I had the pleasure of Mr. Mal Dillon teach me 3 lessons! Passed with him after trying two other driving schools - Mal is patient, organized, and kind. He respects you and your desire to drive - therefore he builds up your confidence not only to pass but to become a better and safer driver! Thank you Mal! I finally got my full license the other day, and if you know me you know how anxious I am! I swore I would never be a good driver nor did I have any confidence driving with anyone. Well I got some lessons as a gift for my birthday for confidence driving school! I personal worked with Harold! He was great, very critical (in a good way!) and professional. I like to talk a lot while driving it helps with my nerves and when he would see I was getting too anxious he would tell me a joke or make me laugh which was very awesome! It took me 5 years to actually go and get it but I'm super happy I got lessons with Confidence Driving School! I highly recommend them! Thanks again!

I would highly recommend A Confidence Driving School as Harold, is an amazing instructor. He gives criticisms when needed and is very professional. I had been struggling with getting my full license for quite some time as I had always had a fear of getting behind the wheel due to the fact that I had gotten into a few accident scares. I had taken lessons with a few instructors before but none of them helped, until I had found A CONFIDENCE DRIVING SCHOOL. Harold is patient, kind and he took the time to understand my situation as well as helped me understand the mistakes I had made to prevent me from doing them again in the future. Harold is a master at what he does. He takes pride in and truly cares about every student he takes on. He pushes when you need to be pushed, and is also kind and understanding when you need time to process. He helped me overcome 10 years of fear in a few months. Something I convinced myself was not possible. Finally, he went above and beyond and gave me a lesson off the clock directly before the road test, and waited to hear the results as well! It also must be noted that as I am disabled and have hand controls, he also went out of his way to get a permit in order to drive with me in my outfitted car. Very literally could not have done it without him and for that I am eternally grateful!!

My experience with A Confidence Driving School was excellent! I avoided driving for roughly two years, however after only one month of lessons with Harold, I managed to pass the road test on my first try! Harold taught me various skills that i will need to drive successfully for the rest of my life. I highly recommend this driving school to everyone!

Unfortunately I do not recommend Harold as a driving instructor. I found him to be quite condescending with his comments and his brash approach often made me much more anxious about driving. I have since learned with another driving school in which I have progressed MUCH faster and much more confidently. Harold also uses way too many unhelpful analogies which i can see would be a struggle for people to understand, especially if their first language is not english. He also made an offhand comment along the lines of 'he analyzes people psychologically for a living yet he is paid less than a psychologist'..what? How can he compare what he does to an actual psychologist?! Quite big of him to think they are comparable. He comes across as a know-it-all. I realize he has tons of experience teaching driving so he definitely is an expert on it, he just does not need to come across that high and mighty. He always says the student must listen to what he instructs without question, yet he will refuse to listen to his students if they challenge him even the least bit. He thinks the students are the stubborn ones for not listening to him when in reality he is one of the most stubborn people I have worked with because it's his way or the highway since he knows all. Do not recommend.

From my very first lesson with Harold I knew he was the real deal! I kept up with lessons, learnt a lot and always enjoyed the time doing so. Over time Harold really built up my driving confidence from the negative I had before. I especially appreciated how he would push me when I needed pushing, but would also recognize and understand when I needed time to pause and process. I felt he effectively taught me how to become a good driver and not just someone with a license. I am grateful to have been taught how to drive by such a great man/instructor!

If I could give zero stars I would. First of all my instructor was very creepy and touchy. Second of all they are very unprofessional, they over charge you and pretend not to keep count of payments. I have corresponded with my instructor about my test a month before and told him the date 3 times in total and he cancelled on me telling me the night before that I didn’t give him enough notice.

I had two lessons with Harold, I walked into the first lesson thinking "I got this I just need a little practice" then later realized wow I'm not that good at this. I don't know what it was, maybe it was the military hair cut but he made me very nervous right off the bat. There was many things I did that he pointed out that made me feel like I'm never gonna pass my test. Second lesson came and I was more anxious and nervous than ever because I knew what I was about to step into. His demeanor was stern but still kept it in a friendly way. I've had my beginners for almost 15 years. I finally contacted this place and was amazed at how fast I learnt to parallel park. I took 3 lessons and was able to use the car i was learning in for my road test and passed. Mal was nice, not so serious and made it more relaxing then stressful to learn. Thanks to a confidence driving school, I will now be able to drive our new vehicle and my husband won't have to drive all the time now.

