I and my wife were looking for a good Driving School in Fredericton. We’re advised for First Rate Driver School and honestly speaking it was definitely the rightest choice. Each Saturday class, we’ve attended, was held in an atmosphere of fun and humor. We were so excited to participate in discussions and express our own thoughts and opinions about various issues and tasks. Classes conducted in such an atmosphere helped us to quickly and easily learn the course material and pass theory test without any problems. Driving Lessons were the most excited part of the whole course. FRD has the most experienced instructional team, and this is undoubtedly true – it is not just the words. During 11 hours in-car practice, driving Instructor taught us to observe and understand the situations you find yourself in on the road, and how to react competently and appropriately. He told us exactly what the examiner will be looking out for while driving exam, what our strengths and weaknesses are. One of the biggest advantages I liked the most is that on the day of my road test, instructor picked me up at the agreed time, around 2 hours before the test, that gave me the chance to ‘warm up’ and feel myself completely ready for the road rest. FRD taught us fully understand the road and its potential dangers on practice. If you really want to learn to drive safe and carefully choose First Rate Driver! I'm gonna be honest after hitting 16 I was beyond determined to start driving as soon as possible. Little did I know it was a lot more than I had originally thought. Luckily Sean at First Rate Driver was able to teach me a lot more about driving then I could have learned on my own, it was a fun little thing to look forward to after a long stressful day of Grade 11 schoolwork. My Favorite instructor that I had was Pierre I'm not gonna lie. at first I was kind of scared of him. lol. But shortly after it felt like I had made a friend! Sean is great with communication and he's serious when he needs to be. However he is an all around funny guy. I highly recommend if you're going to take driver ed Take it with First Rate Driver! They Have Honda Civics too! fun car to drive :)

First rate driver by far is the best driving school around. My inclass portion with Sean was amazing. He helped me understand the rules and way of the road. He always was very helpful if I had any questions. My driving instructor Joel was beyond awesome. He helped me feel confident and comfortable behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. He showed me how to properly drive, lane change, paralel park and more!. Before my driving test today I did some practice and Joel helped me stay calm and not be nervous. He reminded how awesome I've been doing and told me it will be great!. Joel was right I passed my first try and am now a licensed driver for the road of NewBrunswick. If anyone is about to do there driving hours or are talking about it I 100 percent recommend Joel. If it wasn't for Joel's help with learning how to drive properly I would not of been able to be successful. Thank you first rate for the amazing experience and thank you Joel!. 10/10 driving school.

This is the best driving institute available in Fredericton. I was a new driver who never touched a vehicle before driving in training session and fortunately was able to get my Driving License in my first attempt after completing 10 hrs. of training. All credit goes to my instructor Jeff Hafford who teaches me useful techniques from the basics and pointed out my mistake so I didn't repeat same mistakes. Also the classroom session with Sean was really informative and set the base for my driving. His way of teaching makes you to be attentive all the time and interacting with him during class was always fun.

My in-class teacher, Mr. Sean Daly, was very knowledgeable and courteous in answering my inquiries, pinpointed problematic areas and patiently took time to explain everything in a way i could understand and relate to driving situations. While my in-car driving instructor, Mr. Jeff Hafford, was particularly very calm in helping me deal with my anxieties when I stopped driving for 10 yrs after moving from another country. He was very spontaneous and knows when to give me a bit of a push to help build my confidence to drive again. He helped me become more relaxed and he genuinely just wants me to learn, pass my driving course, my road test, and become a better driver.

Had a great experience with first rate driver! I did my in-class lessons in January and due to Covid, they were all online. Despite the circumstances Sean was a great teacher and made the online portion stress free. He made sure everybody's questions were answered, that we felt comfortable with our understanding of the subject matter, and was very kind and patient with all of us. For the driving portion of the class, I had Jens as an instructor. He was a great teacher and very easy to get along with. I had only driven a handful of times prior to my lessons and he made me feel very comfortable in the vehicle whilst giving helpful tips and constructive criticism. I didn't pass my test on the first try due to a couple small errors but I did pass on my second after some extra lessons at no extra cost. I am very relieved to have finally gotten my full license and am greatly satisfied with all I have learned from the great people at FRD! I very highly recommend choosing them!

They give you very detailed answers to the questions asked during the classroom sessions. The in-car sessions are really helpful and improve your driving a lot. I just passed my road test today and I wanted to give a shout out to Megan and Shawn. Shawn is an amazing classroom teacher and quite funny and fair. He made going to class every Saturday interesting and without him, I wouldn't know any of the rules of driving. Megan is an amazing instructor to go driving around with for your driving hours. She's kind, but sarcastic at the same time which I appreciated because it was my exact kind of humor. After I was done my driving hours, i told her that I wasn't ready yet, so she offered to take me out driving a few more times free of charge which I really appreciated. Thank you First Rate Driver.

