These reviewers must be getting paid. This couldn't be further from the truth. My husband started trucking school with the North American Transport Driving Academy because it was $1500 less than the other schools and after his experience, I know why. It has been over 6 months since he started and it was supposed to be 6 weeks. They have been cancelling classes because there isn't a truck to use or some other reason (at the last minute too). In the end he ended up losing 4.5 months wages because of this lax and unprofessional demeanour. Many other students in his class have been complaining about the same thing. We are far from alone in this. Save yourself the headache and go with a decent school. Instructors are good but the business is seriously and deeply flawed.

Very good school, they make sure to give you to right information not only for passing your Road Test for AZ or DZ but in real life skills. They worked around my schedule and concentrated on my weak areas where I need more attention. They were all very patient and professional in their teaching. The instructors were Dave, Andy and Robb. They provide actual hands on experience and partner you with experienced drivers for mentorship and guidance. I love the in-house job placement - 6 weeks and working! My time at North American Transport Driving Academy taught me not only how to safely operate a tractor-trailer, but so much more. The school is committed to teaching the students as much about the world of trucking as possible, and they do an excellent job at it. Jay is a fantastic teacher and truck driver, who is always ready to listen and help. He isn’t afraid to tell it how it really is though, and will not sugar coat real life. He will patiently, yet with a stern push in the right direction, always show the safest manner to overcome any obstacle. Jay truly loves watching things fall together, and student figuring things out with his teaching. He will have a smile as big as yours when you finally get over a big hurdle. Rachel is always willing to help you anyway she can from the office. During my week in the classroom she was so helpful words can not do her work justice. Even after my week in the classroom, she was always there to answer any questions or concerns I had. She really goes above and beyond to communicate to the students everything they will need to be successful. The work she does is fantastic in keeping the school organized, clean and ready for students to learn. The owner Ben and I, only met for two days, as he normally operates from his Kingston location. However, it was clear from our short meetings, he is dedicated to the students whole-heartedly. Safety is his number one concern, as he made it clear he has a commitment to the general driving population, to ensure each and every driver who passes his course will operate a tractor-trailer safely. He is always willing to listen to any criticisms you may have with open ears, and truly takes them to heart to better his school for the students. As with anything, the trucks would break down from time to time, but were always repaired in a timely manner. The Academy still did everything they could for us, even with limited resources. Even though it could be frustrating from time to time because of the trucks, I never felt like my education was put on the back burner. It always came first. Overall, I would recommend anyone who wants to start their career in the transportation industry, should give them a call to get started. The lessons and memories I made at the academy will stay with me for a lifetime.

Before joining any school for my AZ License, I googled a lot and went to many schools to make a choice. I saw so many awards and bold statements in their website. I thought these are just to attract the students BUT they are genuine and true to the roots. So, I went with these guys and I made it in time and I am now a proud commercial licensed driver. I started with 4 classmates and we all got our AZ license !! I would love to recommend this school to anyone who wants to go for their AZ.

Jodie was very accommodating when booking my training and for making it possible for me to attend the "Z" Endorsement Course and Training on such short notice. She made it easy for me. Tums-up!!! for her prompt responses and actions to accommodate the participants. I would also like to thank Dave, our trainer. He gives an excellent course backed up with 45 years of experience. This is an invaluable resource of information, knowledge and expertise. I learned a lot from Dave in a short time. We covered a lot of material in 2 days, and Dave made it easy, enjoyable to understand and apply. Dave is conscientious and cares about the success of his students. He does not just teach the information in the books. He teaches us and prepares us for the road ahead. Kudos to Dave!!! Should I need to do my class "A," I would want to do it with Dave. The level of camaraderie is very appreciated. The encouragement and help from the other participants were also reassuring in the challenging moments of the course. Even though the company usually also offers the course in Ottawa, the following course dates were too far. It was worth the drive down to Belleville from Orleans I'm very grateful! I definitely recommend North American Transport Academy and I won't hesitate to refer people that need the training and certification in the trucking business.

I needed a DZ in a hurry for work. The whole staff were able to accomodate and get me to a road test in time. The instructors are excellent and dont count their time. I received above and beyond instructional service. When one instructor was away dealing with paperwork etc another would just jump in and test me. I aced the practical and it is an easy 5 star review from me. Highly recommended.

North American Transport Driving Academy is the best school, I got to train with 8 - 10 speed manual trucks, sometimes they would ask me what truck I wanted for the afternoon.... My Road Test was a breeze. I learned a lot through Chris in the shortest time i had with him as a trainer. He helped give me confidence going into the real world with all kinds of different situations he put me in on the road. He would test me at all times every class about everything. I am sure at least some of these reviews are paid for... I took my DZ course with them and was thoroughly disappointed with the instructor there. Ben seemed to have no respect for the time of the students in his class, consistently being late in the mornings, late when coming back from lunch, etc. I also found that he constantly used his position as an instructor to tell stories about his time in the trucking business, his interactions with the police, and more. While I was not at all happy with how the course was instructed I did end up passing my DZ test which is what I ultimately paid for so it wasn't all bad.