There are SO MANY GREAT THINGS I can say about Harold that I realize it’s better to make a list to ensure I’m not missing anything! 1) When I first called, he was quick at responding on the phone (which wasn’t the case with other driving schools I tried reaching) and, although I had only a week before the test and a tight schedule, he was beyond accommodating to book me in to allow over four hours of practice. 2) As I had previously received instructions from several people (occasionally conflicting), I was coming in feeling like a mess and believing that everything I was doing was wrong. Harold calmed me down, reinstalled confidence, and gave me plenty of support, demonstrating a genuinely caring attitude. He never appeared frustrated with me (although I would get frustrated with myself at times) and would patiently repeat himself when I wasn’t able to get things right away. Moreover, he has a great sense of humour and knows how to create a positive learning environment that is simultaneously effective and fun! 3) Harold didn’t simply help me to pass the test. He gave me very useful tips on how to “drive leisurely” (his expression) enjoying the road and providing comfort to myself and passengers. 4) Despite a very limited time we drove, Harold somehow found the way to get through my mental block and, by adjusting his way of explaining things (which is NOT a common practice among teachers!), he made me improve dramatically. During a very short period of time (literally, two hours!), I could feel the progress myself and it was a fantastic realization! 5) Finally, compared to at least one other place, A Confidence Driving school is more affordable and offers better deals. So you get a higher quality for less. This was an additional bonus for me given I had already spent over $350 on driving lessons elsewhere. Thank you so very much, Harold!!! I wish you many more years of successful teaching and many more grateful students!

He taught me tips and tricks that I didn't learn from taking Drivers ed in school. He was able to answer all my questions and made me feel confident and prepared for my road test. If you're a novice driver or an established driver who needs to update his/her driving skills, I recommend that you choose A Confidence Driving School. The owner, Harold, helped me to update my driving skills. He's very critical because he wants you to change your improper driving habits before taking the road test. He asks you to stop beside the road occasionally to review your performance real-time. To succeed, take all his instructions. He knows what he's talking about. For what it's worth, I personally witenssed another instructor ask him a question about the rules of the road whilst we waited to collect my full license. Even his peers know he's experienced. I strongly recommend A Confidence Driving School.

Harold is a very experienced and amazing Teacher. While other instructors may teach you how to pass a driving test, Harold actually takes the time and effort to teach you how to drive and good driving etiquettes. He has a great sense of humor and is very flexible and understanding of your situation. I looooove Gwen! I just passed my test last weekend - one take! She instilled a lot of confidence in me and when I panic she calms me down and makes me focus. I had a previous instructor before and after 6 lessons my confidence level on the road actually went down. Gwen was so attentive and really highlighted the areas where I need improvement. She also collaborated with my husband who practices me and gave him the feedback about my driving. I like her technical knowledge and the way she explains it clearly that helps you connect the dots. It wasn't just about passing the road test with her but to become a safe and good driver. Lastly, I like how positive Gwen is she doesn't let you dwell too much on your mistakes that it makes you even more nervous. I had such a great time learning from her.

When I first started these lessons, I had no idea what to expect. I had a previous driving instructor, but he didnt teach me much, so I didnt know what Harold would be like. But he exceeded all my expectations. He told me habits that I had no idea that I had, and helped me gain a whole new level of confidence in driving. And for me that was huge, I never thought I would ever be a confident driver, but thanks to Harold I am, and I passed my drivers test on my first try! I would highly recommend his classes to anyone planning to take their drivers test!

Originally I had a female instructor, and she was very pleasant. I took about 6 classes with her before taking a 4 month break. When I tried to book a lesson with her again I was informed that since I had moved I was not within her range, and therefore would need to book a different instructor. I was fine with this and ended up with a male instructor. I had booked my test and wanted to practice parallel parking, which I expressed to him on the phone. When it came to the lesson he was incredibly critical of everything from how careful I was to my choice of footwear. I had many of the same experiences as a previous reviewer (Irish). Before we even made it to the place where we were to practice parallel parking he had made me pullover 3 times and was asking me question after question so he could scold me if I answered incorrectly. He also told me I should cancel my driving test the following week, which I ended up easily passing. To say my experience was unpleasant was an understatement, and frankly I am surprised that there aren't more negative reviews. This may be due to the fact the owner directly responds to all reviews, which some could find intimidating. I sincerely hope that the instructor was simply having a bad day, but I would still not recommend this driving school to anyone.

I recommend this driving school to everybody, who has lack of confidence while driving.I took some refreshing driving lessons, because I did not feel quit comfortable driving and also had a bad anxiety. With Gwen my instructor I got rid of it! Gwen tough me how to drive properly, gave a lot of useful tips and what is more she showed me driving is not a nightmare. During lessons the atmosphere was great. Gwen is professional but also she gives you great positive vibes, which is important because you do not need any stress when you drive. I contacted A Confidence Driving School, and they responded to my query immediately. I booked, five road test lessons for my son on very short notice. the Instructor accommodated us with early morning lessons and drove many of the routes used on the road test by examiners. The instructor was excellent, provided great teaching on all aspects of safe handling of the vehicle and prepared my son for the road test better than i could. First of all, i wanna say that im grateful to find this school, it was a life changer in all aspects of my life. Driving is more then sitting behind the wheel, theres a huge psychological component regarding personal fears and reactive struggles that interfere more than all knowledge you get from the books. Harold was my instructor and my companion on this learning and fighting process to get the license. This is the place to go if you wanna absorb skills that will remain through your life. It will be an intense experience but it will be worth. Its even more noticeable to me because i had a license in another country and only after endorsing lessons with Harold i realize how much i needed to learn. Good work to everyone whos trying to get he license and if you choose this school you are in good hands.

