The only Drivers license office which can make a road test in Victoria. The roads nearby are tricky and need drive carefully, strongly recommend to practice driving at least two or three times nearby before booking a test.Good luck !

Unprofessional and rude people. I have been to this place 3-4 times and sorry to say every time I had the same experience. I have met 5 employees in total out of them I found only one made me feel welcomed and not discriminated. I moved from another province and I feel the registry offices over there were a professional place. I miss backhome every time I visit this ICBC.

I had my class 5 drivers test today and I'm so glad Hannah was my instructor. She was so calm and it just felt like I was driving around with a friend. She was very clear at giving directions making it even more easier and comfortable driving. I passed my test on the 1st attempt. ICBC should have supervisors like her. She is the best

I booked a test at this location to obtain my Class 5 license. My test was on last day and I reached ICBC 15 mins earlier, submitted my appointment and the front desk lady officer finished things very quickly and asked me to waited outside in the car. Despite going into it nervous, my examiner Navjot (NS) was really great and professional. Very clear instructions. As I was driving we had some conversation and his overall calmness helped me get in a good headspace and to get full confidence on my road test. At the end of the test, he has given a very good feedback on my driving. ICBC needs examiners like NS who is knowledgeable, professional and kind. I am so happy to have a full license and to be taking the next steps in life. Big thank you to Navjot!

The computers crashed this morning which made it a little more difficult for the lineups, however there was a person going around letting people know what happened which was really nice and appreciated. I would suggest having some more signage near the back and just more clear for lineups it wasn't till I got to the entrance of the door where I saw the blue tape for no appointment, the green tape for appointment, the red and orange tape for the road test. just more signage I would think would be a little more helpful for everybody cuz a lot of people were confused.. Once inside it's chaotic for everybody but the way I see it is you just do your best. If you treat people with respect they will hopefully treat you back respect. He was relatively fast and easy once I got up to the till with the person helping. And I definitely would say it's worth coming here.

Moved from Saskatoon to switch to BC license today. I thought it was very strange to book an appointment and have a reminder e-mail ask me to arrive 10 minutes early, then stand in a line for around half an hour.. Obviously something went a little wrong today, but the staff were really helpful and friendly. Because I don't know the reason behind the delay, I can't say who's at fault or that anyone wasn't doing their best to handle the situation.

Girlfriend was hit by someone who did not shoulder check and had her car totalled. ICBC somehow ruled it as a 50/50 and has left us without a car or any options, short of offering us a quarter of the car's actual price. For future reference, I like to be wine and dined before I get f&%*ed, ICBC.

I accept that I may have failed my first attempt. But I feel as though, Cindy, was rude and overly critical, and did not offer any advice on how to improve on what she didn't like. I made 5 attempts to express concern about wearing a covid mask and corrective lenses, as the lenses were fogging and my vision was obstructed. She offered no helpful solution. She claims that I ran a red light, but in a busy construction zone and behind a 5tonne truck, was unable to see the light until i was well passed the stop line and continued through. My car is old and the speedometer is a dial, she claims that I was speeding in a park zone but the dial was sitting on 30km/hr from my position. Her vision and assessment of my driving speeds were from the passenger seat and incorrect. She also made claim that I drove 70km which I know I didn't not. I was driving 60km/hr in an area that I did not see the speed limit posted. She claims I need to work on my hazard perception but did not elaborate on what I missed or what to look

Pretty relaxed office, though professional. Friendly, patient staff all around. Had a road test to perform and they made me feel comfortable, considering. I had an embarrassing, tumultuous experience on the road that day, but Paul and Megan kept me together and I finished the test. Went in today to renew my license & pay a penalty premium. I didn’t catch the ladies name that helped me but honestly she was amazing (she was working in the appointment area today at the 2nd desk from the reception one). As soon as she saw that I had not been driving since October she went out of her way to call the head office accounting department to see if I could get my fine reduced due to not driving for a certain period of time. We were on hold for 20 or more minutes & she remained nothing but patient & friendly. I honestly felt so bad to be wasting her time but she remained calm & professional. Just wanna say a big thank you to this lady because she honestly helped so much as I was unable to call on my own as I am working the same hours that ICBC runs business.

I've seen this same review allready, but... dont come to this icbc for your road test if you're not familiar with this area of victoria. The icbc is sandwiched between a few schools, I was speeding on my way for my road test and failed my test because the instructor "saw me speeding while testing someone else" before I even got there.

