I'd like to preface this by saying that I held a North Carolina State Driver's License for 10+ years, and made the mistake of letting my license expire when I moved up to NYC. Once I re-acquired my learner's permit, I began to take driving lessons in NYC so I could get acquainted with city traffic, but I wanted to take my road test in a more rural area so I wouldn't have to deal with the added stress of traffic in New York. I did a google search and found David's Driving School in Spring Valley. It's about a 1hr train ride out of NY Penn Station, and is about a 3 minute walk once you get off the Spring Valley platform. Very convenient and accessible location for anyone living in the city. The woman answering the phone was lovely and hospitable, and it really puts you at ease to hear such a pleasant voice speaking over the phone like that. I booked a 45min practice session in conjunction with their road test package. The day of my road test, it happened to be snowing. When I arrived everyone was very friendly and even offered me a free cup of coffee. My driving instructor (his name was Shai - I apologize if I'm misspelling this) was terrific. In comparison to what I experienced in New York, I would say that he was my best instructor. He understands driving very well, his instructions are extremely clear and easy to follow, and perhaps most importantly - he spoke in a manner that really helped me to relax and just enjoy driving. He also gave me some parallel parking tips that basically resulted in a perfect parallel park every time. Once we got to the road test area, he talked me through exactly how the road test would go, and sure enough - it went exactly how he said it. He prepared me extremely well, and I passed without difficulty. I will tell you that even for someone who is an experienced driver, the DMV road test is a nerve-racking experience. You basically put your fate in the hands of someone who has total power to deny your driving privileges, and it's very easy to let anxiety get the better of you. My instructor really understood the value in building my driving confidence and putting me at ease. I passed and had a great time doing so. A+ recommendation

After living in NYC for most of my life and never needing to drive, I moved to rockland county and was afraid of taking class and learning to drive with people more than half my age. But staff at davids driving school made me feel clam and made my 5 our class breeze by and all of my driving lessons were great. The instructors have this way of teaching you to drive that makes everything feel natural. Never once did i feel they were frustrated or annoyed with any of my mistakes. They just point it out and encourage you. Having taken lessons at another school in rockland that didnt have as many instructors I can and fully recommend Davids to anyone at any age who need to learn to drive. it because of them that I passed my road test today.

This driving school is amazing!! I took three lessons and I was taught exactly what I need to know to pass my test. They caught the little mistakes I made and made sure to correct them before the test. They also took me to the test and helped me practice for an hour before the test. Shai the owner is awesome, he makes the Drivers Ed course a lot of fun. If you're doing lessons I highly recommend Darla. Darla is not your "typical" instructor who is boring and won't talk (There is one like that here). Darla will always make sure you're having good time while learning a ton. No doubt, you are always looking forward to your next lesson with her! On the other hand, there is a lack of communication within the office so double check everything (Time, Date, Location of lessons)!! There would be constant mistakes with instructors not showing up on time and the students would not be notified. Overall, Shai makes DDS a great place to learn how to drive!

I was just going to leave a one star rating but after that reply from the company (which is very likely the owner who I spoke to) I feel the need to delve further. There was a misunderstanding with the date of my lesson. I absolutely did show up however, and spoke to the driver who was to teach me. The driver was completely understanding of the mistake and had no problem with rescheduling. The problem came when I called to reschedule. When I called, owner was conpletely rude to me and told me to go elsewhere. I was appalled by the way he spoke to me as I had been nothing but respectful. And am appalled again by this company response.

Took my son to DDS and they were very professional from the start. We went with a 5 lesson driving package that included the 5 hour course and taking my son to his driving test. The Driving instructor was a very nice man who was patient and professional with my son. When I asked him if my son was doing well I always felt that he told me the truth and wasn't BS'ing me because they knew I was more than willing to pay for more lessons. To make a long story short I would recommend this driving school. My son passed his test on the first try!!!!

Yeah like one of the users below me said, AVOID this place at ALL COST. The actual instructor is very rude, impatient and unprofessional. Those three are not good for a driving instructor. I also felt I did not learn anything from David. But when I went to another driving school; Dana's I felt I learned something. Again avoid at all cost. You will be wasting your money. Dana while $10 more is more worth it if you live in the Rockland county area.

WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! I had Baila for an instructor, she was fantastic! After literally one lesson I was all ready for the test, she was so clear about everything and very patient as well! I had 6 lessons with 4 instructors. Darla, maria, aaron and jack. and I took 5 hour pre licensing course with yosef he was great! But to be honest with you, aaron was the worst. I took double lesson for one and half hour. He was not on time and finished lesson early. he came 10min late and chatted with staff at the office ( i was waiting for him at the office) and finished 15 min early!!!! where is my 30 min!!! He was kept watching his phone when I was driving for an hour! I didn't learn anything from him. He was kept saying "you gonna fail" over and over OMG...I felt like he didn't have willing to teach. He kept yawing and watching his phone. I was scared there would be an car accident. he was kept hitting break too often instead of teaching me. that was really bothering me as well. He was discouraged me and made me very nervous.. he was very rude.. I felt really bad.. bad experience ever.. but fortunately Jack was really good! He was great instructor ever I met! He was very patient he taught me how to drive very well step by step. he was encouraged me every moment when I was nervous. you have to really be careful when you choose instructor, It would be a waste of your time and money if you drive with wrong instructor! I should have taken his lesson earlier.. thank you jack! I really appreciate it!

The people operating this school were unprofessional and rude. The driving instructor who taught me was David himself, but it seemed like he didn't care whether you learnt anything or actually passed the driving test. He was more interested in taking the customer's money and giving a couple of half-baked driving lessons. Avoid this place at all costs.

Darla is a fantastic driving instructor. Her 5 hour class although done virtually, was informative interactive and just as all encompassing as the in person 5 hour classes we are used to. Training with her she would iron out all of your kinks and get you to a place where not only are you ready to take the driving exam and pass she’ll make you a better and safer driver on the road overall. I had a great experience with David's Driving School. I failed my road test twice and people recommended Tom at David's, so I signed up for a lesson. After just three lessons, I passed my road test. On my first two tests I got lots of points (something absurd like 90) and on my third I got only 20. I'm also a safer, smoother driver now.

I just passed my first road test today. If it wasn't for the 7 lessons i took in this school especially with my driving instructor Tom, i wouldn't have passed. The lessons taught me certain tricks that my peers wouldn't know. Tom was always reassuring to me and always gave me review of the certain things i needed to work on after each lesson. Taking these lessons from Davids driving school has helped me feel confident when arriving on the test site. Tom even went with me to the site. The staff was very helpful in setting up appointments and lessons for me, and making sure i had everything that i needed for the road test. They are very friendly people. If you are looking for a driving school in Rockland County, go to Davids Driving School, and specifically ask for Tom, one of the driving instructors. I have done my research when picking out a driving school, and i am glad that i picked this one.

I can't even begin to express how impressed I am with this driving school. We heard about them from my daughters friend who also had a good experience. The cars we used were newer models and immaculate in and out. We took 5 lessons with two of their instructors (Jack and Yaakov) both excellent. They don't just "teach to the test", but also teach driving skills that will keep your family safe. Their knowledge of the process in the county is remarkable. (the road test in this county can be tough) After each lesson, the instructors took the time to explain to me what my child needed to practice and focus on Their flexibility and availability was key for us and proved invaluable. We got a phone call after the road test checking in (that in my opinion is great over the top service) Needless to say, my daughter passed with a perfect score on the road test. A big thank you to David Driving School for getting us prepared for this stressful life event.