Very excellent and efficient driving instruction. I had gone months without frequent driving and had lost my familiarity and comfortability with the road, but I was able to pass my Road Test with almost no issues after only around half a dozen lessons with Harold. Harold was a great instructor. He knows his stuff. Corrected me on all the mistakes I've made. I need to work on emotional skills when driving.. I am just a little disappointed i was only able to work on turnings and nothing else. Was hoping I would at least be able to practice some parallel parking.

I had a great refresher lesson with Harold for my class 4 Road Test. He was very good in correcting my bad driving habits that I had accumulated over the years. Although we never did drive in the area I was going to take my test, he did give me some helpful pointers to watch out for in that particular area. Very helpful!

I have learnt about A Confidence Driving School while searching for the “best driving school in Winnipeg” and was also coincidentally recommended by someone at work because of the cheap pricing. It’s safe to say that I am a “newbie” for I have only practiced driving a car couple of times and admittedly, my confidence wasn’t at its highest. I had my FIRST driving lesson with one of their instructor few days ago, I was actually excited and looking forward to learning more about driving from a professional instructor. He was a pleasant man during our first encounter, polite and straight to the point but as we went along, things took a slight turn, let's just say it wasn't what I was expecting. He was making snide remarks, borderline sarcastic, in away. I know that people have different ways of teaching that usually comes with the type of personality one person has. His ways would include, asking you to pull over every time you did something wrong or if he’d like to make a point. And while the car was halted, he would rattle you with these TRICK QUESTIONS instead of just pointing out your mistakes upfront and give you instructions on how to properly rectify these errors but instead he would insists that you answer the questions, or if you didn’t know the answer to his questions, he would still wait for you to answer and then point out the right answer, as if it was test of some sort. I thought to myself "maybe that's just the way he teaches" but I felt like as if there were NO grey areas. You know how it feels when someone would ask you fishing/indirect questions just to prove that you are wrong? that's how it felt. It was not entirely the questions, for I knew and answered most correctly but it was the way he would ask these questions that made a mark at me. I also think it's a given fact that for a first time driver, you'd be cautious of how you drive and it would also be expected that anxiety will kick in one in a while. I personally didn't like that he kept pointing out that I was overly careful about my surroundings and on my turns, that according to him, only shows how "un-confident or doubtful" I am of my self WHILE I WAS DRIVING. You can imagine how encouraged I felt the whole time.... NO. I felt more anxious and intimidated towards the end, which I knew he noticed when he asked me to pull over and said "I feel that your whole mood has changed from the first time we met", I couldn't say anything as I was dumbfounded by the whole experience. I could not wait for it to be over. Like I said before, there are different techniques of teaching and maybe that is his. And I should say that there are also different facets of perceiving such technique, it may work on others and some may NOT be able to reciprocate in this kind of approach and would take this negatively in such manner. I am a novice driver and I expected to be encouraged so that I can build up my confidence slowly but surely but DON'T DO this by just by telling me verbally, YOU SHOULD BE A CONFIDENT DRIVER. This should be cultivated in a positive environment. This should be built and made felt not told. I know that I still have A LOT to learn but teach me in a way that's inspiring not degrading. I know that I know less of what you know, you are a professional driving instructor for a reason and I, a novice driver but do not judge me easily by taking a swipe at my self-esteem suggesting that I am less than what I am because I made a mistake. Empathize that I am a new driver, therefore I am careful, apprehensive and sensitive. Know that not all people are the same but it is never not agreeable to treat everyone fairly and with high respect.

I failed the road test twice and had almost given up hope. Then luckily I found out about confidence driving school. During the sessions, the instructor was very patient with me and worked hard to improve my driving skills. I finally passed my road test thanks to Confidence Driving School.

I was by far not an easy learner lol.. I am older with little experience on the road. I have serious test anxiety with 2 failed tests before me. I debated taking lessons as I held a class 5 licence for 7 years prior but I can honestly say if I didn't I would not have passed my first try with only 2 errors. He is a no non sense instructor and it may feel he is being very harsh but every bit of criticism is worth its weight in gold ! Everything we went thru was on the test and am still in shock I passed the first time with such little mistakes. Spend the money , Pass the test be a better driver !

Before I took driving lessons, I've previously failed twice and I was losing the motivation to drive. I also began to develop some anxiety towards driving. However, when my best friend told me about Harold, I decided to give him a call. Harold is a really great instructor. He gives constructive criticism and not only does he prepare you to pass the road test, but he also teaches proper driving etiquette in order for you to be a good, safe driver in the long run. With that being said, driving sessions were very productive. Along with that, Harold is very friendly and we had a few laughs here and there. Thank you so much to Harold as I am a lot more confident and I'm pleased to have had him as my instructor. Definitely would recommend A Confidence Driving School!!