Sean is a good in-class teacher. His in-class sessions were engaging, interesting and meaningful. Coming back to his in-car session, they were awful. Felt more like a third degree torture. He can bring your confidence to negative scale and make you believe that you cannot drive. I don’t know if it happened only to me (who had terrible in-car sessions with him) or there have been others who have experienced the same. He expects students to drive like a pro right from day 1. He doesn’t understand that student has enrolled in the driving school to learn driving (as per rules) and student is bound to make mistakes. That is where the role of teacher coming in. How good is he in teaching the right way? He fails miserably here. 5 star for his in-class teaching and negative or zero star for his in-car session. At one point, I started contemplating going to other schools. That’s when I was assigned Pierre as my in-car instructor. He is an outstanding instructor. Just the kind of guy any student would need. I had great in-car sessions with him. Learn amazing amount of details about car driving and things I should know to clear my road test. I cleared my test at Fredericton center in first attempt, all because of Pierre. You know what, the examiner at the end of the road test said, “You were really good”. That’s how much Pierre got me prepared. 5 star to Pierre.

Fredericton is a city with limited public transit, which make driving necessary. Considering graduates can have insurance discount upon passing the road test, the course will paid for itself in about two years. The owner, Sean Daly is very professional and experienced. The classroom training covered not only materials for passing the written/road test, but also important driving skills that can be used life long. I was a graduate of the full course and the $631 course fee was well worth it.

Joshua is an absolutely wonderful driving instructor! He made my daughter feel super comfortable and she improved her driving immensely with his help (along with Meg for her extra parallel parking tips) Thank you both! The classroom training was very informative with excellent instruction. However, due to a lack of driving instructors available at the time, my daughter had to wait over 2 months before being able to practise all that great information she learned. I understand that the long delay was due to unfortunate timing and more instructors have since been hired. Therefore, this should not be a hinderance for anyone else. Despite that, my newly licensed daughter is a much more confident and competent driver and we would definitely recommend First-Rate.

That was one of my worst experience with this school I had in whole of my life. the instructor used to yell at me, insult me in any way he could, tease me and mock me. if you care about your money and time, reconsider on your decision about First Rate driver. I even didn't finish my classes with them, I didn't learn anything but insulting and teasing. NEVER EVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYBODY.

I just passed my road test today. I must say First rate driving school is an excellent training institution. right from the experience in class with Sean to the road practice with instructors. My profound appreciation to Meagan, my road practice instructor. I only went out on the road about 3 times with her before I had my road test and my confidence, and knowledge base on the road not to mention safety consciousness, grew exponentially. If you enrol with these guys, if its possible you wanna insist Meagan as your instructor. am sure they have other great instructors as well but from my experience she is the standard for an excellent tutor. Its not just about passing the actual road test because I could do same test and a different scenario on the road would have failed me, but Its the quality of her training, patience and how Meagan makes you comfortable on the wheels before the actual test that makes her exceptional. Also much appreciation to Sean who is the in class trainer. I must say teaching isn't about having knowledge but also being able to pass that knowledge adequately and Sean is the best at it. keep up the good work Meagan and Sean... it was a rewarding experience enrolling with First rate.

With my driving instructor I learnt about 20 to 30 times more about American and Canadian politics then driving....I would just perhaps rather learn about driving so i can pass my test, then getting told about one’s political opinions. I called into get information. I was given GROSSLY MIS - INFORMATION!!! So, I was told that if a person whom is not licensed gets a ticket/fine that they lose points. Like SERIOUSLY how can you lose something that you do not even have? Then the woman then proceeded to tell me that this person in question could do in class work HOWEVER would have to wait at least two, yes I said 2 full years to be able to then do the drivers pirtion. And since they start with "negative" points they will NOT QUALIFY nor RECIEVE a reduction in the overall cost of insurance. I was awestruck. Upon calling Public Safety I was informed that the so called knowledgeable instructor was in fact not so knowledgeable as it was ALL UNTRUE. Thank goodness gor misinformation in this case. We know for sure we qill be using a driver's education course just NOT this one. I just feel if qd we're given this much wro g information and have not even booked than how mad would ir really be workk g with them? Also $631 seems a little steep to me. Other companies offer a much better value. Good luck to all who do choose to go with this company.

