an excellent instructor! I met Keith a couple of months ago when I was looking online for driving classes. I started my first class with absolutely zero experience in driving, as I had never really needed to drive before. Keith explained everything patiently in the slightest detail from the obvious starting points (me being a complete beginner!!), to how to analyze situations on the road, how to judge the speed of other cars, etc, and corrected every stage so that I learn how to drive with maximum safety. Keith teaches easy-to-follow methods how to do parking, which made it really simple and fun to learn. He is very professional and has a great sense of humour and incredible patience! If you want to excel your driving test but above all learn how to properly drive and be confident while driving you best option is to take clases with Keith. After not driving for the past 7 years since emigrating to Canada and facing the need to get a driving licence asap I was very nervous and not very confident with my driving skills. I had failed my exam before and that made me really nervous while driving. I contacted Keith seeking help and he was great at pointing out why I had failed in my previous attempt. Not only he helped me correct my mistakes, he also gave me confidence to not feel stress and anxious while in the wheel. Keith will not take short cuts for you to only approve the exam, he will teach you how to drive in all conditions outside the exam route, which I think is FUNDAMENTAL. Many other instructors will only concentrate in you passing the exam by memorizing the route in the exam but once you are in your daily life driving you will encounter many situations that you might not know how to deal but with Keith lessons this is not the case. After you have completed the lessons with Keith you will be very well prepared to face everyday life driving without any issue and also you will know how to feel good and relax while driving. I am super happy that Keith helped me improve my driving skills in a way that now I am very confident and I don't have anxiety every time I am in my car driving. At the end I passed my exam with excellent marks and I couldn't be happier that this was because Keith really focused in teaching me how to be safe while driving following all the road rules. I never post reviews but a year ago I was reading these thinking no one could possibly help me get over my fear of driving and now Keith has helped me not only get my license but also learn to drive. I make that distinction because at 17 years old I took driving lessons with an Ottawa driving school and I did pass the G2 test but I still didn't know how to drive (and was still terrified of driving). I ended up letting my license lapse and never driving because I thought there was no way i'd ever be comfortable or good at it. In my late 20s I decided to try again and I found Keith and i'm so happy I did. He understands that each person is unique in the way they learn and it shows in the confidence I gained in driving. He also teaches you to drive well and be aware of other drivers. If that wasn't enough he's also a very kind and supportive person. If you suffer from anxiety or any mental health issues he is 100% the person I would recommend. I entered a depression a few months into my lessons and Keith was super encouraging and understanding. He also understood my anxieties towards driving. Getting my license felt like a huge accomplishment and I wouldn't have had that happen without Keith! Keith, sorry this took so long but i'm finally feeling better :)!!

When I decided to finally learn how to drive at the age of 40, I was extraordinarily fortunate to have Keith as my in-car instructor. He was patient and thorough and prepared me well for the G2 exam. He has an engaging style, relaxed and with a good dose of humour, but underneath the casual demeanour he notes every little detail. He is able to relay instructions and correct errors without eroding your confidence, which is especially important for new or nervous drivers. Learning to drive as an adult is vastly different from learning as a teenager, and Keith has the comprehension and patience to coax you through the process. His eye for detail and extensive knowledge of what examiners are looking for makes him the ideal instructor to prepare you for the practical exams. A couple of years after getting my G2 we had moved to the country and I was driving 50+ km daily, but I didn’t hesitate to contact Keith for a refresher class to prepare for my G exam. His guidance was absolutely essential – not only because I’d developed some bad habits driving on my own, but also because he was able to tell me exactly what to expect, which for me made all the difference. Even my husband, who had significant driving experience in another country, hired Keith for a couple of sessions to make sure he was prepared to pass the Ontario exam. As a translator who often prepares documents for immigrants wishing to accredit experience to obtain their Ontario license, I recommend Keith all the time. His knowledge and experience are second-to-none!