This school like anywhere has some issues. The weather....equipment problems etc. It also has some amazing people at it. The instructors, Marc, Don and Bill are experienced and patient. They will not sugar coat things but they will, with kindness and understanding, help you figure how best to overcome obstacles. They work fluidly with each individual and look at where the issues are and tell you what you need to do differently. When you have a bad day they always find a positive to try and pick you up. I am honest in saying I have not found it easy but it was at least smooth because of these 3. Ontop of that there is Rachel who despite being new has tried to help me in so many ways and has always been there as an ear to listen and a hand to help. My career is not started yet but it will always be on a good road because of these individuals. Thank you all.

I am currently working on getting my ACZ license with the Kingston branch. The instructors and staff are truly amazing and go far beyond the mere requirements of training you. I have had trouble passing the road test as I freeze during testing. This is not a fault of the school, support or training. In fact they have gone even more beyond to employ me and help me get the confidence to pass with on the job training. I have recommended the school to a number of people in the past few months and will continue to in the future. If anyone is looking for a great fundamental start to a great career then North American Trucking Academy is definitely where I would recommend without hesitation.

I checked out all the schools in Ottawa and North American was the best choice because the other schools would have around 10 or more students in one class as for North American they limit their classes to 3 or 4 students so that the students get more one on one time with the instructor. Marc was my instructor and he is very knowledgeable and puts his students first. He also makes you comfortable when training and makes sure you get the time to learn the right skills before moving forward in training. Also the facilities are very clean and there is lots of space for learning. Also management is always there to help you anyway possible. This is why I decided to go with North American Trucking Academy because they put me first before numbers and made sure that I had the tools to succeed.

Just graduated from the school and got my ACZ license! North American Transport Driving Academy is one of the best training facilities I have ever experienced in my life. They have great staff who are willing to help at anytime, very experiensed instructors, and well designed training plan which accommodate individual's different situation and requirements, plus plenty of on truck training hours, all of these together helped me to acquire necessory knowledge and skills, not only to pass the MTO driving test, but also to become a professional truck driver on the road. I went to Crossroads which is now Ontario trucking to get my DZ and I was not happy with their program or their teachers. So I went to North American Transport Driving Academy to get my ACZ. They have best instructors for you to work with one on one. When I wasn't getting along with one of my teachers I talked to the owner Jason about what was going on. Jason made my course very enjoyable because he gave me the instructors that were the best fit for me and there names are Dave and Andy. They have a lot of patience and they are professionals and know what they are doing. North American also has only 1 week of in class. Crossroads has 2 weeks in class so they can save money instead of getting the practice you need for your on road Drive Test. I would recommend everyone that is reading this to go to this school because they will help you find a career even after you have graduated. Now I am going to Kriska for a Entry Level Mentorship and they will pay for my tuition reimbursement and after completion of my apprenticeship they will also give me $2000. North American got me on track for a great and successful career.

Course content was up to date and instructors took great care in teacher students. Shift board had some confusing stages during the course, however I am sure it will improve with time. Instructors had great knowledge of course content and seemed to care about the students understanding of course material. I would recommend this course to others.

How is a Canadian company called North American but refused to train Americans? I was informed they do not train Americans nor accept. They have to be from Canada, high school, Canadian license and background. I find this name, company and reviews to either be false claims or the person I spoke with wasn’t who she stated she was when answering the phone call. I would not recommend this company. If it’s causes more drama and foolish things to get help, training, or work, school it’s not worth it. This is how they hire people and what this company is about. Indeed not recommend for USA-Period.

For anyone looking for commercial driver training in Eastern Ontario, they need not look any further than North American Transport Academy. Jason, Ben, Serge and the entire team went above and beyond at every step of my son’s training. They built a custom program that accommodated his learning disability, succeeding where traditional education had failed. In addition to providing extensive classroom and on-road training, they instilled driver responsibility and self-confidence. When my son struggled with his drivers test because of his disability, they were incredibly non-judgemental, and persevered as if he was family. And for my on road training I had Bill from Smith's Falls who was great and made driving fun while still testing my skills throughout the small town. Both Rachel and Chantelle helped me get through the course as fast and efficiently as possible. And Bill from the Ottawa location gave me great insight on passing my pretrip! (The owner of NATDA Academy and I won't be sending each other Christmas cards - but that is a separate issue). NATDA is an excellent transport school. The instructors in Ottawa Marc (in-class) and Bill and Don (in-truck training) are fantastic teachers and communicators, each one of them. Marc's in-class program is spot on, industry relevant and exactly what one would encounter on the road. Don and Bill are incredibly patient and skillful instructors. Their is also a fellow Allan that does the AZ Program- an excellent and informative class. Between these four men they have about 100 years of experience in the trucking industry. If you are serious about getting your AZ or DZ license, you work hard, pay attention, have a good attitude (and turn off your cell phone!!)- you will succeed. NATDA (Ottawa) is very fortunate to have these these instructors. NATDA is not the first transport training school I attended - FAR AND ABOVE the best instructors I have seen.

Past training in the U.S. was nothing compared to the course here. There, I was shown how to drive the expected test route with three days of training in a single axle, automatic vehicle and all written answers handed to me. At North American, I learned much more about safety procedures, log sheets and had lots of time to practice in the truck ... with and without the trailer. Dave's a great instructor ... great experiences with him. Looking forward to applying what I have learned at North American in my career here in Canada.