I just moved here from the District of Columbia and dreaded going to the ICBC because of all of your reviews. My objective was to get a reciprocal driver's license. I stood on line for a short time to see the receptionist to get a number. She asked me WHERE Washington, DC was and had a map. I showed her and she thought so, but wanted to make sure so she could give me to the correct person. I sat down. I was called 15 minutes later and go a wonderful lady who complimented my current license picture, and had to ask her Supervisor to look up our reciprocity. Wholla! We did, but I didn't have the correct paperwork. I needed a copy of my DC Driving Record, and was able to go back the next day because I had it at home. Great service. Detailed oriented and the staff are wonderful. They were jealous that in DC we can smile with our pictures. Cheers.

Went in for a road test around 1230 on a Thursday. The receptionist was efficient and personable. She quickly processed me and then I waited for about 10min to meet my instructor. Andrew and I went for a brief 30min drive, while chatting to each other about life. He shared a lot of wisdom and insight about what happiness is and how a community plays a strong role in that. All in all, the two employees I conversed with made me feel welcome and I'm happy to have met them.

Only in Victoria would they cancel the road tests because the roads are bare and there is snow on the sides. No phone call, or email, or posting on the website about the cancellations today. Disappointing. I got your response. To be clear, you phoned to reschedule a couple of hours after our scheduled time. So we still had to borrow a vehicle and go down there to find out we could not do the test. Why didn't you notify us ahead of time?

Long post alert.This is one of the worst places to go and do a road test for people of colour according to how I was treated and talked to. First my Examiner ( I don't remember her name) but her initials were Mv she was so mean to me that she was ticking everything she could on the sheet just to make sure I get too much demirit points. I have no problem to be given demirit points on the mistakes I make but it really hurts when ur sure u did the right things someone says u did not do it just because they dont like. I live in the mainland and drove all the way there taking the ferry in between and had to wake up early at around 5 am while my exam was at 3pm so that I have enough time, but unfortunately my time and money was wasted by someone who does not have a normal human being heart. So after the exam I had to go to the office to complain to the supervisor (Don Wirachwsky) but I ended up getting his card instead coz he was not there, which I called him the next day not that he can do much but to let him know what I felt . To cap it all the lady at door treated me badly and even had the audacity to tell me that I am not welcome at that place and should do the exam at the mainland. With that I had nothing more to add I just left sad and discouraged about humanity. Thanks for reading my long post .

Very suspicious behavior, I've never heard of an examiner having to go into the back room to "do the math" with the same supervisor who screamed at me across the room for having medical disability that prevents me from wearing a mask. ICBC is the worst insurance company. If there were other choices I would not go with ICBC. My spouse was in an accident that was 100% not his fault and we have been waititng 3 months to get the papers just to go back to the truck and get the claim dollars. Called several times and have blown us off and told us there is nothing they can do and that the papers are in the mail.....a month later still nothing. And nothing you can do! Your the flipping insurance company!!! Absolutely useless. Watch yourself with ICBC cause they don't care about you.

Excellent, I don't t normally enjoy the ICBC experience but today was a whole new ball game. Went in as per my appointment time, was seen within 2 minutes. Very helpful lady who answered my questions and processed my renewal quickly. She even printed my (clean) driver record too.

This place is a prime example of an inefficient, awkward, government business wrapped in red tape. In two visits in a week the reception desks told us the wrong information twice and made us waste hours from our days. The customer service from the first point of contact (both times) was horrendous. Both times we came at non peak times and there were lineups to the door. They had at least 6 (half) of their wickets unattended and the wait times were an hour+ each time. For a government funded, mandatory institution for BC that forcibly makes millions each year from residents, it is disgusting they are allowed to operate at this standard.

Really great service! I made an appointment online and when I arrived the check in was quick. I was given a number and received service a couple of minutes later. Renewed my driver's license and was out the door about 5 minutes after I arrived. Very friendly, professional and efficient staff!

Honestly, I was dreading coming here after reading the awful reviews from this place but I had the most fantastic experience. I came prepared, with all of the paperwork I may have needed and honestly everyone was great. I was really anxious about going to this location due to it being super poorly rated. I had a ticket that I needed to pay and it was causing me a lot of stress. When I got there the lady at front desk helped me out. She wasn't unpleasant but she definitely wasn't pleasant. To me it seemed like she was on a mission, just trying to get through the day. Yes, the line was huge but the wait wasn't that bad. I was sitting for about 15 minutes before I got called up. The girl that helped me was amazing! super calming person and made me feel a little more at ease. The corporation of ICBC is definitely something I don't like to support... but this location isn't terrible. I'm really thankful to the lovely girl that helped me with my ticket!