By driving a thousand times on the exam route, you're beyond guaranteed to pass with flying colours, but how prepared are you, dealing different kinds of situations on the road? I had to retake my driving test. I was extremely lucky to find Keith Marian. Keith agreed to a series of intensive lessons over a four-week period. I had to erase bad habits including speeding and paying little attention to mirror and blind spot checks. It was hard and very stressful. Keith clearly recognized my anxiety and corrected me with patience and understanding. He is an extremely good teacher – he understands people, he accepts who they are, and he knows how to how to communicate and tailor his teaching to individual students. Keith will not teach you to just pass your test, say goodbye at the test centre and walk away. He teaches you how to drive safely; he considers it his responsibility as a driving instructor to teach you a skill, which you need to practice for the rest of your life. I passed my test. There is no way I would have come close to passing had I not taken driving lessons from Keith Marian. I apologize I didn't write sooner but driving around this last week really reminded me why I'm such a confident and in my opinion, good driver... it's because of YOU! I've had previous instructors that wasted my time and money and did not accommodate my anxiety when driving. Keith took his time, made sure I was comfortable moving on from small roads to the bigger ones. He taught me how to be a good and defensive driver. He answered every question I had without judgement. Review # 1: After attempting the Ontario G2 Driver's Test twice, unsuccessfully; I knew I needed some extra assistance outside of driving with my wife in her vehicle. Being the stubborn man I am, I didn't want to sit in a classroom for hours at a time; I simply wanted hands-on, practical driving lessons in a vehicle, with a driving instructor to teach me all the little nuances and crucial information and skills. Well, that is exactly what I received with Keith. He is patient, and thorough, and after I had left any pre-conceived notions and habits I had regarding my own driving capability, and actually listened to the constructive critiquing and lessons Keith was providing; I found that my driving ability and confidence grew exponentially. I can't thank him enough, and he receives my glowing recommendation. Review # 2: I was so pleased with the instructional service Keith provided in preparation for my G2 Road Test (in which I was successful), that I returned a year later to receive further assistance in preparation for my Full-G Road Test. I did this, as I wanted to iron out any bad or lazy habits I had picked up on in the year since my last instruction. Once again, I was given top quality in-car lessons; where we started with the basics and worked our way to the advanced techniques. Again I found it best enter into the lesson with an open mind, and open to the suggestions and constructive critiquing that was being offered. You would be surprised what a trip back to basics can do for you, even if you've been driving for a number of years. It should be noted that I, again passed my road test on the first attempt when utilizing Keith's advice and the lessons taught. Once again, I cannot thank Keith enough, and I whole-heartedly recommend him to anyone, even those whom have been driving for some time! *Note: Review # 2 is an Edit/Addendum to Original Review as (for whatever reason) Google would not allow me to write an additional review.

Keith is a skilled professional and a fantastic instructor who always provides feedback and helps you become a confident, responsible and most importantly safe driver. I've been avoiding getting my license for years because I've found no enjoyment or comfort in driving - only anxiety and frustration. Slowly but surely, with Keith's help all of that changed and I couldn't be happier with how far I've come as a driver, passing my G2 on the first try. If you are nervous behind the wheel, I cannot recommend Keith enough! Before I started taking lessons with him, even the thought of driving would make me anxious. I am very grateful that I found Keith, and decided to message him (based off of similar stellar reviews he had on here). He is a very patient person, and appreciates completely the role nerves and lack of confidence has on someone's driving abilities. He also tells you like it is - which I appreciated! His goal is not simply for you to pass a test - it's for you to become a safe and confident driver that is able to handle any situation you find yourself in. I honestly never thought I would say this, but I actually enjoy driving now. I would not be here without Keith's expertise. Lastly, he's very fun and a great conversationalist. The lessons in the car go by fast, and you can tell he tries to get to know everyone who is in his car. I'm already missing our chats! p.s. if you ever want to score brownie points with him - bring some vegan recipes with you into the car! He'll love it.

I have recently just passed my driving test and it was not without a great amount of Keith's help. Keith was very helpful and was always giving useful and timely advice as I drove, picking up on things most would never notice. His great attention to detail to my driving helped me immensely in my confidence as I felt that he was always able to anticipate where advice or pointers would be needed and/or useful. He picked up on absolutely everything and was always blunt and to the point as an instructor, yet not the least bit rude or impatient and quite professional. I doubt there is a single licensed driver in Ottawa that wouldn't benefit from a driving lesson with Keith. Would 100% recommend!

He takes advantage of young anxious drivers. He undermines their confidence on purpose to ensure more business for himself. Parents, beware. Ask for feedback and judge if it's valid. He won't volunteer feedback in writing. Unprofessional.