For this review, I will give a thorough description of my experience with 'First Rate Driver' and why you should not give them any money. The in-class portion was fine. Nothing extraordinary, nothing terrible. Sean did a decent job instructing, although I did find it hard to enjoy or speak out in the class due to my introverted nature. I was able to pass the in-class final exam and the government-issued exam on my first try. The in-class lessons were fine, I had no issues with those. The driving lessons were when things went from okay to god-awful. My lessons did not even begin until around a year after I finished my in-class lessons despite several phone calls from myself and my parents. When they finally did begin, the lessons were much lower quality than I had anticipated. Dean was a dreadful instructor. I am unsure if this was his intention or not, but he always made me feel afraid of making mistakes, which was terrible for learning to drive, a time when I am bound to make mistakes. Whenever he corrected my mistakes, he always felt hostile and aggressive for no particular reason. I never gave him any reason to treat me as such, and yet he still did. For this reason I became timid during my lessons and the fear of making mistakes led to me making more mistakes. This experience was miserable overall, but it still did not end there. One day, I had to reschedule one of my lessons due to a scheduling conflict with my new (at the time) job. I texted Dean to arrange this, and he presented me with an alternate date and time. When that day arrived, he did not arrive at my house as he had before for my previous lessons, and never texted me again. First Rate Driver simply ceased my lessons with seemingly no explanation as to why. When my parents inquired, they simply stated that I was having difficulties with my instructor. Instead of finding me a new instructor or arranging an alternate way for me to receive my lessons, they just ended them completely. To this day, I still only have my beginners because of this. I would likely already have my full license by now if my lessons had continued as normal. I am completely infuriated by this fact, as me not being able to drive by myself has caused difficulty for me and my parents with regards to transport to and from our jobs. I fully blame First Rate Driver for this. I would give First Rate Driver zero stars if I could. My experience with them was nothing short of horrendous. They are extremely unprofessional, lazy, and arrogant. I cannot recommend giving them the 630 dollars that their course costs, since they will likely just take your money and ghost you.

I highly recommend this company for obtaining your drivers licence regardless of age. The in-class lessons with Sean were engaging and interesting. He made sure that you were well prepared for the final exam for the course and prepared for your written to obtain your permit. Being older getting my license I had huge anxiety about getting behind the wheel during my driving lessons. But between Sean and Jeff they made sure I was comfortable but most importantly confident while on the road. They went above and beyond for me by making sure I was well prepared for my road test even giving me extra lessons at no cost. Because of Sean and Jeff I passed my road test on my first try and am confident driving my children wherever we need to go. I never review products or services, but this time, I just had to! As someone who really struggled with finding a vehicle to practice in outside of my sessions with the instructor, I'm super grateful for the genuine effort everyone put in to not only ensure that I received enough practice and would be ready for my road test, but that I'd be a sound and confident driver on the road!! Both in-class trainings and in-car sessions are awesome. I do appreciate Sean for being so helpful and passionate. On my road test day, he took me on the road two and a half hours before the test so that I can review everything and overcome my stress. Amazing experience from classes to in-car training very smooth, highly helpful and recommended. The class environment was kept very positive by Sir Sean I personally enjoyed the way he taught. The class was highly productive and not boring at the same time. I am so grateful that I had attended First Rate Driver, an incredible driving school for its quality and professionalism. Sean did a fantastic job at covering all the concepts of safe driving with clarity and detail during the classroom training. His sessions were engaging because they went beyond simply teaching us the rules of the road and safe driving habits; he taught us insights that he has gained from his own driving experience. The classroom training really helped building and solidifying my knowledge on driving and helped me pass my first written test with a perfect mark. I received my on-road training from Meghan, another excellent instructor whose lessons were of top professionalism and quality. I deeply appreciated her calmness and patience over my slow learning in the first few lessons; in fact, never once did I feel overwhelmed or discouraged with her. Meghan was very knowledgeable and amazing at explaining driving/road rules that I once struggled to understand. I passed my first road test this previous Monday thanks to her help, though I am also aware that her lessons exceeded the purpose of helping me pass the test; they taught me how to drive mindfully. Over the course of the last year and a half, we as a society and myself personally, have experienced many hardships. No local business was left unaffected, and that includes First Rate Driver. They responded to the COVID pandemic quickly and with ingenuity. Despite every setback, Sean worked tirelessly to ensure that I was prepared for my road test. I had my permit going in, and yet I still learned so much from the in-class lessons. They were engaging, thought-provoking and highly pragmatic, for adults and teenagers alike. Sean balances humor, seriousness and inquiry to keep you on your toes; making the learning experience not only unique, but memorable. I was fortunate enough to have Sean himself take over my driving lessons; and I couldn't be more grateful, nor more satisfied by the a) level of professionalism Sean provided, b) the excellent, swift and concise communication, c) the practical feedback applied to my own personal driving style, and finally, his positive and reassuring attitude. I contacted first rate due to personal reasons and I really just wanted to do my road test once. I got the pleasure of meeting Karen and she made sure to help me through the steps of the road test. Everytime I entered her car I felt like she was an examiner. She was extremely patient with me and for that I’ll always be grateful.