My one critique would be , I was warned to make an appointment , so I did. Douchey hipster showed up without appointment, lined up in "green" appointment line and when I finally made it in the building 12 minutes after my appointment , he was having his picture taken . ICBC handles British Columbias the only vehicle registry, insurance and licensing organisation. This office function is mainly for driver licensing related work for Nanaimo Region. Well organized with neat loby/waiting area. There is one unisex washroom in the facility, key must be obtained from reception. Plenty of parking available, but watch for dedicated test drive parking area. Please do not park in these slots. Driving road test is only through appointments. However you can go check if any cancellation, you might get lucky. This office do not entertain registry or insurance work.

I just had a terrible experience at this location. The person who served me was rude and unplesant. She visibly disliked her job. When I think about it, in retrospect, I can't blame her. Perferming menial tasks over and over and over again. She was relunctantly wearing scars of despair. Her lack of enthousiam was so embedded in her physical movements and behaviors, that for a moment, I feared that she would turn to dust to then be swept away by the light breeze making its way in through the open door. Her eyes deep and dazed with disatisfaction and resentment for me and I think herself as well. I hope that this lady finds light in her life and rediscovers what it means be happy. i was going to book a road test during spring break, apparently it can only be booked via phond on webpage wich is ridiculous, all they can do is basically take money. phoned the number they gave about 6 times, no respond, just keep ringing and nothing happens went to the website, apparently the only available time in 2 month later. is there really 0 people available to have their 45 min taken?is spring break not the best for learns(who are mostly student) to take their test? should that not be considered at all? im shocked as how inefficient and selfish this system is, i have to drive all the way to Alberta to catch a road test because my legal guardian will be leaving in april and i wouldn't be able to drive without a supervisor, so thanks.

ICBC is a giant scam, right in the contract with the Province of BC it states in black and white that if ICBC does not make %100 more REVENUE then the previous year, the province and Drivers have to make up the difference. They stated this year they had a 1.6 billion $ loss which is a straight up criminal lie, in reality they are 1.6 billion short of that %100 more revenue then the previous year but they still made billions in revenue, here is an example. ICBC lets say made 2.6 billion $ last year, this year they have to make 5.2 billion $ (%100 more revenue then previous year) now subtract the 5.2 with the loss they claim 1.6 and you get 4.4 Billion $ in REVENUE not Loss. But because they did not make 5.2 billion $ the province and "drivers" have to make up the difference, hence rates increase. don't believe me just look up the contract yourself as its public information.

Would only use if there was no other option... oh. Edit: -Still stand by the fact that BC requires options for their insurance and that monopolies are bad for the customer. However, in my continued years of working with ICBC and this office I have had both very poor customer service where the employees are embittered and unwilling to help in any way, but also very efficient and kind employees who made my experience very good. Brenda was super nasty. I said several times in the beginning of our conversation that I had recently moved and needed to update my address, and that I n the process of moving, I also lost my wallet and needed to replace my cards. She asked if I needed to replace my cards (after hearing this twice) and when I said again “I also moved recently and need to update my address” she was extremely snarky about how “I needed to do that within 10 days of moving”. Clearly, this is what I am attempting to do here. She then asked if I was still living at my old address. Totally ridiculous interaction.

Terrible service, got there at 1500 and waited until 1525 to talk with yet another useless ICBC employee who knows nothing but how to take your photo and money. When having to troubleshoot a problem with paying a fine they went to their manager who simply said we don't do this here anymore as of a couple months ago, call the courthouse and pay there. I had an outstanding ticket to pay of $100 and I needed to settle this before I was able to renew my license. So I was given a number and called at 1535 to be told that that department goes home at 1530 and it couldn't be processed today. It says the office is open until 1600! If this isn't true then don't advertise those hours, no!? All in all, it was a super frustrating experience and one that yet again proves decent customer service is dead here and this system needs a total overhaul. ICBC is a joke and we need more competition to drive these lazy, entitled, unhelpful people out. People have to work hard to afford things, so why are they subjected to this kind of poor service and work ethic? It's disgusting in this apparently technologically advanced and automated world with something that should be so simple.

The staff do not wear masks. The shields of plexiglass are narrow and have a huge gap before the next one. As a nurse, I can tell you that their breath is traveling well past those narrow shields, and they're exposing all public to their pathogens. They also speak rudely, and do not take any effort in giving clear directions to those navigating their office. I booked a test at this location to obtain my Class 5 license. My test was today and I arrived 25 minutes early due to COVID causing lineups but they had a system for filtering knowledge test vs road test which was effective and moved things along quickly. Despite going into it nervous, my instructor Andrew was really great. As I was driving we had some conversation and his overall calmness helped me get in a good headspace. I am so happy to have a full license and to be taking the next steps in life. Big thank you to Andrew!

Truly amazing to watch front staff bluntly ignore customers. Waiting for 5 min at the front of the line while customer service rep causally chatted with another employee totally ignoring a line of customers. Then waited for almost two hours just to get my license renewed ... half of the computers are empty... rep I got was very unpleasant, rude. Very disappointed with road test examiner(Kyla KA) (not because i got failed ) but i think in general she is a rude person .Not at all friendly. She started the pretrip inspection & told me to do the high beam ,which i turned on but the examiner(Kyla KA)came to see how i turned on the high beam.Actually all cars have different different functions.But she interrupted me to not to do the high beam the way i did ,instead other way.Even my husband was outside looking me doing all the pre trip inspections &he said i never saw any exminer who interrupt the person like that.At the same time other person in the other parking lot was doing the same pre trip inspections& i saw examiner just told him to do this & that from outside of the car only . I 'm posting these reviews to let them know that the person who is coming for the test is already nervous,and by this kind of behavior you are making them more nervous. Even in the test report she mentioned high beam/ low beam.where as i did that part.At one point of the test the road was just turning left& right she didn't told me where we are going, ?i asked her stopping at stop sign that where we are going.Is it ok for examiner?

the problem is the receptionists: incompetent, brainless and lack will to actually make customer happy. they only perform limited number of tasks like a robot with no flexibility whatsoever. Moreover, one miss phrase of your word could confuse them massively, it's like you need a specific input to make them act. the questions on the learner test are mostly useless. it's true that there are some practical ones like signs, but mainly it seems that they are just trying to get the job done.

I spoke to a woman in Licensing and ID yesterday who was SO RUDE, I couldn't believe it! I asked a simple question about getting some "N" stickers and she was totally unhelpful, demeaning, and miserable. Perhaps she was having a "bad day", but seriously, one would never get away with that in the business world. Lately when I've dealt with ICBC, they simply do not appear to care about their customers. Pathetic :(

The staff at this location are really hit and miss. In the last two days, I went to get some information and saw the same person twice.. each time they gave different information! If they are not knowledgeable, they should ask someone else! I don't think I'll be visiting this branch in the future. Only the lady at Reception was good.

Takes zero responsibility for mistakes they made. I have now been waiting over 7 weeks to get my ID and all they basically say is "too bad". They offered no compensation for the mistakes they made like getting my ID expressed shipped. Last time I went in they told me it would be in in 10 days and here I am over two weeks later now being told it may take 45 days. I wish they took some consideration in realizing how difficult it is for a person to do things without any photo ID.

First of all, i passed. Huge relief. The branch wasn't busy at all. All the things got wrapped up in no time. The test was nearly 30 minutes. She told me a couple of mistakes that i made and still passed me and thats really appreciated. The route is such that when you go through the first signal, there is a school sign just behind the signal which most people don't see. So take care about it and good luck.

Had an appointment and they were serving people who had appointments booked for an hour after mine. The manager said “we have a system” no they don’t, it’s still business as usual line up first come first served. Don’t bother booking an appointment here it doesn’t make any difference.

If you're worried about social distancing, go to the smaller, Wharf St. location. There were a lot more people in this office than I expected (based on phone conversation with ICBC staff). Service was quick and friendly.

I went to make a payment on my car insurance. I explained this to the lady at the front, and she told me to take a seat. I waited a half an hour, then the next lady told me I couldn't make the payment there. Apparently the ICBC can't do two things at once out of the same office, and some of their staff aren't aware of it.

Everyone was really pleasant to deal with, and the wait was very short. Covid protocols were in place and everything seemed to run very smoothly in that regard. Observed the main person at the counter being very helpful and patient with a senior woman that needed to cancel her driver's license, and had mobility issues. It was nice to see the compassion ????

The charges are very unreasonable and the queues and signs are extremely confusing. After you paid the exam fee of 15 dollars, you still have to pay 19 dollars for the mailing fee.

A lot of frustrated, negative people leaving low reviews. This location has been great. Passed my class 5 test last week. Booking online was simple with many dates to choose from. If you have a tight schedule then check daily cause people cancel. On time as scheduled, no backlog. My ICBC Examiner was professional, kind and calm which provided a non-stress environment for my test. Thank you Kim! Paperwork was quickly done, no problems. Thanks again for you services.

Making an online appointment is DEFINITELY the way to go. There was still a moderate wait - maybe 10 minutes but far better than standing in the "other" lineup. Booking the appointment was easy as well.

My daughter came on to sit the learners test. The first time she came in her birth certificate was faded and was unable to read the numbers on it. The first woman was very helpful. When coming back 30 mins later, we had another female staff who took her details. But when she asked for my ID card, it was like she was completely discusted that i live in a different province as my daughter and made me feel like a criminal! Way to cut a Dad down on his daughters 16th birthday!
